Our HISTORIC Senior Season! RTG Ep. #9

College Football 27 Road to Glory. We started our career as a five-star in high school. Our first college was Florida State. We then went to Notre Dame and finally [music] Ohio State for our junior year. And apparently Ryan Day put a player lock on me or something because in my senior year I was not given the option to transfer. This is a known bug, but EA is a small indie company. There's only a few employees. Don't, you know, cut them some slack. Regardless, we're in my senior year at Ohio State going on our final playoff run. And I'll be honest, if there was any team to get locked into, Ohio State's a pretty good one. I blaze through the regular season and we're in the quarterfinals of the 2030 College Football Playoff. Looking for my fourth National Championship appearance, but potentially only my second win. Those first two years, we made it, but fell short. Our first opponent would be Boise State. On the other end of that is Old Miss or Indiana. On the other side of the bracket, some interesting teams. He's [music] got Pit and UAB, then Utah Georgia. I wouldn't mind an Ohio State Georgia matchup. I feel like that'd be our toughest, but it'd be kind of crazy to see like the UAB Blazers who are 13-0 right now in the national championship. Now, the benefits of playing this entire season out with Ohio State is I have 3,300 skill points to spend. We're a 90 overall. I saved them all up for this finale episode right here. And then after this episode, I plan to import this tight end into Madden and play a full season of Superstar. So, here's our stats right now. We're at 90 overall. We have 90 speed, 84 excel. And our catching stats, at least for deep balls, are really, really good. We have 91 catching, 91 catching traffic, 92 spec. And I think the big problem for me right now is physical abilities are so good, but they're so [music] expensive. Now, if we want 50/50 platinum, we have gold tier right now. We need 94 spectacular catch. I feel like platinum 50/50 is going to be kind of insane. So, I think we got to take spec catch all the way up to 94. That's going to cost us 210. [music] I wouldn't mind upgrading catching traffic to 95, but if you played any College 27, you'll know it's so expensive to upgrade your player. I have to be really smart about these upgrades. I like my open field stats. My stiff arming is 90. I've always enjoyed that. Trucking is 84. Could get an upgrade. And a cap breaker on Excel and speed. Feel like I got to go with that. We have so many cap breakers to use. So, we could take speed up to 91. I feel like for sure we're going to do that. I think excel up to 86 sounds nice and spec up to 94. That's going to be my first upgrade. That's 601 skill points spent right there. Now, as we play through these games, we're going to earn some more as well. But that's going to let me get platinum 50/50. I feel like that's a non-negotiable. We got to go into this final playoff run with platinum abilities. Platinum sure hands is crazy. And remember, when you get hot, it goes up to the next tier. And in college football 27, there is a Heisman tier for abilities. There's one tier above platinum, but you got to get hot to earn it. So, those two are the only ones I need. I don't need cutter. That's a That shit's a myth. Balanced is actually pretty nice, but I'm so big that I don't take hit sticks that often anyway. This is better if you're like an elusive running back or a small wide receiver, but I just don't get laid out that often. I don't feel like I need balanced downhill gold tier. I want to take that, too. I think if we go gold downhill, that'll be boosted to platinum and then Heisman 50/50 and sure hands when we're hot. I plan to be hot for most of these playoff runs. Another thing that ended up being a lot more important in Road to Glory that I really didn't expect was toughness. Toughness is how you accumulate wear and tear. It's like the rate at which you accumulate wear and tear. Reduces the wear and tear a player accumulates from repeated hits during a game. You can't turn wear and tear off cuz if you do, you don't earn any XP hardly. It like negates by [music] like 60%. So, you got to have it on. And then by like the third quarter, I'm rocking minus 5 speed and stuff. So, I can't believe I'm saying this. I'm going to use a cap breaker on toughness, which is kind of gross. But, I have so many capreers. The whole capreaker system is kind of busted because it's so hard to earn this many skill points. The toughness is very cheap, so that's nice. But I can take that up to 81 for not much. But I don't know. It's just so weird. I have so many more cap breakers than I could ever really use to upgrade my player. We're at the end of my senior season and I'm a 90 overall. I think after all these upgrades when we get into the natty, hopefully we're a 95. And the other thing you can do is you can upgrade kind of meaningless stats to get your overall up. Like I've obviously I put no stats at all in blocking. [music] I wonder if this would even increase my overall. No, it wouldn't. So I got toughness to 83, which I like. I'm going to use another cap breaker. I'd love to [music] not have wear and tear here. Take that up to 85. Damn, this thing is laggy as [ __ ] [screaming] Oh my god. Okay, so I've used all five of my cap breakers on toughness. The max I can have is 85. Dude, this thing needs like a hard reset. Oh my god. I'm going to use my final cap breaker on speed. So, the absolute fastest I can be is 92 speed. Acceleration, I'm going to pump one more into as well. 88. And honestly, this is lagging so bad. I'm going to give the I'm going to cycle the game real quick. Holy guacamole. Work with me, Electronic Arts, please. E. >> Although, I might have just Oh, I wonder if that deleted all the upgrades I just made. And it just deleted everything I did. OH, I GOT TO DO all that [ __ ] again. Please tell me it's going to work. Oh, that is good to know, though. Like, if you made a bunch of upgrades and then you had like buyer's remorse and you were like, "Wait a minute. I don't want to do any of that." Oh, yeah. It's just going to run like [ __ ] again. I'm going to take spec and catching traffic. I'm gonna go 94.95 on those. Holy [ __ ] This user interface was built by a [ __ ] monkey. Oh my god, dude. Everyone's already always yapping about AI. You know, say everyone's saying AI is going to take our jobs. AI is going to do this. Can you tell AI to come in here and re and recode this up? You tell AI to come fix this [ __ ] My goodness. Strength is relatively inexpensive. I'll take that up to 78. Now, let's make sure we don't forget our physical abilities. So, there's 50/50. There's downhill. There's sure hands. And I'm glad I'm glad I did that right there because I've only got 343 skill points left. We're a 93 overall going into our final playoff run. I feel like there's some cheap upgrades I could do to get my overall up. It's just a vanity plate though. Like I want my player to play the best he can. I don't really care if his overall says it's a high number. Yeah, like brake tackle. Like upgrading my brake tackle doesn't change my overall at all, but it feels so important. Feel like trucking could be important, too. But I wonder to what degree downhill is just doing all the heavy lifting for trucking. Like, do I even need to upgrade this? Is downhill going to do it all for me? I'll take it to 85, strength to 80. My brake tackle up as well. I want to just be blazing through everybody. And that's my final upgrade. So, we're maxed out on speed at 92. Excel could use another cat breaker. So, looks like that can go up to 90. Strength's at 80. Stiff arms at 90. Jumping's at 87. This is probably a good cap breaker, too. is jumping. If I could get my jumping up to like 91, I feel like that'd be nasty. I use a catbreaker on stiff arm, too. So, I get 91 stiff arm. I mean, I know I didn't sweat out every single game this season, but I really did expect being the best tight end of all time ever to be a higher overall than this at this point in the season. Regardless, though, we're taking on Boise State who is eighth in the nation. They're 13-1. And if you take a look at the rosters, I mean, there's a huge discrepancy. Ohio State is an unbelievable powerhouse. You know, you know, I say that about the overalls, but there's really not a lot of super high overall players in the entire game. Like they you hardly see players ever get to 97, 98, 99 overall. It's just the way college football does it. My stats are boosted right now because of NIL. I'll show you what those boosts are in a sec. Our second best player is actually a kicker. Uh we got really good, we got really good tackles. We have two insane kickers, which is kind of crazy. And then Clark Encou is our quarterback. He's a sophomore. He's an 88 overall. He's pretty fast. He's got off platform and pull down. So, that should be fun. We got Tank Bsby's brother at right guard. It's Ohio State. You know the deal. Now, let's take a look at Boise State. Our opponent for this first playoff matchup. I don't know if I'm looking at Boise State's roster or not. It says Boise State, but then it shows Baylor players. Disregard that. It says Baylor. I'm pretty sure this is Boise State's team. Antoine Marcus, James Tortilla. They got a nasty quarterback. Who am I going to have to worry about? So, their best player is a middle linebacker. Antoine Marcus. He's going to be an issue. Their next best player is another middle linebacker and another middle linebacker and a bunch of halfbacks. Got a fast corner. I don't see great safeties. Edward Hilenberg's a starting safety for them. He's got 87 speed. I'm faster than him. Way faster than this other one. What about their strong safety? Show me these Boise State strong safeties. Oh, this guy's ass. Oh my god. If that is their starting strong safety, I might have some big touchdowns today. 83 speed on the starter. That could be huge. I'll be playing on Heisman five minutee quarters for this run. All right, Boise State. Let's see what you got, baby. Matt Meeks, number 87, walking out against Boise State. And uh I would say I'm so sad that these are his last few games, but that's not entirely true because we'll be leaving for the NFL at the end of the season. Who knows where I'll go. If you guys saw my Madden 27 review, my first player that I made was a tight end and he got sent to the Browns. So, I don't know if like certain positions have a better chance to go to a certain place. I really hope that's not the case, though. Like, if I am doomed to go to the Browns as a tight end, I don't know how long it take me to win a Super Bowl, but it'd be fun. Guys, I Bluey on the TV. If you if any of you have kids, you know what that is? It's a kid show. I turn on for the dogs. Yeah, I'm at my millionth setup, but you'll see me at this setup again in the future. I'm working on a permanent setup for it. But ooh, take a look at this. We start the game out hot, which means I have Heisman tier abilities to kick it off. That's huge. All right, second and inches. I lowkey like this coverage, dude. That's Heisman sure hands. That's crazy, dude. I feel like we're going to come down with everything. I don't know if that's true or not. I'd love if that was true. Let's take a good route here and see if we get open. Oh, why not? But if this is our last three games of college football, assuming we make the national championship, which I think we will, we got to absolutely ball out. And I think, dude, with how slow Holy Ball, Clark in, that's an insane pass. I didn't even jump. Yo, I got Heisman 50/50 and I won't even jump. Oh, give me single coverage. Oh my god. I didn't like that was never an issue before cuz you just turn wear and tear off or if you really wanted to play with it I guess you might have already known that but I didn't use it very often. Big stiff arm almost enough. I'll take it. It's a good looking drive right now. But now that I realize how important wear and tear is, I kind of wish I'd used it before. I'm lined up as a slot wide receiver here. I might actually get a really good look on this. Oh yes sir. That's not a great look. Dang it. But I needed to call for that sooner. I needed to get it before the safety was able to come over for help. Once again, they got a high safety. I think they're just running cover two, man. So, I don't think I'm going to be able to get like [music] Okay, actually that's going to be money. Can I get through this kid? Come on, Matt Meeks. Five catches, 76 yards. I'm not wearing tear yet. Oh, no. I am a little bit. My bar is a little bit down. I'm the primary receiver on this one. First touchdown of our playoff run. Could this be it? Okay, Clarky. Clark, that was a little close to an interception, buddy. I'm going to let my teammate potentially get this. Although, you can call for the ball on a screen. That's so greedy. That's literally halfback slip screen. And I'm telling my boy to throw it across the middle. Hey, it works. So, our first touchdown. Got to love to see it. Ryan Day plays me. Plays me. Plays me. You know what's funny, you guys, is I think I figured out why this system right here is so bugged. The coach system. I think how EA determines whether your coach says something good to you or bad to you is not the actual outcome of the play, but whether you got plus or minus for your teammate grade. So, if you have a poor release or a poor route ran, but you score a touchdown, coach will [ __ ] you out because it gave you like minus initially for your coach grade. And that's why it's so bad on defense cuz on defense you could get like, you know, you're out of your zone coverage, but you sacked the quarterback. Or you could get a safety because you blitzed but you were out of position and then coach will come bish you out on like the best play ever. I think that's what's going on. But yeah, I lose a little bit of immersion there. I already lost a lot of immersion. You know, the best tight end of all time ever and I'm projected to go in the 19th round of the draft. Sick. That's a crazy call for pass. And I don't know how I caught it either just off of pure ratings, but we'll take it. It's 7 to zero. I don't think Boise State's going to be able to keep up and I'm hoping that this is some single coverage right here. Oh my god, it is. Oh my god, it is. Here we go. The perfect time to use it. Creeping. Did I have Heisman tier 50/50? And that looked like such a green, did it not? I guess it's not. I guess I'm a jobless chud. Damn, that was the exact opportunity I'm always looking for. I will say I think that it's my first time getting an offensive pass interference. So if it comes in my senior year in the Rose Bowl, well actually that's a pretty bad time to get it, but it's my first time in my career. I think we can cut me. Oh, I'm so open. I mean, he he got a great bump on me, too, and we still get right past him, especially with my new speed upgrades. I think the interesting thing to note will be I've done so many, you know, seasons now of tight end on college football, and as you play, you figure out like what's really good and what's really bad and what always works. Like when the linebackers play like that, you just call for the ball down the seam and you just get so many yards. Let's see if they keep playing like that cuz he might play like that right now. We still had 17 receptions for 422 yards and six touchdowns, which I think is the most touchdowns I've ever had in a game. Not bad. Single game record broken. National single game receiving yards. That certainly was my best game ever. I don't think we'll get such a perfect storm of matchups again, but I wouldn't mind it. The rematch. This is our Big 10 Championship matchup. Indiana. This is like It's like we're playing the Big 10 Championship. We get to play Indiana again. I sim through last time I played. I never get to really play them. Semi-final battle. Looks like it's going to rain. 74 degrees, 85% chance of rain against Indiana. And their roster is certainly going to be better. There's no question. Let's see if the game breaks in half when I try to view them. Oh, there's Indiana, but it just says Ohio State. Okay. Their best player is a wide receiver. Super fast, but that's not really my issue. Honestly, dude, I swear the mic linebacker and the safeties are most important to me. Their mics are slow. Their corners are slow. Their safety's fast. Their junior free safety is definitely going to be able to keep up with me. He's faster than me, but the strong safety is slower. I'm really glad that they're not starting Bryce Lowry. That guy's fast as hell. Nothing much left on our agenda. We just got to bring our wear and tear back to full. We're in peak physical condition. I've got 6.3 million followers on Instagram. I'm him.
