One of the Greatest Twists EVER?! | The Sixth Sense (1999) First Time Reaction
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
In this reaction video, the hosts revisit M. Night Shyamalan's 1999 psychological thriller *The Sixth Sense*, starring Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment. The film centers on Dr. Malcolm Crowe, a child psychologist in Philadelphia haunted by his past failure to save a patient, who takes on the case of Cole Sear, an anxious young boy claiming he can see dead people. As they watch, the hosts experience several jump scares, including the opening scene with a broken window, while debating whether Dr. Crowe's symptoms stem from hallucinations or genuine supernatural activity. They also observe how other characters consistently ignore Malcolm throughout most of the movie, subtly hinting at his condition without revealing it to the audience until later in the narrative.
The central mystery driving the film is gradually unraveled through these interactions and visual cues that suggest Dr. Crowe may be invisible to everyone around him. This tension builds as the hosts analyze the story's progression, noting how Cole attempts to help Malcolm accept the spirits haunting his home so they can move on peacefully. The narrative reaches its climax with one of cinema's most famous twists: it is revealed that Dr. Crowe was actually shot in the stomach earlier in the film and has been dead for the entire duration of the movie. His journey becomes a poignant effort to guide Cole toward acceptance before he himself passes away, resolving both his personal trauma and the boy's struggle with the ghosts surrounding him.
Beyond the analysis of the plot and its shocking conclusion, the video touches on broader topics such as *The Sixth Sense*'s inclusion in top 250 movie lists and directs viewers to a playlist featuring various genres like action, comedy, Marvel films, and Game of Thrones content. The hosts also mention an upcoming TV series reaction, possibly involving *Band of Brothers*, while encouraging the audience to engage with their channel by liking, commenting, subscribing, and supporting them on Patreon for access to uncut versions of future reactions. Ultimately, the video serves as both a deep dive into one of history's greatest storytelling twists and a call to action for viewers interested in exploring more film content across different genres.

Today's video's quite simple. We're
watching the six-time Oscar nominated
mind-bending thriller starring Bruce
Willis and what's that kid's name? I
wrote it down.
>> Haley Joel Osment.
>> Haley Joel Osment. This kid played in
some other titles that we've seen. What
else, baby?
>> The Boys.
>> Is that it? Just The Boys?
>> That's the only thing I've seen.
>> Yeah, I've never seen this movie at all.
I know Miss October has never seen this
movie. So, I'm excited to watch it. This
is a psychological thriller, which is
sort of your genre in a way.
>> know.
>> You love this stuff.
>> It was just an older movie, so I always
skipped it.
>> ID channel consumer over here. That's
what we got, so.
>> A little bit.
>> Yeah. Uh it was between this tonight or
Rush Hour. So, if you guys want to see
Rush Hour, definitely check back in on
the channel because we're going to be
watching um
is there two of those or three? We're
going to be watching them and I'm
excited to watch those also, but tonight
we wanted to get spooky one more time
before we watch the comedy. So, uh if
you guys want to see the full uncut
reaction, patreon.com/theoctobers,
uh hype the video, like the video, drop
a comment, let us know is there any
other movies that we need to react to,
which of course there are, so let us
know in the comments. And uh the little
meter is right at the end, so let's go.
Let's go, Bruce Willis.
>> [laughter]
>> This movie is so overdue for me.
>> It's time, right?
>> It's on our top 100 list, guys. It's a
big reason why we're watching it.
Mischa Barton's in this. You know her?
She played in The O.C. back in the day.
>> Um
>> I only watched that show because I
didn't have cable or nothing growing up.
I had the satellite. Or not the
satellite, antenna. What the heck?
>> [music]
>> There's a lot of big names I recognize.
I don't really know who they are.
>> That's a big one.
>> M. Night Shyamalan. Yeah, we need to
watch more of his stuff.
>> Signs. That's him.
>> That's a really cool basement, though,
and a really nice little wine cellar.
>> It's super noisy.
>> That is one fine frame.
>> How much does it fine frame like that
cost?
>> I never told you, but you sound a little
like Dr. Seuss when you're drunk.
>> [laughter]
>> I'd say it cost at least a couple
hundred.
>> In recognition of his outstanding
achievement in the field of child
psychology
>> So a child psychologist.
>> The city of Philadelphia proudly bestows
upon its son, Dr. Malcolm Crowe.
>> Oh, he's like MVP.
>> They called you their son.
>> Wow.
I mean that's a cause for celebration,
right? The city of brotherly love,
right?
>> Finally, someone is recognizing the
sacrifices you've made. That you have
put everything second, including me.
You have a gift that teaches children
how to be strong in situations where
most adults would piss on themselves.
>> I thought he was going to be a cop.
>> He takes a part-time cop gig around
Christmas.
>> [laughter]
>> Go watch our Die Hard reaction.
>> Oh, no.
>> Malcolm
>> Oh my gosh.
>> Someone went for the documents.
Get a glass shard.
>> Whoa.
>> Who is that?
>> You've broken a window and entered a
private residence.
>> know so many things.
>> Oh.
>> This guy was crazy.
>> Do you know why you're afraid when
you're alone?
I do.
>> What do you want?
>> What do you promise me?
>> Oh, he's like a patient, maybe.
>> even remember your own patients?
>> That nipple piercing is crazy.
>> You told me that I was having trouble
coping with my parents' divorce. You
were wrong.
You were wrong.
>> Oh my god, this is awful.
>> Just give me a MINUTE TO SAY I'LL LET IT
DADDY. END HERE FOR YOU.
>> OH MY GOSH.
>> Ben freaking. They call me freak.
Yeah, I'm a freak.
Vincent Gray.
I do remember you.
>> That poor lady is going to be
traumatized.
>> Y'all got to move.
>> [gasps]
>> YOU FAILED ME.
>> I DON'T know what you say to someone
like this.
>> I'm sorry if I was
>> It's scary.
>> If you just let me try. You just give ME
A CHANCE.
>> [screaming]
[groaning]
>> WHAT?
>> PLEASE,
DON'T talk
>> Oh my god, that'd be the worst place to
get shot, too, dude.
>> That was crazy.
>> Okay, so the next fall.
That's a cool little place to live
there, right?
>> I know.
>> That's different.
Cole, age 9. Parents are divorced, acute
anxiety, socially isolated, possible
mood disorder. Kind of sounds like that
other guy.
>> I know.
>> I guess we missed his recovery. That's
in the director's cut.
>> Yeah.
>> You know what I mean? Like the extended
version.
>> [music]
>> That's a sketch spot. Oh, never mind.
>> Jeez.
>> [laughter]
>> Sorry, guys. We got Lucifer in the
building today.
I'm just kidding.
>> My name is Dr. Malcolm Crowe. We were
supposed to meet today, but I missed our
appointment. In the olden days, in
Europe, people used to hide out in
churches.
>> I think you're supposed to be quiet in
there.
>> they hiding from?
>> It's not the library. It's church.
>> People that wanted to put them in jail.
I noticed your eyeglasses. They don't
have any lenses in them.
>> They're my dad's.
>> What were you talking about with your
soldiers when I came in?
>> De profundis clamo ad te, Domine. It's
called Latin.
Are you a good doctor?
>> I used to be. I won an award once.
>> It was like last year.
>> frame.
>> Yeah, but he's been through a lot. Like
with the recovery and stuff. It's
probably been a long year for him. Feels
like a whole different lifetime ago.
>> I'm going to see you again, right?
>> If that's okay with you.
>> [music]
>> Man, I keep trying to read that, but it
keeps cutting
>> I know. [clears throat]
>> away from it.
>> [music]
>> Out of the depths I cry to you, oh lord.
>> Yeah, but why in Latin?
>> I don't know.
>> That's the way you transfer West Blossom
to Valley Forge 24.
>> That's a funny place for the dog to
sleep.
>> I know.
>> Hey, your Coco Puffs are getting soggy.
Let me see.
Oh, honey, YOU GOT THE SPOT.
>> [screaming]
>> WHAT the heck?
Oh, they're all opened up.
>> What the hell?
>> And there's no way he could have done
that.
>> Something you're looking for, baby?
>> There's no way he did that.
>> He said Pop-Tart?
>> Right here.
>> Oh my god, he looks traumatized.
You'd have to be quicksilver to do that.
>> Anything bad about me?
>> I was not thinking something bad about
you. Got it?
>> Got it.
>> I'm not going to lie, dude. I think out
of any time I've ever had a jump scare
in a movie, that might have been my
worst. That shocked me in my heart
because I didn't I didn't know what type
of movie this was. Like I didn't know
that was going to happen, and that got
the hell out of me. I did not expect
that at all.
>> [music]
>> Hey freak, how'd you like that arm
around the shoulder bit? I just made
that up. I went with it. We're great
actors, too.
It's called improv. Yeah.
>> Aw.
>> Hey, baby.
How was your day?
You know, you can tell me things if you
need to.
>> What, like you're haunted?
>> Oh, you know what I did today? I won the
Pennsylvania lottery in the morning. I
quit my jobs and I ate a big picnic in
the park with lots of chocolate mousse
pie.
>> Why didn't you invite him?
>> I was picked first for kickball teams at
recess.
I hit a grand slam to win the game.
Everybody lifted me up on their
shoulders.
>> Well, in that case, I'm going to make
you some triangle pancakes.
>> That's a lot better than coming home and
crying about your day every day.
>> Mhm.
>> Want to play a game?
It's a mind reading game. I read your
mind. If what I say is right, you take
one step towards the chair.
If what I say is wrong, you take one
step back. If you reach the chair, you
sit down. If you reach the door, you can
go.
>> Hey, I like that game. That sounds fun.
>> When your mother and father were first
divorced, your mom went to see a doctor
like me and he didn't help her.
So, you think I'm not going to be able
to help you?
>> Yeah, go on towards the chair.
>> He said, "Damn, he's good."
>> [laughter]
>> You're worried that she said she told
him things, things she couldn't tell
anyone else.
You have a secret, but you don't want to
tell me.
>> Oh.
>> Your dad gave you that watch as a
present just before he went away.
>> He forgot it in the drawer. It doesn't
work.
>> You keep pretty quiet in school, but
you're a good student. You've never
really been in any serious trouble.
>> Uh-oh.
What did he do?
>> We were supposed to draw a picture. I
drew a man get hurt in the neck by
another man with a screwdriver.
>> Oh.
>> Everyone [music] got upset. Mom started
crying. I don't draw like that anymore.
>> How do you draw now?
>> People smiling.
>> That's sweet.
>> Almost.
>> So, he learned some mask his true
thoughts.
>> have meetings about rainbows. What am I
thinking now?
>> I don't know what you're thinking now.
>> You're nice,
but you can't help me.
>> Honestly, that was one of the better
scenes I've ever seen in a movie.
>> Yeah.
>> That little kid is haunting.
Unbelievable.
>> He's doing a great job.
>> Yes.
>> Damn, that has nice oven there.
>> I know.
>> Why is she taking me there?
>> He took me to the Cheesecake Factory one
time, though.
>> [laughter]
>> It's close.
>> If I was so similar, and the same things
hanging over their head, I think it
might be some kind of abuse.
Cole has scratches on his arm. I think
they might be fingernail cuts. Maybe a
teacher or a neighbor. I don't think
it's the mother. Maybe he's just a kid
who likes to climb trees a lot.
>> Dang, you're in trouble, dude.
>> I think she wants a divorce, brother.
Oh, she wants to split up.
>> I've been given a second chance, and I
don't want it to slip away.
>> Anna,
happy anniversary.
>> That was cold.
>> think he really did something to that
guy? You know, the guy who shot himself?
Maybe he really did screw his life up.
>> I don't know.
>> And he's trying to like fix it or
something?
>> Aw.
>> I walked this way to school with Tommy
Thomas Simo.
>> Is he your best buddy?
>> He hates me.
>> Do you hate him?
>> No.
>> Do you ever talk to your mom about how
things are with Tommy?
>> I don't tell her things, cuz she doesn't
look at me like everybody else. I don't
want her to. I don't want her to know.
>> Know what?
>> That I'm a freak.
>> I hate when he says that.
>> You are not a freak. Don't you believe
anybody that tries to convince you of
that. That's
>> You said the S-word.
>> Sorry.
>> That's what he got out of that.
>> Right.
We got any Eagles fans in the comments?
>> [laughter]
>> That's a little Orbeez light. Did you
see that?
>> Remember I told you we had some of that
in our pictures, but it was my dad's
cigarette smoke?
>> Come on.
Yeah, baby.
Save that for Patreon.
>> Oh, sorry. Sorry. Sorry.
>> It's too much over here. They're getting
this for free.
So, your dad lives in Pittsburgh with a
lady that works at a toll booth.
>> I wonder if she has to pay when she's
working.
I have a lot of questions about dad
today.
>> Sometimes we do things to draw
attention. For example, a person might
leave something on a desk for someone
else to find.
Free association writing is when you
take a pencil in your hand and you start
writing. And you don't look at what
you're writing or think about what
you're writing. You just keep your hand
moving.
>> They look kind of mad together. Well,
yeah, they divorced.
>> Words and thoughts start coming out that
you didn't even know you had in you.
Something you heard somewhere else or
feelings you had deep inside of you.
Have you ever done any free association
writing, Cole?
>> the damn baby?
>> I swear at someone, the burning, I'll
kill you.
>> Yes.
>> Kill all you bastards. Oh my gosh.
>> Upset words.
>> Did you ever write any upset words
before your father left?
>> I don't remember.
>> Think about what you want to get out of
our time together. If you could change
something in your life, anything at all,
what would it be?
>> Can it be something I don't want?
>> Okay.
>> I don't want to be scared anymore.
>> Mhm.
>> It must be cold in there.
>> I think he's haunted. I think he's just
cold because he's being haunted, right?
>> I mean, that's what I was thinking.
>> had his hand on the table?
>> Yeah, and like the the way those drawers
all opened up.
>> Yeah.
>> And she keeps turning the heat up, but
it's so freezing.
>> He's like, "It's unbelievable."
>> I don't know if I can deal with the
Amish today. You can't curse or spit or
anything around them.
>> I just figured [music] maybe he just
wanted to get out and get some air in.
>> I'm okay.
>> Well, do you think that maybe I should
stop by on my way back? Show you what I
got cuz that wouldn't be a problem.
>> No, I'm You know, I can see him on
Monday. Don't step in the horse manure.
>> Oh, thank you very much.
>> He took a shot, but it bounced off the
back rim. At least you tried, buddy.
It's kind of disrespectful though,
right?
>> Like, why don't you go punch him?
>> Cheese dick.
My girl loves cheese. I wouldn't call
him that.
>> [laughter]
>> Well, she buys some every time we go to
the store, literally. True or false?
>> Uh-huh, it's pretty true.
>> Can anybody guess what city was capital
of the United States of America from
1790 to 1800?
>> Philadelphia.
>> Right. Philadelphia is one of the oldest
cities in this country. A lot of
generations have lived here and died
here.
Can anyone guess what this building was
used for 100 years ago?
>> Hospital.
>> They used to hang people here.
>> Damn.
>> Mhm, that's not correct. Um, where'd you
hear that?
>> They pulled the people in crying and
kissing their families bye. People
watching spit at them.
>> Cole, this this building was a legal
courthouse.
>> Oh, there you go.
That makes perfect sense.
>> Lawyers, uh, lawmakers.
>> They were the ones that hanged
everybody.
>> I don't I don't know which one of these
guys told you that, but uh, they were
just trying to scare you.
>> I don't like people looking at me like
that.
>> Woah.
>> Stop it.
>> Always having a crash out.
>> You're a stuttering Stanley.
>> Abraham Lincoln?
>> You talked funny when you went to school
here. You talked funny all the way to
high school.
>> Oh.
How did you
>> Stop looking at me.
>> Who have you been speaking to?
>> Stuttering Stanley.
>> Oh, this is crazy.
>> So, he knew about his something in his
childhood.
>> STUTTERING STANLEY.
>> SHUT UP, YOU FREAK.
>> OH.
>> YEAH, that kid's tapped into all all of
spirits and stuff, I think.
>> You like magic?
>> Mhm.
Observe.
>> [sighs]
>> Magic penny. When I do my little magic
shake, and now it's in my right hand. I
do another little shake, and
right there in the vest pocket. Right
back in the left hand, where it started.
>> That's a good one.
>> Man, it was in the hand the whole time,
brother.
>> He just kept the penny in that hand the
whole time.
>> Yeah, that wasn't slick at all.
>> I thought so.
>> I didn't know you were funny.
>> Malcolm, sit your cute butt down and
listen up.
Anna is like my sister, and you better
make her happy. And I'm not talking
about no
"Mhm, this tastes like real butter" kind
of happy. I'm talking about
twirling around like a mental patient on
a mountaintop kind of happy.
>> [laughter]
>> She was having a good time, wasn't she?
>> She knew she loved you from the first
time she met you on the street.
>> On the street?
>> She'd do anything for you. I love you
guys.
>> So, the wedding video just plays?
>> [music]
>> Oh, she's taking Zoah.
There's that door you can't open.
>> Then he did the magic shake
all the way back to the hand it started
in. That's stupid.
>> [laughter]
>> Sorry, that took me a second. That's
hilarious. He actually liked it.
>> I want my penny back. [music]
>> Dang, he doesn't get invited places.
Last time was a Chuck-E-Cheese party a
year ago. He hid in one of those purple
plastic tunnels and didn't come out.
>> Chuck-E-Who?
>> Cheese. It's a kids' place.
>> It's a horrible place. Never go.
>> so bad.
>> Like, "Hiya, Georgie. We all float up
here."
>> You know.
>> So, It's like matter how serious your
life is, if kid sees a balloon, he's
going to chase that damn balloon.
[music]
>> Especially if a spiral staircase, cuz
how interesting is that?
>> Open this door, please. Come.
>> What?
>> I can't breathe. I swear on my life I
didn't take the master's horse.
>> The master's horse?
>> Maybe this used to be like a plantation
house. I didn't see the outside of it.
>> My dad didn't invite him.
>> Yeah, he's got to throw him in those
doors, that bully.
>> Is there something you want to see in
there?
>> No.
We're going to put on a pretend play.
>> Okay.
>> It's called locked in the dungeon.
>> Mhm, DON'T PLAY THAT.
>> OH, MAN.
>> WOW.
>> [screaming]
>> DAMN, THEY'RE DOWNSTAIRS, it sounds like
WWE Smackdown.
They can't even hear them. She did
though. SHE'S GOT SUPER HEARING.
>> OH MY GOSH.
>> IS HE OKAY?
>> OH. [sighs]
>> What in the world?
>> I'd be so mad if those kids put my kid
in the closet.
>> There's some cuts and bruises on your
son.
>> Isn't that
Jamon?
>> Yeah, those are from sports.
>> Is that him?
>> I think so. He made a cameo.
>> You think I hurt my child?
>> She's a social worker with the hospital,
and she's going to ask you a couple
procedural questions.
>> Once upon a time, there was this young
prince, and he decided that he wanted to
go for a drive. They drove so much that
he fell asleep.
>> This story kind of sucks, bro.
>> I know.
>> And he woke up, and he realized they
were still driving.
>> Damn.
>> This was a very long trip.
>> Dr. Crow?
>> Yeah, super long.
>> You haven't told bedtime stories before.
>> [laughter]
>> We have to add some twists and stuff.
>> Yeah, they can't drive the whole time.
>> And then they ran out of gas, but all
the gas stations were closed.
>> Maybe they did run out of gas.
>> What the
Okay, so
>> about why you're sad.
>> You think I'm sad?
>> Your eyes told me.
>> Not supposed to talk about stuff like
that. I wouldn't want to share with you
if you don't want to share with me.
There was a man
He worked with children. He loved that
more than anything else. And then one
night he found out that he made a
mistake with one of them. He couldn't
help that one. And he can't stop
thinking about it.
>> So it haunts him.
>> He's not the same person that he used to
be. And his wife doesn't like the person
that he's become. And then one day
Malcolm meets this wonderful little boy.
He reminds him a lot of the other one.
And Malcolm decides to try and help this
new boy cuz he feels that if he could
help this new boy be like helping that
other one, too.
>> Aw.
>> I think the other one saw some ghosts.
>> He might have.
>> I want to tell you my secret now.
>> Ooh, that gave me chills.
>> I see dead people.
>> He's like Shorty.
>> In your dreams.
>> That explains all those voices.
>> Walking around like regular people.
>> That's the worst.
>> They don't know they're dead.
>> How often do you see them?
>> All the time.
>> Oh my gosh, it is so cold in this room
now.
>> I know.
So he can't tell who's real and who's
not?
>> We stay here until I fall asleep.
>> Of course.
Theory confirmed, everybody. Theory
confirmed. This man is seeing all kinds
of ghosts.
>> Suffering from visual hallucinations,
paranoia, medication, hospitalization
may be required.
>> You're not listening.
>> And I'm not helping him.
>> Aw.
>> Did we ever catch the dog's name?
We didn't, did we?
>> I'mma to him laundry.
He got slashed in that closet?
>> I guess so. This is the first time she's
seen this?
>> Mhm.
>> Yeah, I I'd like to talk to you about
your boy and his friends keeping their
goddamn hands off my son.
>> Tell them, Mom.
>> I know.
>> Those little psychos, they were just
standing there like so indifferent.
>> it was them, not whatever horrors was in
that closet.
>> Well, wouldn't you?
>> Yeah, but you know what I'm saying?
Like, that's a straight slash from a
demon.
>> Oh, that was me as a kid. I was scared
to death to go pee.
>> Really?
>> Hell yeah. I saw this thing called Tales
from the Crypt when I was a kid, and
that thing used to live in my closet in
my dreams.
>> Oh my god, it's going down right now.
Tearing the kitchen up. I see the
drawers open.
>> I love this slow progression. Like, the
movie starts and it seems like a very
normal movie, but it's slowly
introducing this supernatural element.
>> Oh, dinner is not ready.
>> Who are you?
>> HAVE YOU GOT ANY UNDERWEAR ON?
>> UH-OH. OH!
>> [screaming]
>> LENNY, YOU'RE A TERRIBLE HUSBAND, LENNY!
>> OH my god.
>> Maybe she used to live here?
>> Yeah, she had a horrible life.
>> Oh, that's why he does those Latin
spells.
>> Yeah.
>> He's like doing a hex or something.
>> Look at all that.
Wow.
That poor baby. Like, I just realized
what he's going through. That is insane.
That's like the stuff your worst
nightmares are made out of.
>> Tommy Tassimo acted in a cough syrup
commercial. He said everyone was
self-conscious and unrealistic. He said
the place sucked big time.
>> This Tommy The sounds like a real punk.
>> I agree.
>> Cole, I was really interested in what
you told me at the hospital. I'd like to
hear more about it.
>> You okay, buddy?
>> Oh.
>> Oh, cuz the court the courthouse.
So he sees that.
>> Yeah, he sees everything.
>> That's why he said that. I thought he
just got told that. I didn't know he
could actually see them.
>> I don't see anything.
>> Sometimes you feel it inside
like you're falling down real fast. Do
you ever feel the prickly things on the
back of your neck and the tiny hairs on
your arm, you know, when they stand up?
>> Yes.
>> That just happened.
>> That happens to me all the time.
>> Mhm.
>> It gets cold.
>> So they're mad at your house?
>> I don't see anything. Are you sure
they're there?
>> Please make them leave.
>> I'm working on it.
I mean, yeah, I thought that that
information came through word of mouth.
I didn't know he was seeing this violent
imagery.
>> Yeah.
>> Of people like in the midst of their
deaths.
>> No wonder you're drawing a screwdriver.
>> Xanax, yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> He's holding it together better than I
would, though.
>> Yeah.
>> Mommy, Daddy.
My throat hurts.
>> Oh, that cough syrup commercial.
>> [laughter]
>> PediaCare [music] cough suppressant,
fast acting.
>> There you go.
That was kind of wild, right? He just
threw something at the TV.
>> I saw what was in your bureau drawer
when I was cleaning.
The bumblebee pendant. Why do you keep
taking it? It was Grandma's. You know,
what if it broke?
>> Do you cry cuz you miss Grandma so much?
>> Sometimes people think they lose things
and they really didn't lose them, it
just gets moved.
>> So, did you move the Bumblebee pendant?
>> Oh.
>> Yeah, good luck explaining this one.
>> Yeah, I'll just be like, "Yeah, I did
it."
>> Maybe someone came in our house, took
the Bumblebee pendant out of my closet,
and placed it nicely in your drawer.
God, I am so tired, Cole. I'm tired in
my body, I'm tired in my mind. I need
some help. If we can't talk to each
other, we're not going to make it. I
won't get mad, honey. Did you take the
Bumblebee pendant?
>> No.
>> You've had enough roast beef. You need
to leave the table.
>> Go!
>> If I walked into the kitchen and my son
opened every single drawer that quick, I
really think that would stick with me.
And I don't
>> That was like a 70s, dude. Yeah.
>> I see where my dad keeps his gun.
>> HELL, NO. OH!
>> OH MY GOD.
>> Poor kid.
>> If you're not very mad, you're sleeping
in your bed tonight.
>> Mhm.
>> I'm not very mad.
>> Aw.
>> Baby, why are you
shaking?
Please tell me.
Oh.
>> [gasps and sighs]
>> Well, I guess we've just seen
Poltergeist. But if I walk in and I see
all those cabinet doors open, I'm
immediately thinking Poltergeist.
>> Right. That poor little boy's carrying
so much cuz he just thinks no one won't
believe him.
>> Diamonds and an actual caliber of
Burmese sapphire.
>> You uh
got anything a little plainer?
>> [laughter]
>> Do you want a plain ring to go with your
plain fiance? Is that how it is?
>> [laughter]
>> You're like a Burmese sapphire all by
yourself.
>> Look, she wants to throw up.
>> I know.
>> I imagine that the woman who owned it
loved a man that she couldn't be with.
>> Strange.
>> Did he have wavy hair and chestnut eyes?
>> Huh?
>> I think maybe when people own things and
then they pass away, part of themselves
gets printed on those things.
>> Ooh.
>> Happy birthday.
>> From you?
>> Mhm.
>> Who's this slick dick getting all cozy
with?
>> A coworker, apparently.
>> First of all
>> least he got a book.
>> Took it out of your Christmas bonus.
>> That is perfect, Anna. Thanks.
>> Oh my goodness.
>> I want to be able to talk to my wife
again the way we used to talk to each
other, like there was no one else in the
world except us.
>> Oh. You did that?
>> I can't be your doctor anymore.
>> What is going on?
>> to my family. Bad things happen when you
do that.
>> Man, you can't leave this kid.
>> He needs you.
>> Don't give up. You're the only one who
can help me. I know it.
>> I can't help you.
Someone else can help you.
>> Aw.
>> Dr. Crowe, you believe my secret, right?
>> I don't know how to answer that, Cole.
>> Yeah, why don't you just rip the kid's
heart out and stomp on it?
>> Yeah, do your penny trick. We'll laugh
this time.
>> How can you help me if you don't believe
me?
>> You know why you're afraid when you're
alone? I do.
It's cold in here.
Why are you crying?
>> So, he had the same problem.
Damn.
>> You won't believe.
>> It's cold in here.
>> [panting]
>> When I was a kid, I had this blood test
done and I threw up chili cheese fries
all over this male nurse.
>> Oh, who's that male voice? So,
basically, that's why he
rewound it?
>> Just give me a minute, okay?
>> Okay.
>> Yeah, cuz like whose voice was that?
>> Cuz the kid sounds like a kid.
>> Right. At first, I thought he was
comparing two different patients.
>> [music]
>> Damn, that thing just keeps going, don't
it?
>> Don't it look bloody?
>> Right.
>> [music]
>> I'll just sit here.
>> You don't want to die?
>> [music]
>> That picked it up so clear.
>> I was about to say he's working that
machine.
>> Yeah. All he had to do is turn up the
volume.
>> [laughter]
>> You want to ask me questions now?
Something happened, didn't it?
>> Do you know what "Yo no quiero morir"
means? Means I don't want to die.
What do you think these ghosts want when
they talk to you?
>> Just help.
>> That's right.
That's what I think, too. They just want
help, even the scary ones. I think I
might know a way to make them go away.
>> So, help them?
>> Listen to them.
>> That's going to be a lot.
>> He sees a lot.
>> What if they're just angry and they just
want to hurt somebody?
>> I don't think that's the way it works.
>> How do you know for sure?
>> I don't.
>> Yeah, you're just pulling straws out
your ass over here. [laughter] Like he
figured out about these things 5 minutes
ago.
He's like, "I think I know their
motives."
>> HEY! [screaming]
HEY!
>> What's happening?
>> Go!
>> Man, you better stay in your tent.
>> Was that his mom?
>> I think so.
>> Oh, I thought that was another ghost.
Sorry.
>> Is someone hurting you?
I'll take care of it. Call if they're
hurting you. [laughter]
>> Aw, she's having a bad nightmare.
>> Now you sleep now.
>> [sighs]
>> I'm mad.
Get inside. Hurry up.
>> Stop, you're scaring me.
>> You're scaring me.
Whoa!
>> WHO IS THAT?
OH, NO.
She's still under there.
>> Maybe he just needs to help her.
>> I'm feeling much better now.
>> Poor girl, I think she took something
she wasn't supposed to or she got
poisoned.
>> to tell me something?
>> He's like a little Winchester.
>> He's going to be like a superhero. He's
going to like save I don't know I don't
know how to fix it.
>> to be a celebrity in the ghost world,
ain't he?
>> Yeah. Maybe they just get to like RIP if
he helps them.
>> Yeah, helps them cross over.
>> Mhm.
>> She came a long way to visit me, didn't
she?
>> I guess she did.
Can you get some water?
>> That's your sister.
>> I just can't imagine a child
>> girl?
>> years. How many doctors?
>> I think it was six.
>> This movie is depressing and dark and
ominous and
>> Oh, yeah.
>> anxiety inducing.
>> Don't go home, okay?
>> I definitely won't.
That is a super shiny door handle.
>> I know.
She said she felt better now, I guess
cuz she's dead and she had like a
terminal illness.
>> [music]
>> Holy
>> That kid's going to have a heart attack
by like 12.
>> [music]
>> I wonder what this is.
>> [music]
>> I was thinking like an item of some sort
of hers because that what that lady said
at that store.
>> Mister,
are you Cara's daddy?
It's for you.
She wanted to tell you something.
>> I would be scared to give him that
because I don't know what's in that.
Ooh.
>> Oh, no, here he comes.
>> Well, this is creepy as hell.
>> Would you like to dance? We can dance
for a little bit and if you don't like
the way I dance, you can kick me.
>> Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
>> I don't know. I don't know I don't know
what I'm thinking.
She's getting poisoned?
>> She's getting poisoned.
What is that?
>> It ain't good.
And they said the little one just fell
ill.
>> It's time for lunch, Cara.
Feeling much better now.
That's so great, honey.
>> He Yeah, he's going to lose his whole
family over this. This is insane.
>> Wow.
>> What is that called? Munchausen syndrome
or something?
Or is that when you
>> called.
>> I don't know what it is. Maybe that's
when you make your kid think they're
sick, but when you actually make your
kid sick, what is that called?
>> A demon.
>> [music]
>> You were keeping her sick.
>> Mhm.
>> [music]
>> I see how he helps now.
>> That is psychotic.
>> Is Cara coming back?
>> Not anymore.
>> They're calling for the stable boy.
>> We have to hurry.
>> Who were you talking to?
Oh my god, this movie is crazy.
>> practicing my lines.
>> You never know who's a ghost and who's
not.
>> I know.
>> You know, when I went to school here,
there was a terrible fire in this
section of the theater.
>> Oh, he knows.
>> Yeah, I know.
>> What's going to happen to that lady?
>> Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
>> Yeah.
>> Only he who is pure of heart can take
the sword from the stone.
>> Excalibur.
>> He's a stable boy. Cleans up after the
horses.
>> Silence, foolish idiot.
>> [laughter]
>> Was King Arthur a real guy? Let us know.
It's an age-old debate.
>> [screaming]
>> This is so relevant after what we just
watched.
>> Yeah, we just watched Monty Python and
the Holy Grail. Go check it out.
>> They probably have the same horse
budget.
>> Yeah.
Good for this kid though. He's on the
upswing. Wife's looking better.
>> [applause]
>> He said, "Life used to be really, really
hard and then I met Bruce Willis."
>> Well, I think it's he like closed that
girl's book for her.
>> Yeah.
>> I thought Tommy Thomas seemed all sucked
up.
>> Yeah.
>> He did.
Yeah, he had no emotion.
>> Well, he was flat.
>> He had more emotion in that commercial.
>> Yeah. [laughter]
>> I got an idea how you can talk to your
wife. Wait till she's asleep, [music]
then she'll listen to you and she won't
even know it.
>> Sometimes kids make it so simple though.
>> I know.
>> You're not going [music] to see you
anymore, am I?
>> I think we said everything we needed to
say.
>> Maybe we can pretend like we're going to
see each other tomorrow.
>> That's like him and his mom.
>> Okay.
Aw.
I'll see you tomorrow.
>> That'd be so hard to just go your
separate ways.
>> I feel like he needs more therapy though
for multiple years.
>> Yeah, this felt a little short-lived,
didn't it?
>> Yeah. [clears throat]
>> It's like, "Well, you had two good days
in a row. You've graduated the program."
>> You got the sword out the stone, you're
all good.
>> Geez, I hope nobody got hurt. You're
very quiet. You're mad at Mr. Play,
aren't you? I have two jobs, baby. Like
if anything to have been there.
>> I'm ready to communicate with you now.
Tell you my secrets.
>> What is it?
>> You know the accident up there?
>> Yeah.
>> Oh.
>> Someone got hurt.
>> Oh.
>> A lady.
She died.
>> This movie is twisted, man.
>> Where is she?
>> Standing next to my window.
>> Ah.
He could [snorts] write obituaries, for
real.
>> Cole, you're scaring me.
>> Ah.
>> They scare me, too, sometimes.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> You see ghosts, Cole?
>> They want me to do things for them.
>> They talk to you?
>> They're the ones that used to hurt me.
What are you thinking, Mama?
>> I want to know, too.
>> You think I'm a freak?
>> I would never think that about you,
ever.
>> Well, you're gifted, obviously.
>> He could be the best detective ever.
>> Yeah.
>> Cuz he has a sixth sense.
>> Grandma says hi.
>> Ah.
>> She says she's sorry for taking the
bumblebee pendant. She just likes it a
lot.
>> Cole, that's very wrong.
>> She thinks he's making all this up.
To make an excuse for the bumblebee
pendant.
>> Please.
>> She wanted me to tell you she saw you
dance when you were little. You and her
had a fight right before your dance
recital. You thought she didn't come to
see you dance. She did.
She hid in the back so you wouldn't see.
She said you were like an angel.
>> Oh.
>> You came to the place where they buried
her.
Asked her a question. She said the
answer is every day.
What did you ask?
>> Oh my gosh.
>> Do I make her proud?
>> I would talk more, but I don't want to
uh
you know what I'm saying?
I have my voice trembling.
>> I know.
>> That was so sad.
That man had some facts when he was
ready to tell his mama what was going
on.
>> Now she believes him now. She has to.
>> Thank god.
>> And
I promised Anna that I'd try not to
embarrass her.
I'll leave that to her mother.
>> Anna,
>> [clears throat]
>> I miss you.
>> I miss you, too.
What is it? What
>> Why did you leave me?
>> I didn't leave you.
>> I see people.
They don't know they're dead.
>> How often do you see them?
>> All the time.
>> Oh, no.
>> Best twist in the freaking world.
>> Oh, so he thinks he's dead now?
>> This dude's dead. He got shot in the
stomach and died.
>> That's why his wife is like ignoring
him.
And table for one, oh my god.
>> see what they want to see.
>> I was thinking this like 30 minutes ago
or 40 minutes ago.
>> Me, too, but I don't want to be sound
completely insane.
>> want to ruin anything for you.
>> Come on.
>> Have you noticed the whole movie he
hasn't conversated with anyone other
than the little boy? Everyone's ignored
him.
>> Yeah, you got to confront what's in
there.
>> [music]
>> Oh my god, this movie is nuts.
>> So when he's visiting her, she's cold?
>> That poor lady, oh my gosh.
>> Oh, no.
Oh.
>> Has his back been like that the whole
movie? Have we seen his back all movie?
>> He's been wearing like a jacket.
>> To say it or hurt anymore.
>> So I'm guessing the kid knew the whole
time.
>> I'm assuming he knew. He might not even
known, honestly. I don't know. I'm
assuming he did know, but he might not
have.
>> I can go now.
Just needed to do a couple things.
Needed to help someone. Think I did.
[clears throat]
And I needed to tell you something. You
were never second.
I love you.
>> Good night, Malcolm.
>> Good night, sweetheart.
>> Oh.
>> [music]
>> You see my I don't want to cry face?
>> [snorts]
>> That was so tragic because they'll just
never be together.
>> This was honestly one of the most
heartbreaking movies I've ever seen.
Crazy.
>> Really, the most positive part was when
he became King Arthur.
>> All right, guys. M. Night Shyamalan is
unbelievable. I love that movie. Like, I
love the movie not only because the
incredible twist at the end and
obviously
you know, this is a psychological
thriller, kind of like a scary movie in
a sense, but not only that, it ended up
being one of the most tragic love
stories I've ever seen.
>> Yes.
>> And I'm not really someone who like, you
know, goes out of my way to try to get
my heart broken in movies like that, but
this one was sad. This one was like a
gut punch. I was like, "Oof."
Hurt. It just hurts because like they
were having the high of their life. You
know what I mean? I mean, they were
really like
>> He just got an award.
>> And it's not like they were out being
shitty people celebrating their
robberies. You know what I mean? I mean,
they were really
>> [music]
>> by all accounts trying to do it the
right way.
>> Yeah.
>> And unfortunately, you know, it just
didn't work out in the end, which is
>> [music]
>> tragic. The little boy in this movie was
just the cutest.
>> and he was a phenomenal actor.
>> Yeah, he was great when he
>> Yeah. So cute. So iconic. I feel like
I've seen that kid so many times like as
a kid, you know? And it's cool to
finally see that role in The Sixth
Sense. I've never watched it. I've I
remember commercials would come on when
I was younger and I would be way too
scared to watch them.
>> Yeah.
>> Cuz for some reason they were super
dark.
>> Well, when he said the whole I see dead
people thing, I knew that that was from
this movie, you know? And what really
clicked in my mind when I really started
to put the end together was when he said
a lot of the times the ghosts don't
realize they're ghosts and they only see
what they want to see. And then he's
like, "I don't see it."
>> [laughter]
>> And I'm like, "Oh There it is."
But I thought that the twist was
unbelievable. It was honestly
>> It was like a seven twist.
>> Yeah, but better. Like this might be the
best twist I've ever seen in a movie.
This might be the ultimate twist.
Is this the best twist in movie history?
And if there's movies with a better
twist than this, don't
>> then we're going to be sitting there
expecting a twist.
>> Just let me know if this is or isn't.
You don't have to be specific. Yeah,
don't suggest any movies with
psychological twists cuz I don't want to
be looking for it. Um but yeah, this
movie was just so well done. And the
thing about this movie is like a lot of
the times a movie
is very like daunting, you know? Like a
movie can feel overwhelming and then it
can just be like a lot going on, but
this was just another movie where it
really just came down to like a bunch of
still shots, talking head shots,
>> [music]
>> um
you know, just very clean shots in the
environment, the gloomy landscape and
the environment really like helped tell
the story. And I think that's what makes
these movies so phenomenal was because
it [music] just didn't really do too
much.
>> Yeah.
>> And it was just the perfect slow burn. I
think that's what made this movie so
masterful to me was like
>> It was a slow burn.
>> Yeah, like they didn't really show the
ghosts or anything like that. They sort
of let your imagination
>> But when they did show them, they made
it impactful and they were scary and
honestly when you actually put yourself
in the kid shoes where you're carrying
all these like you don't know who's
dead, who's Well, I mean you can pretty
much tell who's dead because their like
heads are like
like deformed and stuff.
>> yeah.
>> But like, you know, when you're living
that life that's so much for anyone to
to but much less a kid
>> Yeah.
>> He's going through a divorce.
>> And who knows how long this has been
happening. Like his entire reality has
been shaped around this idea that, you
know, people are walking around seeing
dead people and if you're not, then
you know, you're probably the weird one.
And then he turns out It turns out that
he's the only one seeing it. Like could
you imagine the mental
>> [music]
>> gymnastics that it would take to try to
make sense of that? It'd be insane.
>> Cuz as a kid, I used to think like we we
all had the same internalizations.
Cuz I don't know like like if I looked
lame or something or if I looked like
goofy, I always thought every person
noticed that cuz I was a kid.
>> Yeah.
>> So if I was a kid, I would probably
think everyone else is seeing what I'm
seeing, too.
>> Yeah.
Yeah, and then just trying to
explain or trying to like make excuses
or trying trying to give a reasons for
like your outbursts or your behavior
problems that you're going through. You
have no chance to be any any type of
normal.
I mean, he literally sleeps in a tent.
>> But think about that dad, you know, when
he gave that tape.
>> Yeah.
>> What do you think the dad thought? How
did you even know about this? Like who
are you even?
>> the dad was just so emotionally
overwhelmed by the situation that he
didn't even think. And then once
>> to ask none of that.
>> Yeah, and then once he uh saw the tape
and then he got his mind
you Well, he got his sights set on the
mom. There was just no questions in his
mind. But I'm sure he'll wonder that for
the rest of his life.
>> Like that guardian angel sent me that
tape.
>> Maybe that kid'll end up telling him.
You know, who knows. Um
Yeah, it's a really good movie. I mean
I think other than that, the part where
he said that they see the ghosts and
they don't really realize that they're
dead. That part really set off a lot of
alarms to me. And then over the course
of the movie, I just really started to
notice that everyone was ignoring him.
>> Yeah, when she when he went to sit down
at the dinner and she completely like
kind of looked through him.
>> Yeah.
>> I was like dang, they're really that
rocky or she don't see him.
>> At first I was thinking he did something
up.
>> Yeah.
>> Like this whole you know thing was just
a uh
a big act that he's putting on like he's
some great person. And I thought maybe
he got an award that he didn't deserve
or like
Maybe he was doing something unethical.
>> with that kid. You know cuz the kid shot
him. So like I was thinking maybe it
could have been something as bad as that
or like
>> Maybe yeah.
>> knew about something that that kid was
up to or
>> Basically your imagination could be
endless at what he could have did. But
and I thought that she figured out about
it and was like you deserve to get shot.
I'm disgusted with you and they were
just going through like a horrible
divorce.
But it didn't really take long for me to
realize that there's more going on to
the story for sure. But I really like
this movie. This is a movie that
has been requested like a thousand
times. So I'm glad that we finally
watched it. It was on our top 100 list.
Um
>> 250
>> Yeah top 250 list. So I'm going to put
it in that playlist. So if you guys are
interested in that playlist we do have a
special playlist.
We try to do like all movies top 250.
We don't really try to make too many
categories of movies or too many
different playlists. But you know we
definitely have like action, comedy,
Marvel, Game of Thrones, just whatever
we're watching. So we're about to start
a new TV series. So if you guys are
interested in that definitely check out
the channel. And I think we're going to
be watching maybe Band of Brothers. Is
that what we're watching maybe? You
don't want to say? We don't really want
to say. So if you want to see Band of
Brothers and we don't watch that one
day.
