AI is this unbelievable tool. We
shouldn't have to use that tool at the
cost of the environment and at the cost
of our own privacy.
>> Green seek is an extension of
my entire life really. We've been
working on this for the whole past 2
years almost on this idea that we could
use open weight models and create a
truly private and sovereign AI system.
We do not sell data to advertisers. We
also do not collaborate with
surveillance state systems.
>> These data centers are a problem. You
know, and I think a lot of people are
waking up to the problem that these data
centers are causing from water
utilization to pollution.
>> Intelligence that does not serve life is
[music] suicidal. Centralizing all of
our AI in this one area and then using
these cheap dirty energy sources is a
wasteful. Basically, I believe that
there's a collusion going on between the
energy companies and the AI companies
and probably the government [music]
right now.
>> You don't say.
>> Gen Z, the younger generation, they
don't want to see their planet destroyed
by technology. It's very powerful where
they're coming from on a lot of
different fronts right now. I would love
to see this technology be able to
empower them. There's so many different
places [music] where we could be using
this to actually improve the situation
and that's our goal with Green Seek and
that's why we call it Green Seek cuz you
know, we're seeking a greener way.
>> One of the experts that you have is this
whole Oracle [music] program that's
working on Pythagorean numerology. Talk
about that a little bit.
>> truly believe that the universe is super
intelligent,
then AI is awesome.
>> So, I have long thought that one of the
great tragedies of our history is the
druidic lineage has largely been
severed. A lineage that was mostly
transmitted orally and when you kill a
bunch of them and suppress their wisdom,
then there's a whole orphaned race of
people that can't trace their way back
to their indigenous roots.
And then here you are,
a bard in the druidic lineage and I
finally get to talk to a [ __ ] druid.
So, thanks for being here, Emilio, and
how did you find your way back to this
lineage?
>> Well, I um I grew up in a family uh my
mother's
roots were in Ireland, the McDermott
family, and uh
when I left home,
came out west, I
I uh ended up attending gatherings with
native and indigenous people.
And one of the talks I had with a uh
native elder in Arizona,
he really directed me
that the mending of the sacred hoop, he
said, was for our people to go back and
find our own ancestral lineage. And he
they spoke of the uh prophecy stone and
the story of the Pahana and the how
there was like a Celtic symbol there.
And having grown up in an Irish
>> what is that? The prophecy stone and the
Pahana?
>> Well, the uh that's the Hopi talk of uh
pre-
pre-invader, pre- uh conquistador times,
there was uh uh
connection between the lost white
brother called the Pahana, um who were a
more indigenous type of European people
that were actually here in North America
and had gone away. Sort of parallels the
Quetzalcoatl story. Um and the uh story
of prophecy rock is that there is
actually a symbol there of the Pahana,
and it's a a Celtic cross, this circle
with the cross in it.
So, I had gone out west to go to these
large uh festival events, and a lot of
people were sort of cultural
appropriating from the Native Americans
or like Rastafarian guys that were white
dreadlock guys who were cultural
appropriating from other cultures.
>> speaks to this this is there's an innate
desire to connect with something
indigenous, something that says like we
are of this land and we remember.
>> Exactly.
>> And so I think all of this appropriation
is actually just a symptom of us not
knowing how to connect back to our own
original lineages.
>> Exactly. And so
uh I was at a circle where uh
somebody was saying down with Babylon
and attacking Babylon and this this
interesting Native American uh Diné
person I met there
uh he had a lot of knowledge of Babylon
and he was sort of questioning why the
people were just parroting these ideas
and when they didn't know anything about
the history of Babylon.
And uh I talked with him and he and he
was the one that gave me this sort of
visionary guidance around your your path
is to go back and find your indigenous
people and find your way. And so
for me that was uh very much in Ireland
and the connection with the Celtic
lineage and I'd already been playing
music and Celtic music and
uh you know, involved in in
musical
uh performance groups like Woodland that
were Celtic oriented. Um and so
I uh
basically
in Sedona in 2004 um we were putting on
these this very large festival called
Fairy Worlds
and I met Clive Calbottson who was uh a
student of Ben Mcgrady, the last druid
uh from there's a very famous
documentary on him.
And uh they had established the Gaelic
order of Ulster and so when Clive met my
wife and I my wife Kelly is a Celtic
harpist um
he and immediately we had an affinity
and he initiated us as bards of the
order. Um and so from there you know, we
continued to build sort of a movement
around indigenous European culture with
our festival bringing over musical
groups from Norway, from uh Ireland,
from all around Europe uh to come
together and bring their different
bodhráns and their harps and their
violins. And so like it became this
whole um major part of my life path was
to help reconnect people back to that
lineage that was indigenous that we had.
So, but that's how I got back to
actually connecting with um,
the Druidic tradition was being
recognized for the work we were doing by
someone from the outside who was already
part of the tradition.
>> Yeah. I think the most exposure that
most people have to Druids is maybe a
little bit in the movies somewhere or at
least the the King Arthur myth. Because
Merlin is not a person, Merlin is a
title and it's a title of the head
wizard of whatever Druidic order that he
was found in or she was found in. I
don't know if there's female Merlins,
but Merlin is the title like head
wizard. And we've made it into a single
person in the story, but it makes sense
because there was a Merlin of some sort
and it's associated with magic and we
kind of understand that they like trees.
But really not a lot more than most of
us understand. So, if you had to explain
like what are the core tenets of Druidic
belief?
>> Mhm.
Well, it's interesting like
when we were living in Arizona where
there was a ancient oak tree there that
we would go to visit and my daughter at
one point said,
"We visit this tree because we're the
people of the oak."
And actually she was very young, she was
like 4 years old and so
um, the connection with the word Druid
and and the connection to the oak and to
the groves, you know, there's there are
things we know through like Pliny the
Elder and through Julius Caesar they
wrote about the affinity for the groves
and that the oak tree. And they wrote
about it as the conquering force that
came and basically wiped out the first
batch of Druids that they found.
>> All of the all that they could.
>> Yeah.
>> And so, you know, and and yet Julius
Caesar had a great respect for the
Druids and he he equated their knowledge
of the stars with like the
the followers of Pythagoras and like
um, that also that they were very like
had a high affinity for uh Her- Hermes
type god like Mercury.
And also that they uh the Druids were
actually a highly educated advanced
people like with with their system of
laws and like their whole society was
was highly educated. Um so they were
sort of like a a their own group within
the Gaelic people, you know? And so um
so yeah, so most of what we know about
the Druids comes from from the Ro- Roman
invaders at the time. Um and um because
the Druids were oral tradition, it's
very difficult to verify even like Ben
Mcgrady's lineage of 2,000 years of his
family that he uh that he was the
claimant to start the Ulster Order. Um
how do we verify an oral tradition? You
know, even the books we have, we don't
know if they're myths or people, you
know, whether it's Pythagoras or Jesus
Christ, these stories are like uh quite
often like written hundreds of years
after the people's lives and so they're,
you know, we we believe them cuz they're
written down, but they're just as much
stories, you know?
>> Right.
>> So I think that that's
at the core like
the hard part about even claiming to be
a a Druid, you know, is to to
not have a written lineage or a story
like a book that goes along with it, you
know, we don't have like a
Koran or we don't have a
>> [laughter]
>> Bible to go with it, you know? But um
but what we do have is uh we do have
like a festival um under- understanding
of like the seasons and and the
festivals and traditions that did live
on that continued now to be like they've
been
a renaissance of them, but we do know
that they also existed. Um things like
Samhain or Halloween, Beltane, like
these cross-quarter events between
solstices and equinoxes
um verifiably have been going on for
thousands of years and so
written in the seasons and in the our
our connection with the trees and with
nature, I think is the actual core to
the entire Druid uh movement, really.
>> So like immersion and cohesion with the
natural cycles, the natural phenomenon.
I mean, when you're talking about
Samhain now, this is an honoring of the
dead. So, there's also obviously a deep
connection with
the
the spiritual body that a human being is
participating in and also in the
veneration of the continuity of that
spiritual body, right?
>> Mhm. Uh well, and what's interesting
about uh the seasonal celebrations um
the larger celebrations in the the
Celtic and Druidic past were actually
not the equinoxes and the solstices, but
they were these events that occurred
exactly halfway in between.
And so, Beltane was like the fest- the
giant festival of fertility, you know?
Um Samhain was the honoring of like
going into the dark half and and of like
the ancestors.
Um and then in the summer, they had, you
know, Lughnasadh. And And actually, my
festival was always based on Lughnasadh,
which is Lughnasadh
is like beginning of the descending of
Lugh, which is like the god of light.
And so, it was beginning the it was a
they called the first harvest, you know?
And so, it was the beginning of the
summer beginning to wane and it was
halfway between summer solstice
and fall equinox. And so, this is really
interesting that we, you know, so much
of what we
can recognize in like astrological
phenomena of like ancient people
recognizing solstices and like people
going to say Stonehenge on summer
solstice.
Um
there was actually these larger
festivals, these fire festivals that
were occurring and so, there was really
like this
eight festivals of the year, um
but the four intermediary festivals were
more uh
weren't necessarily recognized around
the world as much as the solstices and
the equinoxes were.
>> Mhm.
So,
what are the stories of the Merlins, of
the of their kind of mythos? I mean,
obviously, you put on a fairy festival,
so you're kind of immersed in this idea
of these kind of mythical creatures,
astral creatures, if you will.
>> Mhm.
>> What's your understanding? Do you have
stories of, you know, [snorts] either
personal stories or stories you've
heard, maybe transmitted from McGrady or
or other people about, you know, what
were the Druids really capable of at
their peak and what did what world did
they see?
>> Well, I mean, McGrady talks about how
uh the key
feature of a Druid is telepathy.
You know, and as a child I was actually
very attracted to um
learning about ESP, psychic phenomena.
There was a old monastery in my town
south of Boston where I grew up and uh
I would go and take out every book on
any kind of ESP and psychic phenomena,
even though I was only like 8 years old.
To me, those were the things I wanted to
learn about. So, I felt like I was
naturally already attracted to it right
away.
Um but the
Druidic tradition really isn't about
like supernatural powers. It's about a
connection with nature. You know, and
it's about
going and listening within nature and
being truly connected. And that's why I
believe that the groves and the the
connection with the oak
um were so powerful because they that
this was like, you know, the these were
these entities and these these forests
when you go and listen and you connect
in to that network, that's powerful, you
know, and that's what I do now. Like my
my practice is if I need
reconnection, I go I live on uh the
Oregon coast. We have these ancient
Sitka spruce trees that are 30 ft around
out on our land. Um and I go and connect
with the trees. I'm a tree hugger.
>> [laughter]
>> Yeah. I think the Druids were the
original tree huggers, really.
>> Yeah.
>> [clears throat]
>> And it's just recognizing that this is a
tree is not lumber. And unfortunately,
we've gotten in this cultural idea where
it's like, "Oh, yeah, forest, how much
lumber is that?" You know, and we're
trying to reduce it to the function that
we can utilize and extract from it
rather than being like
tree
woah
you know, like what can I learn from
you?
>> Yeah.
>> And it's I mean I think this mindset
permeates all different aspects of
culture and also gives license
to these ideas of dominion over nature.
Like how can we utilize you for our
intention and our best interest? And
that's created this massive scale of
disconnection
which you know, certainly leads into the
project that you know, you've kind of
really leaned into now and creating
Green Seek with this regenerative AI
concept which is like, all right. We
have this new sheen of magic that's
available. Like almost like Merlin
dropped this magic over the land but we
can't do it at the cost to the natural
order.
>> Yeah. Well, that's that's for me like
Green Seek is an extension of what my
experience of coming out west and
participating in uh
uh events that were were protecting like
Big Mountain and uh
helping fund like Southwest Center for
Biological Diversity and you know, I I
got into environmental activism very
young.
And that was connected to my
spirituality as well. Um and so
Green Seek is an extension of
my entire life really. And you know,
I've been involved in building tech for
many, many years. I've built a lot of
apps for a lot of different people.
Um
and
a couple years ago when AI started to
really emerge, I was building some apps
that were integrating AI and I was
looking at the the environmental impacts
but also the privacy impacts of feeding
all of the your personal data but also
like your ideas
into these uh hyper cluster
like entities that were growing in very
quickly. Um and so
I um immediately felt the need to start
working on alternatives and so we've
been working on this for with all of us
2 years almost, um, on this idea that we
could use open weight models and create
a truly private and sovereign AI system.
>> Describe what's an open weight model for
people don't understand.
>> well, rather than using like the large
language models that are commercial,
there's right now there's emerge, uh,
throughout the world like many open
weight models, things like Mistral,
um, or, uh, MiniMax or or DeepSeek, um,
and so there's, uh,
many different developers have built out
like free-to-use open source
>> like open source and open weight are
same basically
>> source, but they're also, uh, models
that aren't being trained by your data
if you set them up on your own servers
basically. And so what we've done is
created like our own inference network,
um, and we also are utilizing, uh,
servers from companies like Crusoe who
are running on geothermal in Iceland or
hydro in, uh, Norway and that are
directly adjacent to the, um, energy
systems. So they're not like buying
credits in Texas and calling themselves
renewable powered, they're actually
using renewable power.
>> Uh-huh.
>> Um, so our server systems are based
within those infrastructures,
um, which, you know, reduces our overall
footprint, uh, environmentally,
but it also, uh, we have the ability to
also be a more sovereign type of
technology,
um, and that's really our goal with this
is to give people privacy and
sovereignty whether they're working on a
project or whether they're asking
personal questions about their life. Uh,
those things shouldn't become products
to be sold to marketing companies.
>> Yeah, 100%. I mean, I've I've gotten
quite interested in in Green Seek and I
actually was so interested that I, you
know, took an investment position just
cuz I really believe in what you're up
to and
the mission behind it I think is so
important because AI is this
unbelievable tool that we now have
access to. And
we shouldn't have to use that tool with
this little bit of shame, like this this
guilty pleasure that we're utilizing at
the cost of the environment and at the
cost of our own privacy. And you came up
with a solution that's as powerful as so
many of the other models that we have
subscriptions to,
but you know, by using these open-weight
open-source models that are actually
routing the questions to the right, you
know, to the right kind of intensity and
and
gravity of intelligence that you need to
route it to, all the way from, you know,
what you call ultra mode, which is, you
know, as good as anything out there,
basically, and something more simple if
you're just asking for a new recipe for
your clam chowder or whatever.
And
but then knowing that it's drawing from
energy that's renewable and that this is
not being sold to the overlords as a way
to actually track us and,
you know, weaponize our own private
information against us, which
unfortunately is a is a growing concern.
>> Yeah. Yeah, well, the adaptive modeling
system,
uh it's critical to be able to use a
small language model for simple
requests, like using a uh hypercluster,
like giant model for something like a
recipe is like hitting an uh thumbtack
with a sledgehammer, you know? Uh it's
like you're you're not using the right
tool, you know? And so, that's one way
we can create like massive efficiency,
um and we're talking like, you know, 50
times less power per user, um easily, by
having the adaptive models system set
up. And then, again, if we can be
drawing that power from renewable
sources, we're greatly reducing the
overall uh environmental impacts. But
then, the privacy impacts are a whole
other piece. And so, we've built into
the actual system are multiple privacy
functions that are
unique. Um so, we have built into the
chat interface the ability to use an
incognito mode
where your your chats aren't stored at
all. They hit the model, they come back
to you.
You go off the page, you come back, it's
gone. It's not on our servers, either,
you know.
>> Mhm.
>> Um it's not on stored on our server. And
then we have
a redaction system
where you can use many different layers
of redaction all the way up to HIPAA
compliance. And when you ask questions,
they're actually redacted at your
device, all the private data, so it
never goes at all into our systems.
And you're able to ask medical
questions. And one of the things that
people have been
dealing with recently is like lawsuits
against lawyers,
against doctors where these
uh
people were using,
you know, commercial AI systems to ask
questions about their patients or about
their lawsuits. And these the state it
was no longer client attorney-client
privilege or HIPAA-compliant. Um we're
building systems to allow people to have
those kind of conversations and do the
research they need to do.
And what we do is we we redact at the
point of entry.
You can choose that mode. You don't have
to use it, but you can choose it inside
of our chat. The third layer is we have
a
dual layer encryption system where you
can set up your own code to then encrypt
your messages on a Of course, it's
already encrypted when it's going
through the pipelines to the internet,
but it creates an encryption point at
our servers and on your own device. So,
if someone else were to open your device
and want to read your chats, they would
need to know your encryption code to be
able to open the chats. Otherwise, they
would just see a blob of letters and
numbers. Um so, you know, these are the
three different layers we already have
in place. We're actually developing
another technology right now, which is
device only, which is basically that the
only storage of your chats would be on
your device. It would not be stored on
the Greenlight servers at all, but yet
they would be able to store your all of
your data locally on your phone or on
your computer and and have your own
basically database on your your actual
device as well.
So, you know, those are things we're
we're building in on a privacy level,
but then there's also our terms of
service, which is that we do not sell
data to advertisers. We do not train on
people's questions
to the because again, we're not building
these models. These models are living on
sovereign servers,
but we're
we do not sell people's data. We also do
not collaborate with surveillance state
systems. And so, people can know that
they're using a system that's safe, that
has like an ethical
boundary within it, whether it's the
technology and the chat itself or it's
our terms of service and our promise.
>> And I mean, that's huge. And for people,
I think
we're in this kind of Goldilocks
[snorts]
period where for the most part, you
know, it's we're safe enough to chat
about most things. Except if you're on
kind of the fringe and you're talking
about your psychedelic ceremony you're
going to, you're going to use signal,
you know, just to be extra safe and etc.
But
very quickly this can turn ugly. You
know, we're seeing arrests in in the UK
for people who are, you know, dissenting
to popular opinion. We've seen this, you
know, throughout the whole
COVID drama that happened where all of
the sudden information became illegal
and the sharing of information would get
you banned and get, you know, and it's
just a we're just a few steps away from
a really dystopian kind of scenario
where dissenting opinions to the
mainstream corporatist norm is a big
problem. So, getting out ahead of that,
I think, is is huge. It's not just about
like, all right, am I going to have
advertisements tailored to me? Like
that's one layer and maybe but don't
want that. That's not that big a deal,
but when you're actually the privacy of
everything that you're talking about and
everything that you're exploring, when
that's
exposed, I mean, that's a significant
risk. So, I think that's a huge, you
know, that's a huge factor for Green
Seed and one of the things that was
attractive, but also
I mean, these data centers are a
problem. You know, and I think a lot of
people are waking up to the problem that
these data centers are causing from
water utilization to pollution. I mean,
like for me to, you know, try and create
like a small little video, it's
basically like an entire mountain valley
for the worth of water. Like just gone.
You know, immediately to to watch a a
cat, you know, ride a seal in the ocean
or whatever the whatever the [ __ ] I want
to see. So, it's like, you know, we're
aware that these things are costing
a lot of environmental damage and it's
not just not water and the air
pollution, it's also, you know, there's
tons of reports of these data centers
coming in and then all of the bees,
you know, leaving or dying from a
certain region because of the massive
amount of EMF that's being put out. And
like a lot of different neighborhoods
are really
fighting tooth and nail to try and
prevent these data centers, these giant
organisms from rising up and just
entirely changing the landscape of where
they live.
>> Yeah, it is a huge problem and
particularly in
Virginia.
Uh
about 35% of the
uh
AI centers are in northern Virginia,
specifically.
And uh they're they're for cheap energy,
you know, and they're working with a
group called Dominion Energy,
um
which is a monopoly of uh power
for that region, basically. And so,
what you have with Dominion is a company
that has a 200-year history of
industrialization,
um pollution, lawsuits around coal ash,
river pollution,
uh and there was before the AI boom a
lot of this stuff was kind of phasing
out. And now we have this like need for
all this energy. And it's being
centralized in this one region around
this one power source and it really puts
a lot of power in the hands of a very
small group of people. Um and Dominion's
got strong political leanings.
Uh has
been endorsed certain
people.
>> Yeah. [laughter] Yeah.
>> Uh heavily financially. Um
And so uh you know uh it's a really
dangerous situation going on where one
power company is at the
crossroads of the entire AI movement
really. And what's happening is really
wasteful on a lot of levels too because
there's there's when it comes to AI like
like low latency is really important to
people, right? When they chat with an AI
they want a fast response. And you know
we're people have short attention span,
you know, we're used to things being
very quickly delivered to us.
And so for inference, like for the
actual like me just asking a question to
the AI, you know, the latency issue is
something that of course they want to
deliver. And so the reason they say that
we're in northern Virginia is that this
is the crossroads of like all the data
fiber networks of the world kind of
coming into this one area.
And that's why, you know, Dominion,
which is an interesting name for the
company,
>> Uh-huh.
>> um needs to be, you know, at the helm of
this entire thing. But the reality is
like the training of AI models is a huge
amount of the actual data of the actual
energy usage. Um and there's no reason
you don't need low latency for that.
That could be done in any region of the
world. It could be done directly
adjacent to renewable energy.
Um but we're doing it in in with these
same kind of dirty power sources. And
then the other side of AI that doesn't
need low latency is say like
large volume batch uh processing. For
example, like I say a college of
medicine
>> is like the is the distance between your
power source and the processing
>> No, latency is like your experience in
the app of how quickly it can do what
you want it to do, right? So, we'll wait
and see. Like, the goal is that the it's
extremely fast, your application, so
people are just able to very quickly
chat to the to the AI and have it
respond really well, quickly.
>> So, that's like proximity to the
servers. Is that Is that what causes
latency?
>> Uh well, I mean, the reason that they
want to have
their uh data centers close to these
fiber networks is to make it them as
fast as possible in their responses to
the people. Um but when it comes
[clears throat] to something like batch
processing millions of images for like,
say, a medical center or a university
that's doing medical research, that kind
of stuff can be done as a background
task. It doesn't need this kind of like
latency response. And so, centralizing
all of our AI in this one area, um and
then you doing all of our training and
our batch processing, and then using
these cheap,
dirty uh energy sources is uh wasteful
and it's it it's basically I believe
that there's some collusion going on uh
between the energy companies and the AI
companies and probably the government
right now.
>> You don't say.
>> [laughter]
>> You don't say.
>> So, you know, again, like
for what we're
we're trying to achieve is to have
direct proximity to renewable renewable
power sources
um in whatever case is possible. And
then again, like, we're not out to train
AI models um we're we're more of a SaaS
platform that allows people to have an
experience with AI, and we use the best
open source models that are available
for that.
>> Mhm.
So, the druid in you has to be like, you
know, you should you have to feel the
ancestors and uh and the oak spirits
being like, "Come on, Amelia. Like,
let's go. Like, this is an important
mission." I mean, that has to be deeply
satisfying to you to know that you're
doing something for real that could have
a significant impact. I mean, if people
actually transfer over to Green Seek,
you know, they can experience the really
the magic of AI in its full breadth and
there's also like a bunch of cool
features you have in there like the
built-in experts and your ability to
create experts and you have a whole
feature set that I've been really stoked
to kind of ideate and experience on
Greenseek.
But also like this is a deep part of
your spiritual calling. You know, I mean
this is like you're doing something
you're creating a product an alternative
instead of like going out and writing
songs against data centers which
certainly has its purpose. You know, you
could bring your bring your Celtic, you
know, instruments out there and be like
no more data centers, you know.
>> Yeah.
>> And like that's one thing but you're
creating an alternative that's more
attractive and I think that's actually
the best way to fight. It's not to fight
against something it's to provide an
alternative that's fundamentally just
more attractive.
>> Yeah, I feel like my entire life has
been leading to this moment of uh this
creating this technology and being able
to have an active role in changing the
future right now with what's happening.
I was on an airplane yesterday coming
here
and this woman was sitting with me and
she said she asked me some questions
about Greenseek cuz we're stuck on the
uh the uh runway for like an hour
waiting.
And we were talking about it she said,
"My daughter hates AI."
And she was like, "She might actually
try this." And you know, we were talking
about it cuz like it's true like
Gen Z, the younger generation, they
don't want to see their planet destroyed
by technology uh just uh consuming all
the water and energy and creating this
massive pollution.
Um and they're very conscious this this
younger people the Gen Z generation is,
you know, that it's very powerful where
they're coming from on a lot of
different fronts right now. Um so again
like
I would love to see this technology be
able to empower them
and uh for them to feel like they can
feel good about using it um and that
becomes an alternative and the the only
way to
change these things is to create an
alternative. you know, I used to think
about back in the like 90s we were like
protesting against GMOs and Trader Joe's
popped up and like food co-ops and
eventually Whole Foods and like suddenly
there was like organic food everywhere
and like you know, the people were not
using all these chemicals to grow their
food and it was all these alternatives,
but it took people creating those
alternatives um to
to take away the power from the
corporate entities that were polluting
and were giving us horrible, you know,
Frankenfoods and whatnot.
>> Right.
>> And so I think this is another time
we're at that moment where it's like if
there's no alternative, what do you do?
People just they're just going to keep
on using they want they want to be able
to research things. They want to be able
to like advance their ideas um and but
then they're married to these platforms
who are like, you know selling their
data,
um polluting the planet and uh working
directly with militarization and like
terrifying futures of, you know, robotic
militarization of AI and so
you know, they don't want to collaborate
with that and so again, that's to me
that's the goal is to give people an
alternative that's something that's like
a more organic food type AI.
>> Yeah, I mean and and I think the
the people who are abstaining entirely
from AI, I mean, I understand and I
fully resonate with the place that most
of them are coming from
and at the same time, I'm like, "Listen,
if you're part of this of the rebel
forces and you're standing against the
destruction of our planet, the
militarization of our information and
the surveillance state that seems
impending unless we resist it like we
need you to be armed with the similar
capabilities as your opponents.
>> Mhm.
>> And like you have to use AI. I mean, I
can't it's only been a couple years now,
but even imagining like life without AI
it's like, "Whoa, that took so long to
do basic things that are now like so
much more effective and so much more
efficient. I mean, it's been an
incredible boon to my life. You know, I
mean, it's from both my own live
journaling practices where I'll just
record things and have it reflect back
to me and point out any, you know,
cognitive behavioral
uh fallacies that I might be like
experiencing in my own cognition and
just be able to reflect and also
receive, you know, what I would normally
write just in a one-way journal where
I'm recording things, which is
important, but now to have this live
function, I mean, that's just one of
a dozen use cases where it's like this
is really important. And the same time,
you know, it's like
[ __ ] what else am I contributing to?
So, I think it's important for like the
daughter of that woman you met to be
like, all right, like stand for what you
want to stand for, but sharpen your
sword, you know, like be effective and
do it in a way where you can trust that
you're not contributing to the darker
parts of what AI can do, but it's
actually strengthening you to stand
stronger in the rebellion.
>> Yeah, well, that daughter could use AI
to fight the AI she hates.
>> Exactly.
>> [laughter]
>> That's what I'm doing.
>> Exactly.
>> Yeah, no, exactly. And
you know, there's a lot of straw man
arguments in the AI situation right now.
Like there's this idea of like super
intelligence that the AI is going to
like turn against us and try to kill us,
you know, like Terminator style. And um
there's also people mad about poetry or
people mad about people using it for
creative things that are kind of
half-assed and sloppy, you know, as they
call it, AI slop. Um but we're we're
missing the point. What especially like
what we're trying to build is something
that's a really powerful research tool
for good ideas, you know, and
I think that that's like the key to AI's
future is its capabilities to make our
lives better, to improve our planet,
make make it so we could actually work
less and play more and enjoy our lives
more.
Um and in in that way I do agree with
some of even the
the you know conversations around
universal income or universal high
income that like if we have systems in
place that are helping reduce work then
we we should work less and enjoy our
lives more and people should be have
better food and we should be have more
you know healthy environment. That's the
goal with it and if it's not serving
those things like intelligence that does
not serve life is suicidal. You know,
it's basically going to cause more and
more harm to to ourselves, to our
children, to our planet. And so that's
you know to us our that's our motto is
intelligence that serves life life um
and that's like to me when we focus
around things like fear of Terminator or
we focus around AI slop as the whole
conversation versus like
what if we were to take this AI and
study soil on a scale that we could
understand like how we could improve our
food systems or if we take the AI and we
do research on how our energy
distribution is not really set up right
in cities and we've got you know huge
wastefulness going on with the way we've
set up our energy infrastructure.
There's so many different places where
we could be using this to actually
improve the situation
um and that's our goal with Green Seek
and that's why we call it Green Seek is
so you know we're seeking a greener way.
And so
the again I think it's important to
separate the hyperbole around fear
fearful fear mongering. I I actually
think there's really things to worry
about with AI.
>> Like what?
>> Like pollution, like selling our data to
to behind our backs, like creating
surveillance state systems that are like
sort of like you know
Minority Report you know and things that
are going on like that. I don't really
think that like people create creating
bad art is the big problem you know or
creating uh you know um bad poetry for
that matter.
>> [laughter]
>> It's pretty bad poetry. I can't tell
very good jokes either, you know.
>> Um and so, you know, I I don't think
that those are the the things we should
be
>> god also, cuz like otherwise, if it was
[laughter] actually able to make music,
art, poetry, jokes as good as we could,
we'd feel really bummed.
>> Yeah, like well, like there's no no need
for us to
>> I'm glad that it has a limit on what it
could do, and I'm sure it'll get better,
and but then we'll get better. It
becomes this kind of Red Queen effect
where it's like, all right. Well, that's
you know, challenge accepted. Now, let
me write better than you can write. And
let me, you know, let me create poetry
better than you can create poetry. Let
me make music better than you can make
music.
>> Mhm.
>> You know, and I and I think there will
be this big pushback to the analog
beauty. I mean, the Odyssey was just
done without any kind of visual effects
or AI effects at all. Even the even the
Cyclops was a giant [ __ ] puppet. The
robotics.
>> Love that.
>> And it's like it's cool, and all the
instrumentation was like old bronze age
instruments that they actually put
together. And the movie's [ __ ]
incredible. You know, and I think
there's something that comes from, oh
[ __ ] like
all right, this is really this has the
human touch, and I think we'll start to
really appreciate that more and [snorts]
more. And so, I think that's only a good
thing.
>> I agree. I'm It's funny that Gen Z kids
are using flip phones. You know, they're
rejecting like the newest iPhone or
Samsung or whatever is going on. They're
They're not really interested in this
whole like
being It's like drawn so far into the
digital and out of the analog, you know?
And when I was in college, like we got
the first computer editors. I I went to
Emerson College mass communication
studies, but I also studied sound
editing and engineering there.
And when the first computer came in, we
were using 2-in tape to record
everything at that point. And a computer
came in, and people were like, this is
this digitalization, you know, the the
staircase of sound. And back then it was
it was was
Like the difference between like a
digital file and a 2-in tape sound, you
know?
>> Right.
>> Um now it's become so like so incredibly
uh
the data's the data curve is like so so
incredibly detailed that it almost
sounds the same, you know?
Um but uh people were you know at at
each phase seems like in history people
reject the next thing that's coming in.
And and it then it improves and iterates
and people finally accept it, you know?
>> Right. I mean there was protests against
the bicycle when it came out, you know?
There was a whole book of like all of
the things that were protested through.
Like
>> Exactly.
>> Bicycle's going to ruin our walking
paths, you know?
>> [laughter]
>> Like [ __ ] people protesting against
it.
>> No, it's so true. And and you know, one
of the things when I
>> just riding like, "See ya. Have fun."
>> Listen, interesting about the words uh
artificial intelligence
and I've been kind of iterating on this
for a while now. So the word artificial,
right? Comes from uh
artificialis, right? Which means to be
finally crafted by the hands of man.
Um and then uh intelligence comes from
intelligere, which means to be able to
discern or to be able to make good
decisions.
So artificial intelligence
means to be finally crafted at making
good decisions, right? The actual words.
But we think of artificial as like
Lucky Charms food poisoning, you know?
Like our food additives that are like,
you know, toxic and fake things, you
know? So in a weird way it's like the
name is perfect if you actually go back
to the Latin phonetics of it. Um but yet
it's got a on it an almost like a
you know, a negative connotation just in
the actual phrase of the words itself,
right? And what we're really talking
about is like six or seven different
types of machine learning when we call
it artificial intelligence. We
bundle it all together.
But you've got completely different
technologies that are involved in it.
And so you have machine learning, you
have like computer like imagery that
built image recognition abilities,
statistic modeling, all these different
versions of uh machine learning that
we're using and under the umbrella of
artificial intelligence. And then
a lot of them have nothing to do with
what people are negative about. A lot of
them are about research and being able
to like for example
uh
we're proposing a project where we would
be able to put cameras say at like the
aquarium in Oregon and be able to film
and also have sound recording for long
periods of time.
And then take that data and better
understand what how animals are
communicating with one another in those
systems. And there's the potential There
are people actually already researching
this
of being able to translate animal
language um
using AI on like a a level we could
never do just by observing.
Um so you know with machine learning and
with deep research modeling, these two
types of things could be like
amazing tools for us and yet we bundle
them all under artificial intelligence
fake this fake kind of like label that
we put on top of everything that has
this negative connotation. So I think
you know
over time we may evolve away from that
language around what we're talking about
cuz it's not necessarily the best label.
They called the car the horseless
carriage for like 40 years.
>> Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
>> And then people eventually started to
saying automobile or cars or whatever
they did, you know? So like it'll be
interesting to see how that like evolves
over time. Like
>> Yeah, I mean I have to say I do prefer
the method of talking to dolphins that
John Lilly did which is handjobs and
LSD. Oh, I thought that was the
preferred way.
>> [laughter]
>> That's a crazy story that he that he got
into.
>> [clears throat]
>> that one completely but
>> [laughter]
>> Handjobs and LSD was his method for
trying to communicate with dolphins. But
yeah, I mean it's it's incredibly
exciting and I've been out to Turks and
Caicos with my friend Kit and he has a
relationship with the wild dolphins
there and they're already in this kind
of pre-formation of communication. He's
been able to mimic sounds and they play
games and I mean it's rad. I mean what a
what a dream to be able to like
communicate on some basic level with
animals and I think AI brings that
possibility far more to the forefront. I
mean I appreciate Lilly for his efforts
and you know, potentially it crossed
some sexual boundaries with the
dolphins. I don't know what their
consent level was but
>> are pretty wild creatures anyway.
>> [laughter]
>> For sure. For sure. So I'm not going to
make any suppositions.
But but yeah, I mean it's it's this is a
new frontier and I think it's it's
important for us to
be able to understand what it can do and
then also what the cost is and then to
have a solution that offers, you know,
something that allows us to have the
full the full weaponization of like what
we can do for our own lives and for the
world and at the same time mitigate the
cost. It's huge and you know, even
seeing like some of the features that
you were able to build in cuz
you're Emilio, the [ __ ] druid and
you're doing cool [ __ ] Like one of the
experts that you have is this whole
Oracle program that's working on
Pythagorean numerology and giving you
card pulls and like it brought me
through this whole world that was like
really
impactful.
>> Mhm.
>> You know, to go through that. So so to I
mean talk about that a little bit
because that's another it's not only the
druidic background but also like
Pythagoras and numbers and some of the
other esoterica that's been kind of a
part of your life.
>> Well, that was a really surreal
experience with you.
>> Yeah.
>> Because we've been working on this idea
of the Oracle Delphi which was building
on the
Pythagorean theories around number as a
core, geometry,
music,
color and cosmos as like the five realms
basically.
Um
there's actually more if you go deeper
into the Pythagorean theories but those
are the ones we're focusing on and how
the the parallels between them exist in
those different spheres of of music and
geometry and whatnot.
And uh
and you tested it out and you pulled a
card number six, right?
>> Mhm.
>> And then you picked up a from your table
the card six and showed it to me.
>> Yeah, totally.
>> said, "How did you do that?"
Now, that's something interesting to me
because there's a lot of potential for
synchronicity and for uh things
happening with computers I think that we
aren't even like
well it's hard to like there's there's a
potential for things to happen and we
can call them coincidences, but for you
know, people are concerned about this
idea of like superintelligence, right?
And you know, if you truly believe that
the universe is superintelligent,
then AI is also.
>> Yeah, it's like it's a kind of this
weird idea that we can create something
that's outside of God.
>> Yeah.
>> If God is everything except for the
thing that we create, it's like, what do
you mean?
>> Well, in that way like something like
that sacred and magical can happen with
technology at times, too.
>> And we've actually seen this with the
random number generators that are
constantly running and then there's
world cohesion either around a positive
event like New Year's Eve or around a
negative event like 9/11 and the random
number generators, they shift from
randomness into like orders of
statistical probability into more
coherence and not random anymore. And
there's been numerous documented cases
of this happening and repeatedly
happening. So, these random number
generators are pure machine intelligence
and still they're being affected by
collective conscious and unconscious
coherence.
>> Mhm. Yeah. Well, and there's like coming
to this interview, like last night I
spent hours um
using Green Seek learning more and more
and more about Pythagorean theories.
Cuz I knew we were going to talk about
it today. I was like, I want to really
get into this further. And so, and one
of the things I got into last night was
this um
square of the sun.
It came up and because I was recently at
an event where somebody who I normally
respect was using the 666 and the devil
over and over in their talk.
Um which are these are very polarizing
things, you know? And uh
And you know, the number 666 is in
Revelations and it's also you know, we
talked about this earlier, Solomon was
supposedly paid 666 talents, which is an
excessive amount of money at the time as
it
caused him to go worship the wrong gods
or something, you know?
Um but preceding that, you have these
ancient uh act people believe they
emerged from China, potentially the six
uh the six
the square of the sun was Persian, um
but you have this this uh square
and it's got six columns and six rows
and the numbers 1 through 36 are aligned
in it. And each row, when it's set when
it's set correctly adds up to 111.
And the entire square adds up to 666.
And so
um with the AI, I was actually able to
go explore this in ways that like I
couldn't even really find the
information that necessary on normal
searches, you know?
Uh and got deeper and deeper into to
looking at and I kept asking like, where
does this number 666 show up before
the Bible, you know? And so, this is
where this the square of the sun came
into it and this was like a a talisman
that they would put at these temples and
in places where they were doing the
rituals and there was different ones.
There was there was a square of there
was the square of like nine or of
Saturn, which was of nine. There's
there's basically different patterns and
the sun was associated with specifically
six.
>> Uh-huh.
>> Um so, I'm digging into this square of
the sun thing and then
Green 6 just brings up, it's also
interesting that carbon
is made from six protons, six electrons,
and six neutrons. Well, so that the the
molecule life
And which is also
hexagonal like the the beehive, right?
And how it connects with with itself to
form the equivalent bonds that is how we
are our life force is stored in these
carbon bodies is also got a 666 tied
into it. So, it's like
And that was only discovered in 1858, I
believe, you know. Um or actually was
theorized in 1858 and the first
photograph of the actual bond was taken
in 2004.
And so, you know, at the core of our own
bodies is this 666 thing, too. So, it's
like again with AI, you can research
something that like that's so complic-
complicated as like people's spiritual
beliefs around this fear of the beast
and how 666 is going to be this like
terrible thing um versus like what was
the actual source of what why were
people associating the magi's magical
square?
And actually like a lot of people say
that the 666 is actually the name of the
Nero.
Um but the actual numerology of Emperor
Nero who was at the time
um was oppressing
uh the Christians. And so,
but his name actually uh adds up to 616.
So,
there just seems like there was somebody
in the middle of it all that was
definitely trying to point to the square
of the sun, the 666s that existed out
there.
>> Well, I think we should be highly
suspect of these things we're taught to
fear.
>> Yeah.
>> And you know, even the number 13.
>> Yeah.
>> You know, what is the number 13? It's
the cycles of the moon. What are the
cycles of the moon associated with? The
goddess. What did all of these
patriarchal religions try to do? Remove
us from our connection to the goddess.
So, what do you want to do? Well, let's
make even the number 13
>> Yeah.
>> forbidden and unlucky. And even to this
day, it's pervasive. Like there's not a
13th row in a [ __ ] airplane or a 13th
floor
in a in a hotel.
>> I was on the Ferris wheel the other
night day with my wife and they had
scraped the number one off the 13
[laughter] on so it was just went from,
you know,
uh 11 to 14 and three between the two,
you know,
>> [laughter]
>> on the Ferris wheel. So, yeah.
>> It's it's absurd and like you start to
look into it and 13 is an incredibly
sacred number and it's [clears throat]
like super important because it actually
reorients us. Again, going back to the
Druidic beliefs, like it reorients us to
the natural cycles, the lunar cycles.
>> Yep.
>> And there's 13 of them every year.
And [snorts] like this is important for
us to reconnect to it, not the kind of
Romanized Julian calendar,
which is
Okay, so October is the is the 10th
month, but oct is eight and it's like
everything is designed to
confuse us and disorient us from the
roots because I think from roots we're
strong. And like we have something to
stand stand on and like actually connect
us, but we can be more far more easily
manipulated if we don't have the
grounding cords connecting us back to
the natural intelligence of life itself.
>> Yeah. No, it's true. I mean and even
that 666 is associated with the beast.
You know, and it's it's like the animal,
the the uh
idea of like a beast and then the lamb
is the good character and the beast is
the bad one, but a lamb is a beast, you
know.
>> [laughter]
>> It is an animal, you know. So, it's
like, you know, again this this paradox
of the language and these like systems.
I I think that this is one of the
interesting things that came up during
this last night was
the name of the company, Dominion
Energy.
Like I was I looked up the word dominion
and it is historical use use of the word
dominion, right? And that goes back also
to the same origins where this idea of
man would have dominion over the beasts
and the animals and man would have
dominion over nature. And the word
dominion was also used to uh come to
North America and they believe they had
dominion over this land and actually in
chattel slavery
they also had dominion over
people.
This word dominion was constantly coming
up. Um so it's interesting that now like
in this moment when this AI
centralization is happening in North of
Virginia, it's causing this massive
pollution. We have this energy company
that's called Dominion.
>> Yeah.
>> And so it's like we kind of need to look
at that word and it like it's it's
really curious to me and again was Green
Seek was like responding to me
and kept on feeding this narrative for
me to look deeper and deeper into it
where I had this thread that went on for
hours and I was like, "Oh my god, this
is really crazy stuff." It's like, "Is
this a coincidence or is this just part
of the like a story that we're living,
you know?"
>> Right. Yeah, I mean it it used to be
able to cross-reference, you know, these
different bodies of knowledge. So like
Rudolf Steiner's knowledge with Manly P.
Hall's Secret Teachings of the Ages plus
Pythagorean number theory plus all of
these other elements,
it would take a master,
you know, or a lifetime of studying the
books of masters to become a master
yourself to actually be able to
utilize all the cross-referencing of all
these bodies of knowledge, but now
we can just do it with prompting the
right question, you know, and leading it
down the right path with, of course, the
appropriate kind of discernment about
what it puts out because it's not that
AI doesn't have biases, it does. It's
not that it can't, you know, do things
in familiar patterns which are annoying,
it will. So we still have to maintain
our discernment, but nonetheless, we
have access to more knowledge than we've
ever had, you know, and instead of
asking a question to a Google search and
then it brings up a couple articles that
maybe you can get close to an answer, it
can synthesize everything and give you
like a proper response. I mean, what a
blessing.
>> It's so powerful. I
you know, I was
when I was younger,
I guess
I'm getting older these days. Um I I had
done a lot of research Fraser's The
Golden Bough and also
Robert Graves The White Goddess and you
know Occidental Mythology by Joseph
Campbell and then you know Secret
Teachings of All Ages Manly P. Hall and
I was trying to synthesize my own
version of like how are all these things
connected these different gods and
mythologies and like the history of the
world and and you know
uh
these fire festivals that are
outlined in Fraser's book. It was
interesting last night I was I was doing
a lot of like cross-referencing and the
AI was highly critical of some things
that I actually
hadn't thought about.
Um and looked at the way that even like
Fraser as an anthropologist had a really
kind of like almost like strangely
derogatory and kind of racist attitude
towards like indigenous people in the
way he wrote about things
um or Robert Graves
selling off things as facts that were
his own mythopoetic ideas, you know.
Um and so it was interesting to like
have now a tool to like look back at
books that I've read and theories that
I've I've thought about and have them
to be like looked at through a
discerning lens of a technology that's
able to actually look at the whole
picture and give me feedback that was
critical I had to rethink my own
thinking
because I realized that I was like wow I
believed completely in this book and
this idea and a lot of it was spurious
and like questionable, you know. And so
I also think that's important as a tool
is like it's it is
it is a reflective tool on our own
thoughts to be able to be more critical
and to to not believe blindly in things,
you know. And I I like the fact that it
often looks at both perspectives.
>> Yeah.
>> And not just mine. It doesn't just I
don't like when AI is uh
you know when it it's just like
>> your ass.
>> I [laughter]
like it to to challenge me, you know.
And so that's that was one of the cool
things for sure. That's right, man.
>> Yeah, it's uh I think we're all starting
to understand how to work with it. And I
think it is
what could be dangerous is if we
give up our own faculties of
discernment. Where it it just says
something and we say, "Oh, okay." That's
it. Because it's still reflecting kind
of the the cultural
information that's presented in the
zeitgeist, you know? So
the whole culture can be wrong about a
variety of different things. Like the
whole culture believed that, you know,
radical mastectomies were the best way
to treat breast cancer. They weren't.
You know, and it took like some really
sharp and courageous doctors to be like,
"No, I don't think this is right." But
if AI existed at that time,
it would have, you know, been like,
"Well, this is the approved science and
this is what everybody's doing, so this
is what it's going to reflect."
So, it's about like getting the best
information, but still not being afraid
to go like, "No, actually I disagree."
But then you can hone your disagreement.
And then I you know, one thing I've
appreciated about my interactions is you
can make headway, you know? If you bring
up a good point and you challenge it and
your point is sound, it'll say, "Good
point."
>> Yeah.
>> You know, and it'll it'll assess and
respond. And it does so without the ego
that a normal person would have, where
they get their feelings hurt.
>> Yeah, he was one of the guys.
>> So, it's like it doesn't have feelings
to get hurt.
>> Mhm.
I think that's one of the dangers of
like corporate control of AI is, you
know, that if we only have these like
government-sanctioned corporate AIs,
you know, the information is going to be
more and more controlled and you won't
get that honest assessment or the two
sides of things. You'll just get the uh
the propaganda version of it, you know?
And um like for instance, last night I
was, you know, I like I mentioned
earlier, I went to Emerson College and
studied mass communications and
one of my teachers was a student of
Marshall McLuhan and you know, the this
concepts of the global village theory
that uh McLuhan was putting out way back
before we had the internet, you know,
he's it was about for him it was TV and
radio and this idea that like eventually
this technology would connect us all and
we would stop having wars and we would
stop
being, you know, ignorant towards other
people's beliefs and you know, it was
going to be this like grand, you know,
technology solution to what's going on
in the world after World War II. Um
and you know, uh
with the internet we thought
the doorway was open, right? For this
global village and then again
these entities came in and they
controlled the social networks, they
controlled our elections, they pumped us
with propaganda, disinformation, they
extracted our data.
Um and so here we are with AI, there's
like another kind of chance at this
global village idea, right? Where it's
like we could fully understand things we
couldn't understand before, we could
communicate across language barriers,
the technology is becoming like more and
more capable of learning about other
cultures, you know, in ways that aren't
a Google search. Like you said, like,
you know, you do a Google search and you
read somebody's Reddit opinion. That's
about what you get out of it, right? One
guy's opinion. Um and so I think we have
this chance again with this global
village idea for this to happen. And
last night again, the AI was challenging
me around Marshall McLuhan and
questioning some of his beliefs, you
know. Um and not to just blindly go on,
you know, there was some things that
were pretty ignorant in in the beliefs
as well. And so I do like the like the
critical nature of it, you know, and I
think that's super important and that's
why again, if if we can be a source of
like a truly
open and like honest system that's not
being controlled by third parties for
spurious reasons. Um
that's what we want to do, you know.
>> Yeah, I mean that's that's essential
because right now
I feel like in some ways
in some ways this global village concept
which had this great potential. I mean,
we see little glimpses of it
potentially, you know, like World Cup,
everybody's coming to the US and like
having a good time and we're all having
a good time and it's like, "Oh [ __ ]
we're all getting along." And then, you
know, here in Austin, there's
even in a neighborhood, there could be
people who feel wildly
separate from each other, you know,
based on your political persuasion or
based on these ideas and they've been
kind of the polarity's been exacerbated
to such a degree that
there's not even any national unity, you
know, let alone global unity.
>> Yeah.
>> And it's it's a very strange time, but
I'm also hopeful that, you know, this
will AI will play a part in helping
people to think because I think
our way of knowing, our general
epistemology, how do we know what we
know, is terrible. You know, like we've
really lost this kind of ability to
think critically and think unemotionally
about things. And so, hopefully, as we
entrain our thinking by something that's
thinking in a better way, our thinking
will improve, you know, and I think
there is some cognitive impairment
concerns that are real, like if you have
AI constantly writing everything that
you need to write, maybe you forget how
to write. Just like nobody knows how to
do long division anymore because a
calculator came and replaced it.
And math is different than writing, of
course, cuz math there's one right
answer, so there's really no purpose to
long division other than training the
mind, but so there may be cognitive
diminishment and at the same time
there's cognitive entrainment where it's
like, "Oh, this is how a structured
argument actually works." You know, and
so I I'm more hopeful than I am
pessimistic about it once we get past
those major issues which Green Seek is
you know, avoiding.
>> Yeah.
Yeah, I mean that for me like I have
carpal tunnel syndrome.
And so
uh I've been using Open Whisper which is
like a local open-source
AI for my computer where I can actually
just hold down a key and talk to my
computer.
So I don't have to type and use the
mouse all the time.
>> Mhm.
>> It's been a huge change in my life and I
think about people that have like
disabilities and all the different
possibilities of how AI could help
somebody to communicate to you know,
different different ways it can help
their lives
cuz I
I consider it a bit of a disability in
that I feel pain when I use the mouse
and try to type. It's very difficult to
but that's carpal tunnel, you know, so
again like
it can solve so many problems, but it's
creating a lot of problems right now and
it's totally understandable why young
people are just like, "Oh my god,
[ __ ] this thing."
>> [laughter]
>> But like I don't want to be part of it.
I don't want to be you know, participate
in something that's going to destroy our
oceans or destroy our rivers or
contribute to this pollution, you know.
Um but it could also be part of solving
that and I I do think like this uh
the history of the last couple hundred
years of like uh
what I think is a lot of like what's
causing conflict in the planet is like
global energy dominance, you know,
really.
Again, this is like at the core of
what's going on with AI at the same time
because like we're heading to a point
where we were like ready to not It's
kind of like disengage from energy
sources that were negative towards our
environment. Um and now it's like, "Oh
no, we we need
more of that and cuz we're going to need
so many data centers." And and why are
we going to need those? Like we've
already hit the point of like
so many people using AI. What are we
going to do with AI that we're going to
need this massive more amount of AI,
right?
It's some I I mean, you know, Elon
Musk's talking about having a hundred
million robots built in the next two
years, you know. So we're going to need
a lot of AI for that, right?
To have robots folding your laundry.
>> [laughter]
>> But I'm not sure people want robots
folding their laundry, you know? I was
thinking earlier I mentioned this like
Roomba. That company's out of business,
iRobot, you know? And like the Roomba
was
not only terrible at vacuuming, it was
annoying, you know?
>> [laughter]
>> And nobody wanted it running around
their house, and eventually and you you
still had to sweep up after the Roomba,
you know, once it once it was off.
>> Although the the YouTube videos of cats
interacting with Roombas is quite
entertaining.
>> good.
>> [laughter]
>> But I think that um I don't I think
that's a miscalculation that everyone
wants like a huge amount of robotics in
their life, you know? We we our lives
like we can make our own pancakes and
fold our laundry, and I don't think we
need to like create data centers
for for to create robots to do those
things for us. Now, if like if we're
successful in like in reducing the
amount of work needed, then we'll have
more time to fold our laundry and make
our pancakes, you know? And and we don't
need to necessarily like
pollute all the rivers and suck all the
energy out of the earth to do it, you
know?
>> Yeah, I mean, I'm trying to think of
I mean, I've always just assumed like,
"Oh, yeah, when there's robots, I'm
going to get one." But like what the
[ __ ] am I going to use it for? You know,
like
uh
it would be nice to have a robot to shag
balls for me when I'm shooting
[laughter] on basketball court. Like
that's helpful, you know? Like cuz it's
helpful to have a person who's out there
willing to do it. If I can I used to be
able to co-opt my sister with some
proper incentivization to go just like
rebound balls and and pass them to me.
But uh ultimately like there's not a lot
of uses Yeah, for robots that I could
think of outside of, you know, I can
imagine
industrial uses that it's super
important if you're trying to repeat the
same task over and over again. That's
kind of a waste of human intelligence to
do that. Although it gives somebody
something to do.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Well, yeah, you look at
China, they have the now these dark
factories making cars.
Um because the entire factory is of
robots.
And they don't actually need light in
the in the factory, as you know. So,
they're like basically the parts are
going in, cars are going out, you know,
the robotics. You know, I don't know
that we need humans to or like sweatshop
labor to be doing these things anymore
like in in these other countries. So,
that's a good if we can
like end slave sweatshop and like
uh other kind of slave labor around the
world and instead have robotics helping
with that, that's great. But like this
idea of like novel human use of like
everything turning into AI robots,
already I think people are pretty turned
off by like the smart home devices like
their fridges and their everything being
like tur- you know, becoming more and
more digitally complicated. It's not
necessarily like a huge improvement in
your life to do these things. And so, I
think we have to look at the tradeoffs
of with AI, too. And and I would rather
have a less
profitable company
with Green Seek and have people using AI
where it's useful and not for like
trite things that are wasteful, you
know? And so, I think that that's
something unfortunately that the the
commercial AI comp- AI companies want to
engage and get people more and more
locked to their screens. And that's why
you have these, like you said, kiss-ass
AIs, you know? It's like, oh, it they
just want to keep you engaged, keep you
going.
I don't think that I think that that's
not a good way to to operate, you know,
for the future of the planet is to get
people to be hy- hyper-consumptive, you
know?
>> Yeah, totally. I mean, it's also pretty
clear where your heart's at in this
mission. I mean, there's a good portion
of the profits from Green Seek that are
going to regenerative causes as well.
You know, it's pretty clear that this
this kind of druidic lineage, this life
purpose is actually soaked through into
this company, which is, you know, one of
the reasons that attracted me to it in
the first place. That and you know, all
of the other cool features that you're
able to like kind of build on the fly
where it's like, could we do this? And
you're like, hell yeah, here's this
whole automated CRM marketing module
that I just spun up real quick. And I'm
like, holy [ __ ] that's what I've always
wanted for my businesses.
>> Yeah.
>> You know, so there's going to be like a
ton of cool things coming through Green
Seek once it gets fully up to speed. And
it's actually in like it's in a good
spot right now, right?
>> Yeah, they um we already have betas out
there with hundreds of people using them
uh the uh web version iOS and Android.
What's interesting with AI is actually
most people use desktop for their AI.
75% of the usage is
on the web on your computer cuz you need
more screen to do a lot of things you
want to do, right?
>> Totally.
>> And one of the things with Green Seek,
you know, there are a few other green AI
companies out there, but it seems to be
very simplistic, just like a chat or
maybe an image generator go with it.
We're really working on creating a
professional workflows with it. Um
so if you go into our system, we have
like uh uh
agent generation capabilities in there
for creativity, for research, for um
being able to create automated tasks,
and it's super user-friendly and easy to
use the system to do those things. You
know, and people are doing those things
inside their terminal on their computer,
let's say like Hermes, you know, they're
able to create agents and do certain
tasks, but a lot of people don't really
know how to use terminal or like engage
in that way.
>> I co-work is like still at the bleeding
edge of my capacity, and I feel like I'm
pretty savvy, and it's still like,
"What?" And like, "Where are you going
to send this information?" Like I got to
keep asking it how to work, and I've
appreciated how intuitive, you know, the
kind of structures that you're building
in are.
>> Yeah, that's what our goal is to really
make like a professional workflow flow
system that like a real like say
a company say like Patagonia, who's very
environmentally focused, super
progressive in how they're dealing with
uh their products and and the the
impacts of their products. We want to be
able to give those kind of companies
tools that are real like not just a
simple chat, because so many companies
are using AI to develop out their next
ideas, you know? And again, if you're
making your next idea with your company,
you want to have that be private. You
don't want to have data being sold over
to to Google Cloud and everywhere else,
you know. So, you know, that's our goal
is to make real professional workflows
that are also renewable energy powered,
uh highly efficient, and data sovereign.
>> Uh-huh.
Yeah, and one of the fun things that
I've done with AI is I prompted to be uh
Harry Seldon from the show Foundation.
This is Isaac Asimov series. It was
Apple TV brought it to a show. It's
great show. And Harry Seldon has this
thing he calls psychohistory where he
predicts the future based on the past.
So, if I want to know what's, you know,
what's going on with the Iran war, for
example, I'll be like, all right, you're
Harry Seldon. You know, give me the
psychohistory. What are the
probabilities of this happening? And it
kind of unlocks the freedom of it to
just think and offer conjectures without
the qualifying statements like, well,
nobody knows, blah blah blah. I was
like, no, you're [ __ ] Harry Seldon.
You're going to give me probabilities.
And it'll be like, okay, sweet. And then
it'll like adopt that role
and then really operate highly
effectively
as as that avatar. And I think building
in that experts feature into Green Seed
where you could just create your own
Harry Seldon expert and it's just loaded
there and the whole history of it rather
than having to re-prompt back to a
normal chat. It's like, all right, we're
talking to Harry Seldon here.
And it's it's
so many things are available just open
to your creativity. You know, and be
like, you're a you know, I want to talk
to a druid. And it can load in
automatically all the druidic knowledge
that's available.
And say like, all right, what do the
druids think about the data centers?
You know, and it'll give you that kind
of opinion.
And that's how [ __ ] cool.
>> Yeah, I actually with my interest in the
secret teachings of all ages, like
loaded it up and have my own search and
like ability to like look into that in
deep ways that having the book you can't
really do, you know? And so like, I
think um
there's just a lot of capabilities to
to look deeper into things with it. One
of the things you just brought up was
the Iran war, too, which um
you know, AI hallucinates.
Even the best. And actually, the larger
these models get,
there's a lot of like
huge models have these big hallucination
problems, you know?
Um
I think that's really dangerous when it
comes to weapons of war.
>> Yeah.
>> You know, and what we saw with the
school in Iran
um and how we're using
certain companies that are being used to
to targeting with with weapon systems
over there. Seems extremely dangerous to
me when we know that these things it it
says at the bottom of every AI
AI can make mistakes, check your work,
you know? You can't check your work when
it's a missile.
>> Yeah.
>> You know, so I do think that that is,
you know
taking a stand against militarization
with our systems, too, and and data
surveillance and those kind of things is
really important to me, too.
>> [ __ ] RoboCops. I mean, they're
already super close to like RoboCop
dogs.
>> Yeah.
>> Like we don't want Robo Cops with guns.
>> Yeah, or nuclear weapons with their own
minds, you know?
>> For sure.
>> [laughter]
>> That is a bad That is a bad plan.
>> Yeah, I know, exactly. So, and and no
matter how much it ever improves, it is
always that possibility of the
hallucination, you know? So, I do think
that that's a a line we kind of we're
drawing at least in our in our own terms
of service, you know?
>> Yeah, totally.
Well, this is, you know, this is an
exciting frontier, and I'm grateful
there's, you know, people like yourself
who are really doing something about it,
cuz it's one thing to
you know, it's maybe helpful to make an
Instagram video about how annoyed you
are with your data center, but is that
really being effective? Like what's
going to really be effective? Well,
you're not using the product the data
center is economically supporting. Like
you want the data centers to go away?
Don't use the [ __ ] data that the data
centers are providing. Yeah. You know,
like you want McDonald's to change its
food to all organic? Stop buying the
non-organic McDonald's food, and it'll
[ __ ] change. You know, like it'll
survive and adapt based upon how we're
voting with our dollars. And so one of
the most important things we can do is
just consciously vote with our dollars.
>> Exactly.
>> You know, so like whether you're
investing in stocks or
even all of these consumer products,
like pay attention to what you're what
you're tacitly supporting.
>> Exactly. Well, and you know, like with
other projects like Green Seek, it's
like of course we'd all like to get
you know, set for life from building a
company. But I think also one of the
things that like say the organic food
movement did is like Walmart's got all
the organic food now, right?
>> Exactly.
>> You know, so like if you if you if you
create a if you create an alternative,
you're going to force those other
companies to have to live up to those
values, too. And we can help so
regardless of how huge we become
the idea that there could be a renewable
part AI, that there could be a AI that
was totally sovereign and data private
and respecting people,
uh people's, you know, their their IP or
their personal questions, um the more we
can drive that narrative and be a
successful company, but also drive the
other companies towards the
that change, that I think that's
critical, too, you know.
>> Yeah. Absolutely.
