Overcoming Rh Isoimmunisation for a Healthy Delivery | HCMCT Manipal Hospitals Dwarka
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
Yamini Ahuja shares her experience of overcoming a complex medical challenge during her second pregnancy, where she was identified as Rh negative while her husband was Rh positive. This combination created a risk for Rh isoimmunization, a condition where the mother's immune system produces antibodies against the baby's Rh-positive blood cells, potentially harming the fetus. After encountering errors with her previous doctor and facing high antibody titers at eight months of pregnancy, Yamini and her husband sought help at Manipal Hospital Dwarka. There, they were guided by Dr. Leena, who immediately recognized the severity of the case and ensured that every aspect of their care was prioritized to protect both mother and child.
The medical team at the hospital employed a robust multidisciplinary approach to manage the pregnancy closely, conducting weekly follow-ups and utilizing regular Doppler studies to monitor the baby's well-being in real-time. This intensive monitoring allowed the doctors to track fetal maturity accurately and avoid premature delivery, successfully taking the pregnancy to 37 weeks and four days. Throughout this process, Yamini felt a strong emotional connection with the staff, particularly Dr. Leena, who shared ultrasound images of the baby with her husband, providing immense comfort and reassurance during what could have been a stressful time.
Upon reaching full maturity, Yamini underwent a C-section delivery thanks to the coordinated efforts of the entire team, including pediatrician Dr. Vinay, who ensured the safe handover of the healthy baby boy weighing 3.1 kilograms. The hospital staff provided exceptional care that extended beyond medical treatment to include emotional support and attention to her daily needs, such as food and comfort. Yamini expressed deep gratitude for the seamless cooperation among all doctors and nurses, noting that their collective dedication made the journey not only medically successful but also emotionally rewarding for the family.
Ultimately, Yamini and Nikit are relieved and happy with the outcome, having received a healthy child despite the initial complications associated with Rh isoimmunization. She highly recommends Manipal Hospital Dwarka for its superior medical expertise, compassionate staff, and comprehensive care system that addresses both physical and emotional needs. The experience has left a lasting positive impression on the couple, who plan to miss the dedicated hospital staff dearly in the future and view their journey as one of the best they could have hoped for.

Hi everyone. My name is Yamini and my
husband is Nikit.
So, we planned a second pregnancy
and I was B negative. The case was quite
complicated.
Earlier, I was getting checkup from my
old gynecologist. However, there were
some mistakes done by the doctors
and someone suggested me about Manipal
Hospital because in 8-month pregnancy, I
got ICT test
wherein the values were quite high and
it was difficult for us to for that
time.
The phase I can't even explain the phase
I've gone through
there and
then we met with Dr. Leena.
>> We had a patient, Ms. Yamini Ahuja, who
came to me at 29 weeks of pregnancy with
an Rh isoimmunized baby.
The What that means is basically there
had been antibodies in the blood against
the Rh factors and that had led to a
condition where
you could say that these antibodies
could fight the baby.
>> And she was the one who just checked the
report of mine. So, I came here in 8
months, met with Dr. Leena
and she do not know even about me.
>> So, this she was quite worried
because she was a negative blood group
and her husband was
a positive blood group. And we found
that the titers were quite significantly
raised, but because we have a good
multidisciplinary system, we were able
to follow up the pregnancy every week
week by week in an effort to avoid
prematurity. When she just saw my report
and
she said that this case is going to be
complicated and definitely make sure
that she's going to prioritize each and
everything.
All the follow-ups were taken up on
timely by ma'am. Each and everything and
all ultrasound doctors here are superb.
We met with Dr. Bhavna as well. She's a
wonderful woman.
>> We were able to take her up to a
complete maturity of the baby and that
is 37 weeks. At 37 weeks 4 days, we have
delivered the baby. The baby is fine.
The reason we could closely monitor the
baby was with the by doing regular
Doppler studies.
>> I would say given me a
strong emotional connect with her.
Called my husband showing baby pictures
in ultrasound and that was a super
emotional connect with us.
Each one of the doctor then when I get
delivery in C-section
all the services provided by the doctor,
staff and everything was just amazing.
Why? Because they just took do not take
care of me, of food and everything, but
also connected with me emotionally as
well. Dr. Vinay, the pediatrician,
ensured that my baby is handed over to
me safely. Ensured each and every test
went well. All
things
went well. So, I would definitely
recommend Manipal Hospital.
>> We found that the baby was very much not
I mean was not affected at all and she
has a healthy baby boy 3.1 kg and I
think today she's a very relieved and
very happy mother.
>> A very big thanks to Manipal Hospital
and the staff who cooperated with me
in each and everything.
And the best journey I would say.
>> Yes, definitely.
>> And
for so many long years I'm going to miss
the hospital staff definitely. Thank
you.
