Video summary
Michael Fulmer expressed profound gratitude and excitement regarding his debut as a Yankee, emphasizing that there is no other place he would rather be. He described the adrenaline of stepping into high-pressure situations in New York as particularly special, noting that while it feels good to return to the game after scoring runs for his previous team, the ultimate goal remains efficiency and securing outs quickly. Fulmer highlighted the welcoming atmosphere of the clubhouse and the open arms extended by his new teammates, calling the experience truly unique and something he has always admired about playing as a visitor but now gets to enjoy from home.
The interview revealed that the last 24 hours had been incredibly chaotic for Fulmer, culminating in a phone call confirming his move away from Scranton to New York. He credited the offense, along with specific teammates like Elmer, Tim, and Paul, for their crucial contributions during the inning where he entered the game. Fulmer acknowledged that while results will matter significantly in these late-inning relief roles, his primary focus is simply doing his job effectively to get the ball to the next pitcher. He noted the distinct difference between pitching as a visitor versus a home player, stating that hearing the crowd support his own team adds a special dimension to the experience that he has always valued.
Looking toward the future, Fulmer expressed hope that he will earn a permanent spot on the roster by controlling what he can control and striving to win games regardless of circumstances. He understands that results are paramount in securing a role, especially in the competitive environment of New York, but his commitment is to give maximum effort whenever his name is called. Ultimately, he views this opportunity as a chance to prove himself and contribute to the team's success, driven by a desire to do the best possible job for the Yankees and help them achieve victory.

Aaron put you in in a a pretty tough
spot there in that eighth inning. And he
said after you got out of it, welcome to
the Yankees. And you said, "No other
way. I'd rather have it." Just what was
the adrenaline like when you were out
there in that moment?
>> Yeah, uh it felt good to be back out
there in situations like that. Um you
know, it's always easier when you're
supposed to be in the game in a 3-3 ball
game. Uh and we score four runs in the
bottom of the seventh there. Uh it's
nice. You can breathe a little bit
better. Um but after, you know, after an
inning like that, you got to have a
shutdown inning. My goal is to get, you
know, one, two, three, as as as quick as
I can, as efficient as I could. So, I'm
just thankful for the opportunity,
blessed for the opportunity to be here,
and just happy to be uh on this team in
this atmosphere, and guys have welcomed
me with open arms, and uh it's truly
something special here.
>> How crazy has the last 48 hours been for
you?
>> Uh pretty crazy. I mean, I wouldn't even
call it 48 hours. I'd be uh probably 24
hours at this point. Uh by the time
everything got done, signed uh last
night. um in the phone call to say that
hey you're not going to to Scranton,
you're going uh coming here. So um again
just just thankful and um you know Aaron
asked me uh what's it like for that
situation? I said no other place I you
know I'd rather be. Um I've kind of done
that my whole career as as far as
relieving goes and uh situations like
that. I feel like my stuff plays up a
little bit. Um, obviously results are
going to matter a lot more in those
situations, but uh just trying to do my
job and and get it to the next guy and
um you know, credit to the offense,
credit to Elmer, uh Tim and and Paul
with a with a huge inning there. So, um
it's a team game and you know, the guys
around here, they they did the jobs
today.
>> Different pitching here as a home player
as that visitor.
>> Yeah. Uh you know, it was nice to to
kind of hear the boost for the the other
team now. Um, you know, it's just
there's just something special about
playing here and I've always thought
that as a visiting player as well. Um,
being able to pitch here as is a once in
a lifetime opportunity. Um, and just
being able to do it as a home player
means means a lot more.
>> Say that there's some roles open here
and opportunities. Uh, do you feel like
uh you're in here to stay? What what's
your feeling on this opportunity?
>> You know, I hope so. Uh, I'm going to
control the things I can control and
that's to put up zeros and and try to
win ball games no matter what. Um,
that's the goal for for everybody here.
Um, you know, this opportunity for me is
I just want a place where I can I can
try to earn a spot and obviously results
are going to mean the most with that
with that situation. Um, so that's all
I'm here to do is is no matter how or
when, um, is just when my name's called,
try to try to do the best I can and and
come out with a with a W for the
