Okay, welcome back. Uh we are studying uh the publication receiving God's guidance. We are in chapter one God our guide and we are looking at the revelation of God's will. Uh how God reveals his will to us in various ways. Firstly, we talked about God's nature. Okay, that what whenever God reveals things in our lives, it will be in accordance with his nature. Okay. The second one is it'll also God reveals things and leads us and it'll always be consistent with his word. We already studied this in the first publication but just like to mention here that sometimes we can wrongly misinterpret or misunderstand what God has spoken in scripture. And I gave an example of how Jesus how the the leaders blamed Jesus and his disciples of breaking the Sabbath. And Jesus said Sabbath was made for man and not man for Sabbath. This means that Jesus was saying hey Sabbath was created for man or for people okay for their good so that they can rest they can rejuvenate. They can spend time communing worshiping God. It was never meant to become a legalistic burden. That means you shouldn't do these things. You have to do these things. So Jesus was explaining um this to the people. And he's saying that doing good on the Sabbath uh like for example showing love, kindness, forgiveness and healing is what also God requires us to do. So Jesus made it clear that such acts were not against God's heart. It's okay to do these things on the Sabbath and it's not against God's heart. So the Sabbath was made for man and not man for Sabbath. But the religious leaders had taken something that God had instituted that God had said and they twisted it in their own interpretation. But Jesus came to reveal the true meaning of the word and gave them the correct interpretation. Okay. Let's look at another example from Acts. Okay. Um now Peter was very hungry, right? U and he was on the terrace. He was waiting for food to be cooked. Okay. What does um and what does Peter see? Remember, huh? He goes into a trance and what does he see? Yeah. Sheep coming from heaven. And what happens? It's filled with all kind of animals and creatures that God had told the Jews not to eat. And God tells him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat." But what does Peter reply? I cannot, Lord. These these are unclean animals and the law says I cannot eat them. And what does God say? What I have made clean do not call unclean. Okay. And then later Peter was led by the Holy Spirit to Cornelius's house. You know the Gentiles are waiting in Cornelius's house. Peter preach is preaching the word before he gives an altar call. They're all cut in their heart. They recognize their sin. They cry out and receive salvation. And what happens? They are filled with the Holy Spirit. And they started speaking in tongues. And at that moment, Peter understood the vision and what God had told him to do. So in that vision, God was actually showing Peter that the gospel is also for the Gentiles. Okay? So sometimes God corrects our misunderstandings or wrong interpretations of the Bible with the right understanding. But we need to remember this that God never contradicts his word. God never contradicts his word. Okay. The third thing, okay, God promises are a revelation of God's will. Okay. you know that there are more than 3,000 promises in God's word. There are more than 3,000 promises. Okay? And these promises are not just written to remain in the pages of the Bible. They are for us to believe and for us to speak over our lives. And these promises are for every area of our lives and for every situations that we face. And God promises indicate his will, his plan, and his purpose. So if you want to know God's plan, purpose, and will for your life, you can read God's promises. God's promises reveal his will, plan, and purpose for our life. Okay? So if you want to know God's will for your life, look at God's promises. Amen. The fourth one is God desires for us to know his will. Amen. So please read Colossians chapter 1 verse 9 and 10. We've already studied this verse but everyone can read Colossians chapter 1 verse 9 and 10. Okay. So, here is Paul's prayer to the church at Colasse. And Paul's prayer shows us that none of us have to lack the knowledge of God's will. Amen. Okay. Now the word knowledge here in the Greek means full complete deep and precise understanding. So each one of us can have a full precise deep and complete understanding of God's will. So you can pray and say God fill me with a complete clear accurate knowledge of your will for my life. This is another prayer that you can make. Say, "God, please fill me with a complete, clear, and accurate knowledge of your will for my life." Now, this passage also reminds us to know God's will, what do we need? To know God's will, what do we need? You already spoke about this in fulfilling God's purpose. Look at that verse. What does it tell us? If you need to know God's will, what should what do you need? Huh? wisdom and spiritual understanding. Where do you get wisdom and spiritual understanding? From God, from God's word. Okay? So the more you read his word, the more you will know his will and the more you will be submissive to doing his will. Amen. So when we walk in his will, what happens? What does it say here in verse 10? When we walk in God's will, what will happen? What's the first thing? >> Verse 10. >> We will walk worthy. Yes. We please him. Yes. We bear fruit or we'll be fruitful. Yes. And we will increase or grow in the knowledge of him. Amen. So when we walk in his will, some of you are asking how do we know if we are walking in God's will. See what how do we know we will walk worthy of him? We will please him. And our important thing is we will bear fruit. Right? If you're not bearing fruit, you need to understand and ask yourself if you are in the right place at the right time doing what God is wanting you to do. and also you will grow in the knowledge of his will. But if we neglect his will, the opposite happens. We will dishonor him. We will displease him. We will remain unfruitful. We will stagnate in our spiritual growth. So many of you will want to know, okay, we're studying God's will for our life. How do I know if I'm really in God's will or plan on purpose for my life? Right? So these things can help you if you know that you're walking worthy of God. You're not dishonoring him, it's pleasing to him and you are bearing fruit, you know, and you are growing spiritually, then you can know that you are in the center of God's will. But if you dis if you if you feel that you're doing things that dishonor him, displeases him, you are not bearing any fruit, you are stagnant in your spiritual growth, then you should know that you are not in the right place at the right time doing what God wants you to do. Okay, let's look at another scripture passage. Ephesians chapter 5 8-10 and verse 17. All of you read it. It's on page number six, please. Ephesians 5:es 8-10 and verse 17. So what is it? What this verse tell us? Verse 17. Therefore, what should we not be? We should not be unwise. What is the meaning of unwise? The Greek word means don't be senseless, foolish, or lacking reflection. So Paul is urging us not to act irrationally, but to use our God-given mind to discern his will. Right? Sometimes we are just so overspiritual just waiting for angels or God's voice to tell us this is the way walking in it you know but God is saying hey I've given you your minds just use your minds to discern my will as well at times okay now the word understand verse 17 do not be unwise but understand what is the meaning of understand in the Greek the word understand means put ideas to together. Now, some of you will ask, "How do I know this is God's will?" You need to put ideas to process things to reason clearly. And this will show us, you know, what God expects of us, what God wants us to do. And also it shows us that God expects us to use our intellect and our critical thinking along with you know using his word to discern his will. Now for example I've already given you this example. You fall in love with an unbeliever. You're waiting and you're praying and praying and praying and you're waiting for some angel Gabriel to come and tell you this is the person or you're waiting for that voice that says yes or waiting for that voice that says no or you're waiting for something in the you know fire like yes or no and things like that and God you're not getting any answer and you're wondering why God is not speaking right why is God not speaking God is saying please lose your mind. My dear, [laughter] I've already told you in the scripture, you cannot be un equally yolked with an unbeliever. Period. There's nothing more I can do about it. Okay? Or like I gave you the example when we were doing fulfilling God's purpose. Susan is happily married, but she's going spiritually. Her husband is busy with work. He's a loving, nice man. She falls in love with the worship leader and she goes to the pastor and she wants to divorce her husband. Right? But Susan is waiting for God to say, "Yes, this is the man, you know, leave your husband, marry this man." She's not hearing anything like that. Why? God hates divorce, you know, un unless it there is, you know, adultery that has happened in the marriage, right? So, you're waiting and there's no answer and you're saying, "Why is not God answering?" God is saying please demand use please read my word you know use your mind please read the word it says I hate divorce right so and you say God should I lie in the situation to get out of this for my boss's anger and wroth God is not giving you any answer why because God will not go contrary to his nature and tell you okay my son my daughter just lie it's okay I will cover it up with my blood No, it's against God's nature. It's and his word says you you cannot lie. Period. Right? You will not hear from God. So sometimes we need to use our mind to understand and critical thinking along with God's word to discern his will. Sometimes we overspiritual spiritualize things. We pray and wait for supernatural signs, you know, when already God has shown us from this word. Okay? and what we need to do and you know uh what how we need to go through life. So it's important you read your the word of God because the word of God very clearly tells us what we should be doing what we should not be doing. Okay. And so sometimes we also need to use our mind right okay now when God reveals his will it's also our responsibility to do what is acceptable to the Lord. Okay. So, look at this. Uh, it says verse verse 10, finding Ephesians chapter 5:10, finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. Now, the Greek, the word in English is acceptable. Acceptable means, okay, you can do it. It's okay. Just enough. Doesn't matter. But the Greek word for acceptable means something much more richer or deeper. It means you know uh it it's here you know do what is acceptable to the Lord means do what is agreeable to the Lord what God agrees with what is well pleasing to the Lord okay without shortcomings without finding intermediate ways okay so God's will is not something that is just average or barely sufficient it is always well pleasing and complete amen So we can find out what is good, acceptable and pleasing will of God. Okay. Now moving on to page 7. Um you know um Deuteronomy chapter 29 29. Okay. Uh regarding the revelation of God's will. Read that quickly. Deuteronomy chapter 29 verse 29. Now sometimes we will not have answers to all our questions pertaining to things in our lives. Okay. And what do we do at those times? Those times we need to understand that God has reserved some answers for himself. Okay. But some things which are revealed to us is for us to know. But some things which is not revealed to us, we can live with peace knowing that this unanswered area or this unanswered question is perhaps because God knows it's not relevant for us to know or it's not important for us to know. Okay? And we can still have peace in that situation and a peace that is beyond our understanding. So when we journey through life, it's not that God is going to reveal everything to us. There are some things he will not reveal and those those times we need to just understand that we need to let go of it and say God you know what is best. You know what is good for my life. You're a good God. You're a loving God. I know the plans you have for me are plans to give me a hope and a future. And I just trust you with it. Even though I cannot understand, even though I cannot get answers for some things, you know, I'm just I'm going to rest God that you know it. If you're not revealing things to me, that means you don't want me to know it and I'm happy with that. And we move on with what God is showing us, indicating, leading, directing, and revealing in our lives. Okay. Now moving on we look at um and uh you know Romans chapter 12 1 and 2 on page number 8. We already studied this in the previous publication. You can all quickly read Romans 12:es 1 and 2. And I will just touch on a few important things there and not repeat what I already taught you. Now when people talk about the will of God, God's will is good, acceptable, and what? Good, acceptable, and what is God's will? Good, acceptable, and perfect. Right. verse two that means God's will always at any given time is good, acceptable and perfect. Okay. Now some people say that by looking at this word acceptable it means that it's the permissive will of God. Okay. Permissive will of God means you know something that God permits. He just allows. Okay. Or God just allowed it. Okay. Is that true? Is acceptable will of God the permissive will of God? Something that God allows? No, that's not true. Acceptable does not mean permissive will of God. Now, God's will is good, pleasing, and acceptable. And it does not say that his will is permissible. Okay? So uh if you want to understand this, we must look at the rest of scripture. Okay. Now in Paul's writing, okay, or in Jesus's teaching or in Jesus's life and ministry, do we see anything like the permissive will of God? Do we see anything like the permissive will of God? God just allowed it. Okay, let me give you an example. Now think carefully. Did Jesus ever tell anyone who came to him for healing? It may not be God's permissive will for you to, you know, get well or it may be God's permissive will for you to remain sick. Did Jesus tell anybody that when they came to him for healing? No. Right. When the crowds came, the multitudes came, Jesus healed them all. That's what the Bible says. He healed them all. So everyone who came to him in faith was healed. So there is no such thing as the permissive will of God. Okay. God permitted the sickness. That means it's God's will in my life. God cannot give us sickness and disease. Is not the author of sickness and disease. So we can't say God permitted this in my life. We can't say God permitted this accident to teach me a lesson so that I can be on bed rest and I spend time reading his word and praying because I'm such a busy man, such a busy woman. I have no time to read God's word and pray or I'm such a busy person that I don't have time for my family. God gave me this accident so that I'm at home for two months, three months. So I spend time with my family. And you can say God, you can say God permitted this. Is that right? No. There is nothing like the permissive will of God. It's not that God gives us sickness or God puts us in an accident to teach us something. No. Okay. So, there is no such thing as the permissive will of God. Now, some people will ask, "What about the fall of man? Adam and Eve, they sinned." If God knew Adam and Eve are going to sin, why did God permit them to allow them to eat the fruit? What do you think is the answer? And they'll ask this question, why didn't God stop them? If he had stopped them, we would have, you know, kept away from all this problems and, you know, troubles that we are facing. Was that the permissive will of God? No. Why? God is sovereign. He gave us the free will to choose. Very good. God is sovereign. He has a will. He's also given us the free will to choose. He doesn't treat us like puppets, right? Or robots. Doesn't tell us don't do this, don't do that, and pull us away. He gives us the free will to choose. Okay? So God gave Adam and Eve the free will to choose whether to obey or disobey. They knew the consequences. They yet chose to disobey. So what about the uh you know the in the wilderness the Israelites ca craved for meat right they said when we were in Egypt we were eating fish and you know cucumbers and melons and everything here in this desert there is no meat they were craving for meat and god gave them what to eat quail right isn't that the permissive will of God is that the permissive will of God or was that the perfect will of God for them? >> Yes, sir. >> Huh? What did God say? You crave for meat, take, eat it. Right? For example, they say that God told the Israelites, "You shall have no king. I am your king." But when the Israelites told Samuel, we want a king, God allowed it. So is that the permissive will of God? That means God allows sometimes. What do you think? Is that the perfect will of God? No. What does God tell the people? He told them, I am your king. And he told them, why I am not giving you a king? Because a king will rule over you and make you as slaves. But why did God allow it? Huh? They demanded. [laughter] Okay, they demanded it. Okay. What else? God has given us a free will to choose. The people were stubborn. So God says if you want it, you have your way. Cho, take it. Whatever you want, do your own thing. But there is a consequences that you face. Right? So God does not treat us like puppets. He gives us the free will to choose. He tells us what is right and wrong. But when he allows us to do does that does not mean that it is the permissive will of God. No, it is not the permissive will of God. It's just God allowing you to do your will or what you want to choose and you have to face the consequences of it. So we cannot interpret scripture and say this is a permissive. God permits us. So we can do it. Are you able to understand? Yes or no? >> Okay. So >> can you define? >> God has given us a free will to choose but he also guides us and leads us. But if we are stubborn and we want to choose our own way, he just allows us. Okay. So he's given us the freedom to choose. How do we know that? Look at Psalms chapter 115 verse 16. Very important verse. Psalm 115 verse16. Quickly read that everybody. Psalm 115:16. Very important verse. What does it say? The heavens belongs to whom? To the Lord. And the earth is given to whom? Yes. He's entrusted it to mankind. So when he entrusted the garden of Eden to Adam and Eve, he told them subdue it and take dominion. That means he told them have authority over the in the garden. This is your dominion. This is your jurisdiction. This is your responsibility. So God in his sovereignity or God in his divine will, plan and purpose will not step outside of what he has entrusted to man and come and interfere. Right? You need to understand that heavens belongs to the Lord. The earth is given to mankind. So whatever happens on the earth, listen carefully, is under our authority, under our responsibility, under our jurisdiction. And God in his sovereigntity, in his divine plan and purpose will not step outside of what he has entrusted to man. So whatever happens on the earth, who's responsible? >> We, right? We are responsible for the choices, the will, the decisions that we make. Yes, if we go to God, he guides us, he leads us, he helps us. But does not that does not mean there is something called the permissive will of God. Whatever happens on the earth is our responsibility. So that is why Jesus asks us to pray, "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." And we are told to bind on earth what is bound in heaven to release on earth to that is released in heaven. God cannot do that for us. That is our responsibility. So if you want to see things in your marriage, in your family, in your business, in your workplace, you cannot keep on going and crying out to God. Yes, you can ask him for wisdom, for direction, for leading. And sometimes you're thinking, why is God not moving? Why is God not answering? God is saying, "Hey, I've given you the authority. I've given you the promises. You have the word of God. Take the word. Take the promises. Speak that over your family, your situations, your workplace, your business, your health, your life, your finances." God cannot do that for us. We're able to understand. So if things happen in our life, we cannot say God allowed it. God permitted it. No, it is our choice. We made it. God just let us do our own will. Right? So whatever happens in your sphere of influence, whether it's in your workplace, whether it's in your business, whether it's in your community, in your house, is your responsibility. You and I have to take that responsibility. We have to speak. We have to declare. We have to bind. We have to release. God cannot do that for us, right? He's we have to co- lababor with God, co-artner with God. He has given that authority to us. Can you can you um uh understand what I'm saying? Yes. Yes or no? Okay. Let me give you another example. Now, every city has a law, right? That you know you people can't murder each other. Okay. So, murder is not allowed. But do people still go ahead and murder people? Yes. So, does that mean that is a permissive law? The law, the government is permitting you to murder. No. Right. The law still remains the same that murder is not allowed and the murderer is caught, he will be punished. Right? So even if murder happens, it does not mean that is a permissive law. You're permitted to do it. No, it's a choice that you have made. Similarly, in the realm of God, there is no, you know, permissive will of God. God's will is good, acceptable, and the perfect will of God. If you're not in the will of God, you are out of the will of God. And there is nothing that is called a permissive will of God. You're able to understand? Yes. Okay. Now, the reason why people think there is a permissive will of God because they misunderstand or they misinterpret all of these scripture passages. God allowed um you know, Abraham to take Hagar as his wife. Uh sorry. Yeah, Agar as his wife. God allowed a king for the Israelites. God allowed, you know, gave mana and quail when the people murmured. So even I can murmur, grumble against God. God will allow things in my life. No, it's not that God has permitted it. It's just that he has given us up to our own choices. You're able to understand? Yes. Okay. Let's move on. Okay. Now God leads and guides us but we have to take the responsibility. So what is our responsibility? Wake him up. What is our responsibility? Okay page number 10. What is our responsibility? We need to seek, listen and obey. Okay. So God is willing to lead, guide, instruct us. But the first thing we need to do is seek. Okay? What uh when we seek him, we discover the revelations of the things that he wants us to do. Look at Jeremiah 29 verse 12 and 13 on top of page number 11. When we seek God, what will God do? When we seek him, we will find him. God will make himself known to us. When we seek him wholeheartedly, God will make himself known to us. So God is looking for wholehearted response. Okay, look at Jeremiah 33:3. What does our seeking lead to? finding. Okay. God says, "Call upon me and I will answer you, show you great and mighty things which you do not know." So if you want to know great and mighty things of God, what should you do? Don't run to a prophet. What should you do? If you want to know great and mighty things about God, call upon God. Seek him. When you seek him, it leads to finding. So when we earnestly desire to know his will to inquire about his direction, we receive his guidance and his understanding. Matthew chapter 7 verse 7 and 8 also on page number 11. You can read that it's a promise here. But also what do we need to do? What are the three things we need to do? Ask >> seek and knock. Okay. When you when you seek what you will do, you will will find. Yes. When you seek God wholeheartedly, you will find him. Okay. So, we need to seek his guidance during the normal course of our life. Each step of the day, many times throughout the day, we can even seek his guidance, you know, for life plans. But what should we do? We need to tune our hearts and minds to hear from him. Okay. But when it comes to major decisions, maybe sometimes we need more focus time of seeking God. That might be seasons of fasting, praying, just waiting on God, just spending extra time reading his word, praying to understand what are, you know, God's leading for the major decisions in our life. And at those times it's important to seek him intentionally. Okay. There are also times when we are not actively seeking God's guidance but he still chooses to guide us irrespective of that. He can break in, he can speak to us and he can reveal uh things to us even when we are not expecting God to speak. Okay. So there are some unexpected moments when even God directs and leads us. So the first thing is seeking. What is the second thing? listening. Yes. John chapter 10 1-5 and verse 27 it says says the sheep hears whose voice? The shepherd's voice. So the sheep are always tuned to the shepherd's voice. So when the shepherd calls them, you can see the sheep running towards the shepherd. But they will not follow a stranger because they don't recognize the stranger's voice. Okay. In the same way, we need to tune our heart and mind to hear God. Sometimes we can say, I'm asking God, but he's not guiding me. I'm asking God, but I'm not able to listen. It's because we are so used to hearing strangers voice, your own desires, your own uh will, the world's voice, your friends voice, the opinions of this world, and you're not tuned in to understand and listen to God or to the Holy Spirit. Okay? Uh look at what Psalms chapter 23 verse 3 and 4 says, page number 14. Read that. Psalm 23 3 and 4. >> How does God guide us? How does God guide us in this verses three and four? >> He restores my soul, >> his rod and his [snorts] staff. Right. And the shepherd's voice. The shepherd's voice. You see the shepherd have a stick. Okay. His rod or his staff. Okay. So God's voice, rod and staff are different pictures that God uses to show his guidance in our lives as our shepherd to keep us in the right path. Now sometimes when you see I don't know if you've seen a shepherd leading his sheep. Where is a shepherd? sometimes in the front. Okay. And the sheep are following him and he keeps making his voice so they know they're following. Sometimes where is a shepherd? At the back. And the sheep are going in the front. Now, why do you think sometimes a shepherd is in the front? Sometimes why is he at the back? When is he going in the front? Huh? >> Sorry. >> Sorry. loudly please. >> When does he walk in? When does the shepherd walk in the front? >> Even uh >> ah when the path is not familiar. Very good. When the path of the the sheep are not familiar with that path, the shepherd is walking in the front and he leads them. Why do you think sometimes the shepherd is walking at the back? And a sheep are going in the front. >> Maybe the shepherd doesn't know the way. >> He protects one. He protects. >> The path is familiar. The sheep know this is the path and they just walk in it. So sometimes the shepherd stays at the back with his staff. He just keeps tapping. Then he pulls some sheep who are little naughty, you know, run away. They bring him in the path, correct them from straying away and keep them on course. So God leads us in both ways. Sometimes he goes ahead of us, sometimes he's guiding us from behind, you know, sometimes he is just walking along with us. We need to just listen and follow him. Okay. What's the last thing that we need to do? Obey. Okay. If you need to know God's will, plan and purpose or his guidance in our life, we have to have a heart of obedience and faith. Is obedience always nice? Is it always nice? Is obedience always nice? No. Sometimes it is difficult, painful, okay, to obey. And even when it's difficult, we need to still obey God. Look at Psalm 3:32 on page number 14. Okay. Okay. Understood. The secret council of the Lord is with the upright. Who is the upright person? One who does what is right in the eyes of God. So one who is obedient, submissive and willing to do the father's will. So when you are upright, God will reveal his plan and his will in your life. Amen. Okay. There's a very interesting question here from Annie Matthew. She says, "Can you please define permissive will and acceptable will? What is the difference between the two?" Permissive will, there is nothing called a permissive will in the Bible. We don't read the per there's nothing called a permissive will. But permissive will means some people think that God's acceptable will is his permissive will. That means he just allows them to do what they want to do. So they think that is the acceptable will of God. But it's just actually God permitting to them to do what they will and what they choose. So there is no nothing called a permissive will of God in the Bible. When God permits us to do anything, it is just saying hey you do what you want to do and what you choose. That is your will. Whatever you want to do. The acceptable will of God is what is approving of God. What is God's good, perfect will? What he accepts? What is his plan and his purpose for your life? Now, what is the difference between the two? Okay, I will um give you the same example. So, for example, if you um >> if you want to you know um >> yeah say okay you want to marry somebody okay and you're looking for proposals and you get um um you know uh a believer okay you're a believer you want to marry a believer you have some criteria in your mind you see everything fits you pray and you know that this is starting off with the acceptable will of God that is acceptable able that you marry. This is an age for you to marry. Okay? And you're marrying looking for somebody who is a believer who loves the Lord, who is growing spiritually and you know that is the acceptable will of God. Okay? But you want to marry and you fall in love with a unbeliever and you are not willing to let go. You're not willing to obey God. you're willing to just, you know, you want to just marry that person and you keep praying and like I gave you the example, you know, every time you're reading it's about love. The Bible or you're listening to a sermon, it's all about love. Everywhere you're going, it's all about love. And you think that is one way of God speaking and telling you you can marry this person and you say, "God has permitted you to do it or God has accepted that person as your life partner." No, that is not God's acceptable will because it is not God's will and we read it in the Bible. It's not God's will for us to be unequally yolked with an unbeliever to marry an unbeliever. But you are just going ahead and marrying that person doesn't mean that is the permissive will of God. God is permitting you to do it that so that you can lead him to Christ. That is all those things you are imagining, you are contemplating, you are planning, but that is not God's plan. And so you think that is a permissive will of God. God is permitting you to do. But God is actually saying, "Hey, I've already given you the guidelines. I've already told you the standard. I've already told you what you should do, what you shouldn't do. If you're going ahead and doing it, that is something that is your choice, your will. Your will is not aligned my with my will. and you will have to face the consequences of that choice.
