Marco, good afternoon. >> Good afternoon. >> You said last week that you were 120% sure you would keep Alex Scott and you kept Alex Scott. >> Yeah. You see, >> you looked into the future. >> You surprised or No, >> no, I'm not surprised. Yeah, >> but what you've done is you've keep you've kept all the best players at the football club. Alex Scott, Ryan, Krooppy. What does that say about Bournemouth's ability to stand firm when there is interest in their best players and the fact that you only sell when you want to sell? Yeah, first of all, it's uh for me as a as a manager is a big thanks to to our owner that he um observed the things from a few of of sport um because we need this kind of players to be competitive in the Premier League um in the European League because um it's a special season with um much more games than we are used to play and that's why it was from the beginning the idea to uh um to keep our squad together, our best players. Um and yeah, at the end now we see that it was not just an idea. Um we did it and um it's a good sign to to everyone. I think um even the leads maybe um yeah try to um take a chance another chance. um they going to recognize that it's a good idea to to stay here to have one more year in a top club with top leads in a top environment in a top league um to improve and yeah for us it's important to to keep them to achieve our our goals. >> When you look at the window as a whole how pleased are you with the business that you've done? We know Bournemouth didn't sign a lot of players, but you've brought in the key players in key positions and it looks like you've got some young, exciting, talented players. >> Yeah. And we did our business um quite quite early. Um of course we we lost um Marosi, important player. Um we we lost Alex um an important player, Alex Remines. Um but uh we signed um top top players. Um I think everyone sees that Antonio Silva um after two games in the Premier League showed that he is um um yeah able to to play in this league to compete in in in this league. Um Juanu is um still adapting uh things. Um but I'm as you said I'm quite pleased with everything. We we have um high quality players, we have experienced players, um we have players to uh to improve, to to develop. And um even me uh I'm I'm curious how uh the things are going in in in the next weeks and months. >> Two games played in the Premier League, just the one point on the board. How do you assess the start to the season? And have you learned things already in just those two matches? Yeah, it's always um special to to start a season and uh if you uh have a wish then to start with a win and if you don't win the first game then the second game at at home. Um at the end we might have six points. Um we shall have four points but we have just one point. Um and this is um this is disappointing but on the other side um I see and I have to evaluate our our performances and we were always close uh it means not that we are happy um but I'm quite convinced that we are on the right way um in a in a good place and um now we have Newcastle away the next chance to uh to start to get three points. What's the Bournemouth team news ahead of that Newcastle game? Have you got any injury concerns or players that you might not have at your disposal? >> No issues, no no injuries. Um our longtime injuries um we know they are not coming back, but the other guys are um yeah in a good in a good spot. >> Matteaser has gone into Newcastle this summer. I I don't think you pass crossed although you're at Saltsburg uh at various points over the last sort of 10 years or so. Are you impressed with the impact he's had on a very young group, a new group, and immediately they look like a team that could compete in the Premier League? >> They're doing well. I know Matias from from Zsburg when because I was a manager there and he succeeded not me but uh I think the manager after me or after the manager after me and I visited old friends um in the in the training ground and we we met and had had a talk had a chat um so um yeah I know that he is a is a good coach that um he has an idea of football and um as you said um he um brought the idea really quick in into the team of of Newcastle. They are in a good in a good spot. They are in a good shape. They playing quite intense. Um they have clear patterns um against and and with the balls. Um but um yeah, the same things we we have as well. >> And St. James Park is is one of those iconic stadiums in the Premier League. The fan base, the noise. Is this the type of challenge you're looking forward to? Is is this one of the reasons you wanted to manage in the Premier League to to be in these big environments, these big stadiums, these these big iconic arenas? >> I love to be in our stadium as well. I love the the the atmosphere um last last Saturday. Um and now we go to Newcastle and it's always um if you play international, if you play in big stadiums, it's um uh yeah um it's special um to to feel the atmosphere and for us it's nothing new for the leads. I mean I think they won the last two games there um last season and the season before and now it's a new game. The the guys know the atmosphere. uh I get to know it um on on weekend but every one of us is is looking forward to to play this game. >> Good luck. >> Thank you. >> Is there any benefit showing clips of the games at Newcastle last season, even the season before? Is it completely irrelevant now that you're in charge with your style and so on? >> I think it's not about us. Uh even we have a new manager and um Newcastle has a new manager, some new players. So um for us there there is no benefit to use the the game for Adrian Tfair. It could be a benefit because he scored his his um first Premier League goal or the the the first and last one so far. Um uh so if he maybe I show him his goal and uh if it helps him to score another time um I would be happy. Fair enough. Um I think have Newcastle played very differently in their first two games or or can you see a clear identity with tweaks? Uh in general there is a clear identity to to play uh um quite in intense but it's again it's Premier League so every Premier League team tries to play uh intense. Um they you are right uh have different patterns in in pressing. It depends on what the opponing opponent is doing. Sometimes it's more manorientated. Sometimes it's more um yeah covering spaces um with the ball. It's um a lot about um Elanga um to to get him in in a spot to yeah have one v1s or threaten the depth with him. Um uh they already assisted goals like uh like this. So um yeah, we have to take care, we have to defend well, we have to attack. I think we get chances as well in in in some situations that what you can see and these kind of chances um these chances you you have to use uh if you play there and both you and Matias have mentioned Ralph Rangnik as being a big influence on your early coaching career. Can you still see that influence in his games? >> Of course. I mean he and me we were uh several years in in the system of of Red Bull and Alfrangnik and everyone knows how we work and um you can yeah you can see it >> with your first two games obviously 6 minutes away from winning at City far far less time against Everton has have those experiences taught you anything about the Premier League that you didn't already No, >> I had this kind of games and faces in Zborg in in Germany as well. Sometimes uh it is what it is. Um I think over a season you um if you have bad luck um you maybe you going to win games where you are um not better than the opponent. Um so these kind of things mostly um getting getting in balance um during a whole season. But we should not wait for for this moment to get the luck back. And it's not about bad luck or or luck. Uh we we need to um finish the games. Um we had a chance against Everton. I think in the second half we had 25 minutes where we just played in in their half. We had two, three, four um top chances. So scored a second goal and it's it's done. And at the end, I said it right after the game, the the equalizer was for me just just slapstick. It's about communication. Um, everyone wants to win. Everyone tries to to sort out the situation. Um, but at the end it was um yeah, like it like it was. And um and now we looking forward um so uh next game Newcastle a chance to win three points, a chance to do things better and that's what we are going for >> and I know your focus is all on Newcastle but I haven't been here but I think this is the first chance to talk to you about the Europa League draw is it? So what was your reaction? >> You're right >> when everyone you gathered everyone together to watch it together. What what were the reactions? No, we were busy everyone here. Um, so I don't know it was right after training. >> Yeah. And um we had appointments, but of course we um uh were excited. Uh and we were quite happy about um the the teams we we got. I mean to play as Milan here at home it's it's special to to get um Selviggo and Ria soat away it's um it's a tough start riat um the first game a good team really good team quite intense um Spanish national players inside so it's getting a big challenge challenge um tonight I have the the chance to to watch them because they play each other in the in the Spanish league. Um yeah, and so we get step by step feeling for the the opponents and um we play in Norway, we play in uh Prague. Um yeah, and the goal is to uh to have more of these games um other opponents maybe if we uh if we promote it. >> I understand you saying quite happy with the teams from a football point of view behind the scenes. I imagine the roof came off when AC Milan at home came off, didn't it? Isn't that a dream for your bosses and so on? >> For my bosses? >> Well, for the Yeah, for the board and >> Yeah, for sure. I think um um Bill Foley was quite happy. I hope he's here if he play this big European um team. And um Thiago he uh knows these teams from from the Champions League from his time with Benfica or in in uh in Italy with um home. So um I think everyone was uh was quite happy and uh but on the other side I feel that our main business is uh is the Premier League. There we got qualified for for this um uh competition and there we have to do our job as well and there we have one point after two games and now we play Newcastle and Newcastle is the next uh next uh challenge.
