We are going to head out to the great white north, but instead of Quebec or Ontario, we're going to focus in on British Columbia and the invasion of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club in to BC. This was some great reporting that we want to touch on by the goat in that uh neck of the woods, Kim Bolan. Um you know, she's the best crime reporter on the west side or west side, west coast of uh of Canada. She does a tremendous job uh at the Vancouver Sun and she's been a a guest of ours on the OG. We hope to have her back. And nobody knows that criminal underworld better than Kim. and she uh did some reporting this summer that touches on reports from law enforcement as well as some other regulatory bodies in Canada that shows the outlaws who have never really had much of a presence at all if any presence uh in BC or in the Vancouver area. they are, you know, their power base has always been Ontario or at least for the last 40 years. Um, but now there are confirmed, not just sightings, but confirmed members of the outlaws have moved into BC in recent years. And what that means, I guess, is still to be determined, but uh this is rockolid information. This isn't speculation. And I want to be clear on what's being reported. Um there is no outlaws chapter that has opened in BC, but according to law enforcement uh sources to both Kim and myself, you have Alberta outlaws settled in British Columbia, uh in the Vancouver area and one of them uh was deported back in July. Sislar [ __ ] who was a Alberta Hell's Angels living Alberta Hell's Angel living in BC, um arrested in June, deported in July to his native Hungary. and he's [snorts] somebody that had been observed by RCMP attending a outlaws motorcycle club summit of some sort in Calgary um in the uh months and year before he was apprehended and put on a plane to Europe. But uh he is you know it it it's being presented and again it's all been vetted by mainstream media in Canada by us at the OG. I believe, I shouldn't say I believe, I know, a member of law enforcement went on record with Kim in her reporting of this a couple weeks ago that there are multiple outlaws, full patch members living in British Columbia. And you know, just to double back on the there is no chapter, but it makes you wonder is is the outlaws coming into town, taking up residence, are those the seeds that are being planted for a potential outlaws chapter in BC, which we haven't seen in quite a while, if ever. I don't want to misspeak. I know in the 70s when the outlaws were coming in and the Hell's Angels were both coming into Canada uh in 1977 they they uh planted flags in Canada within a couple months of each other. It was I believe it was the outlaws first and then Hell's Angels Outlaws passed over a bunch of a bunch of Satan's choice and Hell's Angels passed over the Popeye's and then you had this, you know, the first what was called the first Canadian biker war. There was actually one before that between Satan's Choice and the Popeyes, but those were kind of local homegrown groups. The Outlaws and Hell's Angels were US groups that had expanded into Canadian territory. And they had about a an eight-year almost decade long war where dozens of bodies dropped. Um, you know, the there were assassinations. Hell's Angel's boss was assassinated. And then what you know what was spun from that was the rise of of the guys that are now at the helm of the Hell's Angels. Skyling Gua Nurgot Stadnik, Mam Boucher. previously. You know, Mom Buché has been off the streets for a while, but uh you know, that's who rose from the embers of of a lot of violence and a lot of recklessness. And it when we're talking about setting the stage for things or laying the foundation for things, it was a a foreshadowing of what we had in the 90s into the early 2000s with the Great Quebec Biker War. But it was a battle of attrition and for the most part the outlaws were pushed out of Montreal uh by the late 80s, early 90s. They had a I think they had some presence going forward, but it was very minimal. They never were at the status of the Hell's Angels like when they were uh head-to-head in those early years uh the early seven or late 70s early 80s. Um so the outlaws, you know, the the power base of the outlaws in Canada is on is in Ontario. Now they have chapters in other provinces. Um, we just referenced the the Alberta outlaws that are the ones that are said to be making the inroads into BC, but you know, the power uh for the most part is in Ontario. And you know, could this be a situation that flares tensions between 81, who has always been the dominant 1% group in uh in BC Vancouver since the early 80s, and that was a a Nurg Stadnik production. you know, he he saw the expansion of the Hell's Angels out of its Quebec uh founding was was essential to uh you know just the welfare of of the Hell's Angels across the border from the US. And I I want to correct myself on a previous podcast I said that the Hell's Angels came out of North Car uh Northern California. They were actually founded in Southern California, but became a a cultural staple and and underworld powerhouse with Sunny Barger and the uh the Nocal Oakland guys. So, I apologize for messing up that history, but uh the Hell's Angels moved heavy into BC in the early 80s. I think it was 83 and have, you know, there's the standard bearer in that uh that part of Canada. And we did a little bit of reporting back in the winter or early spring talking about how hardside chapter closed and was replaced by Westside chapter. Is this, you know, does this represent kind of a a a changing of the guard? I mean, that might be a bit of an overstatement. It's not like uh outlaws have done anything to challenge the status quo other than just planting roots there. you know, guys that are wearing out outlaws patches being boots on the ground living 24/7 in essentially enemy territory. Is is this something that we can extrapolate or look on the horizon and see that, you know, if a chapter does arise, is that going to stir up enough commotion to send the Outlaws and the Hell's Angels uh back to war in Canada? I mean, they've been Outlaws and Hell's Angels are, you know, the longest 1% feud the war between those two groups has has been on uh since 1974, you know, all tied to a New Year's Eve party in New York where some outlaws were assaulted or kicked out. And then months later in Florida, uh it was a Hell's Angels party in New York and the [clears throat] Hell's Angels that had been on the delivering side of this beating and and this uh being, you know, this these guys getting kicked out of a party, one of one of the participants or combatants was somebody that had slept with somebody's wife in New York. He eventually goes to Chicago and becomes a big shot caller there. Pete Rogers, Greece Lightning. But uh you know the res resulting violence from what happened on New Year's Eve is in April of 74. Bunch of outlaws lure some Hell's Angels. Um who I believe were actually guys from L Massachusetts. Uh and those were guys that had been involved in the rock uh the frackus on New Year's and uh they get lured down to to Florida and are are executed in a gravel pit and that sparks a war that's still raging 52 years later. There's been peace summits held. It looked like there could have been a a conclusion in the uh '9s when George Christie and and Taco Bowman from the Hell's Angels and Outlaws respectively sat down and then the guys in Milwaukee, I'm told, kind of outlaws in Milwaukee put the kaibos on the the piece that was being negotiated. And then more recently, there's been meetings that seem to have lost steam or momentum. But but a couple years ago, Hell's Angels and Outlaws leaders were meeting. There was a at least three or four meetings in relation to what was going on with the pagans in the United States. Pagans Motorcycle Club in the middle to this day still in the middle of this expansion effort known as the blue wave. So both hell's hell's angels and outlaws came to the conclusion that you know my enemy's enemy could be a friend and started talking about putting their differences aside and uh joining forces to combat the blue wave which has taken the pagans from a regional group in the Atlantic mid-Atlantic east coast and now is in the last six six to eight years has gone to every state in the union. I wouldn't be shocked if they start moving into Canada soon, but that created a situation where the Hell's Angels and Outlaws were negotiating a possible peace. I, you know, the fact that I haven't heard anything about that in the last year or two, I think speaks to the fact that it probably didn't go anywhere again. just like just because things look like they're headed in in a certain direction doesn't mean that that's going to materialize and I think we would have heard something by now and I think there was a there was some momentum and some excitement that that could happen and then it it didn't is what we're seeing now um in British Columbia somehow tied to that um with the diplomatic relations falling apart and and at the same time in these last couple years you've had these uh Alberta outlaws coming into BC. But until further notice, you know, BC is a Hell's Angel province. They reign supreme because BC doesn't really have a traditional Italian mafia. Hell's Angels are top dog and again have been for 40 years. Uh it's not like it is in Ontario or Quebec or in the United States where the Hell's Angels have to share the uh the prestigious underworld title uh with with the Italians where even today you know the Italians still get a lot more headlines in the mainstream media at least outside of the West Coast of the US uh that than the Hell's Angels do or the outlaws do or you know any 1enters But make no mistake, in British Columbia, it's Hell's Angels top to bottom. They control that ecosystem. They're the the elite. They're the uh group that people aspire to be a part of. Yeah, there's the Wolfpack. Yeah, there's the UN gang, but it it's as top shelf as you get when you get a Hell's Angels patch. And uh they are iconic and they are revered. and the outlaws have never been a factor in anything going on uh in in British Columbia when it comes to the 1% world. So, this is something I think to keep an eye on. I will that's my job. That's what I do. So, I will keep an eye for all of you out in OG Nation. Um, you know, we're uh we're based out of Detroit and uh Detroit's a big outlaws town and I was I've been fortunate enough to uh get get some previous facetime with some some legendary outlaws. Nothing but respect. Uh, also, you know, the Hell's Angels that I've met in my reporting when it comes to Canada has have been the highlight of my career. Getting a chance to go into the the Southshore Clubhouse, meet Skyland Gua when I was working on the Vice Viceland documentary, Kingdom Come, go check it out. uh was, you know, that was that was the pinnacle for me um in my in in in my uh reporting on at least when it comes to 1% reporting. Uh Skylingua is a is a legend's legend. So, I got respect and admiration for both of these clubs and I consider myself, you know, at the end of the day, I'm I'm a reporter, but I'm also a historian and I want to make sure everything's properly chronicled and and contextualized. So, I don't have a a dog in a fight. But again, this is something that is unusual. It's an outlier of a situation to find out that there are outlaws that exist and are living full-time in Hell's Angel territory in BC. Shout out to Kim Bolan for for sniffing this out and getting it out to the public. You know, I couldn't be doing this pod if it wasn't for the reporting that she did. I followed it up with some of my sources. Um, and it's it's of note that law enforcement is paying attention because this [ __ ] guy gets kicked out of kicked out of the country pretty quick once they uh got the cuffs on him earlier this summer.
