[music] There really is a new battery out there that is half of the weight of today's battery and twice the capacity that can be made with the lower cost using locally available materials. [music] [music] I believe all human life is created equally and all people are equal. And it really keeps me up at night that 600 million people don't have electricity. I have spent the last at least 13 years of my life doing basically nothing but thinking about batteries [music] and the impact of enabling batteries and and energy stability and how it could impact the world. [music] >> [music] >> He invented the lithium metal battery [music] and it should have been the battery that was commercialized, but it wasn't. [music] And I could not stop thinking about this until I had figured out why. [music] [music] So think about your kitchen sink and you put soap on a sponge and then you put that sponge in a pan and it delivers the soap. That is [music] literally all gravite does in your battery and you need a lot of it. You need six carbon atoms to host one lithium. So if you want to improve the energy density and have a battery that is half of the weight [music] and twice the capacity, you simply need to eliminate graphite. [music] And how do we do that? By using pure lithium metal. [music] >> [music] >> It's a very quick process [music] and because I don't need traditional lithium compounds that are used in today's battery, [music] I can bring these batteries online very very very quickly. >> [music] >> I think where we're going to see a lot more impact is in markets like the two and three-wheel market in [music] India, which I'm incredibly passionate about because cracking that market will dramatically change the air quality in India and have a direct [music] improvement in people's lives. >> [music] >> It's also a traditionally very maledominated space. So, there's just inherent [music] skepticism that comes along with that. And of course, the challenges um of raising capital that are not at all unique [music] to me. Last year in the United States, women received 1.2% of all venture capital. The year [music] before it was 2%. And here's a fun fact for you. Of all the companies that have [music] ever been public that a founder took from beginning to public, only 30 of them were were women.
