I don't think there's a best way I don't think there's a good way to guard Luca donic in a pick and [Music] [Applause] roll the Mavericks were in position to sign Luca to a 5-year $350 million contract this summer if you have a 25-year-old who you can get under contract for 5 years at 350 million who's been all NBA five time first team all NBA five times that's that's typically in the history of the NBA a no-brainer situation there's not a stress there and what McMahon is reporting in talking to the Mavericks tonight is that they weren't sure that was a good investment this is the most shocking trade in NBA history I couldn't believe it I still I'm still somewhat thinking it's a hack I just it it's really hard to Fathom the thought process from moving on from Luca Don it it it really is at this stage of his career uh is a young man that just led a team to the finals I mean if I am Luca this is the ultimate rebuke it is the ultimate B basically insult there's no way anybody's turning down $350 million so what they're basically saying is we don't think you're worth the money it's shocking what went on to make them trade Luca Don is what I want to know I cannot wait forget about what Luca says about this I can't wait to see how Luca reacts to this there's some unique things about his his contract um that we had to pay attention to you know know there's there's other teams that were loading up you know that he was going to have he was going to be able to decide is make his own decision at some point of whether he wants to be here or not um whether we want to super max him or not or whether he wants to opt out so I think we had to take all that into consideration and um feel like we got out in front of what could have been a tumultous summer I don't know man I don't know if I I don't know when I'm thinking about it sitting here more I don't know that trade just don't make sense to me like now that it happened obviously the Lakers know like our franchise is Luka hand now like Brian you you done you're on the way out we going to build around Luca and he understand that he 40 years old the mes obviously had to make a decision this summer whether to give him 5 years $350 million that's a lot of money to give a guy you don't think can stay in shape who's always going to be hurt and let me tell you something the only people know Luca something we don't know you got to let Bri make a decision at this point like hey Bri do you want to rock out and be with Luca cuz if he do Luka going to end up being like me and ET was talking he was like if he get around BR Luka going to end up being the best player in the world for the next 10 years cuz he going to learn how to work how to train his body learn how to eat right and he going to upcoming Star uh and who became a a uh Mega star and uh I was just blessed to have that opportunity to coach him uh but uh when you look at the vision of the team and what Nico wants to build I I truly support that and uh truly believe that the players that we're getting uh are the ones that can help us achieve that and that's to win a championship I do think this kind of set the into like the LeBron James making all the decisions they're like hey we love you LeBron but we're going to start what's doing best for the Lakers that's what I got out of this trade from a Lakers standpoint cuz I don't know I don't know if they didn't come tell LeBron because number one clutch Sports is Anthony's agent but it seems like to me they're like hey you know what LeBron's on his last legs let's start getting us a start for the future and uh it's going to be fun to talk about this trade sit back and watch who wins the trade insane it's crazy crazy yeah would have never thought LCA dones get traded just go do it in the game the next night like he I feel like he one of those type of players this Michael Finley uh Grant William they tle store but I want to get to Luca I believe if Luca were to like train in the offseason get himself in tiptop shape I don't think LCA realize he's great I'm talking about he has he's transcend he's historically great but I don't think Luka realize how great he to it's hard cuz he go slow to fast so easily and he just so smooth with it like I just love his game Luca split the defense there I guess it's like you you know he's going to his step back you you know know that the play is going to be drawn up for him he already has 40 it's like of course that shot's going in and literally bro and like while we watch like that literally donic down to 3 seconds 2 seconds donic for the win oh yeah Luca donic the deer but he's taking himself from I said it yesterday it's like from being right at the cusp to like now Bonafide Superstar Luca is I mean for somebody who has the ball in his hands as much as he does and he controls the whole game um with his Pace you know what I'm saying like he gets a he gets a good shot up every time down that's rare for somebody who going have a ball all game like him so I was watching some of his film and um you know his ball handling get into the rim how he breaking guys down in the mid-range now like a few years ago it felt like it was only threes and layups now he posting up shooting fadeaways lot of yeah lot of post a lot of midi work along with the threes and lays so he he just made himself into a complete offensive player man he's so cool out there I mean he just everything just just slow I mean just major moves just and a wet ball I mean he shoot the blood out of that thing man Luca is Luca donic is not a vertical or linear athlete but he got bre he's got the best breaks in the [ __ ] world and can you explain why breaks make it so effective well so what he does there's there's a constant change of pace he's on balance he's trying to get you on B off balance once you're off balance he's still on balance he changes his Pace yeah he has created an advantage at that point yeah yeah so now he's got you on his hip potentially he's blown by you maybe you reach in he goes through he draws a foul whatever but let's say you catch up to him you're now going in acceleration full speed and he goes into deceleration you fly by so on his drives his ability to decelerate yeah is special but bro what what makes Luca special I know you recently said he was your favorite player his size he gigant I mean he's gigantic 68 68 point guard he's 225 LBZ he has the ball on the string and but more importantly his his vision that's why I love his his vision he he can control a game he don't he doesn't even have to shoot he will literally he'll walk the ball up the court 10 straight times and get to his spot every single time just because of his Pace he knows when he comes off a pick and roll if they're hard showing or if they hedging or if they dropping the pick and roll he know I can turn the corner cuz I got the shoulder and I know the third line of defense when I get there if I just slow down just slow down use my pivots you know not even jump just the Euro one two this gu's flying by he's flying by every time it's it's the mind also you got to think that they not through they can't be through moving and trying to make moves with the with what they're going to be left with with LeBron and Lua and you know no bigs and stuff like that so you got to think there there's more moves to
