Furthermore, the new architecture brings robust security enhancements, including Intel Trust Domain Extensions for confidential computing and post-quantum encryption algorithms. These built-in security tools provide a stronger defense against emerging threats while ensuring data privacy during both migration and daily operations.
To assist organizations in planning their transition, Intel provides the Xeon Processor Advisor tool, which automates the creation of migration roadmaps and financial justifications. This tool analyzes the current infrastructure state and maps it to the sixth-generation platform, offering clear insights into cost savings and performance density improvements. By eliminating the need for months of manual documentation, this solution empowers IT teams to present a compelling financial case to executive leadership quickly. Intel is really happy to be working with
the Red Hat OpenShift team. We're really
excited about
working with
Red Hat on virtualization. By upgrading
to Xeon 6, you're getting better
overall density of your VMs. You're
increasing your TCO um
that you're moving to an architecture
that'll be AI-ready
with better security um and faster
migration time. So, we talk about
migrating onto
Red Hat OpenShift, what are we talking
about? What are the what are the process
of actually doing the migration?
So, first thing you're going to do is
you're going to pick your targets. So,
you're going to have some older
VMs and you're going to want to migrate
them. First thing you do is you pick out
the ones that you want to move.
You're then going to select the
resources,
the storage and networks that you're
going to move them to.
Then you're going to begin your
migration over to Xeon 6.
Once that migration is completed, you'll
be able to spin up those VMs and manage
them from within a single interface. The
big thing about OpenShift is now you're
able to manage both your containers and
your VMs from one common interface,
right? They're really simplifying your
overall IT infrastructure and everything
is manageable through the virtual
through the Red Hat interface.
Along with it, by migrating to Xeon 6,
you're bringing in all of the AI
capabilities of Xeon, leveraging
AMX or advanced matrix extensions,
giving you the ability to do things like
natural language processing, image
detection and recognition,
uh,
systems and LLMs.
Additionally, you're bringing in
enhanced security, uh, whether that be
TDX for, uh, confidential computing
or post-quantum encryption, there's a
lot of additional security tools that
are built in to, uh, Xeon 6.
One of the tools that Intel gives you so
that you can figure out what your
migration path is going to look like is
Intel's XPA tool or Xeon processor
advisor. The Xeon processor advisor tool
helps you with your laptop
infrastructure environment by basically
taking the current state of your
environment, letting you
cost that out, saying, "Okay, here's
where I what I've got in my environment
currently, uh, second-generation Xeon
running X, Y, or Z." And then allows you
to map that to a sixth-generation
platform, and then being able to show
you what that's going to look like,
helping you to better represent to your
management team
what this looks like, helping you do the
homework on what that what's involved.
We've seen organizations spend months
trying to put together the documentation
to kind of show what the value is going
to be when they end up at the end of a
migration.
This tool really kind of shortcuts that
and helps you have a good way of
representing the overall cost savings,
uh, and the the density that you're
going to get
from that migration.
Uh, and we're really happy to be able to
work with our partners at Red Hat, um,
to to do that and to make it easier on
IT teams that are trying to make that
financial case to their executives.
