Mortal Shell 2 - Best Settings For Console Players! Change These Now (Best Options For PS & Xbox)
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
In Mortal Shell 2, the creator DPJ shares a comprehensive guide to optimizing console settings for both PlayStation and Xbox players, emphasizing adjustments that enhance combat clarity and responsiveness. He strongly recommends enabling auto-lock-on and off-screen enemy indicators, as these features significantly simplify fighting multiple enemies by highlighting incoming attacks with visual cues like red markers. Additionally, he suggests keeping damage numbers on in a classic format next to the enemy health bar rather than floating, while also advising players to enable free aim and lock-on functionality immediately upon drawing their weapon to maintain better control during intense encounters.
The video further details specific input preferences that streamline gameplay mechanics, such as holding buttons for aiming and blocking instead of toggling them, which prevents accidental inputs and feels more natural to the player. For audio and visual settings, DPJ recommends turning off camera shake entirely except for a minimal level during sprinting, disabling film grain and motion blur to improve screen clarity, and setting the quality preference to performance mode for smoother frame rates. He also advises adjusting controller sensitivity slightly lower if players feel dizzy from high speeds and suggests muting or reducing force feedback on controllers like the Xbox Elite 2 to avoid overwhelming vibrations that can distract during combat.
Regarding user interface and inventory management, the creator suggests enabling auto-pickup for gold to prevent the annoyance of manually collecting scattered currency after defeating enemies, while keeping UI scales small to create a tidier screen layout. He notes that while some settings like camera style are personal preferences, he favors the action mode over immersive for a wider field of view. Finally, he addresses controller button layouts, acknowledging that while his current setup works well for him, players accustomed to different configurations can easily customize them via the start menu, though he finds the dual-function sprint and run buttons slightly confusing at first. Overall, these tweaks are designed to make the Souls-like experience less chaotic and more manageable, especially for those new to the genre or playing on consoles where precise control is vital.

So guys, I am back with yet another
Mortal Shell 2 video. And today guys, I
give you my recommendations in regards
to the best settings to choose on
console. So let's go. How's it going,
guys? My name is DPJ. And if you do
enjoy the video, leave a like. It really
helps out. And if you like what you see
and want to see more, be sure to
subscribe. So having played a little
while now, um, I have changed a few
settings, which I just feel are
definitely recommended. So that's what I
bring you guys today. So in game guys,
press start, then go across to game. And
here we have quite a few. So let's get
into it. Language is obviously your
language clearly. Uh auto lock on. I
definitely recommend you having this on.
I mean, it makes life a lot easier,
especially when you're fighting multiple
enemies at the same time. Offscreen
enemy indicator. This is another setting
that makes life a little easier in
regards to fighting multiple enemies at
the same time. I mean, you just see like
that little red uh from where that
incoming attack is coming. You'll see
this on your screen. You see that little
window there on the right hand side.
It'sn't a must. I will say if you're
used to souls alikes, I mean, it isn't a
must, but I still recommend you having
it, especially early game. Damage
numbers. I mean, I like this on. I
really do. I don't think it is on um
initially, but I like it like classic,
so it's next to actual enemy health bar.
don't like it floating, but you can
indeed turn this off as well. But yeah,
classic is what I like. Target steering.
I have this on default. Uh melee attacks
prioritize nearby enemies in the
direction of aiming. I mean, I tried
turning this um to light and just felt
really weird. So yeah, enable free aim.
No, I've turned this off because guys, I
mean it it will make the game a little
more tricky if you want that kind of
thing. Cool. But I just like it to sort
like lock on to the enemy as soon as I
pull this thing out. It just makes life
easier. Um, aiming input style. I've got
this on hold. I don't want to toggle
this thing. You pull on toggle. That
just so weird. Same with blocking. Um,
you can either hold or toggle. You want
this on hold. Blocking with the power
system in this game as well. Same
button. It's a bit weird. So yeah, auto
pickup gold. I recommend you putting
this on. Otherwise, when you take out
enemies and they're dropping gold all
over the shop, uh you run around picking
it all up. It's kind of annoying to put
this thing on. Uh camera style, I have
this on action. I mean, it's normally on
immersive. It's a little more zoomed in.
I just prefer action. You get like a
little bit more of a screen that you can
actually see there. So, yeah, auto align
camera. You want this on too. Camera
shake. I turn this completely off. I
mean, this is set full initially. I
always turn this off. Uh the sprint
camera shake though I kind of have this
on at a minimum not completely off but a
minimum. Uh user interface UI scale I
have small hood scale I have small. It
just makes my screen a lot tidier a lot
cleaner. So yeah and these are the rest
of these settings right here guys. Uh I
play obviously I'm playing on Xbox so
I'm using controller so I haven't got to
use or do anything about the mouse uh
calibration. Uh in regards to cam uh
controller though I definitely guys have
dodged on turbo. I want to dodge as soon
as I press that button because when
enemies are coming for you, uh, you want
to as soon as you press it, you want
instant response. So, put it on turbo.
Enable force feedback. I mean, I don't
know about anybody else, but playing
with an Elite 2 on Xbox, this game
vibrates so loud. I don't really like
controller vibration anyway, but this
thing is brutal in this game. So, yeah,
I turn this completely off. And also my
controller and aiming sensitivity. I
turned this down slightly. When I first
got into the game, I don't know if it's
because I've been away from my souls
like for a while now. When I first got
into this guys, I was spinning so quick
I was getting dizzy. So yeah, I turn it
slightly down, but that's just that's
just me. That's probably a me problem.
In regards to display here, uh quality
preference, you can either have
performance or indeed um quality. I just
I just prefer performance. Performance
is just way better. quality. If you're
used to a a lower frame rate with better
visuals, go for it. But for me, it just
looks it looks laggy in my opinion. So,
yeah, I turn my brightness up just by
one just because of my my actual monitor
itself. But yeah, you don't need to do
that. Bloom. Um, all these got I've
actually left these on bloom and uh this
one right here. Uh, film grain I turned
off. I noticed straight away soon as I
jumped onto the game, I turned it
straight off. I think it just looks way
better now. Motion blur off. Uh, and
vignet I turn off as well, guys. Don't
want none of these on. Uh, so yeah. And
there we have that. Audio is let me just
forget that. Audio. We're going to go to
audio game. There we go. There we go.
There we go. Just obviously whatever
you're using in regards to speaker
configuration. I'm using headphones. So
yeah. And sometimes, you know, when you
walk through your main hub, some of the
NPCs do kind of shout a little loud and
can kind of scare depending on the
headset you're using or speakers you're
using. So, you may want to mess around
with some of these, but yeah, not too
bad. Controller, there is actually a
button set. You can actually change a
few of these as well. I've actually left
them because I like the way they feel.
Uh, but if you're
used to another kind of layout, you can
indeed just press start. You can see
bottom left hand side of your screen.
Press start and you can indeed change
what you want to change. I'm quite happy
with the way things are to be honest.
The only thing um that kind of confused
me is what run or sprint was both. Um so
hold it and toggle it. That kind of
confused me at first. I just didn't know
what I was doing. But yeah, other than
that guys, I think MKS is quite good. I
like where parry is. I like where
dodges. They're decent. So yeah, but
that's basically it guys and what we
have in regards to my recommendations
for the best settings for Mortal Shell
2. Again, not a massive amount of things
here in regards to what you can do, but
yeah, there were my recommendations.
Anyway, if I missed anything you'd like
to let us know about down below, uh
there is a comment section, so please do
let us know. But guys, I hope you do
enjoy the video. I've got plenty of
videos coming on this game, so stay
tuned. And hopefully guys, I will see
you on that next one.
