NBA Legends & Players REACT to Golden State Warriors TORCHING the NBA! Jimmy Butler & Steph Curry!

[Music] As we got drama in the NBA, this might be the greatest trade deadline of all time. Right now, you think about what the words have been coming out of Golden State. It's been about maximizing Steph Curry's prime. Mike Dunlevy is going to be in sync with Steve Cerr, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green on whatever moves they make. He told me earlier this season that he keeps them in the loop, and he's he says he wants to maximize their championship window. And he told me, "We're going to be knocking on a lot of houses, seeing what we can buy." just pissed off. You're trying to figure it out. Everybody in the locker room is kind of searching a little bit, trying to understand what's going wrong. Uh there's a lot wrong, but what are you going to do about it? The only time we saw Steph Curry smile and and play with joy was when he was in the old limp. You almost feel like that trade deadline coming up, you've got a certain amount of time to show management to keep things together or they might have to make some major decisions. We have a standard that's pretty evident that if things stay the same, you know, that's a definition of insanity, right? We we'll find out here pretty soon. He is now out. He's going to a Western Conference home, a hopeful contender. He's going to join Stephen Curry. Then all of a sudden, you get Jimmy Butler and now he has that hope again. He has that belief again. This is a first step that you can see getting Jimmy Butler. We have to sit here as aspirations for a championship. They want Jimmy Butler, playoff Jimmy to be a big part of it. [Music] I don't see that whole playoff Jimmy happening no more, bro. I'm just being honest, man. Like look that that that team is predicated off of how well Steph is shooting the ball. Jimmy Butler is not moving the needle for the Golden State Warriors. I mean now Jimmy can can find out how to play with with with Steph right the legend like you know what I'm saying the the Golden State legend if he can learn how to do that and still do his thing and be which I think he can but the I don't think all that is you know how dangerous is this Warriors team in the West? No more dangerous than they were yesterday. Uh let's call it I'm not moved at all. Listen, and and that's no knock against Jimmy Butler. But what we're not going to do today is call this a mega deal. It is not a mega deal. But, uh, I'm in shape. I'm ready to go. I've been training. I've been running up and down. Um, laughing, smiling, and having fun. Um, but now I get to do one of the things that I love more than anything, and that's to compete. You expect it to be Saturday? I would think so. I hope so. We got to ask the boss. We hope so. I'm ready. Yeah, Saturday it is. Jimmy Butler, the former Bull and former Allstar, his first game of the day, his first Warrior basket. The Warriors get a win in Jimmy Butler's debut, 132 to 111 over the Bulls. They were down by as many as 24 in the third quarter. Um, a couple notes here. Jimmy Butler was not cleared until after shoot. So, it was reported after the game that he only knew three plays. Jimmy inside and Steph finding it up and out. Curry with a rebound. step putting it up and out. Jimmy should be Butler. He got on the glass. He's always better with a ball handler and that pass from Draymond to Butler. He was learning their new terminology and they just put in three basic plays for him. Didn't get to do a walk through or anything and he goes out. Um but they were down big and they made a huge Warriors classic Warriors comeback with Steph Curry going for 24 points in the third quarter to go from down 24 to up 20 in short order. What did you make of this one legs? his ability to just be physical in the paint and be tough and earn trips to the line. They are 27th in the league in free throw attempts. And that's a tough that's that's look, you have to have balance in this league with your three-point shooting, your paint production, and and getting to the line is is another component that teams need. So, they don't really have anybody that's a high volume free throw taker on their roster. Jimmy Butler comes in, he gets 13 free throw attempts, not knowing any of the offense. That's the kind of thing Jimmy Butler can do, you know, if when when in when in doubt, let me just be physical on my slashes and my cuts and and and and isos and backing guys down and like, let me just do that. They had played just a few games together before the All-Star break and we were sitting there. Vince, you were on set, too. And and Draymond goes, "Oh, we're winning the championship. We are going to win the championship." Wow. Wow. And there was a level of confidence that I think he was feeling which whether it was overstated or not, you're seeing it seven and one. How you feel about that guarantee? You on that. I 1,000% wholeheartedly stand all 10 toes down on everything I said. We winning that. And I look forward to all the people that run and duck and hide and then not even acknowledge that. Yo, this man said this when they were thing about me BD is I talk when we down 20. I don't really necessarily talk when we up 20. I talk when we down. When we 28 and 27, I said what I said. This in the last three games, 12-1 at the Garden. They finally got him a legitimate star. And every time he's had one, Clay in his prime or KD, he wins titles. His legacy is amazing. titles before KD, two titles with KD, title after KD with an older Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins. And right now, since Jimmy Butler arrived, who leads the NBA in plus minus? Steph Curry. But what about the Warriors, though? 10 and one since that Jimmy Butler. Nice. That's a team right there in the playoffs. Y'all better watch out. Quiet, too. Then loud, but quiet. Very loud, but quiet. It's like Yeah. It's like Yeah. It's like they moving like Yeah, they moving like champs. Golden State, another team you don't want to you don't want to see them. Look at uh look at Steph. Steph don't even really have to be in that gear if he want you know what I'm saying? Like Jimmy don't have to be in fifth and sixth gear, man. They really are at a real nice pace and a nice throttle to where you need them for the for the playoffs and you need that push, bro. That's what I'm seeing. I'm seeing these I'm seeing superstars get not only a jolt as you would say, but another level or another another juice. You know what I'm saying? It's very similar to when they had KD in a sense. Yeah. You think you have the KD like effect? No. Meaning meaning. Mhm. Let me clarify this. It's meaning Jimmy is somebody you can give it to in the post in the mid post and have him go get a bucket while a lot of action going on over here for Steph. Similar to what KD brought to those that the go and he can pass out of that people. Jimmy thrives in that like role. of like being just a role player in a sense. He thrives in that. Like that's where you going to see the best Jimmy. Like he want to be the compliment guy. Like he, you know, he's a he's a star, but he wanted to be the complimentary guy to Steph. Like why not? He's playing with a chip on the shoulder. Only at 40%. There is what they can do with Jimmy. He's playing with some guys that know what it takes to have the blueprint on how to win a championship, right? And he's a guy that can if you need him to take over game, he can take over game uh by penetrating and kicking or just by scoring. And I think what Jimmy is in the playoffs is going to help this team soar. He's out of the spark now. Can they compete in the West? Depends on the matchup they get. If they can get a, you know, favorable matchup in that first and second round and make it to the Western Conference where they're super confident, then yes, they probably can win the championship. A lot of people get Jimmy misconred because Jimmy just want to win. So Jimmy will do whatever he got to do to win. That's cursing you out. That's calling you out. That's doing some dumb Like he just want to win. And you around who want to win now. You Draymond want to win. Yeah. Steph want to win. Steve Kerr I'm sure wants to win. Now you implement Jimmy into that fold. Jimmy wants to win. But he's had doubters. The SMH crowd, the shake my head crowd. Y'all fall in love with your IG reels and your YouTube highlights and your hops and your handles. I like IQ and EQ and maturity and great off the ball and great with the ball and he's strangely nuanced that he's flashy yet nuanced. Jimmy's will, his his just passion, his competitiveness, um he just he's got a dog in him. When the Butler trade happened, I think he and Draymond said, "We got one of us. We got another one." A guy that's been there, done that as far as playing in the high stakes game. You know what I mean? This is where the dogs come out. Jimmy is a dog. He's showing it. He's tough. He going to talk his talk and he going to back it up. Like that's the thing about Jimmy. You don't let him talk his Well, naturally Jimmy is like a glue guy. Like if you know Jimmy Butler, he got he's a star. We know that. We know he can take over games. But naturally, he a glue guy from his days in Chicago with D Rose and all those guys. He was a defensive minded player. Did all the hustle things and that's what the Warriors needed another guy who could guard also Jimmy can score but he do all the little things like Draymond and they needed another Swiss Army knife type player and got that kind of persona like he just bring that kind of energy. You expect to play hard when you see Jimmy Butler and I think he raised the level of play for everybody. before Jimmy Butler got here. You're in 10th place in the Western Conference. You've won nine out of 10 with him in the lineup. How is it possible that one man has made such a difference to now have you in the sixth spot in the Western Conference? I mean, y'all know who he is and what he's been able to do in this league. Um, and there's a learning curve and learning process bringing in a guy like him. Uh, but we're we're talking, we're figuring it out on a daily. I know we're all challenged because we understand the sense of urgency of where we are in the season, but he is a superstar. Um, he's won and, you know, lifted teams and he's doing it with us and, you know, we're trying to all do our part around him. Sometimes Jimmy Butler don't take part, take over. Nah. Uh, as long as we get wins, I don't care about any of that. You know, last 10 games were um I think we're second in both offense and defense. Um, obviously small sample size, but that's the that's when we got Jimmy. And, um, so things have clearly turned with him. He's, um, he's a great compliment to, uh, to what we already do just with his ability to pass. Um, but he's, um, what he's adding is that maturity and poise. He definitely was what we were missing. Um, but I'm confident, but you need collective confidence in order to win in this league. You know, you can have one guy conf I can be confident, Steph can be confident, but if you're not collectively confident as a group in the group, you can't win. And so I think what he's brought is not necessarily that he's made me more confident and made Steph more confident. He he's made this group confident. And you can't win in this league without that. just try to defend at a high level first and foremost with Draymond at the five, Jimmy at the four, you can play pretty fast and try to, you know, speed teams up on both ends. And then at the end of the day, kind of the same same point. You just try to limit, you know, your turnovers and usually good things are going to happen. Whether we make or miss shots, we don't really live and die by that. It's, you know, just truly the fundamentals of the game. Play good defense, take care of the ball, and then we're getting better at getting organized offensively with certain sets and um actions that Jimmy likes. And then we all know like if I get the chaos of the offense going, we can, you know, create good shots that way, too. [Music]
