Welcome to Toffee TV. It is the Everton news daily. Mauro Icardi is the latest free agent to be linked with Everton. Uh obviously a week ago was uh the day the transfer window shut and obviously we never got what we wanted and Everton are now uh having a little look around and Icardi is the latest name uh to be linked with us. 33-year-old, 16 goals and three assists in 47 appearances for Gala- Galatasaray last season. Um yeah, it's one of them, isn't it? It's it's it's whether it's whether we can get by and how long we can get by for with the players we've got. Obviously we've mostly got one game a week till December. Um and obviously there's a three-week break coming up as well, which will hopefully refresh some of those some of the legs. Um but once we get past that, then it it you know, it's it's it's going to be full on for a while and as I said, coming on till December. I don't get me wrong, it's not you know, it's not we haven't got European football, that's not that's not getting in the way. Of course we do have the Carabao Cup and obviously we're playing next week. So with only having that one forward and I know a lot of people still got the the issues with body, it's up to him to to just learn and get better game by game. It will be interesting to have one of these experienced players at the club and see how they would rub off. I mean, someone like him or Martial, would it be the worst thing in the world for them to come to the club on a on a for a year, for less than a year and maybe in another year off the back of that. Um I don't I don't know. I mean I'm old enough to remember Everton bringing in players and having different kinds of experience at the club. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it works short-term and it does suit everybody. Um Icardi over the years is is has has been hit and miss. I remember when he was at Inter. And you know, there was all kinds of problems cuz his wife was the his agent and then he got into a bit of a spat with her. So, it it it all it Yeah, he's he's a colorful character is what I'd say. Um but listen, I wouldn't I wouldn't have any issue with bringing in a player you know, even in the in the 30s just to see over the course of a year what they could do. Obviously, it wouldn't be big wages. These players aren't playing football. Beggars can't be choosers, you know what I mean? So, it will be interesting to see how long Everton this you know, because the longer it goes on, it might be a case of well, we can't get to January cuz that's what we're talking about, aren't we? We're someone getting to January. And maybe we can do something in January. Um it depends what they believe they can do in January as well, I suppose. What targets are they? So, we'll have to wait and see on that one. Um but I'm sure we're going to be linked with many a player many a player. Uh young Everton goalkeeper Douglas Lukjaniks has joined Southport on loan. 18-year-old goalkeeper. Um I think he's quite highly regarded. He's gone to Southport. Um obviously only down the road. Uh and you know what what's great about goalkeepers going on loan even at this level? They'll get tested. It's not like playing outfield. I think you know, when you look back at at say at Jordan Pickford, he played in the lower leagues. David Raya, you know, Arsenal goalkeeper, he was at Southport as well. I don't think there's anything anything wrong. It I think it grounds them as well. It's a little bit different for outfield players because the level um isn't good enough to bring them on and also there's the possibility of them getting injured and stuff on the pitches and and who they're up against, but I think for goalkeepers, I don't think it's a bad thing going dropping down a level or two. Um learning what it's like to play in, you know, proper football. So hopefully he does he does well there. Uh a Everton legends team are going to be taking part in the Can Futsal tournament on the 12th of September with Marseille, AS Cannes, and um the French national team. Uh so, interestingly, Everton team consists of the core, Saha, Jagielka, Yobo, Pienaar, uh Lescott, Materazzi, and Yakubu. I mean, nothing says legends like Yakubu. That's unbelievable. A couple of couple of French players ob- obviously in the mix there. Um Surprised Sylvain Distin hasn't got a call for that one yet. But he do- But he does. Sylvain Di- Sylvain Distin is going to be taking part in the game uh at uh Hill Dickinson uh game for Hope as well. So, which I believe someone from this parish might be taking part in if the rumors are to be believed. We'll have to wait and see on that one. But uh listen, if you're in the Canne area, I'm just saying and you want to go and check out a game, then why not go and check out this game? Obviously, Canne are part of TFG. Don't Don't let that put you off. Um But it it co- it could be a great event. It could be an amazing event. I don't know. Tim Cahill doesn't get involved in these things too often. So, um that sounds good. That's It sounds It sounds good. Listen, if you're knocking around the area or you fancy just flying over there, then why not? Uh Seamus Coleman has been on stick to football and and he's been talking about himself keeping himself fit and I'm just going to say this. I saw him yesterday while I was on a run and he was running as well and we said hello to each other. And I'd love to have just stopped and and had a little run with him but I couldn't. Um So he's been keeping himself fit and I can say that firsthand. He's revealed he rejected a offer from Sheffield United and moved to go to just said it just wasn't quite right. He also revealed that he rejected a coaching or a well and academy role at Evan. He basically revealed that Evan just said to him you can have whatever you want to stay at the football club. And he didn't really want to take it. He said he was going to retire completely. But then the Irish coach basically said I want you to play um to try and get us to the Euros in 2028 obviously to UK and Ireland bid. He said he was going to completely going to walk away from football. But he said that's what kept him. He also said that as well. He hasn't signed for a club because he just wanted a summer. He went back to Ireland he said with the kids uh for 7 weeks and he just wanted to have a summer with his kids. Um but now he's sort of ready to get back into it and hopefully get a club. But it is it'll be an interesting one. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Sheamus. Obviously those internationals are coming up. Um and whether he's involved in them that'll be interesting and I'm sure a Premier League team might bring him in just for all of the experience or a or a Championship team to to play him and might now maybe might feel right to to get involved. But it's a really good interview actually. I've watched the full thing and it is really really very candid and he talks about the fans. Amazing. Talks about the fans and how with fans basically saved the club. And just you can just he's just had a proper proper Evertonian. Um so make sure you know, check that out.
