"My Leadership Journey From High school Made the Charity lIfestyle in me to be born"// Belita Mutheu
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The video features an inspiring conversation with Belita Mutheu, the CEO of the Hopegivers Foundation, who shares her personal journey from high school to becoming a dedicated leader in charity work. Her mission was sparked by observing her mother's difficult life in a ghetto environment, which instilled in her a deep desire to help street children and families regain their dignity. Belita explains that the foundation's primary goal is to move people off the streets and ensure they have access to decent lives, emphasizing that every individual has a fundamental right to a beautiful existence. Her approach is rooted in the belief that even small contributions can make a massive difference, as providing a single meal or item of clothing can sustain someone until tomorrow, effectively planting a seed of hope in their hearts.
A significant portion of the discussion highlights the emotional rewards and challenges of this charitable work, particularly regarding the psychology of giving and receiving help. Belita recounts touching stories, such as reuniting families through social media videos, where she helped a child reconnect with a mother who had given up on them. She addresses the common struggle many people face in accepting assistance due to pride or fear, noting that true blessings often come from acknowledging one's need for support. Furthermore, she tackles the issue of hypocrisy in charity, criticizing those who pretend to help while actually seeking personal gain or political advantage, and instead advocates for a purpose-driven mindset where actions are guided by a genuine calling rather than external rewards.
The dialogue also extends to broader societal issues, including child labor, the neglect of children by their own parents, and the role of government in protecting vulnerable youth. Belita passionately argues that mistreating orphans is akin to attacking God, as He is considered the father of orphans, and warns against bringing children into homes where they cannot be properly cared for, which she views as inviting a curse upon the family. She encourages parents and community members to take responsibility for their children rather than abandoning them, reminding viewers that fighting against such injustice is a spiritual battle where God supports those who stand up for the weak. Ultimately, the conversation serves as a call to action for everyone to challenge their own mindsets, recognizing that millions of lives can be transformed if individuals simply decide to give what they can, no matter how little it may seem.

Good morning and welcome back. Yes, my
name is Eliza Kimmani, the TV host of
the yearinda
and it is our win and it's always
exciting to remember that it's exactly
13 minutes past 8 in the karibu sana.
This is why in the morning here on Y254
channel and right now we are on the
empowerment cafe. Yes. And we're
speaking about something that I love so
much. Yeah. And um definitely it's
something I love. You are going to love
it because it's going to be a very
interesting and amazing discussion. I am
here with Belita Mudil and she is the
CEO of the um Hopegivers Foundation.
It's a foundation that comes together
and um she is helping uh the street
children. And she says that the goal is
to reduce the street families. Yes. To
make sure at least uh she's able to get
people out of the streets, help them to
have decent lives because all of us have
a right and all of us have um the right
to have a beautiful and amazing life.
Yes. So that we're going to be having
that discussion today. You're going to
love it because you want to hear of how
the amazing stories of how she gets to
change the lives of people. and we are
going to love this. Good morning.
>> Good morning, Liz. How are you?
>> I am very fine. Say hello to my amazing
people.
>> So, hello people.
So, today I'm with you here in Y254
get locked
about life challenges
about the the hope givers.
>> Amazing. Um, from the name Hope Givers,
it just shows that you really want to
give people hope and that shows people
have given up. People are hopeless, but
now you're here to give them hope. Why
did you come up with Hope Givers? First,
you can tell us when you started this
amazing organization and the dream
behind uh Hopegivers.
>> Uh, so hope started 2023.
So after
>> that's in campus high school.
>> High school. Oh, okay.
>> My mom by the way
she used to live in ghetto.
>> So
like I'm like
I should be able to
like but now my mom
I was like,
but I'm the only child. I was like,
okay, maybe
like I should follow this direction. I
should share whatever you have.
Wow. That's why I decided to start.
>> Yeah.
>> And it's amazing when you say that um
it's from you observing the kind of life
that your mom was living and the people
that were surrounding her, that's where
the dream was uh built because most of
the times uh unless you have experienced
something, you are not able to really
understand what those people are going
through. But the fact that you could
watch, you could observe, you could see
and it made you have the heart and
desire to help these people and that's
why here we are. So maybe you can tell
us um where is your focus
organization in a focus onto
probably and maybe they open an
orphanage a home where they take those
kids. But now for you from uh your
tagline you're helping uh people off the
streets. So maybe you can tell us a
little bit about your focus on the
street kids.
>> Okay. my focus.
But
500 today,
I rather
200.
So it doesn't matter whe
at least your health but at least
Wow. You know when you explain that
[snorts] it's it's it's a good thing
because most of the people
but from listening to what you're
saying. You use as little as you have.
Share the little amount you have with
someone else. You're giving a smile.
You're putting a smile on that person's
face. And that's amazing and beautiful
cuz it's it's it's actually Uh great
that
money or a big
you know with your heart the fact that
like you're saying most of the times
those people don't even eat for a while
for a long period of time but now uh the
fact that you get them something on that
day you've
survive until tomorrow. Maybe you can
tell us a story of someone that like
some of the people you've encountered
cuz to some people it's new
or the experience but yeah maybe you can
tell us the joy of you helping someone
and some of the experiences that you've
had with these people as you give them
the food.
[clears throat]
First there's a video I posted
then
obvious
something
if I can help for real.
So
I was like, "Okay, I know that
sister, brother.
[gasps]
Then we decided,
do you know
He doesn't even remember.
I was like, "Oh my god." Yeah.
even behind the camera.
Then there was
WhatsApp because yes for me
And I was happy like I was happy for
that family for real. For real. Wow.
Yeah. Yeah.
>> That's amazing. Especially when you're
saying how the mom feels, you know,
mothers always haveden
for the family and the kids. And when
you see her so excited
and they can travel from wherever to
come and picks
and care about this child and the fact
that reunion out of a video you just
posted
and you didn't know that it was a door
you are opening for this child to get
reconciled again with the family and the
family to get peace
that's a very far place. Yeah. And
that's crazy. And the fact that they are
small kids. So um that's that's a
beautiful story. And um have you ever
found probably they don't want to accept
your help?
[laughter]
By the way,
in their mind
it's a matter of time
of
everything.
So
accept help.
That's all amazing. And like you're
saying that is the reality. Most of the
people, I don't know why, but most
people struggle with accepting help. And
it's crazy when you you you don't have
you're struggling and you don't want
help like
because you you're there feeling like
and everything, but at the end of the
day,
you're in that situation. And for you to
get out, you have to be to to to to have
someone that is holding your hand to
help you. So when you find someone
that's giving you something to eat like
she's saying for example
if you don't feel like you can eat it
give it to somebody else. Yes. Because
at the end of the day
and yes blessings are there and
blessing.
Okay. Yes. Blessings are there and
you're going to be blessed but you have
to agree and accept that you need help
at that point. probably you can tell
because most of the times um people
and all that and many people don't want
to listen to such kinds of people they
don't talk to them they just shove them
away so what what would you tell people
to do in such kind of a situation
[clears throat] okay
do not painal.
It's something natural.
try to convince
one two
And I'm very sure that
[snorts]
I say let me just go. I work in so let
me just go.
Okay.
account
breakrough.
>> The fact that you give
>> the fact that you give
that's allure
100%.
>> Wow.
>> So the hand that gives is the hand that
receives receives.
>> Amazing. You know most people feel like
You don't want to give you are being a
good steward but like you're saying
release give people if you can help
someone help them. If you can't sour
it's honest you can't but if you know
you can help someone just go ahead and
help them. If you know you can do
something go ahead and do it. Like she's
saying you're going to be blessed. And I
am I am excited to see how you're
excited when you think and you're
speaking about the fact that you give.
still like it's not bringing making you
feel sad that you gave. it's actually
bringing joy to you and you're excited
to to to know that um you give and you
still keep giving and even the fact that
you're saying it's it doesn't matter how
much you have cuz that's the mentality
most Kenyans have
and they feel like they are not enough
like
but like you're saying
>> the little you have go ahead and help
somebody go ahead and
you you go ahead and give it to them.
Maybe you can tell us um because at
times where the fact that you're now
give helping people everywhere you go,
you might not remember everyone unless
every day you might not be able to
remember every single person that you
helped. So has have you ever met someone
probably
you helped them at some point and they
try to remind you you helped me at some
or something like that. Have you ever
encountered that
>> when sometimes um to
mostly
they know the moment I arrive
they can even follow me.
So
maybe they can't remember my name but
yeah
>> amazing because like you said you know
the thing is if I am in need
and then someone comes and gives it to
me someone comes and helps me I will
always remember
just for the sake of
for the sake of but for me
I always remember that and I always have
hold it in my heart. So like you're
saying most of the times you might not
even know them. They might not even know
your name but you planted a seed. You
helped someone. Imagine, you know, at
times you you think about it. Someone
was very hungry, had a cooler the whole
day, and now you've gone to them with a
package of milk and bread and you've
helped this person by the time
that's enough food and um it's it's
helpful for them. So,
ever ever
here they are and they doing like and
you've helped that person. So
it's it's not a wonder to Kiona you are
the next millionaire in Nairobi because
of like you're saying blessings come
with that and the fact that you don't
you're not considering how much you have
or how much you are going to get out of
it cuz you're not getting anything from
these people. These are people who
cannot even help themselves let alone
help you but you're still focused on
doing this. You're still giving off.
You're still doing this and it's
beautiful and it's amazing. Now there
are some people I remember of a very
it's a very sad story in school a lady
organization
and she was asking people for help and
then they collect money and then they go
to visit kids in children's homes but
then uh there's that accountability part
where we give receipts of how much money
we used and what we did and all that but
now for her she was not faithful
and people discovered that she had a
campaign. She was running for president
in school as well. So
campaign. So what would you say about
such kinds of people who are hiding
under the mask of helping people but in
reality all they want to do is get money
from people and um use it for their own
benefits.
>> Okay. uh first uh you know helping.
So personally
so me
but I even don't want your money because
I know my purpose is what
I don't think right now it doesn't at
all but I do it because
that is my
let me just speak to God. I want to know
my purpose in this world because
that is your purpose. That's why you are
there. So
that is your purpose. So
my life and I was like okay God
when I was primary school
there's something about leadership in me
so I decided
>> so
up to class 8 I joined the form one then
form one the the the school the school
the school captain.
So
the class
I want this girl to be
form up to form captain of the school.
So after form four I was like
youth conferences then someone point you
and say say a point. So I was like,
uh-uh, there's something going on in my
life.
>> So I decided, let me just do brah. I
remember I was employed in
it was amazing because
I didn't know even to do all these
things. But funny enough with two weeks
and
make good salary.
I'm like okay let me do this and this
and this and thank God posting one of my
videos.
So what I'm going to say is what the
moment
you don't need anybody to help you do
your purpose. You are supposed to
do this.
Let me be do this blah blah blah help
there and there then everything flows.
>> Wow.
>> You know it's amazing.
It's your purpose because
you'll help people
or something like people are not always
as thankful or grateful as you would
expect. So if you're not driven by
purpose, if it's not something that is
coming from your heart, you're going to
get tired.
Mimi,
you know, after everything I have done,
you're still reacting to like evil. So
like you're saying it is it needs God
God to plant this on on you, God to give
this to you and then you are able to uh
do it cuz cuz you know you're not doing
it for anyone. And I love your heart.
The fact that you're saying you're not
sitting down there waiting for anyone to
come and help you. It I'm calling
people. I need you to help me do this or
that. It is good. Help is welcome. I'll
be giving you her details as we get to
wind up so that you can channel your
help towards her. But she's not waiting
for you to help her. Whether you are
going to send the money or not, she is
still doing uh what she ought to do.
She's still helping these people with
the little she can be able to do.
Imagine millions of money. How many
kinds of lives can be transformed? You
know, how many people can be changed?
how many people can be happy and excited
because I am very sure that um
but if you have the best structure and
help that you would need you would help
people to even now get them off the
streets because some some of these kids
you can find them at children's homes or
uh get them their families and all that
and reconciling uh people to their
families but it all needs resources.
You need a lot of money to be able to do
that. But that's why you're here. Yes.
And um this is an opportunity for
everyone that
40
more than enough. So those 50 bobs,
those 100 bobs that you feel like they
are so little for you to help someone.
She does help people with a little as
little amount of money as she gets. So
we I'm going to be giving you her
details as we get to wind up wind up.
Okay? So stay with us so that we can be
able to channel our help to towards her
so that she can be able to continue to
help these kids and this is this is
amazing. Uh we are on all social media
platforms.
Yes. Facebook
let's talk matters of charity
helping them because these are some of
the things that people get. Yes. a
reaction you get and you're like, "What?
What have you just said?" And I see my
guest laughing. Maybe you have an
experience with that.
>> Okay.
For real. But now
then you just pick
let me give a friend obvious
last last year
that
because it's
it's something
in a good way.
So I decided let me just focus. But now
[snorts] uh I went to to heaven's gate
to pray. I I went for seven days to fast
and pray. But
the mentality now came.
>> I'm like
you should do this. You should do this.
These are to do do I decided let me just
open it again because I have no option.
So
hope for real for real because sometimes
So,
but now
that's where that's
for probably a question and you I don't
know if you really know but let me just
ask you. uh these guys that are always
on the streets begging with cups and all
that because they most of the times our
coins and all that do you think that
sustains them the kind of money they get
to collect on the streets do you think
it sustains them at times you find it's
a mom with kids probably
do you think that sustains their
lifestyle
>> according to me uh I think
It's a something rather than
>> Yeah. Okay. We are changing mindsets
here guys. Okay. Yes. um she's helping
us and me as well changing mindset
because there's a way you think
but if you're saying everyone
at the end of the day
now something else should we consider
who we are helping like
all that should we help people should we
have all those things in mind as we are
helping people should we just help
someone
with their cup and they need help and
you should not care what they do with
the money or how they are
for example I know how to identify
Mhm.
She's like, "Where are you? Where are
you?
I will identify
reason behind it.
which is not fair.
It's not even fair
issues. So,
rather than
you say is equal.
Yes.
home. So I'm like,
Because the moment
seriously
children's
He is the provider. So you should
wow Those
kids that come selling biscuits, selling
sweets, what comes into my mind is this
is child labor. Why is this child
selling
or something? So what do you think about
parents?
Because why is our government
not not even concerned?
So government should help us too.
Our president should help us.
Yeah. Amazing.
I am telling you this discussion is
beautiful and amazing because at the end
of the day these are this is a reality
of what is happening on the streets.
This is a reality of what is going on.
And it's it's it's sad that all these
people are on the streets, but at the
end of the day, like she's saying,
But really
I am struggling and you know I always
love saying
at least I will come and buy the sweets
from you because I can see
trying to do something.
Okay. I thought you needed me to help
you. Why are you being rude? because I
am not helping you and it's it's very
very sad but yes we are talking about
charity and our question Facebook
let's talk matters of charity
yes we want to know if you have helped
them
because like she's telling us
you know, all those kinds of things and
you you you're left there wondering like
are you even serious? Do you even are
you even listening to yourself? But yes,
because at times
they don't they they don't know. they've
not learned at all. So, you're not even
supposed to be there judging them and
thinking at after I have helped you,
you're talking to me like that. Like,
that should not be your focus at all.
I appreciate no matter how little it is.
You know, now you're there getting hurt
and getting angry and saying I will
never help again.
But it trickles down again to the heart
behind it because
if you don't have a call, if it is not
your calling, if you you don't have a
heart for people,
hey, you will get tired.
>> Yeah. And it's it's it's sad, but it's
amazing that you're doing this. And the
fact that you're doing it yourself like
you're doing it because you know God has
called you to it and every time God
blesses you every time God is giving you
help that
no matter how little it is and
what you need or what you're expecting
or what you're waiting for in this life
because me I've been so much challenged
by all that because I I have always had
the mindset of
you know but thinking about what you're
saying at times we should even challenge
ourselves have have it every day you've
helped someone that you don't know a
stranger
those things are crazy yeah you've
helped someone
let's challenge and the moment you do
that. Imagine if everyone was helping
somebody somewhere in this country.
>> Like if we had someone like you in every
county, in every area, in every village,
like we would be so far because you like
group of 10 of them.
And they bless you and they speak and
you've helped like you know when you
think about it you don't need millions
of money to actually change a life.
>> Yeah.
>> Wow. Me I am loving loving loving this
conversation. And now if I don't ask you
this questionire
the director is asking
>> [laughter]
>> Are you listening?
Yeah.
[laughter]
Tell us how if someone has some things
she would he or she would want to
channel
and also you can tell us on where your
videos are videos you can tell us if
anyone wants to watch some of the videos
that you've done helping these people
where those videos are posted and also
maybe give us a contact where someone
can channel help if they would like to
also give their help.
>> Yeah. So in my Tik Tok account,
hopegivers,
I'm also a fashionistic
in Roses
collection. But for the charity search
hopegivers, YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok,
Facebook, Hopegivers then
Amazing.
[laughter]
So yeah, you can tell people speak to
people about um giving cuz like you've
said
they are not really like it's not in
them to give but we are encouraging that
people should give. So maybe you can uh
encourage someone or speak to someone
about that and the importance of helping
someone else's life. I've told you help
and
we don't force people to give.
just go with it. That's all.
>> And now what about for people who they
know they can they called like you to
give but challenges
when I give up and they feel like hey
man I think I cannot do this anymore. So
now talk to such kind of a person. They
know that is their calling and they know
if they are not doing it, they are not
in purpose. They are not doing what God
wants them to do. Yes. uh here because
[laughter]
[gasps] anyway
I need direction of my purpose
and then
that's
Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Amazing.
>> And like you say, God God knows
everything. God is in control of
everything. So, um, as long as you let
you leave it to him, as long as you
direct it to him
at the end of the day. Yeah. So, I have
some of the comments here. Let me get to
read them. Let's talk matters of
charity.
helping them. So I see good morning 047
represented.
Thank God.
Amazing. JLo
Nation, good morning. Good morning to
you too. Virginia,
good morning. Good morning to you too
Abu Jes.
Okay, thank you Abu and I see Junior.
Good morning.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much.
So I want to give you an opportunity um
to advise people, speak to someone,
anyone that is watching, whatever you
feel that uh is in your heart that you
would really want to tell them, this is
your chance um to advise them. You never
know who's listening or who's watching
it changed my forever and ever. So yes,
go ahead.
>> Okay. Me to me is to parents
Maybe she died or something happened to
her. Then
then the father is not even concerned.
The moment
behind it,
come on. Come on.
family any issue you guys you go you
discuss
our community will be far
>> wow amazing um like you're saying it's
true most of the time it's the mom the
stepmom
and they feel like they can't continue
staying there and they feel like they
they don't want to to be there anymore
so that's why they're running from home
and men Since when did someone else
become more important than your own
blood, than your own children? Cuz now
the fact that
they they are not kids anymore and they
don't matter anymore and that's how
you've shown this woman. Like that's
crazy. That's your blood. Those are your
children. How do you sleep at night
knowing that
all and you're not even bothered? Like
that's crazy, you know, when you even
think about it. like she has said,
please make sure that um you take care
of your children,
but you're still living together as a
family. And the Bible says the Bible
says that
lend to God and God is the father of
orphans. So the the fact that
the fact that mistreat orphans
it shows that you it's like you're
attacking God. You're fighting with God
directly and it is God who fights their
battles. So are you ready to actually
God? Are you sure you you're in for that
fight? Are you sure you want to really
go ahead? You know because at the end of
the day I am very sure when you start
fighting with God you're not going to
win. Like that's the reality. God God is
above. God is the one that's going to
win. So are you ready for that? Let's
treat these kids visuri. My mom loves my
mom loves telling us that my mom is has
the heart of really helping people and
at times at in the family to a cousin
when she brings them at home takes care
of them. So
they are grownups. They can do their
things. My mom was like
but
God fights their battles. Maybe I am not
ready to fight with God. And that's
true. And also do not bring in someone
if you know you cannot take care of
them.
If you know yourself and you know you
cannot take care of this child visi like
your own, don't bring them in your
family. That is you bringing a curse on
your family because the moment that you
bring yourself up like the moment
you're bringing on yourselves. So
instead of that
at all yes so remind us where we can
find you online as we get to wind up.
Okay. Online I'm hope givers foundation
in Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook and
YouTube. I'm also a fashionist. I'm
retali.
And guys follow I follow back. Yeah.
>> Okay. Amazing. Thank you so much my
people for staying with us to make a
basic blessing. You can find her at
basic blessing on all her social media
platforms. For me, you're going to find
me at Eliza Kimmani on all my social
media platforms. But we taking a very
short break. Nita Rudy with an amazing
discussion. So do not go anywhere. Okay.
This is why in the morning here on Y254
channel. And by the way, my babies are
watching me. Yes, Megan and Jason.
Yes, I've seen you telling me I should
say hello to you. Please after this I
have said hi to you. We are taking a
very very short break but we're coming
back. This is # Y in the morning.
Hey,
true.
