Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
Amanda Coolidge reflects deeply on the honor of being described as a compassionate leader, viewing such recognition as a beautiful tribute that aligns perfectly with her self-image. For her, true leadership begins with authenticity, which means staying true to her core values where community, family, and relationships are paramount. She emphasizes that being authentic involves presenting one's genuine self rather than adopting a mask, ensuring that her actions consistently reflect what matters most to her personally and professionally.
Her approach to leading others is driven by an intense curiosity about the people she works with, extending far beyond their professional roles to include their personal lives and individual identities. Amanda believes that effective leaders must understand who team members are when they are not at work and find ways to help them bring their whole selves into their roles regardless of their background. This empathetic stance requires a significant amount of active listening to understand where people are coming from, allowing her to address tensions before they escalate and to intervene constructively on both sides of any conflict.
When challenges arise or when empathy alone cannot resolve an issue, Amanda acknowledges that there are moments when a leader must make difficult decisions and stand firm in them. She views the balance between kindness, understanding, and decisive action as essential to her leadership style, ensuring that she remains supportive while also providing clear direction when necessary. Ultimately, her definition of compassionate leadership is a blend of genuine care for others' well-being and the courage to uphold values even when it requires making tough choices.

What does that mean to you to be
described as a leader who's
compassionate?
>> Well, that was definitely
an honor. I felt like that was such a
beautiful tribute and exactly how I'd
want to be called. For me it it means um
being authentic, but also being and when
I say authentic it's sort of authentic
to who I am like what my values are and
mine are you know community and family
and relationships are really important
to me. Um but I've always been one of
those people that as a leader incredibly
curious about team members and curious
about their lifestyle and curious about
who they are when they're not at work
and and how they can bring themselves to
that role regardless of of who they are.
Um for me it's just sort of being kind
and empathetic and listening. It's a lot
of listening to where people are coming
from and trying to mitigate any kind of
issues where you're feeling like there's
a bit of tension, but how can you help
intervene on both sides um and there's
certain times when you just kind of have
to
make a decision and and stand by it.
