Video summary
The video features a content creator unboxing five new Yu-Gi-Oh! Mega Starter Kit mystery boxes purchased from Target for approximately $15 each, totaling around $75. The host begins by jokingly expressing fear that the boxes are a scam, given their low price point and bulk packaging, but quickly discovers they contain a mix of common cards, speed duel sets, and surprisingly high-value items. As he opens the first box, he finds it filled with penny sleeves and various commons from starter decks, including several "Effect Veiler" copies and older cards like "Revolution Synchron," which was once significantly more expensive. He notes that while the initial contents feel like generic bulk, the quality is better than expected because Konami has recently reprinted many popular structure deck cards as commons, making them easily obtainable through these mystery boxes rather than requiring a direct purchase from secondary markets.
As the unboxing continues through the remaining four boxes, the host pulls out numerous playable cards that add value to his collection, such as "Ash Blossom," "Mystical Space Typhoon," "Book of Moon," and multiple copies of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon." He is particularly excited when he uncovers a rare "Absolute Zero" card in one of the boxes, which alone justifies the cost of that specific pack. Throughout the process, he highlights that while many cards are reprints or commons from discontinued formats like Speed Duel, there is still a decent amount of usable content for modern formats like Goat Format and Extra Deck play. He also points out some minor packaging oddities, such as upside-down cards and an unusually high quantity of sleeves in one box, but ultimately concludes that the bulk nature of these boxes provides a significant upside compared to buying individual commons separately.
In his final conclusion, the host advises viewers that while these mystery boxes are not strictly recommended for experienced players who already own most of the reprinted hand traps and commons, they offer a viable option for new players or those looking to build decks on a budget without spending hundreds of dollars. He contrasts these Target boxes with "Magnificent Monsters" mystery boxes, suggesting that while Magnificent Monsters carries a risk of getting very low-quality bulk, the Mega Starter Kits provide a more consistent chance at finding decent cards due to their source material being high-end starter decks. Ultimately, he finds the purchase worthwhile because it allows players to acquire a large stack of usable cards for a fraction of the cost, though he emphasizes that buyers should still be selective and avoid purchasing boxes if they already possess the specific cards inside.

Today I'm opening a new Yu-Gi-Oh!
Mystery box from Target, the Mega
Starter Kit. We're probably getting
scammed.
>> What is up everyone? We are back with
another mystery box opening. And I might
actually make this go up a little higher
so we could fully embrace the
amazingness of the Mega Starter Kit. And
by amazingness, I mean probably complete
terribleness. Uh, we're going to go over
what's actually in here and open them up
very soon. There's there's several of
these I picked up, but Wayward Comics
actually helped me out with this and
they wanted me to open this on video.
Uh, we have reminded me of you pulling
something and yelling. Okay, I have no
idea what this is. So, is that is that
it? Is that the whole thing now? Do I
Okay, we got to be careful. I don't know
what this is. Let's Let's be very
careful with the knife and not cut
anything that doesn't need to be cut
besides the tape. We don't want to pull
a Dark Magician Grandmaster situation.
Oh, I just bent whatever that was.
Hopefully there's nothing in there.
[laughter] I bent this uh support thing.
Uh, okay. I'm scared. I'm a little
scared. What is it? Oh, it's a Pokemon

our first Oh, wait. Let's take a look at
it. Mega starter kit. These are at
Target, by the way. I went to my local
Target, wasn't able to find them.
Luckily, uh Waver Comic shipped me some.
100 total Yu-Gi-Oh card. Dude, that's a
lot of cards, including five promo cards
and one rare card. I think these are
$14.99, I believe. Uh one BCW
multiolored card sleeve. So, we get one
card sleeve. That means a pack of card
sleeves, right? Surely. Uh, okay. I'm
just confused. All right. This package
is same thing. It said on the front.
Purchase directly from the manufacturer
or purchase from secondary market and
package. The Fairfield Company. Always
an incredible experience with a
Fairfield company. I've never been
disappointed. So, let's see what we can
get in here. Come on, Fairfield. All
right. I want you guys to guess right
now in the comments. Will we get
anything that's decent? Like any of the
100 cards in all these ones that I
bought. Will we get anything decent?
Like I mean like anything. I hope so.
Oh, okay. So, it's a box inside a box.
The packaging, ironically, is better
than Magnificent Monsters.
What in the world is inside? So, it
looks like you Okay, we're getting some
sleeves. So, it is the penny sleeves.
So, it's nothing too crazy, but we do
get some penny sleeves. I don't hate
that getting some sleeves with my cards.
That's like actually not the worst. Now,
will this all be 100% bulk? Cuz this
didn't guarantee any hollowos, did it?
It just says 100 total Yu-Gi-Oh cards.
And it's priced at $15. That feels like
a bulk price. So, okay. These are all
just completely out of order, too. Oh,
no. That's just because they're speed
duel. Okay. So,
an effect veiler. This is from a start,
like a deck, but that's not bad.
Actually, that's our best card yet. I'm
going to try to pull out anything
remotely decent. Uh, but oh my gosh,
this looks like bulk. Okay.
>> [laughter]
>> Uh, Called by the Grave. Great card. The
thing is like these are good cards, but
they're in just deck starter decks now.
So, like they're very easy to acquire.
Revolution Synchron is in that deck. I
forgot about that. That's actually This
was like an $80 card when it came out.
[music] Uh, we have the Black Wings.
Yeah, these are all from those legendary
decks. Peruia is a great card. I wonder
what those commons go for. I'm guessing
just a few cents because they're so
obtainable. But uh still I mean if you
buy that and you get a couple of hand
traps it's better than completely
nothing. I'll say that there's that
Brave Neos. There's Queen Bird MRL
Monkey Monkey Smackdown
Amazon. We have tribe infecting virus
for goat format. I actually going to
pull that out because of goat format. Um
we have a arcane. Does that look
different? Maybe it's just cuz it's a
common infinite impermanence is not bad.
Uh I'm feeling pretty bad about this max
C. I mean, we are getting a lot of
modern hand traps that are, you know,
they're they're easy ones to get. That's
the speed dual maxi.
Cyber Dragon. Okay, that's pretty cool.
It's not a goat format. Well, I guess
it's an Edison card. I can pull that out
for the Essen box. I'm just going to
pull out anything. Male level
catastrophe. This I think this was in
was this in Battle City Bonanza? I think
was in that pool. Not in uh Duelist
Kingdom Conquest, which if you haven't
checked that series out, go check it
out. That is a lot of old school cards.
So, if you're an old school card fan,
you're going to you're going to love
that. Effect Veiler number two, Fear of
the Dock. Uh, Roa, little goat card.
Just pulling out any goat cards. We have
Dark Magician Girl. Sure, that's pretty
cool. Dark Paladin, also pretty cool.
It's a common, but still awesome.
There's an Edison card, Harpy Lady, Wall
of Destruction, Dueling Special right
there. The Amazon Princess, a play set
of effect filler. I mean, honestly, not
horrible. Blue- eyes, white dragon,
blue- eyesed tyrant dragon, goat format,
lava golem. We have Red Eyes inferno. I
just dropped all these cards. 100 cards
is a lot. Harvey's Hunting Ground and
Embodiment of Apuffus. Okay, honestly, a
lot of like decent cards here, but that
just shows you how good the starter
decks have been recently. Like there's
just a lot of nice cards in the starter
decks. It was 100% starter deck bulk,
but luckily the starter decks have had
bangers in them, so we actually got
those out of there, which is nice. Now,
for mega starter kit number two, uh let
me know your thoughts after the first
one. Should you ever buy these? The
thing is like even if you could pick out
a few nice cards, if they're only 20
cent cards, it's like just buy the few
cards you need. Don't just hope you get
something because it seems like the high
roll is getting a good common from a
starter deck, which means not really a
lot of potential for you to pull
anything too crazy, right? And when you
open a mega box, whoa, wait, why are
there way more sleeves in this one?
Wait, look at this. That's like twice as
many sleeves. Okay, that's weird. That
is a lot of sleeves. Okay, that's like a
hundred probably. Next up, let's see
what our biggest stack of decent cards
is. We We'll keep them separate. Uh, how
do I do Okay, these are all completely
backwards. Let's just try to start
somewhere. Wow, these are everywhere.
This is going to be fun. Uh, XSaber
Gotams. We have uh looks like an upstart
Goblin. That's fine, dude. Every other
card is upside down. This is wild. Uh,
Bogger Knight, Emmer's Blade. I have a
PSA 10 of this. One of the two sold that
I had. It's very low pop, so go check
that out. We have a Bor of the Spear.
That's Edisonish. Blue eyes. Pretty
cool. Chaos Farm. Another effect. We are
good on effect veilers. I think there's
an old card. There's a Dark Crisis first
edition card. Actually, that's pretty
cool. Uh, Hayate, Dr. Lockbird's good.
Called by's good. Call the Haunted's
fine. Rosiple. Galaxy Cyclone. That's a
goat card. Or not go card, duelings card
as well. That's a pretty good card.
Ultimate Creature Destruction. Sakuratsu
armor. Old card. Doom. O. Doom Dog.
Octhos was a weevil underwood special
search lava golem in the dual links.
Then we have ah this is my ark indeed.
Don't you dare enter my virtual world. I
am the leader of Kaiba Corp and Setto
will pay for what he did to me. I love
Noah. I got to pull that out. Uh S of
Pride. Uh what else we got? Fire ant. We
have fire sorcerer. We have final attack
orders. Ghost beef. The beefing ghosts.
Uh bashing shield. Dust Tornado. We'll
pull that out. Upside down cards again.
Contact seed. Time machine. Period. I
don't think we're get Oh, wait. I
actually needed this card uh for
something recently. So, that's kind of
funny to see. Kyon the mage. It's kind
of a goaty card. Mage power is a goaty
card and you don't get a lot of the
commons. I mostly have the high rarity.
So, that'd be good to have two mage
power. Cool. Cyber Phoenix. That's
playable in goat. Same thing with
compuls warrior returning live sort of
chemistry in motion. Thunderhand.
You u lober spiker gyroid trade in. Oh,
there's goat desk koala. That's good. A
shadow ghoul can be played if you want
to get real real crazy with it. Dark
paladin.
I feel like the cards are not as good
this time. There's a lot of like little
ones. Deck Devastation for Edison if you
want to be really annoying. Pot of
avarice. Oh, wait. We got hollowos.
Our first hollows. Let's go. We have
Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon from
starter deck. We have Speed Duel Flame
Wingman. A Jesse and Ruby token. That's
cool. And then flying comic carry uh MRL
rare. It's pretty cool. And then the
rainbow overdragon. Okay, that was
pretty good. A lot more cards there. And
got some hollowos. That's pretty good.
Okay, number three. Let's give it a
shot. The starter decks from Target. I
mean, I am getting some nice bulk. Like
it's like high-end bulk, you know, like
we're opening all bulk and a lot of it
is like playable bulk, which makes it
not fully bulk, you know? So, it's like
high-end bulk, I guess. I don't even
know what to call it. It's like still
cheap cards, but you know, playable.
People could use them. Not bad overall.
Okay, Herbellum. Isn't that Edison? You
can use that in the extra deck. Uh
effect again. Upstart. Dude, we have a
lot of effect veilers. This is wild.
Uh trade in if you want to play uh blue
eyes, sage of blue. I I mean I have a
million of those. I don't really need to
pull them out. Uh fossil dig blue eyes.
I got to pull out any blue eyes though.
Ash Blossom's incredible. I mean, Prisma
is also Edison. Uh, dark magic expanded.
Odd ice fusion. Legend of heart. I kind
of forgot about that card. Uh, the fang
of critius. Uh, fortress is great.
Magician's rod is a good card. Ediqua,
we have my princess queen. Uh, Odd Eyes,
Gravity Dragon, Mirror Force, Ash
Blossom number two.
Very nice. We're getting some good stuff
in here. Break out the magical warrior.
There you go. Quick panic. Uh, pot of
avarice as well. I mean, kind of banger
bulk in here. I'm not going to lie. The
bulk has been way better than expected.
I think Konami's just been reprinting
everything as commons, and that's like
working out. Spear Reaver and then a
hollow Dark Rebellion exceeds dragon and
pot of a secret from Speed Duel and a
lure of darkness hol. Wait, this is
money. That's our best hit yet. Oh, Mats
of the Curse actually should have gone
from the other one. That's probably a$5
to$10 card. That's a secret rare uh from
Battles of Legend Chapter 1. This card's
really good in Edison and it's a nice
rarity of it. That's our best pull yet.
Wait, that's crazy. Drew Lockbird.
That's definitely We'll have values.
We'll compare all the values of each box
to see how we did compared to $15. We're
definitely winning on that one. Okay,
Monster Reborn is cool. Lone fire is
good. Formula Synchron, Imperm, Ash,
that's three Ash, by the way. A lot of
faded. Like by faded, I just mean like
not super sharp looking cards. Regi is
not goat, but I have to pull it out
because I love Ryeki. We could have like
half the blue eyes deck in here. Another
effect veil. Why not? Mausoleum of
white. We have a lot of the Blue Eyes
deck. A lot of it. Probably mostly from
the starter deck from the Blue Eyes.
Spirit Message L. I got to pull that
out. Valkyia and Effect Veiler. Cool.
Another effect Veiler. Uh Moonlight.
Moonlight's pretty good if you want to
play extra deck. Some modern stuff.
Another great stack. And that absolute
zero is actually a real money card.
That's the first card that legitimately
could be $10. All right, we got two more
mini or not mini boxes, whatever these
things are called. Starter kits. I'm not
going to lie, I was fully ready to say
these like the worst product ever. They
still are terrible cuz it's just a bunch
of bulk, but I'm impressed by the bulk.
The thing is you could just get like
really bad bulk, you know? I a lot of
it's speed duel, which isn't even being
played anymore. It's not like supported,
but you can still use the cards, but uh
yeah, it's kind of rough there. Uh
Crimson Dragon's a great great card.
Triple tactics uh Thrust, I should say.
This uh Spirit Dragon. Man, I should
have pulled out all the blue high stuff.
Now I'm regretting it. Ash Blossom, Book
of Moon, Mystical Space Typhoon, Koalos.
Dude, that was a lot of bangers in a
row. Nightmare Penguin. You can play
that and go if you want to play water.
Uh, Ash Blossom,
United We Stand, Divided We
uh, this is a nice card for who plays
this? Is it Hasselberry? I can't
remember from Wheel Anime Tournament.
Uh, Ash Blossom. We got Kellback,
Doomcow,
Mirror Wall, Blue Eyes. Dude, a lot of
nice cards in here that I like.
Uh, Tristan. All right. Necro Valley.
Probably like Aata 15. We have Swords.
We have Foolish Burial. We have Great
Adora for a little little goat format. A
water deck. We have Dark Magician. I
feel like Gear Golem could be like in a
niche goat deck. So, I'll pull that out.
The super super uh viaroid stealth
union. Scapegoat of course is a goat
card obviously for the format is named
goat phen gear freed cyberdun course
mobius that is a great one I don't have
a ton of those in the goat box
trapmaster we've got the little
windguard
carbonal warrior shadow ghoul skill
successor aven hydrogaton that is a fun
card but I don't know that what it would
be and maybe Edison or something kunai
with chain that's the oh pump princess
this is when I first got into dual links
this I I remember getting this card and
being like, "Yeah, that card's so
annoying." Uh, Bonding H2O, Dark Dr.
Franken Derp. We've got some hollowos.
Oh, and look at that messed up Sliper
just completely destroyed. We're getting
a heavy played cards right here. Dark
World Archives. That's a hollow. Messed
up Sliper. Mare, Rainbow Bridge, and DD
Unicorn Knight. So, we are getting like
Seems like they're putting in like five
holo/ rares like they would in some of
their other stuff, but they didn't in
the first one for some reason. Okay,
last box. $15 box. You could buy two of
these. You could buy one box of
magnificent monsters except for then it
would actually be $5 more dollars for
the magnificent monsters. Let me know
what you would want. I feel like players
you might even get more cards out of
these like that you actually use. But I
feel like most players have these uh
hand trap reprints at this point. So I
don't think you really need a lot of
these. But maybe you do if you're new.
Uh torrential. You obviously won't get
any. I mean the highest card we've
gotten is like 10 bucks at the max. So
you're obviously not going to get
anything like that. There's a wild
heart. Pretty cool. Blade Knight. Also
cool. I wish it was the error from the
collector's end. DD Crow I should say,
not warrior. Fair meteor crush. We have
Lone of Fire Blossom,
Express Roid, Burstinitrix, Floodgate
Trap, another dual link special. That
was so annoying with three zones. You're
just stuck face down. Sinister Serpent.
That's the Arata, but you know, it'll
work. You don't have to necessarily use
the Arata in the uh just playing around
with friends. Skill Dark Magician.
That's a goat card. Kea, pretty decent
extra deck card. Slimy disposition. Why
is he slimy? I guess because of the uh
revival gem. Unmasked dragon. What is
that from?
I don't remember that card. Not mass
dragon. Unmasked dragon. Steamoid. Oh,
gate guardian secret rare. I remember
spending um
$5 a piece on these for like 24 copies
when we did our TCG investments and the
Twitch chat won. Like somebody donated
and got to pick one and we spent like
hundred and some dollars on these. Now
they're like 90ents. Still cool though.
Dark World Puppeteer, the hollow harvest
feather duster. We got the Ancient Gear
Golem. Actually, pretty nice hits so far
on the hollowos. Generation next to game
on. Get your game on. Come on. You
better play your cards right. Game on.
Get your game on. We'll make the grade
and win this fight. Limited removal.
Very nice draw bird, Chiron. We'll make
the grade somehow. Yu-Gi-Oh GX
Generation Next. Dude, what a great
song. If only the show was a little
better. It's not horrible, but it it is
it's kind of rough sometimes. Uh, see
Koala. Wait,
this was a wheeled anime card as well. I
was thinking, do I need this for a goat
deck? No, it was anime. I used it. Wall
Disruption, Token Stampede, Sinister
Serpent, and Breaker. That's nice for
the goat stuff. Uh, Ultimate Divine
Beast, Soul Crossing, Obelisk, and Blue
Eyes. That's a lot of hollowos in here.
Polynosis. We got some nice bulky
hollowos in that one as well. So, we
ended up with a smaller stack on that
last compared to the other ones. But
overall, I'm actually kind of surprised
at how many nice, not nice, but like
okay cards are in there. If you just
look at these stacks out of the five,
which I did spend 15 time 5, it was $75,
I think, total. Uh, plus like a little
bit more for tax and stuff, but I got
this many cards, which is like that's a
pretty big stack of cards. That's
surprising. I thought I was going to
have like two cards that were like,
"Yeah, I found a Mystic Tomato in here.
That's pretty cool." But thanks to
Konami having so many nice structure
decks, all this bulk from those
structure decks seem to be going in
these kind of mystery boxes. So, while
it is not a recommended product,
spending $15 on cards you don't like,
you need to have some upside. The upside
here is finding a $10 absolute zero from
what I'm seeing when you could just go
buy all these cards for mostly under a
dollar each. And then you don't have to
buy the ones you don't really need,
which is this giant stack and probably
most of the stack. you probably already
have a lot of the hand traps or
whatever. Just buy the ones you actually
need. Don't buy the mystery box because
there isn't really any high-end
opportunity there. But I will say I am
pretty surprised that there were that
many cards that were at least worth
pulling out and keeping somewhere as an
okay card. So, if you go to Target, you
got a tough choice. Magnificent
monsters. Do you want to burn your money
most of the time or maybe get a
grandmaster? Or would you rather open
one of these where you get a bunch of
bulk, but it's a lot of cards you might
be able to use in decks at some point.
Hope you guys enjoyed this video. If you
