Video summary
The video explores a frustrating trend among major beauty brands where beloved products are discontinued or reformulated to the point of ruining their original quality. The host argues that companies often make these changes because sales dip in saturated markets, failing to realize that loyal customers value consistency and trust over new variations. She expresses deep disappointment when iconic items like the Becca "No Powder" powder or the Dior Professional Performance Face and Body Powder are replaced by inferior versions that lack the original's airy, airbrushed finish. In these instances, she criticizes the brands for messing up a perfect formula and notes that while some replacements exist, they rarely match the magic of the discontinued classics.
To help viewers navigate these disappointments, the creator offers specific drugstore alternatives that successfully mimic the performance of the lost luxury items. For example, she praises the LA Girl Brightening Setting Powder as a budget-friendly substitute for the discontinued Dior powder, noting it feels even lighter and costs a fraction of the price. Similarly, she recommends the Elf Set It Bright Correcting and Brightening Powder as a close alternative to Givenchy's Prisme Libre after Givenchy changed its formula to something less effective. She also highlights Revlon ColorStay Longwear Makeup as a superior replacement for Estee Lauder's Double Wear, which lost its legendary staying power after being reformulated into a more natural, less long-wearing version.
Beyond foundations, the discussion extends to eyeshadow palettes and other makeup categories where brands have similarly failed to maintain their high standards. The host laments that Makeup Revolution and Milani altered their popular 12-pan palettes, resulting in products that no longer match the quality of the original formulas. She also criticizes Natasha Denona for switching to a "clean" or vegan line without preservatives, which forces consumers to replace their palettes every year due to spoilage, whereas her older, preserved palettes from years ago still perform perfectly. Throughout these examples, she emphasizes that while new packaging is fine, changing the core formula destroys the product's integrity and drives customers away.
Ultimately, the video serves as a plea for beauty companies to stop altering successful formulas and instead focus on repackaging existing favorites or improving them without losing their essence. The host concludes by encouraging viewers to support drugstore brands that are stepping up with high-quality, affordable options that stand the test of time, rather than chasing expensive luxury items that get ruined by corporate decisions. She ends on a hopeful note, urging brands to listen to their loyal customer base and avoid making changes that lead to disappointment, assuring everyone that there are still great products available if one knows where to look.

You done messed up, A-A-Ron.
You guys seen that video. If you haven't
seen that video, I'm going to link it
for you down below. It's one of the
funniest things I've ever seen.
Hi friends.
This is all about companies that I feel
like, makeup companies, that I feel like
have messed up in one way or another
through the years on either changing
their formula or getting rid of their
formula. I'm not just going to leave you
hanging about, oh, the formula sucks
now, but I'm going to actually give you
an alternative as well.
I'm pretty excited about this video cuz
as I was sitting thinking about another
video this morning, this one came to me
and I was like,
has anybody really done that? I mean, we
talk about products that aren't aren't
that good, but has anybody ever really
done the oh, you messed up, but this is
what you should use?
Well, if they haven't, here you go. I'm
excited to be able to bring this video
to you. Now, don't forget about our
number system, and also don't forget
that you can go down in the description
box and look through the numbers and
find your product that way, and you can
go into the first pinned comment here on
the video and find the products down
there. Sometimes YouTube will throw them
up on the screen, so look there too as
well. All right, let's get into this.
First of all, years ago, there was a
beautiful powder from Becca. Becca went
out of business. Before they went out of
business, they discontinued the powder.
I called it the no powder powder. It was
so light and so airy and so beautiful,
and it was incredible.
Dior came out with one not long after
that. This is what is it? I might as
well just keep these babies on this
time. This is the professional
performance face and body powder no
powder.
Powder no powder, and it was is I have
two of them because
I love them that much. It doesn't It
does look like there's some powder on
this finger right here, but man, on your
face that powder was just airbrushed and
light and on anybody that had older
skin, it was pretty. It was so pretty.
They discontinued it.
You messed up, Dior. But, this year
LA Girl came out with their brightening
setting powder. First of all, it's pink,
so it's not like super brightening, but
it feels so much like the Dior powder.
As a matter of fact, as I was like
feeling it on my finger, it felt even
lighter than the Dior one. And I'm like,
bring it to the bring it to the people.
I am so happy because this powder was
like 40 plus dollars and this one isn't
even $10, so yeah, bring it to the
people because you have done messed up,
Dior. You have done messed up, Becca.
All right, who else has messed up?
Ta-da! Yeah, they did. You know what I'm
talking about. Givenchy
messed up when they took their Prisme
Libre Libre powder and they completely
changed it. They messed up. But, I went
bought this one as soon as I heard that
they were going to do that, I went and
bought like two of these. This is their
color of Voila Rose and it's so pretty.
Has I don't even know if I've opened
this one yet cuz this is my new one.
Have I opened it? I have. Okay, has two
pinks in there, a peach and a yellow in
there and this is magic powder. It's
just simply magic powder. I I know I
loved it and I know that so many of you
did and they discontinued it and brought
that other stuff in and it won't sell.
So, they tried to bring this one out,
their pressed one, Prisme Libre
Prisme Libre powder and I got the Voila
Rose in the 03. Guess what? Wasn't
anything like the other one at all. I
didn't feel like I didn't feel like it
was anything major or anything that I
had to have.
It didn't for me, it just did not
compare to the original. But, guys, this
year, again, Elf has brought their quad,
their Set It Bright Correcting and
Brightening Powder. There is one that is
in light, and then there is one in and
let's see, this one is the lilac case,
fair to tan.
Yeah, okay. So, this one, as you can see
right here, has a green, a blue, a
peach, and a purple. This is the one
that go for all day long if you are
anywhere near me, or you know,
color-wise.
Uh this one has a purple, a bright pink,
a rose pink, sorry, a bright pink, and
then a peach. And for me, this one is so
good. So [snorts] good. I'm so happy
that they brought this out. I think that
it very much compares, it's not
identical, to the one from Givenchy, but
it is really close, and it is really
pretty, and I'm telling you, you can
save so much money on trying the other
one and not liking it anyway, because it
has little micro glitter poopies in it.
But, yeah, let's just say that you done
messed up, Givenchy, but hello, Elf for
the Elf for the save. All right. This
one is so sad, because
to me, I think what happened here with
the Estee Lauder Double Wear is that
their sales dipped because the market is
so saturated. But, what they weren't
taking into account was their repeat
customers, and how wonderful it is to
have those people come back over and
over again, and be able to trust this.
This has been out for years, like
decades, and all of a sudden they decide
to change it to this. Estee Lauder
Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup. That's
what it's supposed to be the same thing.
It is not. I almost cried. I This is
more of a natural wear. This is a matte
all day long bridal, you know, this was
bridal makeup. And this was mom of the
bride makeup because it stayed on all
day long. This one doesn't. It's okay.
I'm not saying it's a bad foundation,
but it is not a better version of the
Estee Lauder Stay in Place. So, you done
messed up Estee Lauder, but I would tell
you right now that all day long, the
Revlon ColorStay Longwear Makeup, the
24-hour, you can get the combination one
or you can get the normal to dry one, I
believe it is. Honestly, it is every bit
as good as the original. I mean, there's
a reason that this this particular
foundation has been out for 20-plus
years because it is that good. It is the
bridal makeup except for at the
drugstore. It is the one that's going to
last forever and ever on your skin all
day long. It's going to look beautiful.
I love it. I have been loving it
forever. Now,
the next one is not one that I can say
go buy another one because, first of
all, it's Catrice True Skin and this is
the hydrating foundation, the longwear
foundation.
They just discontinued it. They just
They just did away with it. It was a
foundation that I felt like made mature
skin look so beautiful and yet you could
wear it all day long and it still look
beautiful at the end of the day.
They just discontinued it and I don't
have anything to replace it. Sorry. I
mean, honestly, I I really don't have
something that you can look at and go,
"Okay, well,
that's going to be every bit as good.
It's going to be equal."
Sorry, that one's just up in the air. I
know. I should have probably looked
harder, but I really couldn't think of
anything else that I wanted to bring to
you that was as beautiful. All right,
next one.
A lot of these are foundations, so
that's kind of fun.
Um,
Giorgio Armani Luminous silk, perfect
glow, flawless foundation. They redid it
into this one, perfect natural glow flaw
and it doesn't say flawless foundation.
It's not the same. It's not as good. I
don't like it as much. I'm really sad
that they did this. This was a
foundation that made mature skin look
like it was just airbrushed and
beautiful and you could wear it all day
and it was still there at the end of the
day it still looked really good.
Not on the new one. So, you done messed
up, Giorgio Armani. I'm sorry. You had
big boys, you messed up. But, I'm
bringing you one that has been tried and
true for me for a long time, a decade at
least. Number seven, lift and illuminate
serum foundation, triple action serum
foundation. I have My winter color is
light ivory.
Calico is good if you're super fair. And
my summer color, when I have a little
bit more color on or or I'm
self-tanning, is wheat. So,
you guys,
>> [laughter]
>> it's not exactly, but this has been my
favorite drugstore foundation for years.
It's so good. It it it acts so much like
it. It gives you that natural finish,
that beautiful younger-looking skin in a
bottle. Wears well, looks beautiful by
the end of the day. It's really close,
really really close and I would say, go
out and buy it because you're going to
love it. I've been touting this one for
years and every time there's a video
where I say, I don't like a foundation
or a foundation that I like is gone, I
will go back to this one and tell you to
purchase it every time. This is the one
to me is sad because so many women that
I know personally, uh, Melissa 55, she
loved this light reflecting foundation.
They changed the formula on this. This
one has to be shook up because I won't
even wear it anymore because they did
something to it that
it messed it up. It ruined it. I It
doesn't cover as well. It doesn't stay
as well. It looks patchy sometimes. You
have to wear the exact right skin care
under it and you have to wear the exact
right concealer with it. You also have
to wear primer that is very compatible.
It just is too fussy. Now, besides the
fact that it just doesn't look like the
old one did. You messed up. You done
messed up, Nars. But, what I have on
today is the L'Oreal Paris Infallible
Pro Glow. I don't even know if they make
this anymore, but you can get it on
Amazon. They probably don't make this
anymore. But, look at it. It looks so
pretty. It's perfecting. It doesn't make
you look like a grease ball and yet you
have that life to your skin. And so, I I
really love this foundation. I think
it's a very, very beautiful foundation.
So, hey, when you can get foundations
that are just so, so good and they stand
the test of time, go for them. Run after
them. And, yeah, they messed up. Nars
messed up. I'm sorry. This one, Makeup
Revolution.
Oh, you guys, 10 years ago when I
started my channel, I bought just about
every Makeup Revolution palette I could
get my hands on. Somewhere in there they
lost their way. They really lost their
way. But, when they brought out they
they weren't the same. They weren't the
same at all. But, when they brought out
these, let's see, this is a 12-pan
palette. When they brought these out, I
think these are called Color Icon or
Color something. Um, I'll look it right
here. Makeup Revolution
Time Enchanted Icon, The Enchanted Icon.
Um, so, you have you do have a cream
product right here. They have three
different ones of these.
Um, this one is the Smoky Icon. Let's
see if I can open these and hold them up
without
dropping everything.
So, you have the Smoky Icon right here
and then you have the Master Icon, which
is all mattes. Beautiful palettes and
they do have a really good formula, but
I will say that it isn't the same as
those original formulas were in their
palettes. I don't know what they did. I
don't know why they had to change them.
These are good palettes. They're not
There's nothing wrong with them and I
have put them in lots of videos and I do
wear them often, especially this one,
which is a
for the Patrick Starr one. So,
definitely, if you're looking for
something that is all matt, you can look
at that one right there. And then these
other two that have just beautiful
special colors in them. I like them very
much and I think there's one more, as a
matter of fact. But, yeah, they messed
up when they took that formula off the
market. Also, Milani. I haven't even
purchased a Milani palette in my I don't
know, 8 years because when Milani did
away with their 12-pan palettes,
they messed up, too. I've I've tried so
many of their palettes and they messed
up bad. Now, Natasha Denona, I'm showing
you my Glam palette.
Natasha Denona went clean. Was it clean
or veg- vegan she went? I don't
remember.
I need some WD-40 on that baby. But,
they messed up when they went clean
because now your palette that you
purchased from her, and I haven't
purchased one since she did that, is
very expensive. What are they now? $65,
$70 now? Are they $70 now? You are not
going to be able to hold onto your
palette for more than 12 months because
it's clean and there's no preservatives
in it anymore, according to what her
website says. So, guess what? They can't
preserve these eye shadows so that you
can use them for years to come. I have
this palette from when it very first
came out. What was it? 4 years ago? 5
years ago? It's still good. There's no
smell on it. It still performs well. It
still blends well. There I, you know,
probably maybe shouldn't be holding onto
it that long, but they have
preservatives in them and I feel like
there's nothing wrong with that. But,
Natasha Denona you done messed up, girl.
Because honestly, these palettes should
not be kept more than 12 months once you
open them.
Just a fact of life.
Take the good, but take the bad. And
there you have the facts of life. Okay.
I am on a good one today, aren't I?
>> [laughter]
>> All right, that's it. I'm going to get
down off my soapbox and I'm not going to
talk anymore about this. Because so many
companies mess up. Stop changing things.
Don't go for the one that is so good and
so spectacular and then mess it up by
changing it. You want to repackage it,
repackage it. But keep the original
formula because honestly, we're going to
walk away. We're not going to be buying
anymore. We're going to find something
that we like better and drugstore
stepping up, so we're going to find it
that's cheaper. Don't do it anymore. Off
the soapbox. Love you, guys. Thanks for
coming to see my video today. Hope you
subscribe and hit the like button, the
hype button, and the reminder button,
the little bell.
So that you can be told of any videos
that I'm having in the future. Come back
around and see me in my next video. Love
you much. Take care. Bye, friends.
