"not every drugstore makeup product is a dupe"...but they're definitely inspired 😂

One of the biggest buzzwords in beauty right now is dupe. Especially when it comes to the drugstore brands. So many brands are very obviously trying to dupe higherend makeup. So much so that lately I've been talking a lot about dupes on my channel. I've done a couple dupes video recently, but there is still a lot of drugstore makeup that isn't trying to dupe anything that it's, you know, maybe taking inspiration from trends or other products, but not actually duping other products. So, I just did a video on the new drugstore makeup that was to me very obviously trying to dupe some other products, but there are still a lot of other new drugstore products that aren't dupes. So, we're going to talk about those for the majority of this video. But, there's even more new drugstore makeup out. I will link that video down below because that was new drugstore makeup that was trying to dupe things. But, this is just new drugstore makeup that I wanted to talk about. And, uh, with duping being such a popular term right now, I'm always looking into these new products, trying to see if they're trying to dupe something or if they have their own ideas. And just because it's not a dupe doesn't mean it's not a good product. I just watched a Tik Tok from Shelby Anne talking about how I know like duping is so popular, but it doesn't not all drugs or products are trying to be dupes or something. And so, we have a lot of those today. Essence has come out with so much good makeup recently, at least exciting. We'll see about the good part, but I'm going to be testing these new products from them. And I also will be giving another go at the Radiant Light palettes from Essence, which are dupes. I already tried it in my last duping video, but I don't have any other new drugstore cheek products, so I thought we'd give these another run on their own. Colourpop launched some new shades of their Supershock shadows. We have a couple new mascaras from Maybelline and Milani. And then I have some new to me drugstore products and we'll talk about that when we get there. But let's talk more new essence makeup because listen to this [music] simply for today. And there's other products roaming around my beauty room also new from Essence. But today we're talking about their Glow Like Honey Dewy Primer which is $5.99. The glow like honey serum spray again $5.99. The new radiant flight face palettes $10.99. Trying to do Hourglass. There we have this new bronzing palette. I think it's new. It's not on the new section on their website. Essence also has these Balm of Sunshine face and body glow balms which are $6.99 each. I think these might be a dupe for the Patrick Tall. I don't know that I'm going to use these today because I hate my body feeling sticky. But I did want to at least show these to you that they have these what I think are Patrick Todd dupes out, but I'm not going to use them today. Maybe another time, but that's what I have new from Essence right now. Okay, so we're going to talk about the newest primer added to the Essence line. They have the Bouncy Plump and Jelly Grip Primer already, and that Bouncy Plump primer was incredible. So, I'm excited about this one. This one's supposed to brighten the complexion, be lightweight, make the skin glowy, leave a natural dewy finish. M. Oh my gosh, you guys. It smells like honey. It's not sticky like honey. It's actually very smooth, but it is leaving quite a dewy glow behind. I'm not going to lie, though. It's kind of giving greasy. Like it kind of feels so slick and not lightweight that it's giving kind of greasy. I don't know if I like that feeling. H. It did kind of slide on, but I think that's because it's greasy. It's um sweet tasting. Sweet tasting like honey. Now, this is supposed to also be gripping. This doesn't feel the most grippy. Like you know how people do the brush test. Like it has a little bit of grip but nothing crazy which I prefer. They have their jelly grip primer which I think is going to be the strongest hold. This could go really good or this could go really bad even though it felt almost greasy to me. It it does also feel hydrating but it does have some grip to it. So I don't think it's going to make makeup slide around right now but we will see. Let me pop my base on and we'll keep it moving. Next up from Essence, I have the Sunub Matte Bronzing Palette, which it does say it's new online. This is $9.99 and it has four different shades of bronzer. They all have a matte finish, and when I swatched them, they felt pretty smooth. Uh, so this obviously is going to work for a lot of different skin tones, but you may or may not get use out of every shade. My suggestion, if you want to get use out of most of the shades, use these for eye shades as well. Like for my face, I'm using a BK Beauty 104 brush. Can see this shade right here. I like it. Now, this is a bronzing palette. These are supposed to have a warm tone to them. So, this one does look pretty warm on my skin tone, and you can mix shades as well to get your perfect match. So, what I'm doing is I'm putting the lightest shade on the largest portion of my face. So, I'm letting it kind of blur out on a lot of my skin just to give that more sun-kissed appearance. And then I'm going to go in with a little bit of a deeper shade. And I'm going to keep that a little bit tighter. So, I'm just going to mix these top two. This last year or so, I've been loving a lighter bronzer cuz I just think it looks so much more natural and fresh on the skin. it's much easier to apply. But if I really want to look sun-kissed, then going in with a darker shade, keeping it a little tighter to my hairline like so. That just makes everything look more toasty. And then I'm going to go in with the second shade. And this is what I'm talking about to utilize a little bit more of the palette. Going to use this as a crease shade. It is so nice that this palette is all matte because you can use it not necessarily as contour, but I think glowy is so popular right now, but it actually is nice to have all matte for those longer days or if you just don't like a glowy bronzer. But you can also use the bronzer shade like in this palette which is glowy over top if you want to add a little bit of glow to the face. But I think this makes it better for using on the eyes. I don't know. There's just not as much matte bronzers out there and I don't think they should be completely forgotten. There is a nice use for them. But this blended out really nice, you guys. And for $9.99, having these shades to mix and match, this could be a good product to put in your makeup bag because you can use it for both the face and the eyes and it's just so affordable. We are going to have another little rendevu here with the Essence Radiant Light Face Palettes. So, even though I already talked about this in a previous video, I do want to get to know these more individually as a product as opposed to comparing them to Hourglass. But, they did try and dupe Hourglass with this. There's no question. And the Hourglass is like $95 and these are $10.99. Now, if you watch my original review, these are alternatives to Hourglass. They aren't exactly like Hourglass, but Hourglass, if you ask me, they're just undupable. I'm sorry. No powder quite has that soft focus effect on the face. And some people get it, some people don't. I just feel like it depends on your application and what you look for with your makeup. But like the people who get it when it comes to Hourglass, you know what I'm talking about. And if you don't get it, totally fine. You saved yourself a lot of money. Um, but unfortunately there's this specific soft focus effect on the face when I use Hourglass that no other powder can replicate in my opinion. But that doesn't make this a bad palette. So, this is the lighter option, Glow Icon. This shade right here was kind of chalky. So, this is a dud for me. I think that the signature light is even more beautiful, but it's just a bit too dark on my face. But like, look at these swatches, man. and it's pretty creamy. It's not like the creamiest powder I've ever touched, but they're face powders. That's okay. But I'm looking at this from a lens of not being an Hourglass dupe today, but being a $11 face palette. So, I'm going to take the bronzer. I'm using the lightest palette just because it's more flattering on my skin tone. And I'm topping my bronzer with just a little bit of this bronzer because it will add a little bit of glow. I think it applies really nicely. And then I'm going to take this. Well, I'll show you this one. Like, I can get it to work. But this is a chalky color if you ask me. I don't know. I just don't like it. And this doesn't have that soft focus, very subtle glow that Hourglass gives. Oh my gosh. I'm not supposed to be comparing, but that's how people are talking about this product. This is different. In fact, this shade is matte. And even though this is kind of chalky, I can build it up to give me a little bit of color here. Again, pretty easy to work out. And then I'm going in with this highlight, which is quite beaming, especially if you were to build it up. Kind of work that into the skin. I haven't done my makeup like this in a while where I didn't use any creams on my face. I'm just relying purely on the powders to give the color to my face. So, my face is looking not necessarily dry, but I just used powder. It doesn't look like I used cream. So, we're going to set this with some spray. But $11, I still think this is a fantastic palette for $11. I think the shades are really beautiful and this certainly gets the job done. So, it's absolutely a recommendation on my part. I just don't love that dud shade, but I mean, I got it to work. And then last Essence product that I'm working with today is their Glow Like Honey Serum Spray, which I wish I would have sprayed my face first, but that's fine. So, it's supposed to give a dewy, luminous finish, and it smells like honey, by the way. It is a vegan formula. So, hopefully this will press all the powders in that I used. I'm excited for this. Shake it up. M. It smells exactly like honey. Does not taste like honey. It smells so good. Sorry if you don't like fragrance. I had a comment that one of you guys missed my fan that I used. Can thank my husband for that. He stole it from my makeup room. We will use our Nikki La Rose mirror instead. Like I said, I am bypassing this balm from Essence. I did want to share that they were available. I believe it's a Patrick Ta dupe. never tried the Patrick Ta, but I hate these products because they make me feel sticky. I'm not against trying it. I just don't want to right now. But those are also on their new catalog here. And this setting spray hasn't fully dried, but I feel like it made my skin look exactly how I want it to look. It absorbed into the powders and softened the skin a little bit. Gave me a little bit of rejuvenation here. Ooh, I like that. I mean, I like everything that I used from Essence today. For the eyes, we have some new Supershock shades from ColourPop. And all of these are going to be available at Ulta Beauty. So, I thought I would swatch them for you. You know, these are the icon OG product from ColourPop. And when I decluttered my Supershock shadows, not recently, the beginning of the year, I had to throw away a lot of them just because they were old and they were dried out. So, I'm excited to have some new ones. and I wanted to show you the range and they're only $7 which I think is a fantastic price. So this first one is pink icing. In their description they said think frog which is one of their most popular shades but with girly vibes that's really beautiful. It's just a pink shimmery shade. Now this one has come back out. I guess it was super popular because it says back by popular demand. This is 11 scoops. Very pretty. It's kind of like an icy yellow. This one is right up my alley for what I like from ColourPop. This is Barely Trying and it's like a icy taupey shade. Fairy coated, which is a cool icy lavender. Make sure you seal these tight. This is unhinged, which in their description it says for our OGs who remember our 2016 shade tinsel. This is gorgeous. This is glow up. It's a warm bronze shade. I wish more of these shades had a base color like this because these are very, very sheer. I feel like they would read similar on the eyelid. Again, there's pink icing, 11 scoops, barely trying, fairy coated, unhinged, and then glow up. I think with what I'm working with today for a look, Glow Up is going to be beautiful all over the eyelid. My eyelid is a little sticky from this serum spray, which is a great thing for my Supershock shadows. This is the perfect product for me all these years later because I'm actually more into using products like these on the everyday because it's just so easy. So, you'll see I applied this over my eyelid into my crease area even though I do have some of that bronzer already down, but the bronzer provided a nice base. My recommendation generally is you should always have at least one matte on the eyelid. There of course are exceptions, but it's okay to layer. I'm just taking my crease brush and I'm blending that out, softening everything and making it look more intentional. And I think having that all over glowy vibe. It's very pretty. Very simple, but looks like you put in a lot more work, especially once we get some liner on and work on our lashes. So, we have Battle of the New Tubing Mascaras. I have two for you today. The first one is from Maybelline. It's the Lash Sensational Sky Tubes mascara. And then the next one is from Milani. It's their highly rated lash extensions XL Volumizing Tubing Mascara. Now, the big advertisements about the Maybelline is just how easily it washes off in the shower. And then for Milani, they already have a tubing mascara, but this one is supposed to give more volume. So, we'll see about that. We'll do a little side by side today with both. Big difference in the wands here, and I feel like I'm going to hate both of them. I feel like the Maybelline is too long, and then the Milani is too chunky. Let me be known, I'm not a big fan of the original highly rated mascara from Milani, but a lot of people are. All right, let's see. Okay, actually this is gripping my lashes really nicely and it's easy to get in the inner corner. No joke, one coat. This looks really great. Okay, I might have some issues with this on the lower lashes, but this is not getting spidery. It's actually super spiky, so it's separating the lashes really nice. Huh. I hope this holds a curl. First impressions, this is nice. Now, let's do the Milani. Ooh, this definitely gives way more volume than the original. Highly rated. Less length than the Maybelline. This wand is atrocious for my lower lashes, though. I'm not doing my lower lashes today because that's just not what I'm doing for my look. But it's a weird shaped wand. I mean, what they say is true. It gives way more volume, but I think it's missing some definition. It's not separating my lashes great. So, it just kind of looks heavy. So, I'm going to let these dry, and we will be back to evaluate. Unfortunately, I feel like I'm already going to have to write off the Milani because it's taking way too long to dry. The Maybelline has kept my lashes a little bit more upright. And the Milani, it just feels [snorts] heavy. I like the Maybelline. No, don't like the Milani. It's too wet. Moving on to lips. When I originally planned this video, I had some new lip products from Wet N Wild, but honestly, I thought about it and I was like, "These don't inspire me. I'm not excited about these." So, I'm actually I'm just going to put these in my giveaway bin and I'm going to use new to me drugstore products that I'm actually excited about but aren't necessarily new. The L'Oreal Color Ree lip liner range. They have such beautiful neutral colors. I think some of them look like pretty nice blushy shades which is very flattering on the lips. I don't know. These appeal to me. I these have been out for a while but I've just never tried them. I'm going to use the shade worth it, which is their icon shade. It's their pillow talk. Basically, I'm not going to swatch all of them cuz I don't know if I'll end up keeping all of these. Has a little bit of drag, which is nice cuz you get more control. Oh, see, this is like the perfect everyday lip color. This is worth it. I'll do a couple more. This is all natural. I wish it was a bit more brown. and cool toned, but it's the hintest bit more brown. And then this is worth it medium, which is like their pillow talk medium equivalent. These are nice. I really like these. Hopefully these last. We'll see if they set down. But then the last product I want to talk about are some lip blurring products, which are really popular. They're K beauty inspired, and I've had these for a bit in my collection. These are from CoverGirl and they're the clean fresh yummy line. And this is the blur lipsticks. The Ulta Beauty collection is the one I talked about in my last video that you guys, I'm sorry. Those are being repackaged. So, they took them off the shelves. They will be back because they were a beautiful product. So, maybe these will be good. I'm going to use the shade blur the lines. Let me show you. This is blur the lines. So, I think these are going to start off more tinted. Perfectly blurry. It's kind of a perfect mauvey tone. Blur in pink would be a good everyday rosy shade. Okay. Blur the lines. Not as blurring as the Ulta Beauty. I think the Ulta Beauty is better. Yeah, I don't think these are that blurring. Okay. Like, these are okay. I'd wear them [applause] probably prettier. blend it in with a finger, but not that blurry. Just something to note. Almost forgot. These aren't going to set down really that well. I think if I give them a little bit more time, they will, but a lot of gel liners will already have dried. This is not a gel formulation, by the way. They just have plastic packaging. But I think these are going to be ones that you can blend, but they might need reapplied if you're looking for a stronghold gel lip liner. these are not going to be it for you. But I do have an appreciation for lip liners that don't set. As long as they're not slipping and sliding and have decent longevity, I'm happy. The look for today, I mean, it is simple, but I think it's impactful. It's very, very pretty. I think it's a beautiful summer look. Let's quickly do an overview of everything. I don't think I'm sold on the Glow Like Honey dewy primer. I think my foundation did spread beautifully over this, but it felt a little greasy to me. However, I really like this Glow Like Honey Serum Spray. I immediately saw the impact that it had on my makeup right away. It made the skin instantly look much more skin-like and less powdery. I think this little matte quad of bronzers from Essence is nice. I don't think it's like a necessity, but for $10, I think it worked exactly as it should have. Same thing for the Radiance Light Face Palettes, I think these are a nice pickup. I really, really do. I don't think they're a game-changing formula. Comparing them to other even drugstore cheek products out there, again, I don't think these are gamechanging. If you want gamechanging essence within their own line, their soft touch line, incredible. I think those are better and more unique than these, but they're very, very pretty. The new Supershock shades, I think a lot of them are going to pull quite similarly on the eyelids. These aren't anything new. I do really love the shade glow up that I put all over my eyelid. I mean, these are products that I do reach for kind of often. I mean, I have a lot of options to choose from, but they're just so great for simple one and done looks. So, we have some new shades. We have some repeat shades. Just wanted to share what was being added into the permanent range because they are a great one and done shadow option. Mascaras. Personally, another L for Milani tubing mascaras. For me personally, they're just too heavy for my lashes. But the new Sky Tubes tubing mascara, really liking so far. And then lips, not new, but new to me. I do like this color range from L'Oreal. They aren't going to last as long, but they are going to give you time to blend and blur if you like to play around with that. And the yummy blurs from CoverGirl. Nothing to write home about. Honestly, I think I would hold off and wait for the Ulta Beauty collection version of these. They're fine. The colors are pretty, but they don't blur as well as other blurring lip products that I have. Like, you can see as they sit, it's almost separating on the lips.
