NEAGLEY Series Review | Reacher Fans Will Be Thrilled As Maria Sten SHINES!!! | Prime Video

All right, if you are a fan of the character Francis Neely from the Reacher Show on Prime Video, you are in for a treat. I can guarantee it. And if you're watching this, today is Worldwide Afro Day, September the 15th. My name is Brandon Keith Avery, and this is just my opinion. All right, guys. Now, we have nearly a spin-off show in the Reacher universe from the show Reacher that also is on Prime Video, and they're right now in season 4. This is being described as action, crime, drama, mystery, and thriller. Now, the directors of this series is Phil Abraham, MJ Basset, Gary Felder, and Sam Hill. Each of them did direct two episodes. And if I scroll down just a little bit, we have the same writers and creators from the Reacher universe itself. Now, my expectations for this spin-off show were pretty high. I have been a fan of Maria Stin since Reacher season 1 when she popped up in episodes four and five, and she was always a standout strong character. And during season 3, I got the news that there was going to be a Nearly spin-off show. And I couldn't be happier. Every time she showed up in the Reach universe, she was strong. She was badass. She was that girl and I loved her. She is from Copenhagen, Denmark, Danish, Swedish, Congalles ethnicity. And if we just scroll down and look at her filmography besides Reacher, she was a part of Pretend World's Real People, Emanuel and Me, Swamp Thing, Channel Zero, and Book Trader, which is a short. If you've seen any of their past work, please let me know down in the comments section below. Now, like I said, for this series, my expectations were pretty high. She was always a standout character and worth her getting her own show. You know, they had a nice script, a nice story to tell that is worth our time at home. Now, this series does debut on Prime Video on September the 16th, that is a Wednesday. It consists of eight episodes, each running to about 45 to 60 minutes. And I also want to let you guys know that I did get the chance to talk to Maria Stin for a few minutes in an interview just talking about some of the things that makes her character, her backstory, her as a fan of Lord of the Rings season 2, if that's possible, and what she may have plans and thoughts there. It was real fun. There's going to be a link to it in the description box and pin comments of this video. So, before I get into all the nitty-gritty, before I talk about all my likes and dislikes, let me tell you exactly what this Neie series is all about. Neilie, drawing from her experience with Jack Reacher and the 110 special investigators, embarks on the perilous mission to expose a sinister threat, risking her life to unravel the mystery. Now, before this series popped off, we only saw this character Neely in the Reach universe in that franchise in seasons one, two, and three. She was always lending a helping hand. And fans all around, like myself, we always love the pairing of those two, Reacher and Neie. When they get together, great things happen. And I was curious if Reacher was going to pop up in her spin-off show. I'm glad to say that he does. I won't say how much or when, but he does pop up. And the amount of screen time that Reacher gets is satisfying. Another great thing that I love about this series is if you're new to the character, you don't know who she is, you've never heard of her before, you're on YouTube or wherever online and you see a thumbnail or a title that says Neely, Maria Stan, new series, new spin-off, and you're curious like, okay, who is this black woman? She looks good. She look like she can fight. She looks intelligent, but I don't know anything about her. That's perfectly fine. You can go in cold not knowing anything and you'll be able to understand comprehend everything that's going on without being lost. You do not have to go back and do homework and watch Reacher season 1 all the way up until now. Now, you can do that if you want to if you just want more backstory and context, but trust me, it is completely unnecessary. You will be satisfied. You will be able to understand if you go in cold. You don't have to go back. Like I said, now when it comes to the character of Francis Neely, if you did watch Reacher, you know that she has proximity issues with people. She doesn't like to be touched at all. She will freak out and go crazy on you unless she's beating somebody's ass or delivering justice. That is a disability that is called aophobia. I am proud to say that in this series, we get the answer. We get the origin of how that came to be and where it came from. And it is very, very satisfying. I didn't see it coming, but when the crap hits the fan, when all of the curtains are pulled back, it is very emotional. It will pull at your heartstrings. And Maria Stin can act. She's not just another action heroin kicking ass with guns, knives, or whatever the hell. She has range, and that shows when a certain scene does go down in the middle of the series, and I can completely understand what her character is going through. Now, I can't empathize because I've never been in those shoes myself, but I can sympathize. Like I said, I do feel sorry for her, and you will, too. Not only because the story is sad and tragic, but at the same time, the acting is just superb. This scene in particular is not just the best in the whole series, it's the best acting in the whole Reacher universe out of four seasons of Reacher and this one season of Neie. I can't wait to see this sister in other projects because she does deserve it. Whether that's an action superhero comic book film, a romantic comedy, or just the next drama that's going to make you sad and have all these butterflies in your stomachs and feelings on the inside, oozing out. Watching this series gave me a new found respect for this actress and she deserves the world in my opinion. Also, in the Reacher universe, we did get hints of the relationship with her father. He does play a prominent role in this series and we get to know him a ton and that just makes you fall in love with the character Neely that much more because you see where she's coming from which makes you understand why she's so driven and passionate about everything that she does. Now, if you did watch the show Reacher, when she's taking down bad guys and thugs, she's doing it as a favor to Reacher. She doesn't know these victims. She doesn't have a past with them at all. These are just completely strangers to her. But the victims in her spin-off show, Neely, that we're talking about right now, she knows them personally. And we know for the most part, everybody in the world does want justice. They don't want a crazy society filled with mayhem and chaos where innocent people are just getting gunned down, beaten, taken advantage of, and just brutalized. But if you know somebody personally, that's just going to intensify the situation. It's going to make all of your surroundings that much more serious. you're going to be more aware of everything that surrounds you in and out because you don't want anything to slip between the cracks. Again, no one wants to see an innocent old lady get beat up on the street, but you definitely don't want to see a old woman getting beat up on the street if it's your sister, your mother, your aunt, or your grandmother. I don't want to necessarily say the relation that Neely has with one of the victims in this show, but they are close. And like I said, it does intensify everything, especially the action. And again, the drama, too. I almost left it out. You're gonna walk away from this series. You're gonna walk away from this show just saying, "Okay, I'm definitely not going to mess with anybody that nearly knows because if I do, my world is going to come crumbling down." It should be obvious at this point, but one of the things you're going to love about this character is she's bold. She's fierce, fearless. She's completely unapologetic. Whether she is by herself or with a team, she doesn't care. She's going to get the job done and will burn down everything to get what she wants. Only when it's justified, though. Again, she's not running around like a crazy person just being selfish and greedy. Another thing I love about this series is there's a ton of action. Whether that's hand-to-hand fighting, she's pulling out certain weapons or guns, and she has a stacked artillery, always having something interesting at the hip, whether it's just her fist, whether it's a baton, handguns, sniper rifles, or explosives. She also can climb walls, do flips, it's crazy the range that she has. She's fast, she's in shape, easy on the eyes. There's really nothing to be disappointed about or distaste or not like. I mean, all around, she's that girl, like I said, and you're going to be rooting for her, especially when it comes down to the action. I mean, they even put extra emphasis on the type of cereal that she likes and the way that she desires to consume it. Those little character details just makes her more relatable and feels like somebody that you could possibly know or want to get to know sometime down in your life. I also like the supporting cast in this series that helps her accomplish her mission. They are new characters. This gentleman right here by the name of Grayson Holt. His character's name is Detective Hudson. They have a very very nice pairing. I love their relationship. They aren't buddy buddy at the very beginning, but they start to get along eventually and it's a great relationship and I want to see more if we do get a season 2. We also have Jasper Jones right here by the name of Kino. I don't want to say exactly what his role is that he plays, but he is a great character that I'm a fan of now as well. I was rooting for him and the three do make a great team. There's also other supporting characters that I'll just leave out of this review, but you'll get to know them as the series goes along and it's a good group that you can root for, like I said over and over again. But it is a good group that you are rooting for. Also like the villain or villains that they have in this series. Very unique. Something that I didn't expect, especially if you haven't seen the trailers, and I didn't see the trailers for this series until I was in the middle of the season. And that was a very interesting perspective that I went on, but most of you probably have seen the trailers and know that it has to deal with a cult following. And I do like the way that everything was depicted. It seemed realistic of what we know in the real world from cults in the past and also has its own new unique way of being disgusting, weird, and just also completely unorthodox from something that you've never heard before. I mean, some people will go to extreme lengths to rid themselves of society, and there's nothing wrong with that in my opinion, as long as everything is transparent and no one is being hurt or taken advantage of. And you'll see if those things do take place, if they do go down in this series. And it's just another thing that does have a lovely, lovely payoff when it comes down to the end. This series is deep. It's shrouded in mystery. There's a ton of thrills, and I didn't know how it was going to end. I do have one small nitpick and that does come with the last episode. I'm not saying that it was antilimactic. It was not. But it had a number of goals that they had to accomplish. Had a number of eyes that had to dot and tease that they had to cross as far as if I had to divide it into two elements. One of them was completely satisfying. And the other one I was saying to myself, okay, that just seemed a bit too easy for you to hype up this entity for so much that's possibly hiding in the shadows. I kind of wanted a little bit more. I'm happy with the end result. It's just I'm not too thrilled with the execution and thought they could have drew it out a bit more. That that would have given me exactly what I wanted. And I was kind of just saying to myself, okay, really? Yeah, y'all could have stretched this out. But that's really my only complaint. Other than that, guys, I love this series. It was fantastic. It was great. Not the best thing on TV, but it's definitely worth your time. Especially if you are a fan of Reacher and you know a character from that universe, but still, if you've never heard of her before, if you're a newcomer and this is just the first time you've witnessed this actress, go ahead and give it a try. If you're not satisfied by the first episode, you can turn it away, but I can guarantee you that you will be. I'll go ahead and give my rating for this at the very end.
