Video summary
The video begins with a host providing an update on various upcoming news items before diving into the main topics, starting with a giveaway for a Nintendo Switch 2 and a brief mention of holiday prizes. The first major story covers the delay of *007 First Light* on the Nintendo Switch 2 to March 2027, a decision made by developer IO Interactive to polish the game's performance after receiving positive feedback at Gamescom. While many fans are upset about breaking the original day-and-date release promise and fear the game might be cancelled or delayed indefinitely, the host argues that this delay is actually beneficial for ensuring a high-quality experience, comparing it to how *Elden Ring* was praised despite its initial delays. The discussion highlights the frustration of the community regarding the broken promise but concludes that a polished launch is ultimately more important than the release date itself.
Next, the video shifts attention to highly anticipated exclusives like *Fire Emblem: Fortune Weave*, which launches later in September with a unique single-save-file system designed to manage its complex branching storylines. The host shares developer insights revealing that the game originally planned for eight protagonists but was scaled back to four main heroes plus one central figure to prevent player confusion, as tracking too many separate story paths would have made the experience overwhelming. Additionally, there is a brief look at *Nintendo Switch Sports Resort*, which will add a new vacation-themed island in October, and a teaser regarding a potential remaster of the classic horror game *Eternal Darkness* by Nightdive Studios, though no official confirmation has been released yet.
The transcript also covers significant updates to the Nintendo parental control app, now allowing multiple guardians to monitor playtime and set limits simultaneously, as well as comments from *Final Fantasy VII Remake* director Naoki Hamaguchi on the success of bringing the series back to Nintendo hardware. Furthermore, the video addresses technical issues with *Diablo II: Lord of Destruction* on Switch 2, where the new "Season of Hell's Legacy" DLC was temporarily removed due to login errors and bugs affecting all platforms. A particularly interesting segment discusses rumors surrounding PAX West, suggesting that Nintendo and other major publishers pulled out of the event in the US specifically to avoid competing marketing noise from *Grand Theft Auto VI*, which is expected to dominate attention in its home market.
Finally, the video concludes with a showcase of new footage for *The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time* on the Switch 2, featuring seventeen seconds of gameplay accompanied by the original music track. The host expresses immense excitement over the audio quality, describing it as pure bliss and noting how well the game looks and sounds on the new console. With the game scheduled to release in November, the host encourages viewers to wait for official restocks rather than buying from scalpers, as Nintendo has promised multiple replenishments throughout the holiday season. The episode ends with a final look at the glorious visuals and audio of one of gaming's greatest titles before signing off.

All right, everyone. We have a lot of
news to get into today. Before I get to
summarizing what we're covering today,
again, timestamps down below to skip
around. We are giving away a Nintendo
Switch 2. You can enter through the link
down in the pin comment or the
description. The winner will finally be
drawn on October 1st, and we'll
obviously start our new giveaway for the
holidays. Uh after that, I debating
between a few holiday items. We'll we'll
see what uh what manifests for that one.
I know some people have asked what the
next giveaway is. I like giving away to
the back to the community. It's been a
bit lighter this year. Uh, this Switch
shoe giveaway has been going on for
quite some time because again, things
had to be lighter this year due to
unforeseen circumstances happening IRL.
That being said, I still like to give
back and we will have another giveaway
for the holidays. That said, folks,
let's get into what we're covering
today. So, first off, uh, 007 First
Light has been delayed for Switch 2 and
we have to talk about that because it's
causing a bit of a stir online. So,
people are quite upset about it. Uh, we
have some updates for Fire Emblem
Fortune Weave. As a reminder, that does
come out here in two days. I just had a
glance at the calendar there. Uh they
did a whole interview series. We're not
going to go over the whole thing, but
we're going to do a couple excerpts that
were posted by a couple of people. Uh we
have a small advertisement for uh well,
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and we
haven't really covered a lot of that.
So, I want to get into that. Uh we have
some hopes out there from a certain
studio potentially wanting to work on
and maybe already working on Eternal
Darkness. That's a really interesting
one. We have a small but important
update to the parental app for Nintendo
Switch and Switch 2. Uh we have some
quotes about Final Fantasy 7 in relation
to Switch 2. So, we got to talk about
that. Uh there's been an issue with
Diablo I 4's launch on Switch 2. So,
we're going to go over that. And we
actually have a story that I actually
originally heard at PAX West myself, but
decided not to say anything because it
was only single sourced and I didn't
think, you know, really heard anything
else. But then another major media
outlet has come out now and said
something about it and it has to do with
Nintendo. It has to do with GTA. It has
to do with a bunch of stuff on PAX West.
So, it sounds confusing till we get into
the story. Uh it'll make a whole lot of
sense once we get there. Uh we're going
to talk a little bit about the scalping
going on with the 40th anniversary stuff
for Zelda. And again, the nice reminder
that they're literally promising
restocks even after the day of launch.
So, you absolutely should not give in to
scalpers right now. And yes, folks, the
headline, something really cool, really
important, something you might even see
me grab the headphones and put on so I
can hear it as clear as possible. We
have 17 seconds of brand new footage
from Ocarina of Time, but what makes
this footage so special isn't just that
it's direct feed and looks really good.
And it's not even about what they're
trying to show off. For me, it's the
music. We get a really, really good
listen to some of the music in the game.
And oh man, oh man, oh man, is it
hitting me in the fields. It is that
good. All right, guys, without further
ado, let's get into our first story.
This deals with the fact that 007 first
light has now been delayed to 2027 or
potentially an infinite delay, uh, which
makes people scared it might not come
out. But let's go over the official
announcement over here on the 007 first
light uh, account here. That's 007 game
II. Today, we would like to provide an
update on the Switch 2 release of 007
First Light. We know many of you have
been looking forward to experiencing
Bond's reimagined origin story on
Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly
appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we
deliver the quality of experience
players expect, we have made the
decision to delay the release to March
2027 with the exact date to be
communicated later. This additional time
will go towards polishing the Nintendo
Switch 2 performance of the game. We
were thrilled by the positive feedback
on 007 First Light at Gamescom and it's
a great sign of the progress being made
across the whole game as we head towards
launch. The GA same demo will be
playable at Tokyo Game Show this week.
So, please join us there if you would
like a hands-on experience. We will
share further updates as soon as we're
ready. Thank you for your patience,
understanding, and continued support.
Now, the responses to this are quite
interesting. Y'all legit did not care
about the Switch 2 version says Player
Essence. Uh, the one third party game
that would have probably sold best on
Switch 2 given 007's roots on a Nintendo
platform. Nintendo fan, I can't support
this. Um, you're seeing, you know, I
told you all something looked off with
this game. It's mindboggling. You fumble
the 007 game on Nintendo's console.
Don't be mad when it doesn't sell. How
much money is Sony paying them to delay
of the game? yada yada yada yada. You're
seeing basically Switch 2 fans extremely
upset. many of them now planning to not
purchase the game whenever it does come
out which again is slated for March of
2027 assuming no further delays. My take
is very very different from theirs but I
get why they feel this way and honestly
it's their fault. I interactive promised
that 007 first light would originally be
a day and date release on Switch 2. Then
they came out said actually we're going
to delay it uh by a few months. It's
going to come up uh late summer of uh of
2026 and technically summer still is
going on for another 5 days in the
northern hemisphere. So there was a
chance it could have still made but
obviously now the announcement as we're
getting towards the end of summer and
again there is no game or release date
just a demo. They have now told us it's
actually going to come out in March. Now
that has obviously led to people being
upset. One because they the game was
originally promised day and date. two
the few month delay were like okay fine
you probably the devkits later but I
interactive had a game at launch of
Switch 2 so they definitely have had the
dev kits for at least a couple of years
I do think that this is nothing but a
good thing uh if the game isn't day and
date which it's not right the game
already released on other platforms
earlier then when it comes to Switch 2 I
want it to be a highly polished
experience it's kind of funny how we
praise game delays at times when it
comes to game polish and if you read
this. It's exactly what they're doing.
They're that they're saying the delay is
to polish the game. So, we often praise
developers when they do that because
it's important to have games be polished
in an industry that sometimes forgets
about optimization and yet here they are
delaying it to do that and people are
not happy and not accepting of it and I
think it's because of that promise that
it was originally supposed to be day and
date. So, I do feel that they brought
this backlash upon themselves. I also
think a lot of people are just
overreacting. What really matters is
that the game is in the best it possibly
can be when it does launch on Switch 2.
It shouldn't matter when it launches. A
great game is a great game always. Like
Elden Ring, people originally chastised
that for being delayed. And then when
they actually released, it got excited.
It dropped up to number one on the eShop
charts and everyone thought it was a
really great game, a really great port.
And why we feel different about 007
first light is it really just because of
that original promise that it was
supposed to be day and day. But guys, I
just want things when they come to
Switch 2 to actually be good. Like they
could release it now. They probably
could have released it day and date, but
it would have been a buggy mess. We
would have forgot about it. It would
have got trashed. Now it's getting
trashed cuz it's taking too long to come
out. But then when it comes out, it also
might be really, really damn good. And
that might make us forget that they
delayed it because the whole point of
the delay was to make it be that good. I
think delays for game polish. I have no
issue with them. Of course, I also have
a lot of patience and I still plan to
pick this up on Switch 2. So, I don't I
don't know why people are suddenly just
mad now. There's so many games coming to
play. So many games releasing this month
for crying out loud. It's not like we're
starving for games on Switch 2. It's
It's interesting, I guess. Uh, but look,
that's the internet. That's my reaction.
Let me know yours down below. Now,
another big game is coming out this
week, Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave, the
next big exclusive, likely a highly
rated exclusive. We'll see. We'll know
in the next couple of days. Uh, but we
have a developer interview that Nintendo
published and we're going to go over a
few quotes. First quote comes from
Stealth 40k who uh grabbed it from their
interview and it says, "Fire fortunes
weave associate producer Nakanishi
explains why there is only one save file
because that's a controversial
decision." He says, "I'm sure there are
players who prefer to keep multiple save
files, and I'm actually one of those
players myself, but because the game
system of Fire Emblem Fortunes is built
around multiple paths, having separate
save files would create system related
complications, it becomes difficult to
keep track of how far players have
progressed in each protagonist's story.
When that progress is spread across
multiple save files, so rather than
simply limiting the game to a single
save file, we added another creative
idea to make the system work better. In
this game, we preserve save data from
the start of every chapter for each main
protagonist and made it possible for
players to jump back to those points. If
players think, I want to play this
chapter again, they can play again from
the beginning of the selected chapter.
This feature isn't just for replaying
chapters either. Players can use it to
review maps, revisit specific cutscenes,
or even retry particular battles. So, we
hope players will make full use of it.
So essentially because it has like this
multiple branching path thing with
whatever protagonist you start with and
it all kind of combines later in the
game in order to properly track it. They
want that on a single save file. But
they do understand that people want to
progress the characters at different
points at different times and not
necessarily try to progress them all at
once. So they enable this chapter thing
where you can jump back to whatever
chapter or start a chapter if you ended
in the middle of one and you're not
happy where you're at with the save
data. You might want to jump to a
different character. So, I actually
think this is a really good system. Um,
and again, we'll know more obviously
once the game comes out and how people
uh feel about that. That being said, uh
we now got to talk about uh the roster
because this roster is really big and it
was almost even bigger. So, uh this is
what Nintendo life says. Think Fire
Emblem Fortunes roster is huge. It was
almost even bigger. So, Fire Emblem
Fortune is almost upon us. The game
launches later this week on the 17th of
September. And to drum up one last
little bit of hype, Nintendo released a
new Ask the Developer interview. The
interview contains all sorts of
interesting tidbits about the game's
development. But there was one note that
really stood out to us and we as we were
reading it. Its hero roster was
initially even bigger. Beefing up Three
Houses's main trio, Fortune 3 boasts
four central protagonists, Kai,
Dietrich, Lea, and Theodora with one
true hero, Eshmail, above them all. It's
quite a tall order with each hero having
their own unique storyline and
mechanics. But Nintendo's initial plan
featured a whopping eight protagonist.
Oh my god, Octopath Traveler style,
baby. Uh with their own perspective on
the story. We were very fortunate that
so many players enjoyed Fire Emblem 3
Houses. But at the same time, we had an
enormous sense of responsibility. We
spent a lot of time wondering how we
could create something that would
surpass it, game director Toshiuki
Kusakahara says in the interview. So
initially we came up with the bold idea
of increasing the number of story
perspectives from three to eight. The
three powers in Fire Emblem 3 Houses are
fundamentally at odds with one another.
This time we decided to take the
opposite approach with the stories
unfolding along each path ultimately
coming together into one. Eight
perspectives sounds like quite a lot to
keep up with. And as it turns out it
was. While producer Genki Yakakota
admitted that he felt it could lead to
something really interesting, he
ultimately found that the eight-way
split was too much. With eight
protagonists, there was almost too much
we could do. It seemed like players
would have a lot to keep track of, which
could make the game feel complicated. As
a result, the team cut things down to
the four heroes that we have seen in the
finished product. Roughly half of the
development time was spent with this
central quartet. But Kushakahasha
Kerasan felt that the stories weren't
neatly coalescing into one as intended.
And so Ishmail joined the party. We are
already halfway through development, the
director says, "But I went to the team
and said, "Sorry, but we're adding one
more character." We needed a character
who could look at the whole picture.
Like the professor in Fire Emblem 3
Houses, associate producer Kenta
Nakanishi adds, "I think adding that
character made the overall structure
easier to understand with the idea that
Eshchimal helps the four protagonist
rebuild a world that has fallen apart.
The finished result is Fortunes Weave as
we now find it. We have a wonderful time
with the interwoven story lines in our
preview, and it'll be interesting to see
how they all line up in the finished
product. At least we don't have eight
storylines to get through in this busy
month of game releases, which yeah,
look, this is a really busy month for
video game releases. So, not going
Octopath Traveler style, which is
something obviously Square Enix did with
its own franchise. Uh, look, I actually
just want to see this all play out. I
don't really have anything else to say
until I play it for myself and see how
it plays out. But I am really excited
for Fortune. All right, guys. That's not
the only game Nintendo has coming up.
Uh, there's another game that we haven't
talked that much about and there's some
sound format. We're talking about well
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort. They just
put up a small little ad here from the
skies to the sea. Take to the views of
Woohoo Island launching on October 22nd.
And we'll just play this audio for you
and the small clip because look, it's
just going to be a fun game. This is
just classic Nintendo fun.
[music]
All right, guys. So, yeah, just a fun
little clip showing some plane action,
some jet skiing, and hearing a little
music. Uh, it's funny because my fianceé
uh heard me listening to that clip
earlier today. And she's like, "Oh, man.
Are we going on vacation? That's like a
vacation music." And that's Look, it's
Woohoo Island. Like, yeah, it's kind of
vacation-y, right? All right. That being
said, folks, uh, we got to get into our
next story. And this deals with Eternal
Darkness getting a remaster. Wait, what?
So, Nightdive Studios head raises hopes
of an Eternal Darkness remaster. So, a
remaster developer, Nightdive Studios,
has always been open about his desire to
tackle Eternal Darkness: Sanity's
Reququum. And a new comment from its
studio head has raised hopes it might
become a reality. As covered by IGN,
Stefan Kick responded to a question on
social media in which a user asked if
we'd ever see Eternal Darkness again,
joking that Night Dive Studios was our
only hope. Kick responded to say the
following. Eternal Darkness is one of my
all-time favorites and it deserves the
treatment I know Night Dive Studios is
capable of. Keep your eye on our deep
dives. Kick also provided a direct link
to Night Dive's YouTube channel and his
response is being viewed as a tease for
an upcoming announcement. Now, before
you get too excited, Kick has previously
stated the studio had a little luck with
Nintendo with previous discussions
leading nowhere, such as they talked
about this before, it didn't get
anywhere. These comments came more than
4 days ago, mind you, and a lot can
happen in that time. It does seem odd
that Kick would provide any sort of
tease in response to a question about
Eternal Darkness. Is it possible the
remaster is actually on the cards? And
again, he definitely did tease it. He's
not like there's no other way to look at
it. Like, hey, you know, keep your eye
on our deep dives. Like, come on. That
seems like there's like an announcement
coming. Maybe the progress with Nintendo
has flipped and Nintendo's more willing
to work with them. I have no idea. But,
uh, just wanted to throw that out there
in case Eternal Darkness remaster does
happen at some point, uh, that we can
kind of look at this and go, "Oh, it
must be Night Dive Studios." All right,
next up, there was a small update, but
an important one to the Nintendo Switch
parental controls. As a parent, I really
appreciate this update. So, this is
update 2.6.0. And what really matters
here is this first thing. Parental
controls can now be shared. This allows
two parents to monitor a child's game
system together. Parent guardians can
each use their respective devices and
apps to view a child's play activity,
set daily play limits, and more. So, I
use this application with my kids, but
it's really weird because I would have
to have Julia, if she's going to manage
it on her phone, log in with my account
on her phone to manage it instead of
logging in with her account who's listed
as a parent on our family NSO account.
So, this is something that I felt was
weird the whole time that you couldn't
have at least two parents or more.
really anyone who's set to a guardian
should be able to control this stuff.
But, um, yeah, it was locked to whatever
the main user was, the primary owner,
the one who paid for like the family
membership. So, having this, uh, you
know, now be available to both parents,
I think, is a plus. I'd like to see it
get expanded more. It's weird it took
this long to get there, but whatever.
You know what's not weird? Final Fantasy
7. And hey, I did play Revelation. and
I'm really excited to talk about it
eventually here. But what I want to get
into is Final Fantasy 7 remake series
director had something to say related to
the Switch 2. So he said it kind of
feels like fate to return to Nintendo
hardware. Uh so Final Fantasy 7 remake
series director Naoki Hamaguchi has
commented on the Switch 2 versions
including how they've been selling.
Hamaguchi told Nintendo everything in a
recent interview that it kind of feels
like fate for the game to be returning
to Nintendo hardware. The mainline
franchise was well represented on the
Ness and SNES, but starting with Final
Fantasy 7, the series moved to
PlayStation. Square Enix began to bring
the core series back to Nintendo
hardware during the Switch era, and that
continued with Switch 2. Hamaguchi
shared this. First of all, I have to say
I personally have a really big emotional
connection to Nintendo hardware myself.
I'm quite interested to see how they do
from a personal perspective because
obviously as you know Final Fantasy 7
was the first Final Fantasy numbered
game which went away from Nintendo
hardware. Up until then it had always
been on Nintendo. So it kind of feels
like fate destiny that this is now
bringing seven back to Nintendo
hardware. I'm really interested to see
all the people of that certain age who
maybe wouldn't have continued uh with
their Final Fantasy 7 journey because it
went away from Nintendo. the people who
are Nintendo fans. I really want to see
them coming back to Final Fantasy series
with the Switch 2 versions of Remake and
Rebirth now. So, I'm really interested
to see how well they're doing just from
that personal perspective. We went on to
specifically ask what sparked the idea
of bringing Final Fantasy 7 remake
series to Switch 2 and if there was
something that was instigated within
Square Enix. That led to Hamaguchi to
talk about how he was shown the hardware
before launch and the company started to
pursue more of a multiplatform approach.
So, um, he says, "You know, we were told
that things turned out very well in the
end and the series has done really well
on Switch 2." So, here's Hamaguchi's
full comments. First of all, when
Nintendo was working on the Switch 2
hardware, a little while before they
announced it and released it, they gave
me a presentation to explain the new
hardware. It's quite a normal thing in
the game industry. I'm not saying it was
just me, that I'm special. Laughs. When
I got that presentation, it really did
get me thinking and looking at the
hardware. I think that was when before
we even started work on the Switch 2
version at that point really I felt with
these specs it's going to be a big
challenge. It's going to be difficult.
We're going to have to work very hard.
But that was when I felt the possibility
that yes, Final Fantasy 7 remake series
that we're working on could be brought
to Switch 2. So that was the time I kind
of got interested in it. When I say it
was the right timing, it's because the
question is phrased as was it my
decision or was it the company's? The
reason is kind of both because that was
around the same time that I had uh the
presentation from Nintendo and started
thinking about Switch 2. Our company
changed CEOs. We went from old CEO Mr.
Matsuda to our new one Mr. Kiru. And he
very much had a strong idea and his new
policy direction was that all our games
should be going multiplatform as much as
possible. So when we were discussing
things and I was trying to make the
recommendation to apply for extra
funding for new platforms to be added to
the series, that was very much us
looking in the same direction. His idea
and my idea about where we should be
taking the series, the hardware was
exactly in line. And so that was a very
easy decision. And so we felt yes, we
have to go ahead with the Switch 2
version. I think again looking at it
from a completely business perspective
though, the decision to go for Switch 2,
it turned out very well in the end. We
did really well on it. So yeah, I'm very
happy we made that decision. So yeah, I
think when we did the announcement of
Summer GameFest for Revelation, that was
very positively received and that had a
very big effect on the sales of the
first two games. I think that did a very
big contribution to the company's
financial results this year. It really
did contribute greatly to that. But at
the same time though, the other thing
that I was very delighted by was the
reaction we had from the Chinese gaming
community and the reaction they saw. So
I think yeah overall it was a really
good decision for a lot of reasons and
again guys uh this is him basically
admitting well not giving any direct
sales figures that obviously this has
been a profitable venture for them on
Switch 2 and it was the correct decision
to bring it over and it has helped
Square Enix's financials this year. So
that's all good news and obviously good
news about getting future Final Fantasy
games after Revelation as well. All
right, we got to talk about a story
that's interesting cuz Diablo I is now
launched on Switch 2. That's great.
There was also supposed to be DLC that
launched today and it did launch and
then they took it down. What is going
on? So, Diablo I Season of Hell's Legacy
delayed due to errors and login issues.
So, as was announced just last week,
Diablo I is now available on Switch 2 in
the form of the Age of Hated collection.
The game has arrived on the same date as
the Seasons of Hell's Legacy was
supposed to kick off, but now things
have been delayed. Season of Hell's
Legacy offers a seasonal quest line
through a living history of Diablo's
past games, refreshed and recreated for
Diablo II. Then relive the past as you
encounter the memories of legendary
heroes, notorious foes, and delve into
the storied and troubled past of
Sanctuary's long history. Unfortunately,
the Seasons of Hell legacy update has
launched to all sorts of error codes and
login issues for players across the
board. While Blizzard was hopeful they
could get the situation under control,
it appears they'll need more time to
iron out the kinks. Blizzard has now
officially confirmed a delay for the
season of Hell's Legacy, telling players
they appreciate your patience or they
were to resolve the issues. Once the new
launch date is set is shared, obviously
they're going to bring you the details.
So, that's really unfortunate that like
they had all these issues. It's across
all versions, not just on Switch 2. So,
it's not a Switch 2 specific problem.
Really unfortunate because otherwise
things should have gone off without a
hitch, but unfortunately that's not the
way things always go. And you know what
didn't go off without a hitch this year?
Pax West. I had a good time there. But
you might notice a distinct lack of
content from me coming out of PAX West.
That doesn't mean I won't have anything
coming. It just means I don't feel the
need to rush any content from PAX West
out. Why? Well, Nintendo didn't attend,
nor did any other major company besides
like Bandai Namco and Konami. Now,
Square Enix as well, but they weren't
actually at PAX West. I had heard some
things from one person at a part an
afterparty basically that
what happened, why Nintendo wasn't
there. Um, and and why the gaming area
was really kind of lackluster and I
wasn't going to say anything because
it's single sourced and it's just
something I heard at a party. I didn't
really think it was worth bringing up.
But Luke from LMG, Lionus Media Group,
Linus TechTapes, etc. He's a co-host and
co-owner of the WAN show, a podcast. Um,
talked about this and mentioned stuff he
heard that lines up with what I heard.
So, we're going to head on over to the
clip they have on LMG clips for this.
Was this the worst packs ever? And let's
hear what Luke had to say about what he
was told as well. Super super wide.
There was also a massive area which was
just uh art vendors.
like the person sitting there would be
the person who drew the art and you
could buy the art, which is cool, but
also not something you would see in the
>> It's cool on the boardwalk like
>> Oh, they're they're pretty premium. I've
seen them at expos before, but you would
expect that at the Summit building with
more of the like tabletop stuff or
whatever else. You wouldn't expect it in
the prime video game expo hall thing.
And apparently they weren't. They were
originally going to be in the Summit
building where you would expect them to
be along with like other kind of
trinkety things that you can buy. Not
the video game hall, but they were
there. Which means if you look at the
massive area that they took up that not
only are the hallways super wide, but
this huge area of artists also is people
that didn't show up. Um talked to a
couple vendors which were more willing
to be open about it and they were like,
"Yeah, we were like begged to be here
last minute apparently." Rumor mill.
Entirely rumor mill. None of this is
fact.
Not super long before the event,
Nintendo fully pulled out and that
caused like a cascade of a bunch of
other vendors to be like, "Well, if
they're not doing it, maybe we shouldn't
either."
>> And apparently the reason is GTA 6.
>> Really?
Just everyone's just bailing.
>> Why bother?
>> Yeah,
>> GTA 6 will literally hoover up every
single dollar and every single playtime
hour. This was the rumor on the floor
from like everyone I talked to. I talked
to a bunch of different people and they
all had the same opinion.
>> So now what did I hear? Well, I went
ahead and wrote this down because I had
to rack my brain a bit to try to
remember because I didn't make notes of
it. So I made a tweet here and it says,
"Okay, I heard this at PAX West from one
single person and paid no never mind to
it. But now Luke from LMG on their WAN
show decided to talk about the rumors he
heard about why PAX West wasn't as big
as other years and felt off in the video
game section. It had to do with
Nintendo. So, rumor has it, and again,
none of this will likely ever be
verified, just like we can't verify 100%
that Capcom is why Switch had 4 GB of
RAM. A very commonly accepted fact that
is not technically a fact. It's still
just a rumor. Uh, Nintendo pulled out
from PAX West 2026 pretty late. Read
that to be within about a month to go,
so they were planning to be there. This
caused other AAA studios to rethink
attending the event with at least two
others pulling out. This led to the game
section of PAX having this massive area
for artists to sell their goods with
some of them admitting that in the final
month, PAX basically begged some of them
to be there because they didn't have
anything to fill the now gigantic hole
in the gaming area. Many of the vendors
that were planning to be there were
supposed to be in Summit but got moved.
As Luke explained, there's two different
buildings for PAX West. There's Summit
and Arch. Summit is like the tabletop
and vendors and then Arch is the video
game place. All right. Now, the question
then is why did Nintendo pull out and
why did at least two other AAA studios
pull out? Because they did. Apparently,
it's because of GTA 6. Nintendo and the
studios that pulled out were afraid that
anything that happened at the event, GTA
6 was going to plow over it with their
marketing. I had heard this myself, but
again, one person at a party and not
something I was willing to put out there
until Luke from LMG also mentioned he
heard the same stuff. It's interesting
as these companies including Nintendo
were at Gamescom. However, it's notable
that Gamescom is in Germany and not the
United States. United States is the
number one market for GTA by a large
margin, followed by the UK, Brazil,
China when it hit PC, and then you get
to other European countries like
Germany, Spain, Italy, and France.
However, the attention GTA gets in a lot
of those countries is comparative to
other AAA studios and is mostly the same
in many cases. The US has a heavy lean
to Grand Theft Auto unlike any other
franchise. My theory originally was
because the game they would want to
bring to PAX West would have been
Ocarina of Time, but they hadn't had the
direct yet. That's why Nintendo decided
to pull out. That was just a theory I
had. That's before I went to PAX. But it
might have been to avoid GTA's marketing
despite it being the week prior.
Nintendo may not be aware of the full
marketing cycle for GTA 6. So, they
wanted to ensure there was a couple week
gap between that and showing Zelda,
which is how the Zelda 40th Direct
happened the day before the General
Direct with Nintendo noting publicly
several times how they have never done
back-to-back days with major directs
before because that wasn't actually the
original plan. Again, this is something
I heard. Zelda's 40th was going to be a
week or two sooner, but Nintendo wanted
to avoid GTA 6 entirely. Now, this is
ironic considering that Ocarina of Time
is coming out just two weeks before GTA
6, but they may feel the holiday period
could make them immune to GTA itself,
causing their system and game not to
sell. But they were afraid of the
marketing of that game in the United
States. Again, this is all hearsay
rumors directly from people who could
know. It does make sense logically
though and it explains why PAX West
Gaming Wise was a dud for many because
three of the biggest showcase partners
pulled out two of them after Nintendo
pulled the plug late. This does give an
explanation where outside of co Nintendo
had never skipped a PAX West in the
entire history of the event. Everyone is
feeling a little pressure due to GTA 6.
I have a feeling this is my personal
thoughts even Metroid Ravenous would
have been this year if not for GTA 6.
Instead, it's January. If Dust Bloods is
delayed to 2027, I would suspect again
it's due to GTA 6. Nintendo was never
going to push back their big holiday
game, but they may want others to come
out a bit later. Just food for thought.
It's interesting hearing the story told
by someone else with the exact language
and words I heard. This doesn't change
much, but it should make people
confident that Nintendo will be back to
packs literally next year and likely
those other AAA companies, too. As
someone who doesn't care about GTA 6,
the biggest thing I'm looking forward to
in 2027 as a gamer is companies behaving
like normal and no longer being afraid
of GTA, which is a fact. I've actually
not enjoyed this second half of the year
and the way companies are handling it,
how many games are packed into
September, how many games are avoiding
November and December and even October.
It's it's wild, man. And I I don't like
the way the industry is behaving all due
to one game. But it is GTA and that game
is a little different. I suppose it's
popularity, especially in the US, is
insane. So, it sucks if that's the
reason that Nintendo wasn't at packs.
But, uh, whatever. Can't cry over
spilled milk, right? We got to keep it
moving. Let's talk about Zelda. Zelda
makes me always smile. This story, not
so much, but maybe because it's a story
that you guys shouldn't have to worry
about. Scalpers are already reselling
their soldout 40th anniversary Switch 2
for 700 plus pounds, euros, etc. This is
obviously uh Eurogamer here, so I was
going to go European prices. We've seen
this in the US as well for around $800
US. Anyways, Nintendo's new Legend of
Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 sold out
within hours of pre-orders opening.
Scalpers are already scalping with
dozens of orders popping up on eBay for
close to double its retail price. Um,
and yeah, this is just like an example
here that they show. Uh, obviously it's
not really any different here in the US
either. Now, what I wanted to note here,
and I talked about this in another video
earlier, is that Nintendo has already
promised multiple restocks, and we've
actually already seen multiple restocks
of the pre-orders, and they said they're
going to be stocking it past launch. So,
guys, there's no real reason to right
now to give in to scalpers. I mean, it'd
be different if it's like summer next
year and none of this stuff is made
anymore and you can't find it at retail,
but we're not the summer of next year.
We're not even to these things coming
out yet. Nintendo is promising restocks
basically throughout the holiday season.
So, I would say hold on. You could
probably get it in person, if not online
eventually. All right, guys. The last
piece of news we have is an exciting one
for me. Uh, it's more Octo
provided by Nintendo Direct Feed. Uh, it
is over on X, which is, you know, a
little bit unfortunate as you're not
going to get the highest possible video
video quality. In fact, it only goes as
high as 720p now that I just looked. But
it does include no voice over, nothing,
just pure game audio bliss. And that
makes me really excited.
You can jump anywhere with the X button,
which is the whole point of the footage
are showing off jumping. Of course, you
can cross rocky areas near water, and
jumping while climbing vines allows you
to progress faster. All right, guys. Get
ready for at least what I consider to be
some oral bliss.
Okay, I had to stop it there because my
gosh, the oral bliss. This is just so
amazing. Okay, I'm going to rewind it. I
know it's just 17 seconds. I'll let you
listen to it all the way through cuz
Yes.
Yep.
And there you guys have it. Oh man,
Ocarina of Time looks really great. It
sounds really great. The gameplay is
looking amazing. I'M SO EXCITED for this
game coming this holiday, folks. Ah,
November 5th. can't get here soon
enough, at least for me to fully take
this in as everyone plows their way
through,
I guess, one of the greatest games of
all time. I will see if the remake holds
up to that reputation. All right, guys.
Thank you so much for tuning in. I am
Nathaniel Rubble Jance from Nintendo
Prime, and I'll catch you in the next
video.
