Hey, what's going on everyone? We are back. It is B Avery and Lamont, the best duo in the Reach universe. This is Nigley episode two titled Team Building Exercises. This will contain spoilers. If you have not seen the episode, turn back now. Now, Lamont, we got to we didn't really get to know Tommy in the first episode other than him getting smashed by a train because he was drugged up, unfortunately. and Neie is not having it. This is her childhood best friend. She's pissed off. She wants justice. And we kind of get some backstory early on. Uh at the beginning of this, they flash back for two weeks and and Tommy's not playing this. He's like, "Wait a minute, man. I think they open up our mail. They're talking about this other facility over here, this camp where all the women are going, but it's just a place for for uh for what's the guy's name? the the cult leader to smash all these women. Uh I I don't like this. I don't like this. Lulu's like, "Don't don't talk about our leader this way." Okay. He is a prophet, you know? He is a portal. Uh talking about Lawrence Cole. I love him. But look at my nails. Look at my nails. And where's the the green? They're neon green. They made them bright as hell so we can notice them. And what exactly happened after that, man? Where do where do we see these bright nails ending up that got Tommy uh uh all bent out of shape? >> We seen them in a pigsty, ladies and gentlemen. And the story of how the finger got there was even more atrocious than the pigs playing in the slop. That story of how somehow another that finger got back to where the pig sty is at was just like, come on, dude. You [clears throat] got to lie better than this. Fake ass David Caresh. You got to lie better than this. Um, so be I was I was like it captured me within the first few minutes. That it got me. I was This has been a good show so far. >> Yeah, man. Um I I got to You're right. But I got to say Tommy is not that smart at all, >> you know. Um you you got to keep your mouth shut and play dumb. How what in the world? Okay. If you got your friend Lulu here that that's that rever this cult leader and then the next thing you know you find a finger in the pig pot in the pig in the pigsty. What makes you think you can just go confront them and you going to make it out of there alive? I mean damn. I I just would I would have played dumb the next time we f to go into town and and and gather fruits and vegetables and sell them. I'm I'm exiting stage left right there. I'm keeping my mouth shut. I'm like, "Come on, brother. You got to be smarter than that." I mean, I don't know. Am I tripping or am I tripping? >> No. When when he turned when he turned to walk out of the room, I'm thinking to myself, "Bro, don't turn your back to this guy." >> Yeah. >> Don't turn your back to this guy. And then we quickly learned that the girl that we was having questions about in the first episode, the one that greeted Neely, she crooked as hell, too. She crooked like the letter S. Can't trust her. >> Yeah. Can't trust her at all, man. talking about he's asking too many questions. >> And then uh and then uh Lawrence Cole talking about I failed her in life. >> I failed her in death, too. I'm like, man, get the f out of here, man. You with your uh elementary acting at the school pageant. This is this is crazy. This this is crazy. But yeah, Tommy, I'm say I you know, I'm I I like you just from association because you're friends with Neely, >> but my brother, you got to be smarter than that, man. And you got to be smarter than that or you going to end up dead on the train track at 2 a.m. in Chicago with your blood and body parts everywhere. And so, um, that that's just really unfortunate right there. Uh, but besides that, when we pass that flashback, man, it picks up right where episode one left off when they went to Charlie's house and see that he's dead. I love the uh the investigation work by Neie uh and Hudson. Uh, Hudson, he was like, "Hey, man. I'm tired of you trying to give me orders. Okay, I'm a trained investigator. I know what I'm doing. Okay, you you're doing too much. You're not trained like me. You know, uh this is a farce. It was not a suicide because he's left-handed, but they have the gun in his right hand. They didn't cross all their tees and dot all their eyes, Lamont. And the the case is unraveling. Um like I said, I love the investigative work. Uh but at the same time, how are you feeling about this relationship between Neie and Hudson as well? Do you think they make a good team or they're going to be butting heads throughout the whole season? No, I think they're g I think they're making a good team. Um, they laid down the groundwork for why they can be a good team in this episode with we learned a little bit about his backstory. We already knew her backstory and the handshake thing had more relevance after we figured out both backstory. So, I think they're going to make a good team, but I still think they're going to have to call Reacher. >> Okay. We we we're going to see. We're going to see. Um, I I think they're they're going to be making a good team, too. I like the because Neie is so sure of herself, and you know, she has a right to be confident. I mean, she knows her stuff. But >> later on, and I'm jumping ahead just a little bit, when Hudson got emotional and uh they went and I guess he beat up his brother or brother-in-law and all that. And they were sitting down at the diner. U she was like, "Hey man, if we going to be working together, you got to keep your cool. You got to deal with your stuff. You got to deal with your issues. You can't be popping off like that because if I wasn't there to save the day, you could have been killed by your own family. And he going to be like, "Oh, you telling me to deal with my issues? Okay, cool. Let's shake on it. You deal with yours." And he put his hand out there to shake hers and she wasn't having that. And she beelined out of there. I like that right there, man. I like that. Uh, you know, she was compromised a little bit and put in a vulnerable position. That just kind of just shows her flaws as well. She's great, but she's not perfect and she needs work, too, which also makes them a good pairing. You know, they can help each other out. He's not just some random stranger that has to experience her hopia disorder. He has experience with it as well that we found out from his childhood friend that never leaves the house. So, I thought that was some great writing right there and a dynamic between them. Do you feel the same way? You feel different? >> 100%. That's you basically that's just what I was describing. That was a great paradigm for the two. I think that that's going to help them push each other. And I just like where this thing is going. And she, you know, he knows that she's tough as nails, man. She tougher than him and she run faster than him. So, he kind of need to keep her around, keep him out of trouble. >> Right on. Right on. Right on. Um, but uh, and he's on it, too. If we go back a little bit before that, you know, when they come out of Charlie's house, he's like, "Hey, I got this photo sent to me about an hour ago, she had what does she got? The Spidey sense or something like that." She was able to see reflections from yards away. Pulled out her. She bald, too. Like, Lamont, I don't think I have enough kahunas to where if I can see a reflection of a sniper out the corner of my eye, I'm going to get in the car, drive off or get under something and cover up. She was like, "No, you see me, I see you." and she going to pull her her sniper rifle out and see them and scared them to death and um he's like, "Hey, let's go after them." She's like, "No, they would have got away." And he pulled out the little photo. Do they look like this? I like that right there. But I mean, how bold do you have to be, Lamont, to do something like that to not excuse me, not running high, but to point your gun back, you know? That that's pretty awesome in my opinion. H how do you feel like that? I mean, how do you feel about that? Do you think do you have the same skills? Would you have been able to do the same? Like where you at as far as that's concerned? >> I got a nitpick. Number one, she should be dead. >> That's fair. Okay. Okay. >> She should be dead. But considering that they didn't because they probably enjoyed looking at her, they gave her time to see a see some light reflecting off of a lens. She jump in her car and she got a picture of them. And that was the downfall of Dumb and Dumber. That was their downfall. and she's going to get him. And I thought that that was another good scene right there, the way they played that. But technically, be Avery, she should be a goner. >> That's a fair point, man. That that's a fair point. How do you feel about them following up like, okay, they had some receipts or something like that at Charlie's house that supposedly killed himself that he was he frequent this bar down the street and they went in there? How how do you feel about the whole bar scene and and uh you know what are your thoughts during how that went down and how bold and fierce and unapologetic she was to try to get answers. >> Hey, anytime you got some crooked business owner and a lot of these dudes out here is crooked folks, make no mistake about that. It becomes a crutch for them to have to be somebody else's Oh, by the way, this show is TV MMA if you're wondering. And I am the rated R YouTube superstar. [laughter] And she quickly made sure that he knew she wasn't playing. She would burn this mother down. Okay. Set the table on fire. So, she already done burnt up some of your good equipment. Then she used your good liquor. So, she done wasted some of that. And then she told you how she's going to get around the insurance thing. Buddy, you didn't have a choice. And I loved every minute of it. >> Power to the people. >> Power to people. Power power to the people. >> Uh power to the people. Yeah, man. Um family. Uh you can't control your family, man. You know, you can't control your mama. You can't control your daddy. You can't control your sister or your brother, your uncles, whatever. You you you just we just pop up and we got to deal with the costs we dealt. Sometimes you have good siblings, sometimes you have bad. But um Hudson and his apparently it's his brother, man. They from seem like they from opposite sides of the track. You know, one is living the crooked underlife and Hudson is a cop that's a u um allegedly appears to be a rat. Um I liked we got to see a little bit of it's not I mean this show is focused on Neie, but this supporting character Hudson here, you know, he we getting some shine too, some development and uh you know, get to open up his relationship with his family. I love the way he bars in there and draws them up like, "Hey man, don't y'all don't you telling me that I can slip people out the back door and I'll be working with you and all this. I'm not about that life." Uh, did he have a right to feel that way or did he overstep his boundaries? I think he had a right to feel that way. Um, you know, anytime you got someone who's engaging in that kind of behavior, I think I think he had a right. Um, but that made me laugh though, man. When [laughter] I see you at Thanksgiving. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That that was quite funny. >> They they have to pay that off be Avery by actually having a Thanksgiving dinner by the end of the season. >> That would be great. >> Show up too. >> That That would be nice. That That would be nice. That would be nice. But now Lamont, we're getting into the trenches, man, of uh this disorder that Neie has aophobia. Uh she goes back to the house. Uh there's a note left and uh she goes into the closet, man, and she finds a picture of her and Tommy when there was, you know, five or six years old. She go and then, you know, she gets the mail, she gets some of her dad's things, takes to the hospital cuz, you know, he's suffering from cancer, uh about to die. Uh he's saying that the memories are foggy from all the meds and the chemo. But she's like, "Hey, Dad, when did my half a phobia start?" She he said when I was when she was an infant. That's a lie, Lamont. Because he she pulled out the picture and said that can't be true cuz here I am hugging somebody right here when I was 5 years old. And last time I checked, infancy and 5 years old is a big difference. So, it appears that her daddy is a liar. Is he a liar? What's going on with that, Lamont? Is he Can he be trusted? Is he crooked? Or what? What's up? What What are your thoughts? You're interrogating me, Millie. >> What's going on? >> He He's not He's not crooked as much as I think he's just trying to protect his daughter. And often times, parent, we do these silly things um trying to protect our kids and we think that at some point in time, it's going to be the right time to tell them the truth. and then you look up, your daughter's as old as kneeling, you still ain't told her the truth and you about to be kicking the bucket. So, I just think it's one of these things where he just doesn't want to have to encounter the hard truth with his daughter when he really should because right now she needs him. >> Yeah. Yeah. You know, the mom the mama is not around. And um you I heard some I heard this a long time ago. They say your kids don't have to know your life before you was born. And I kind of agree with that to a degree. Um that would be nice nice to know. But do you think that we're going to get all of that information revealed uh at some point in time of uh you know what the life that her father lived and you know exactly what's going on here and there and the truth come out and transparency uh yada yada. Do do you think it's going to come out at some point in time or should it come out? >> I Yeah, it should come out. I think it's going to come out. If if we get any more scenes going back where we understand her as a youth with her her her best friend, we'll get a little bit more of of what happened with the dad. I don't see how you don't do it. So, I think that we're going to get a little bit more of it um in some consequence. >> Yeah, that that's that's true. I I I agree. Um, I have to say, um, I did get a laugh. She's an investigator, a special investigator. She knows her her ins and outs and how to, uh, put the pieces of the puzzle together. So, when her boss called her into the office and they had a new client there, and she was like, "So, uh, let's talk about your wife, you know, how do you how she you think she's smashing somebody else?" And he's like, "Damn, we just gonna get straight to the point and and all of that." Uh, he was embarrassed. Uh, but I I like the way she uh put all that those pieces together. That was a that was comedy to me. Um, but yeah, man. She's relentless because that led her to the pawn shop. Um, they was able to wiggle some information out of Miss Captain Noick over there. Oh, I don't know these guys right here. Um, and you know, he kept revealing information. Okay. He said that it was his grandfather's teeth and that he needed the money for the funeral. How did you know that they came here? Um, and he was like, "Well, we didn't. This is the eighth time that we've run this, and you the one that spilled all the beans." I was like, "Man, that that's that's clever right there. That's some uh dedication." I I liked it, man. And it just shows how her tenacity and like she's just not going to stop to find answers. Um, you need somebody nearly on your team. Um, what what are your thoughts there? Did I Did I leave anything out with that assessment? >> No. 100% I agree with you, man. The way they went in there [laughter] and they got my man at the pawn shop. Like, bro, they they could have got anything they wanted out of that pawn shop. They could have got his information and that gold to they wanted. I thought that was funny. And they picked the right guy to be a sleazy pawn shop owner, too. He was perfect for that role. >> Oh, yeah. >> And um I I agree, man. It it was it was a fantastic fantastic little scene, and I thought they did a good job on it. Well done. >> Yeah. What I I I like the attention to detail, too, when um he gave the information of the one of the men in the photo. And prior to that, when she was at the office with the hater that wants to be a PR2 and trying to teach her the ropes, I mean, I'm going crazy with these headphones. She was like, "Okay, this guy is the leader because he's walking in the front. He's asking the questions. He has this type of jacket on, but the guy in the back has a denim jacket. He's missing the belt loop. can't afford a belt, so he's going to be easy to interrogate, get information out. He's broke. They go to his house, he runs out the back, and then they end up in the interrogation room, and he starts going cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, talking about how um old dude is a prophet and a portal and all that, but this dude don't got no money for a nice belt with a cheap denim jacket, but he's able to afford $1,000 an hour lawyers. The math ain't math, Lamont. What do you think is going on there? They telling themselves, man. What's What's your thoughts? >> Well, I I kind of feel like this this show has been one of those ones where they go ahead and let you know who the players are in the game, but they slow bob you into understanding how it evolves, how it unfolds. So, we we already know who the crime guys are. We already know how it's syndicated and we got a chance to see just how dangerous um our main antagonist is um Woodro. We got a chance to see how dangerous he is. But for this man to who's a low-level creep get a lawyer to that degree? What does he know? How is it that they want to protect him? Um cuz you know someone like that be Avery they'll let you either go to jail if you pledging of allegiance and not snitch or they'll just take you out and for whatever reason they need to save him which makes you wonder why do they need to save him? >> Yeah. What you think about that blowtorrust that the lawyer uh brought in there too talking about you know what to do. [clears throat] >> I was like man get your butt up out of here like you know who you dealing with. You know who's sitting across from you. Yeah. Get your butt up out of here with that blowtorrch, man. Blow me, buddy. Blow me. Get up out of here. >> Okay. Okay. I didn't uh I didn't expect for you to uh say that right there. I don't know exactly what he was trying to do with it, but um that that's just crazy to me. Um and so now, do you like Mr. Matthew Del Negro here? This gentleman, uh Woodro, the man that it seems to be >> I like him, man. I like him. I like him. He showed just how dastardly he is. I told you this man is a fantastic actor. I told you he could be a good villain. Um, normally he plays gay bad guys. Um, and I guess you can kind of say he's [laughter] he's in another kind of sexual field tension role in this this show. But he's a great actor, man. He's going to pull off this bad guy. >> Yeah. And he doesn't seem like he's getting along too well uh with his partner, Lawrence Cole, either. They having phone conversations and calling him stupid and incompetent because he can't get the job done, etc. Well, if you if you would have done this, Neie would have been out of here and well, it's more complicated cuz she's with the I don't want to hear it. Get the job done. Give me some results. And he throwing the phone and all that. And so it's like, man, you know, Woodroof is is quite crazy here cuz remember at the episode one patients were having sex down there, he didn't even want him to break up. He said, "No, let him finish." And you know, he was getting off on it. Mind you, what did he do? What did he say exactly when he met that that dude that worked at the government and he gave him that uh that money of envel that that envelope of money that was under the bench or whatever, you know? He said something along those lines that was sexual towards the end as well. What What are your thoughts there in that little confrontation? [laughter] I was laughing. I like this guy cannot get his penis out of his own hands. Okay? Like he he's one of these dudes. He like Bill Mah. He go jack off five times a day or something like that. >> Jesus Christ. Yeah. >> Dude, dude was killing Dude was killing this man and saying it was making him hard. Ladies and gentlemen, we can't make this stuff up. This is the the TV show made this up. That's how perverted this man mind is, folks. And whatever he's working on, he sees visions of billions of dollars in making people want to go and have sex with each other. and he is gonna enjoy literally the ride every which way it go. Um >> I'm curious to see how they take him down and will they incorporate all this androgyny sexual energy he has in the way he gets taken out. Curious to see if they do it that way. >> Yeah. Uh me too. Um he is a pretty disgusting fellow. Uh I do want to see uh him suffer myself. Um cuz that that's just wild right there. Uh cold blooded. Cold cold cold blooded. He clearly doesn't give a damn about nobody but himself except for the dollar. But that's the reality that we live in today, man. Um it is. And so, but anyway, right after that, we got Hudson and Neilie driving home. They're getting to know each other a little bit more. He apologizes about overstepping his boundaries, you know, with the halfophobia handshake that he tried to do at the diner. Uh, but when they get home or she gets home, um, Kino is in the apartment in his underwear. Bro, what are you doing? Like, I understand you're homeless and you ain't had a hot shower in over a year, but what did you expect Neie to say? How did you expect her to react? You're have Not only are you in her house uninvited, you broke in and you in your draws eating cereal. What What's she going to do? Well, hey, Kino, how you doing? And I'm glad you I was bored and need a company. Like what? Come on. Come on. Like um craziness. What would you have done, man? You walk into your house and you know he in his drawers eating your favorite cereal, >> bro. He going to be out the house eating no cereal and probably no draws. Give my damn draw. I'm going just cut him up just to be in spite. I ain't going to wear them no more. I'm just cut him up and I'mma throw him out with you. He's going to be doing what um they used to do when you go to Will Smith house. He gonna sound like jazz h and get thrown out the house. However, [laughter] I must admit, >> I must admit, I'm glad the way it went down with him, but I'm also afraid for him, too. >> Really? Why you afraid? What do you think's gonna happen? >> I think he's going to get in too deep. [clears throat] >> You think he's going to survive? Oh, I think >> I think he gonna survive, >> but I think he's going to be I think it's I think it's going to be some pain involved too with this survival. >> Yeah, we're we're going to see. Uh that's kind of how the episode ended with him infiltrating uh Echo Canyon. So, we're really going to be able to see all the ins and outs of uh how this operation works. Uh and we know that there's going to be some crazy thing that's going on, but he has no choice. He doesn't he has no place to go. uh he clearly respects Neely and company and so uh it's a weird way that this relationship this team is coming together but it is and I don't know the the woman's name uh I do apologize uh what was that that works at the office with Neie as well she was trying to make the the marks on Kino's arm as if he's an addict and um you know she clearly doesn't give a damn about him she's rude but I wonder if she's going to turn over a new leaf as well I don't at some point. How do you feel about her? Do you like her or uh is she's disposable in your opinion? >> You remember last week I said I don't trust her? >> Yeah, >> I don't trust her. >> Okay. You don't? Okay. Okay. >> I don't trust her. >> Okay. Okay. We're We're going to see. We're going to see. Um I do like the gesture as well that Neie cares about um Charlie's child. you know, he was they said he killed himself and she takes a photo and puts it in the book and goes deliver it to the the house. U that's really nice right there. Again, really humanizes Neie's character. Um you know, we need more people like that in in life um you know, just to be around cuz she didn't have to do that um at all. Uh but that that was that was very that was very nice of her uh and kind of made me smile uh when I did see it. Uh, but what are some of the things you think since since Kino is in the facility right now in Echo Kane, what do you think is going to happen the next episode? Uh, what do you think he's going to find? You think he's going to get caught? Um, what do you think is going to happen if you had to give your best prediction? >> I think that somehow someway they're going to wind up giving him sex drugs >> and he's going to have to be saved. No different than Chris Rock in New Jack City. They're going to have to come save them. >> Okay. Okay. Now, and the sex stuff with the drugs is a side effect. Um, you know, that's not the primary result they're looking for is to apparently remove trauma. Um, you know, but they don't have the the chemistry, right? Uh, but man, that's um that's that'll be a horrible thing. I don't want to take any type of drug, man, where it makes me want to have uncontrollable sex. Uh, I wonder if, you know, if there's just with anybody in the vicinity that they want to have sex with or they still got to be attracted to him. But that's quite scary right there, man. And they got they got to work it out, you know. Um, that's just something I I don't want to be a part of anything like that. Uh, but Kino gets to the facility. He meets Lawrence Cole and Lawrence Cole is about to kill him. About to blow his head off with a gun. I should kill you right now. What's going on there, bro? Excuse me. I'm sorry. Why is he so violent? >> He's pretending like he knows who he is, but I think that is a complete right or misdirect. Um, they're pretending like, you know, maybe he knows that he's undercover, and I don't think that's what the case is. I think it's just that he knows that this young man has been, you know, dealing with other low-level crime people and he's going to know that way. Um, there's no way that we going to come to the next episode and this boy is going to be dead because the guy knew that he was trying to be an informant. No way. >> Yeah, I got you. I got you. Yeah, we're going to have to see. Uh, but that's really just how the episode concludes right there. This was a shorter one. U, still great in in my opinion. I really did love the action, the chase scenes, uh, the little bit of, you know, fights that we did get. Uh, what are your final uh what are your final No. Yeah. And also at the end, um, they had him they had him on the phone and they was like, "Hey, I have the shot. Uh, go ahead and take out Neilie." He's like, "Well, she's with the cop right now. Wardro doesn't care. If you have an opportunity to take the shot, go ahead and take it." U, so we got Kino meeting Lawrence Cole and how violent he is. And also, we have Neil and Hudson in the scopes as well. This is an interesting cliffhanger, man. And um I'm dying to see what's going to happen next. What are your thoughts? Uh what are your final thoughts as far as this is concerned uh for episode two? >> Good episode. Picked up the action the same way it did in the first episode. We're in the meat of this story and I can't wait to see it. >> Yep. And so with the whole season out right now, uh we're going to try to watch episode three as soon as possible so that we can give you guys our reaction. Uh, since it's out, we're probably going to, and of course, we already talked about one. We're probably going to do episodes three, four, and five together in one video. And then also maybe six, seven, and eight. Uh, like that since it's all out and you know, people do like to binge. Uh but guys, that is our short recap reaction to Neie, uh episode two, uh titled Team Building Exercise, and we will be here for episode three titled Hammer Time.
