Mixed Doubles Teams Revealed for US Open 2026 | Tennis News
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The US Open 2026 has officially revealed its lineup for the mixed doubles competition, which begins early next week, bringing both expected pairings and surprising combinations to the main draw. Top seeds include Sabalenka and Jack Sock, who are likely to be ranked number one due to their high individual standings, alongside Pegula and Fritz, a new team formed after Rublev withdrew from his original pairing with Fritz and Draper decided not to play. Other notable direct entrants feature last year's finalists Swiatek and Ruud reuniting, while defending champions Errani and Vavassori are set to compete again. The field also includes the married couple Fernandez and Tiafoe, as well as Townsend and Zverev, adding a mix of established doubles specialists and singles stars making their debut in mixed events.
A significant highlight of the announcement is the confirmed partnership between Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz, a rumor that was validated after Alcaraz announced his comeback and exchanged social media posts with Serena. The draw also features other interesting combinations such as Muchova and Krejcikova, Navarro and Paul, and Ayala and Auger-Aliassime. However, there is some disappointment regarding the absence of several dedicated doubles players who would have strengthened the field; for instance, Schneider entered as a wildcard because Medvedev withdrew to play in Winston-Salem, and Ostapenko pulled out of her scheduled pairing with Routliffe. Additionally, while many top singles players are participating, it is noted that most of these are not primarily doubles specialists, meaning true doubles teams will likely have to go through qualifying matches on Monday to reach the main draw.
Qualifying for the mixed doubles event will take place on Monday and will feature several combinations that are more traditional in nature, including Siniakova and Patterson, Dabrowski and Heliovaara, Stefani and Skugor, Krunic and Pavic, Melichar and Arevalo, as well as Andre Rublev and Peers Harrison. The tournament organizers hope that some of these genuine doubles teams will succeed in the qualifying rounds to advance into the main draw, thereby providing a better test for the singles players' doubles skills. This setup aims to offer more entertainment value and attract audiences who might not typically follow tennis, although there is still a desire to see more representation from professional doubles teams throughout the event.
As the competition kicks off over the first week of the tournament, fans are encouraged to watch out for entertaining pairings like Sabalenka and Jack Sock, who are expected to be among the most fun teams on court. The presence of these high-profile players alongside emerging doubles talents promises a dynamic mix of styles and strategies. Viewers are invited to share their favorite teams in the comments, as the event serves as both a showcase for top athletes adapting to mixed doubles and an opportunity for dedicated doubles specialists to prove their worth against the singles stars. Ultimately, the tournament aims to balance star power with competitive integrity, ensuring that while the main draw features famous names, there is still room for authentic doubles teams to shine if they can navigate the qualifying process successfully.

All right, so the mixed doubles
competition that starts early next week
for the US Open has all been announced
now. We've got all the teams announced,
and there's been a bit of a surprise
team. We talked about it a couple of
days ago about a rumor, so let's go have
a look at who the teams are. Okay, so
the direct entrants, which are the
players or the teams that got
automatically entered into the main
draw, you've got Sabalenka and Jack
which is probably going to be the number
one seed just because they're the higher
ranked players. You've got Pegula and
Fritz. Pegula was supposed to play with
Draper, and Fritz was supposed to play
with Rublev but Rublev pulled out, and
of course Draper's not playing the US
Open, so they're a new team. Swiatek and
Ruud, last year's finalists, they're
teaming up. Bencic and Cabali, Anisimova
and Townsend, and Schneider who doesn't
have a partner because Medvedev withdrew
to play Winston-Salem this week, so
she's looking for a partner in the wild
card. So you've got the defending
champions, Errani and Vavassori, you've
got Ayala and Auger-Aliassime, Fernandez
and Tiafoe, Townsend and Zverev are
teaming up, Svitolina and Monfils, of
course the married couple. Then you've
got Serena and Alcaraz, which we rumored
a couple of days ago with Alcaraz
announcing his comeback, Serena
commenting on his post, to then now
they're a team, so it all came true.
Muchova and Krejcikova, they're teaming
up as well, and then you've got Navarro
and Paul, and two qualifying teams. Now
these are the qualifying that will
happen on the Monday, and these are
mostly doubles combinations. So you've
got Siniakova and Patterson, Dabrowski
and Heliovaara, Stefani and Skugor,
Krunic and Pavic, Melichar and Arevalo.
Now that was supposed to be Ostapenko,
but she's pulled out. Routliffe and
Glasspool, and then you've got Andre
Rublev and Peers Harrison. But that is
it. That is your lineup, and it's a
little bit of a shame that all the, you
know, the real doubles players, right?
The actual doubles teams are going to
have to play qualifying, but at least
more than last year there's going to be
at least a bunch of doubles teams, if
they qualify, in the main draw of this
thing. And remember last year, the only
doubles combination, or the, you know,
the pure doubles team, which was Errani
and Vavassori, beat the whole field. So
we'll see if that happens again. There
it is, Serena and Alcaraz teaming up,
which we kind of expected when we saw
that, you know, they were kind of
talking to each other on social media.
Um but yeah, it's interesting. I mean,
this is the second year this has
happened this this tournament. Let me
know in the comments below, do you enjoy
the tournament? It was fun last year.
It's a fun, you know, way to bring in
mixed doubles to maybe a crowd that
weren't watching it, but I still would
like more doubles teams. At least
there's a little bit more doubles
representation coming in. Of course,
there are players, you know, like
Townsend, who does play who do play
doubles a lot. So, there are some, you
know, doubles players, but we want some
of those teams so we can learn those
teams. And hopefully, through the
qualifying on Monday, couple of those,
you know, proper doubles, you know,
mixed doubles teams will start playing
each other and then winning into the
into the main draw and then they'll play
the singles players and really test out
how good these singles players are in
the doubles. But, let me know in the
comments below, what's your favorite
team as well because we've got some
really, really fun players playing. I
think Sabalenka and Jack Sock are going
to be really fun. Hopefully, they win a
couple because I think they're going to
be one of the most entertaining teams
going around. But, there it is. That's
the mixed doubles and it's going to be
starting on Monday and it goes over the
first week of the tournament.
