Good morning and welcome to Sunday morning coffee with Bridget. We are out walking on this beautiful May morning. It's really gorgeous today. It's beautiful weather and the sky is very blue and the sun is shining. You might be able to hear the birds. I hope you can from time to time as we're talking. Ooh. What a time. What a time. I hope that this episode can help to remind you that even though things outside of your control can be hectic and crazy and confusing I hope this episode reminds you that you have choice. You do. You yourself as you are exactly as you are right now imperfect flawed and maybe even down. Maybe you're feeling kind of low. However you are showing up right now, however you are feeling right now and it's natural. It's completely normal and natural to feel exactly how you feel to be exactly where you're at. Oh, you can be frustrated. You can be disappointed. And for some you might actually feel exhilarated, happy, optimistic, hopeful. Wherever where ever you are, whatever you are feeling it's valid. 100% valid because nobody, not me, not your best friend, not your partner, nobody, not your counselor, nobody knows exactly what the perfect formula or combination of you is. Nobody ever will deeply and truly and wholly completely understand you because you're not supposed to be understood. We are here on this planet at this time to be connected, to understand the meaning of connection, to work in the practice of compassion as we connect to allow ourselves to have some conflict, to have some confusion and to move through those things because relationship is the whole point of this experiment. This lifetime, this timeline for you personally and for all of us inter- personally. And through connection we have these experiences, which is why it's confusing. And it doesn't have to be overly complicated if you can afford yourself the opportunity to sink into this truth, which is you are so incredibly important. >> [laughter] >> See? Rosie just said, "You're important." You're important. You are important to this lifetime of experience. The experiences that you're cultivating. You have choice. You may not have control, but you have choice. You have choice in connection. You have choice in conflict. You have choice in confusion. And you have choice in compassion. We have lots of C words here. Can you think of any others? Mhm? >> [snorts and sighs] >> Be conscious of the compassion that you seek within your soul. Cuz that's part of why when you feel so bad, so down, so low, you feel the disconnect. You've lost that innate connection to compassion for yourself, to yourself, and through yourself, for you. And compassion is the closest thing we'll ever have to understanding, to allowing each one of us to be different on different days and different ways, and to allow us to experience the same scenario, but in such a variety of ways that we cannot possibly comprehend how different and unique our own personal viewpoints are to that exact same, seemingly same experience. But we can cultivate through compassion connection. And in relationship with one another, we learn and we grow and we understand a little bit better, a little bit more, a little bit deeper ourself and what it means to be a soul. Why we came to this human body, and why we are sharing in relationship, in connection, this moment. These moments. In these times, what I find works for me is to notice the simple and pure moments that I have to connect with beauty, with hope, with the basics of the day that inspire me. Like when I see the sunrise, I take a moment and I breathe it in and I'm like, "Ah, [sighs and gasps] yes. Look at that. The color, [clears throat] the hue, the vibration. And in some mornings, the lack of. In some mornings, I wake up and there's not sun shine directly in my window, but there's light. There's a calming, soothing, cooling color to the sky, a calm to the day, a hue of peacefulness when the sun isn't shining vibrant in all of its colors in the sky. So whatever the day brings, whatever that morning through my window shows me, I feel the connection. And I appreciate the moment. And maybe it's because of all that I've been through. Could be. I remember being in a hospital bed and not seeing outside. Well, I looked outside and I saw a brick wall and then the top of a roof where there was like some kind of machinery or equipment or I don't know. Furnace e air conditioning thing or something. It just was very industrial. But not seeing the sun, not being able to get out of bed and walk to a different room and see that the sun was shining outside and that there were some clouds in the sky and it was a pretty day. But not even being able to go outside, not even being able to open a window. And now comparison isn't something we encourage necessarily, but it's a natural thing. Comparison not for competition's sake, but to understand where we're at right now is natural. I think that is natural. As long as the conflicted parts of ourselves don't cause chaos. Don't hurt us in those moments when we compare. >> [snorts] >> In the gap in the space in between there's appreciation that grows. There is a deepening sense of gratitude that supports that scaffolds up connection and allows us to begin the process of understanding, which we will not complete in this lifetime. You will not. I promise you that. You will never be understood and you will not understand in this lifetime. You will not. Because the moment you leave this body and you're in that in between space, all that escapes. There's no need for it. There's no longer an edge. There's just peace. And so for now, practice those moments through compassion and simplicity as you greet the day. As you face the mirror, as you brush your teeth, not to focus on the flaws, but to acknowledge the humanity and the courage it takes to wake up, to get up, to move into, to choose the day. Gently, maybe sheepishly, >> [sighs] >> maybe not all that excited, but nonetheless, you're moving into what's next. I see you. I feel you. Through this connection, this relationship, please receive the compassion that is available to you today as you move throughout those quiet, those seemingly very, very subtle moments of connection, of compassion, of caring, because they're here. Like little shots of espresso to boost you, to remind you of your soul and your spirit and how bright of a light you are. This is Bridget. Thank you so much for listening to Sunday morning coffee with Bridget. I appreciate you being here. I hope your spirit has been uplifted and your humanity has been inspired at least with a seedling of hope today. Thanks for listening.
