Video summary

The video documents the opening of Konami's first-ever English serialized Yu-Gi-Oh! set, titled "Magnificent Monsters," which features full-art designs and Grandmaster potential. The host begins by acknowledging the mixed reactions from the community, noting that while some players are upset because this set replaced the affordable Mega Tins reprints, he remains personally excited about the collector-focused nature of the product. He explains that each mini box contains only 18 cards, consisting of specific guaranteed items like three powerful re-imagined monsters, special extended art variants, and a chance to pull a serial-numbered Grandmaster Rare. The set is designed as a premium offering for collectors rather than a budget-friendly option for players, with a price point that reflects its high-end status and the potential value of rare pulls. As the opening progresses, the host highlights several key features and quality observations from the packs. He praises the inclusion of anime-inspired cards and new variants but expresses disappointment regarding some print quality issues, specifically pointing out foil bleed on certain ultra-rare cards and inconsistent corner printing on others. Despite these minor flaws, he finds the overall quality control to be better than previous sets. The host also discusses the rarity structure, noting that while most cards are Ultra Rares, there is a chance to pull Secret Rare upgrades or even the coveted Starlight 2.0 variants. He successfully pulls several exciting cards during the session, including multiple Zeus reprints and a Wind Unicorn parallel, showcasing the set's potential for both casual collectors and competitive players looking for specific tournament-level monsters. The climax of the video occurs when the host finally pulls the highly anticipated Blue-Eyes White Dragon as an Overframe card, sparking a moment of genuine excitement and celebration. Throughout the opening, he emphasizes that while the high MSRP might deter some players who need specific cards to build their decks, the set offers incredible value for those interested in full-art artistry and chase cards. He mentions his plans to continue opening more packs on his Whatnot stream to give away a massive amount of product, hoping to help viewers secure these serialized cards before they become scarce or expensive on the secondary market. Ultimately, the host concludes that despite the complaints about pricing and print quality, Magnificent Monsters is an awesome collector product that fulfills a long-awaited desire for high-quality English reprints and exclusive artwork.

It is finally here. Magnificent Monsters has hit the field. >> What's up, guys? We are back with another opening, and today we're opening the English full art Grandmaster Packs Magnificent Monsters. Now, before we get into it, we do have a giveaway. I'm giving away one mini box for this video that will be later selected on whatnot. So, make sure you like the video, be subscribed, turn on notifications. Let me know down below what you're thinking about Magnificent Monsters. We'll get into it a little bit, but of course, this is Yu-Gi-Oh and people are complaining, but myself, I am very excited. We're going to be opening up a few of the mini boxes today. Let's open it up and see if we can get our first ever full art English card uh from this set, I guess, cuz we've had full arts before, but we've never had one that also has grandmaster potential. So, obviously, if we get that, it'd be crazy. As we're going through, I want to shout out Frontline Games for allowing me to open up a few packs for them. Initially, I will be getting my own product and hunting for the Grandmaster as well. But to start off, shout out to Front Line. It is awesome that I get to open some stuff, and I'm super pumped to see what we get. And how cool would it be to pull a Grandmaster for Front Line. Okay, initial thoughts on these mini boxes. Let me raise this up a little bit. They're like super reflective. Like the the words don't really stick out that much. It's kind of weird. So, I I don't know how I feel about that, but I mean, who cares? It's the mini box, but it does explain how everything works on here, which we will check out real quick. Your favorite monsters re-imagined. Basically, it's saying retrained. A lot of these anime cards that we've seen in Limit Over Collection the Heroes. This set is Limit Over Collection: The Heroes in English, and we have a few different variations uh that they don't have, but it has the main idea from that set is in here, including like these new Dark Magician cards, etc. Prepare to experience a booster set like no other. These packs guarantee you specific types of cards in every pack. This box of magnificent monsters contains 18 foil cards in total. So, you're only getting 18 total cards out of one of these boxes. Keep that in mind when you buy one at Walmart. All ultra rare. Three powerful re-imagined versions of the most famous monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh. Or get a special extended art variant of the card or even a serial numbered grandmaster rare. Then you get three new cards seen on or inspired by the TV series or new variant art of tournament level monster cards. Let's get more TV series by the way. Come on, Konami. Three foil upgrades, four cards never before seen as foils, six reprints of popular and sometimes hard to find tournament level cards. Then there's all secret or starlight. We have two secret rare upgrades of the new TV inspired and variant art cards with a chance to upgrade to Starlight rare and one brand new boss monster, one for each special summon type, ritual, fusion, synchro, exceeds, pendulum, or link. So, that is kind of explaining to you what type of cards you're going to get. And let's not talk anymore and open it up. Okay, you can always expect that to be the case. If you don't get those 18 cards like they mentioned or that like those types specifically, then uh there was an error of some kind. Now, this I think is the uh the promo pack which has the secrets or the starlights, right? In the brand new boss monster. So, if we open this up, you get the Christian Hawk Fibax Prism. Or maybe it isn't because there's the Magnifica and then the IP Mascarina. Those were all secret rares. Oh, yeah. So, it was So, you get the two and the one. So, the promo pack is that bottom part, these three. The IP is pretty awesome to get that right away. That'll be a pretty good uh Starlight rare card to get. And a lot of like newer stuff. Pretty cool. This is a new set after all. Now, as we're going through, here is what the actual packs look like. First edition right there. Uh there are a lot of people that are upset about this set because this did replace the Megatins. Uh, if you remember, Megaatens were purely made for reprints for players. And it was a really good way to get a lot of cards that were super expensive in a very cheap way because you'd buy a super cheap Mega 10 or even a case of Mega 10 for like 150 bucks. You get like [music] 12 tens. You get three packs per 10. They had a bunch of cards in them. They had a reprints and all the cards that you needed to play or at least a lot of them were in the Mega 10. Let's go through this pack real quick. We have the Zeus. Uh, Zeus is one of my favorite cards. So, I will be looking for this in Starlight. How's the print look? It's looking okay. Hey, it's not looking terrible. Uh, we have the odd eyes pendulum dragon, four [snorts] heavenly dragons, and breakthrough skill. And I'm seeing a little bit of foil bleed, which I'm not excited about. So, these are all ultros right here. I don't want the foil bleed. So far, the quality control is better than I have seen, but the foil bleed needs to go away in my opinion. I really don't like it. Yeah. So, this set replacing the Mega 10 means it needs to cover a lot of reprints. Well, instead of getting I think you'd get like 13 cards a pack, you get about 39 cards and then maybe you'd get a promo occasionally on those meats. It depended on which year it was. Uh for only like $15 a 10 or less if you bought a whole case. And now you're buying a 30 uh it's $2 a pack so or $2 a card. So it's like $35 for 18 total cards. So it's like a lot more expensive per card. A bow. That looks beautiful. That looks really good. Uh Radiant Typhoon. Uh, Gorgon, the Gaga Magician, Gaga Magic. That is our first underframe of the day. This can be an overframe card. And then a Poseidra, the Storming Atlantan. So, those are all ultras. If you don't get an overframe or something like that, they're just ultra rares. So, just ultras. It feels uh like some of those other older uh reprint sets that they've had. Then we have an Underworld C. Well, okay, we're not focusing. Underworld Circle. Very nice. We have Paleozoic, Olaes, uh, Medius the Pure. We have Deco Talker integration. That's an underframe and Draco Tail Lucas. So, in like an average one, you know, you don't get all your, uh, you don't get a Starlight or anything. You get 15 ultras and then the three secrets. So, that would have been $35 plus tax. So, I think that's kind of the important thing. It's like the price is very high for players and I think the reprints aren't awesome for what we're needed. So, I get that complaint. Um, but in terms of being a collector product, this is a pretty exciting product for a lot of reasons. Obviously, the Grandmaster, the full art potential, the uh anime reprints, all the reasons we've been excited. This set is awesome for that. So, I think maybe the mistake was uh having this be a full replacement [music] of Mega Tins, making it not a 100% approval rating of product. However, that being said, this is an awesome collector product still, and you can pull Oh, I think I got our first Starlight. There's a wind unicorn parallel the Draco slayer the pendulum. Ew nice Zeus two in a row and [snorts] ooh a starlight in the 2.0 is hitting master spirit tech force pendulum ruler. Yeah. Yeah. It's a pendulum. It It's a pendulum. But I mean check out that 2.0 Starlight. Incredible. So as you can see the re or the uh the collector potential here is very cool. There's a lot of great collector cards. And with the cards being, you know, $2 per card, a little bit more expensive, it is definitely more geared toward collectors, which I know that Yu-Gi-Oh is such a big player-based game. Uh the players are not necessarily pumped about that because if you're not getting the cards that you need out of here, it's like, why are you spending so much victim sanctuary? Speaking of, I think I'm finally getting my card back. Uh supposedly, they've been telling me for a little bit, but I think I'm finally getting it back. I have no idea what the grade is. it has been a PCG because uh they were not going to charge me $1,000 to grade it. So, uh pretty awesome of them to actually grade it. So, hopefully we don't get an 8.5 center. That's what I'm hoping. Also, I should shout out Sassi Auto. If you do want to grab some of this set, if you're like, I like this set. I want to go for the cereal. I'm a collector, you know, or maybe I'm even a player that I need some of these cards, uh then definitely check out my link below. Use my code, get 5% off your order when you check this out. Deception of sinful spoils. We have the uh horoscope sorcerer and Neos fusion. It does suck that we can't we can't ever have a product that people are happy with. It really it occasionally we will get one but the limit over collection the heroes was such a high approval rating. I think because it was opened by mostly people who were looking for like you know big pulls and full arts and and uh you know collectorbased stuff and not as much for the players cuz it was a Japanese product. So, I'm guessing in Japan, obviously, they opened it to play. Uh, a lot of them did at least. So, there weren't as many complaints with Limit Over Collecting the Heroes. It was like amazing set. We love it. It's awesome. Uh, and now that it's gotten to the English player base where they're like, I'm trying to play all these cards, which some of these are playable obviously like the new Dark Magician cards and stuff, but I don't know that they're going to be like so meta-breaking that they they run the entire set for those people. So, I don't know. Let me know down below your opinions if you are one of those people that are not excited about monsters. I am not one of those people. I'm very pumped about this. I've been waiting for this for a long time. Hey, Bow and Fancy Ball. So, I guess all the ultras in this pack can end up being Wait. Okay, I guess I should read the back. I don't know that all of them can be in there, but some of them can be in there. The bosses or the TV inspired ones or whatever. Okay. Uh let's go next. I don't have to do any pack trick. I don't think I think I just go through it. Uh Alfred Azuna got an ultra rare in here. That's a good reprint. Uh we have the uh G guy cell phone subtraction and nightmare throne. That's a crazy card. This originally was an ultra rare and it was super expensive. It So this was a much needed reprint. So there's a couple good reprints in there. I'm seeing some things. That's good. That's good. That's exciting. We have Dark Ruler No More. Check out that Chibi card. I'm super excited for the Chibies. I know a lot of people are not big fans of the Chibies, but I know a lot of you guys also are huge fans of the Chibi. So I'm excited to finally get these. Uh, first sign of like pretty poor QC right there with that that corner being really bad. Uh, but other than that, I mean, this has it's definitely better QC than I've seen. Uh, the El favorite hero, Shining Flare, Wingman. Awesome under frame. We can't wait to get that in an over frame. And then Master of Chaos. Don't know that it's a needed reprint, but it fits well because there's like Dark Magician stuff in here and uh more collectors opening this. I think Master of Chaos will do [music] well. I don't know if that got a Starlight 2.0. But originally, I don't think originally got a Starlight, did it? It was in Battles of Chaos and like felt like it should have. There was one card that felt like it should have. I think it was Master of Chaos. So, that'll be an awesome Starlite 2.0 to grab, assuming it gets one. Uh, Malefic Force. We have Art Mage, Galatea, the Orchest Automaton. When this came out, this was a $20 card. Did this come out in the World Championship 2025 pack or was that the first reprint? I can't remember. But that was a that was a big card. The Kuribo multiply corners are not great on these, but El's at the White Forest. I just don't love ultra rare. That's just me. The the ultra rare text just blends in with a lot of cards. I'm more of a super rare guy or Starlight secret rare guy. If I had to go favorite rarities, those would definitely be the ones I would choose. Okay, next mini box. We've got uh Galaxy Eyes Antimatter, which don't forget about tomorrow's stream, guys. We will be streaming this. I'm giving away a ton of this product. So, if you're trying to get it cuz even with the complaining about some people not liking it, this set is going to sell really well and be hard to get because of the serialized cards and the full arts. So, if you want to get some for completely free, make sure you come to the stream tomorrow and whatnot. And [music] uh you will not regret it. There is a secret rare chibi. That's awesome. And then a uh Blackwing. I'm giving away a ton of mini boxes, an absolute massive amount of mini [music] boxes. Maybe some displays as well with like 10 mini boxes in them. So, make sure you are there tomorrow on whatnot at 3M. It's going to be absolutely insane. I cannot wait. I've been pumped for this. Fluff Wings, my guy from Dimension of Chaos. Every time we pulled Fluffle Wings back then, $2 card, $2 card, $2 card. I paid $2 per pack on Dimension of Chaos when I bought those five, six years ago and open them up. So, Fluff Wings was a free pack every time. It was really cool. Free. I mean, I had to sell it in fees and stuff, but you know, freeish. It was like basically the equivalent. Phantom of Ubell getting reprinted. There's so many good cards in here that are getting reprints. I guess they've just fallen out of the meta now and aren't as important because specifically like that was a chase card when I pulled it. You know, a lot of the cards like Uzuno was a chase card. This was a nice like common that's a nice upgrade. This obviously used to be a chase card. That's an alter of that. So, it's not like there are bad cards in here. It's just maybe not specifically the ones that are needed to be reprinted a lot of the time. Okay. Oricalo sword of ceiling. Did we get something? I There are no like collector rares or ultis in this. I don't think with medius. We have cyers contract witch that like looked like a collector rare first. Chimera the king of phantom beasts. All right, last pack here for this mini box. Okayoo. If you guys are enjoying it, do not to get for do not to get do not forget to hit the subscribe button [music] and uh follow me for a chance to see more of this. There will be more openings of this cuz we are going. Is that our first overframe? Wait, so where is it in the pack? It's the fourth card. Okay. Treacherous Trapple first overframe from Magnificent Monsters. Let's see what it is. Let's see if we can guess based on this. That looks like a pendulum. Oh, exceeds. Okay, we have the Utopia 39, Utopia, Emissary of Light. Wow, it says no. Number 39, Utop I can't read these cards. Number 39, Utopia Emissary of Light. Our first overframe from the set. Definitely better than a pendulum. I love the exceeds. I think they look really good. If you guys are like boomers, a lot of you guys are boomers like me that are like, "Ew, it's a black card, a white card. It's a, you know, a fusion, like fusion with a spell card, pendulum, link card. I I keep those away. That's too new for me. X is actually a really fun mechanic and I think early on it was actually very very fun and very I shouldn't say there wasn't like a crazy amount of stuff that was like overpowering you. So, these are very cool. Uh, and I am a fan. I think the way the black cards look like fits so well with a lot of the artworks and the colors that go with them. So amazing first pull. We got one Starlight 2.0 and one Overframe in the first four mini boxes. Now, because these are all in mini boxes, there might just be like no ratios with this kind of stuff. So, I have no idea like what to expect. And usually when you get this kind of special edition style, it's just randomness. But maybe there is like a full case odds or something where you're going to get certain things. But we'll just have to kind of figure it out through the openings because I will be doing quite a bit of this opening as much as I can. So, I get to open some for Front Line. Hopefully can open some for myself. We're going to be doing some on whatnot. Tomorrow night or afternoon is the start and we'll go into the nightstar in Underworld Circle. That's an awesome chibi. Ryan's going to need that one. PSA 10 when Starlight. But this is going to be awesome. So, make sure you're there tomorrow for all the giveaways. Like crazy amount of packs being given away, crazy amount of openings happening on the channel. Make sure you subscribe. New series are still going to be happening, but I will be pushing back like childhood Yu-Gi-Oh this week and the uh wield anime tournament. I'm getting a hiccup and I'm losing my voice from being at Pokemon Worlds all weekend. Uh we have Secretary and Dragon. We have Favorite Hero Flame Wingman, Underframe, and Tier Lance. By the way, shout out to everybody who said hello to me at Pokemon Worlds. Everybody was like, "Why are you here? You know, you're supposed to be at Yu-Gi-Oh Worlds, which but you know, Konami is not inviting me to Yu-Gi-Oh Worlds, guys. That's just not happening sadly." And then I'd have to like, you know, qualify otherwise. So, that's even less likely probably. So, yeah. Uh, I was at the Other Worlds. It was very fun. If you don't know, I have a Poker Rock channel. You guys can go check that out for my Pokémon content. Um, I've been doing a lot of that and, uh, recording some other stuff that'll be going up soon. Magnificent monsters, though. Back to the most exciting set in a very long time. I got no complaints personally. I I mean, I have complained a little bit about some of the print, and I'm not a huge ultra rare fan, but like that's not really a complaint. That's just like my personal opinion, but like the set seems pretty awesome. Okay, let's open the next one. Hopefully you guys are enjoying it and have your ch a chance to get some, whether it be your locals, Walmarts, whatever it is. Maybe ordered some pre-order on Walmart, Target, you know. Uh there's some other places I've had it pre-ordered. Sassiato, of course. Uh there's an IB secret rare. That's nice. And Orical. Still no secret out of those extra cards. So I'm wondering how hard it is to get from there. Woo! It's finally here. here. We've been waiting for this ever since Heroes in February. It's been like a six-month wait, I think. So, we've been waiting. There's a first penguin. That's I think a reprint. Uh Deception of the Sinful Spoils, actually. Did we ever get this card? I'm not sure. [music] Uh Synchro Emergency is an underframe and Red Eyes Black Meteor Dra. You're going to end up with a lot of uh foil cards after this, though. I mean, all foil, no commons. It's not like the old Megatens. This is completely different. Zeus number three, I think. Saraphin Papalon. I used this in my moth deck when I was, you know, memeing to make a moth deck. That was fun. There's a Zuna. Oo, our next overframe. So, another overframe. Star Junk Synchron Ultra Rare. So, this might be a good time. Well, it'll probably be a good time later when I hopefully pull a Starlight. We can do some differentials there. We'll talk a little bit about the differences and stuff like that because I think there's still some confusion on what's serial and what's not, what can be serial. So, I'll hopefully be able to go through that uh when we get a hopefully Starlight Overframe at some point. We have a Rising Scale Cyber Code and Evil Hero Neos Lord. What a cool artwork on that. Very awesome. Okay, let's do another mini box. Uh I don't exactly know. I'm kind of just opening packs, you know, just going through uh for our first opening. I don't want to like open too many today cuz we are going to be opening more tomorrow and the next day. I will hopefully be opening a full case of these at some point if I can or at least close. Uh but it is going to be hard cuz these these are not the easiest to get a hold of. Uh we have Galaxy Eyes, we have EB and Underworld Circle. That's awesome. Secrets. Still no Starlight out of those, but hopefully it'll happen. Magnificent monsters, what will you have in store for us? We have the visa. So, I guess the uh overframe is always the second to last card. We have Neos, Gladiator Beast, Deros, Sea Monster of Thesus, and Dark Magical Curtain. Everybody's favorite card for reasons. Everybody's not not my favorite card, but a lot of other people's favorite card. Uh ultra rare. This is an underframe. This can be an over frame, and it can be a Starlight overframe. These go by so fast because there's only the three packs and the like promoish packs. So it really is like a 10 feel, but there's only five cards instead of like 13. So it is much faster. 10 feel in terms of no like uh how fast they are. Not in terms of a lot of things. Uh anamatic we have dark cavalry. That does that look like double stamped or something? It kind of does. And yeah, like look compared to that. Look how much different that is. It might just be because it's on the fusion and it's very uh a lot more visible. Okay, another pack. If you guys are enjoying it, if you guys are excited, if you guys are getting some, let me know down below. If you're not getting some, of course, what not. Tomorrow, you're going to be able to get potentially a lot just by winning it. Ooh, this is the one we want as an overframe Starite. [music] I'm going to at least have to settle for that. I don't think I'm going to be able for Grandmaster. They're going to be too expensive. Uh unless I just pull it, which would be fantastic. But, uh, Starllight Overframe is going to be what I'm hunting for for the Dark Magic, uh, Dark Magician, the Pharaoh's Servant. Uh, so hopefully I will get that. Okay, let's do one more mini box here and see what we can get for this set. It's been a fun opening. I've enjoyed the heck out of opening this new set. [music] Let me know your thoughts down below. Are you one of those people that are like, I'm bummed out by the set? I mean, I think the price does suck a little bit, but it kind of doesn't matter. Like, I guess it matters for if you find it at retail. That's an awesome card. That's cool. [music] I'm going to need that in Starlight Nightmare Eyes Restrict. We have the Engage and the Balefic Force. Cuz if you find it luckily at Walmart and grab it, if if it was 25 or 20, you'd feel a lot better about only getting 18 cards. But when it gets to the secondary market, this set is just not going to stay that low because of the Grandmaster potential. So, in that regard, the MSRP doesn't matter. But it definitely does matter if you're uh if you're lucky enough to find it at a retail store or pre-order [music] it. So, I don't love that. that that price was so high, but they're kind of factoring in that grandmaster ahead of time. It would be cool if it was, you know, 25 bucks. I remember me and Paul were talking about it on his podcast before the like literally like a day before they they released MSRP and we're like, man, it's going to cost like $30. It's going to be insane. And it was 35 and I was like, "Oh, we were lowballing it." [laughter] Dark Roller, we have First Penguin Deception. And then everybody's going to say, well, they're worth more. It's like, yeah, I know. I know. I know they're going to be worth more cuz of grand masters, but for just grabbing one off the shelf, pre-ordering on Walmart stuff, it would have been cool if it was lower since you don't get a ton of cards, but it is going to be worthwhile just cuz like we don't really have these in English where we get a chance to pull such an expensive card because these grand masters are going to be tens of thousands for the good ones. The bad ones are going to be a thousand or whatever. But the really popular ones, dark magicians, the dark magical curtains, the blue eyes when that comes out in magical maestros, [music] um or magnificent maestros, whatever it is, uh those are going to be like ridiculously high and we don't have packs like that. So, we don't really know how to conceptualize what the MSRP should be for that. Like Magic the Gathering does crazy MSRPs on their collector boxes because they have the cereals and stuff like that. So, um it's kind of new for us in Yu-Gi-Oh. Uh last pack here. Let's see if we can get delinquent duos in here. Okay. I mean, I guess I'll be adding stuff for my goat box and ending with the pendulum. No, I'm just kidding. [laughter] Rips it in half. I'm not a card. I I don't rip cards, even if I don't love them. But that's a pretty awesome set. I'm excited. If you guys are excited as well, let me know down below. You can always let me know if you're not excited as well. But, uh, personally very excited. A lot of cards I really want in here, like the Chibi Zeus, the thousand, the nightmare eyes restrict, the full art cards, I think are going to be awesome. and we're going to do another Grandmaster hunt. Uh, I can't promise we're going to pull it like we did last time in in the Japanese set, but I will do my best and I would love to pull an English one.
