Uh also in the third fourth grade boys, we have Arlo, Sam, and Ryan from Jamaica. Um for the France team/un United States, uh what a parent. uh Brennan, Sammy, Johnny, and Kayen. And the Mexican team for the third and fourth grade boys is Mustafa, Mohamd, and Adnan. Now for third and fourth grade girls for Switzerland, um we have Paige today, Josie, Vivian, and Tessa. Uh the French ladies are represented by Louisa, Willow, and Elliot. And the Australians uh are brought with them today, Tilly, Olly, Riley, Jack, and Lucy. Um the Norwegian team today, uh we have Pepper, Gigi, and Ella. And the Brazilian third and fourth grade girls um are represented today by Kyla, Payton, and Juliet. All right, anybody who has not started to make their way over to the track, uh, now is the right time. The parade of nations will commence momentarily. And let's see, the fifth and sixth grade boys this morning for the Croatian team, uh, Knox, Bod, Henry, and Oakley will be playing. Uh, Spanish team, um, We have Owen, Sterling, and Abe. Uh, Brazilian team is Elhan, Leaf, and Gus. The Spanish team represented by Roman, Keegan, Charlie, Miles, and Paige. Uh, the Scottish team, Fergus, Oliver, and Wilder appear to be brothers. Way to go. Um for the Spanish team, Greece, Sully, Jorah, and Ulie. And the Norwegian team, uh for the fifth and sixth grade boys is represented by Ellias, Wesley, and Oliver. All right. Uh the Avorian Ivory Coast team is um represented by Elliot, Caleb, and Ashton this morning. And another Spanish team uh features Manny, Miles, and Lori for the fifth and sixth grade boys. Um, another Norwegian team, we have Kason, Mason, Hayden, and Pam. And the French team for the fifth and sixth grade boys is Gus, James, and Matise. And for that age group, we also have a South Korean team uh featuring Henry, Guju, Anderson, and Oliver. myself. >> All right. Yeah, as our teams are lining up, I also encourage the parents to make your way down towards the shed and towards the center of the field. It is a nice nice view and it's where the parade is going to commen are going to finish and we'll have a commencement ceremony. So, as the um parade commences, uh obviously Sambboata is going to be pro providing uh cultural sounds for us all morning. Um make sure to show some appreciation for them. But of course, the sponsors for today's event uh deserve a lot of appreciation as well. Um first off, Muer Alive does so much for this community and uh is a huge part of this tradition. Thank you. Stand back together. >> Yeah, we're going to start with a little historical background about how World Festival all came about. And then we have the honorable mayor of Milia Mark right here with a little keynote address and then the games will start. Okay. So World Soccer Festival started in 2012 in Hypat Vermont. The idea came in 2011 where I was working as a PE teacher at a high elementary school and a group of parents came up to me knowing my background as a soccer guy and knowing that I'm originally from Ghana. They came to talk to me about organizing a soccer event to celebrate soccer and diversity. So I said sure why not anything about soccer? I would say yes all the time 100%. So in 2012, the two parents Aaron with a E and then Aaron with a A um started the event in High Park and that was the best year and then since then from 2012 up to 2018 they've been joined by my mom Esenhog and Bobby um K Bobby. So they run it from 20 uh 2012 all the way to 2018. And then in 20 2023 they feel like they want somebody else to take over. And so a group of parents uh guys in Mila who love soccer, dream soccer, eat soccer, sleep soccer. Uh Jamie, Chad, myself and other parents came together and talk to mom and keep that would like to keep it alive, keep the festival alive. So for the past three years we've been having this event in Milia and looks like it's growing from strength to strength. The highest number of teams we've had in the past was 34 but this year the number rose to 51 teams. >> So without further ado, I would like the mayor of Montilia Park give a quick keynote address and then the games will flow. Thank you, Emanuel. >> Uh, on behalf of the city of Melia and Melia Alive, um, I want to just say a lot of thank yous. Thank you, first of all, for the great weather we're having. Thank you for Emanuel and all the organizers who did some kind of heroic scheduling effort that boggles the mind. Thank you for the parents. Kids, this is where you applaud for your parents. Thank you for all the parents and grownups who brought everybody out here. And most importantly, thank you for all the young players who are out here today because today really is about youth and about soccer and about the things that we learn from soccer. It teaches us things like discipline and resilience and most importantly, it teaches us teamwork. And those lessons are going to last your whole life whether you play soccer ever again or not. And on the field, it doesn't matter where you came from, what flag you got, what jersey you're wearing. You're just a kid with a mind and a body and a ball and your teammates. And that that's that's what today is. And the city of Melia is grateful for you. And we're grateful for here in the state of Vermont how we're growing. We have growing diversity and that brings new energy, new ideas, new flags, new teammates, and it makes all of us stronger as community, as neighbors, economically, you name it. Now, I would ask you how many mayors you could name and everybody would say maybe one if you know my name and that's not it. But who are the most famous people in in the world? They're all footballers and all of them started out as some kid with a foot and a ball and some teammates. So, not to not to belver any of these points. Have a great time today. Play hard. We always want to honor our graduating oldest participants who have been here for many years with us. And unfortunately, we'll be going on to high school on a bunch of boring stuff next year and can't do it. So, if I can have all of our eighth grade participants just come to the front. They have not changed. The most important thing is that the games do not start individually. The swarm sounds and every game at every field will start simultaneously, which means you need to be at your field 5 minutes before the game and not miss the beginning. Um, beyond that, the games are 20 minutes. The again, the 20 minutes just runs. It does not stop. You substitute on the fly. As far as the rules go, no player can touch the ball inside the goal box. It's a very small goal box inside of each one. If a defender touches it, it's a penalty kick. If an attacker touches it inside the box, it's a goal kick. Um, there's no keepers, there's no slide tackling. Uh, all fouls are an indirect kick. late in fouls as judged by our uh Mular High School boys referees um result in a penalty kick. Um there's no throwins. It's all kickins out the sideline or the end line. Um corner kick, the defender needs to be 5 yards back and it's again an indirect kick so it can't go straight in the goal. Um that's pretty standard. Corner kicks, goal kicks, penalty kicks are all very standard and your referees do know the rules. So if you need any clarification, please ask them. And again, please thank our Mailor High School boys for volunteering to help referee today. And our first game, group one, round one starts at 10:50. So, be at your field at 10:45, please.
