David Moyes is giving his pre-match press conference ahead of Evans trip to Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow night. The game it kicks off at 5:30 p.m. It's on Sky. David Moyes was asked about Jack Greish. Obviously, we saw Greish coming off the bench last week to be instrumental against Manchester United as Everton came from behind twice to grab a draw at home to United after rejoining Everton on a season long loan. The manager was asked how the fitness of Greish is coming along. This is what he had to say. >> Uh I think Jack's a special case. I think Jack is ready to play. Yeah, I think Jack's probably a boy who needs the football more than he needs the training sometimes. Uh, I think game playing game time helps Jack, but in ways that's him still building up to get to his best, but I've got to say he's a he's a good week's training and uh beginning to look ready to start. >> There you go. Sounds as though the manager is ready to start him. Obviously, we'll wait and see tomorrow, but he did, you know, we made a big difference last week, Jack. His quality, keeping the ball, buying your seconds, winning free kicks, all of that. You know, he we saw it last year. He was tremendous for us last year up until the injury. So, I'll be interested to see whether or not the manager does actually start and we'll wait another week until we play Ipsswitch at home before he gives him his first full start. Uh the manager again it was referenced about the size of his squad and he was also asked whether the the club are looking at free transfers and stuff. This is what David Boy had to say. Well, we can't really do an awful lot to minimize the risk because obviously games are games come and that happens and players can get injured or players can get injured in training. That's part parcel of it. But obviously having a having a bigger squad then helps. Well, you've got a smaller squad then it but you know you you've got a concern if if anything goes wrong. Uh obviously you're talking about probably you're looking in the free transfer market. Are you looking for players out there? But of course we're looking to see if there's anything which uh could be any of use. But I I think to be at the level we're at, you know, to get something which would really make a big difference. It's not an easy not an easy thing to to pluck from that free transfer group. We'll see. We'll see. Right. I mean, we got to look. You got to weigh everything up. There's an opportunity to get someone in on a free transfer. And it fits the bill, then why not? But I think the manager does like the smaller squad. He does. I know he's just sort of said he's uh he's you know maybe three players shorter than what he wanted but he does he doesn't mind that I think the manager as long as he's got options. If everyone kind of stays fit and it's a big if then I think David Moyes will be happy happy happy with that but we'll wait and see. One player who they could do with being fit of course is summer signing Christian Norard who arrived injured and hasn't just hasn't been able to get himself fit so far. I think Evan expected him to be back before now, but he hasn't been so far, but the manager was asked when he could expect Norard to be available to him. This is what he had to say. >> He's still unavailable. Uh we're hoping we get him back maybe somewhere after the international break. That would be that we were hope. >> Was that always the case when you signed him? >> No, I don't think we we thought I expected it to be as long as this. And uh look, it's he's hugely important for us. it was someone who were looking forward to gaining his experience uh his nouse and getting to know him and at the moment know we've not had him on the grass yet. So that's that's been the disappointing thing, but hopefully it won't be too long. >> Be like a new signing, won't it? When he's fit. We haven't seen him. We haven't seen him in Everton yet. So it will be like a new Well, he will be literally a new signing when we see him. Hopefully he gets fit. He's an excellent player. Norard was excellent for Brenford. You know, I know he didn't play a lot at Arsenal, but still a good player. They they liked him enough to go and buy him in the first place. And I think he'll really help us. So we need them as fit, you know, as soon as possible. And I think having the international break, we're sort of five weeks away from our next game after the international break. So, you know, five weeks is a long time for a player to get fit. So fingers crossed he is available when we go to hull after the break. Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pikford has one save of the month again. This time it was for the opening day save from Eddie and Ketier in Everton. Two-0il win against Crystal Palace at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. An unbelievable save with the score line at nil nil. Pushed it onto the post and again pick for just showing his value to Evan. He's been brilliant signing. Sheamus Coleman obviously appeared on the stick the overlapping stick to football show this weekend said uh Everton he thinks Evan being the championship without Jordan Pigford's performances in a couple of those seasons and I think everyoneian probably agrees with them there. Pickford has been a great signing since we brought him in from Sunderland um in 2017. But yeah, one save of the month again and you know his form's been incredible for us and hopefully that continues and um he wins many more of these or he doesn't have to win them because he hardly has anything to do that's good as well but congratulations to Jordan Pikford once again. I talked about free transfers before David Moyes was asked about is there any potential to that? Well, a story continues to rumble on over Maro Accardi. Uh apparently he is now open to joining Everton. That is reports coming out of Argentina. Um he left Galatasaray in the summer where he featured 134 times for them scoring 77 goals including 16 last term. He is 33 years old. He has a good finish yet and the report saying that Everton want backup to Then Barry and Aardi is being considered and the player would be open to moving to the Premier League side. So we'll wait and see if Everton move on that one. And the Evan Academy sides are in action over the weekend. The under8s face Wolverampton Wanderers tomorrow. And Everton's under21 side faces Brenford on Sunday. Be interesting to see whether Braden Graham is once again part of Everton's first team squad. I imagine he will be for the trip to Tottenham. But if he isn't, he will [snorts] feature for the 21s against Brenford. All right, like I said, I imagine he'll be on the bench for Tottenham away tomorrow. That is it for the News Daily.
