Luffy’s Next Upgrade Is INSANE (1193+)

Maybe the tool is another knot with hockey stored in it. Or maybe it is actually a drum to keep Luffy's heartbeat on a nika rhythm and give him a necessary power up. I don't think it's another hockey knot. Or at the very least, I'd be very very surprised just cuz that's how we ended the previous arc. We can't just keep, you know, nodding our way out of problems. However, I do love the idea of a literal drum, like an ancient instrument that was used by Na and or Joy Boy. So, this isn't confirmed, but I have a very hard time believing this is a coincidence. The inspiration for Joy Boy is almost certainly from a deity of the same name who was said to be introduced by African slaves sent to the Caribbean. Joy Boy was depicted as cradling a drum with his left arm whilst holding a drum stick in his right hand. He's described as smiling perpetually at all of the problems and hardships of mankind and cures the troubles by tapping out an irresistible rhythm on his drum. Furthermore, [clears throat] whoever hears the music of this droid boy is compelled to dance and sing along until he or she has shaken off what is referred to as the black cloak of despair from their shoulders. So, I don't know, mate. It seems pretty onetoone to me. Everything I just said applies to Joy Boy as we know him in One Piece. However, we have yet to see Luffy, Joy Boy, or Na with a drum. Luffy's heartbeat has been acting as a drum. But I would be so unbelievably hyped if there was a massive drum of liberation in Bibllo's grandfather's albox. But if there was one, then we would need someone to play it. Someone not necessarily Luffy. And that sounds like a very solid role for the Straw Hat musician to take on. And in that case, we could finally see why Luffy instinctively wanted and needed a musician on his crew before all of the other arguably more important roles. However, I do accept that Brookie might be a bit busy with all of this shy business at the moment. That's not an issue though because you know what? The straw hats, they have a backup musician and that would be Usopp who in the infamous page of Luffy first striking a nicapose can be seen right behind Luffy playing a drum. That would be a fun role for Usopp, a military drummer. He has to have the bravery to stand on the battlefield with Emu and keep playing to keep Luffy's heart beating in time. And maybe depending on how you play the drum, you can even make Luffy stronger. When we talk about the drums of liberation, we tend only to think about one specific beat. However, the drums of liberation, they are an instrument, not a song. So, there could be multiple songs of liberation that one can play with the drums. And so, to date, it means that we have only seen Luffy's debut single. The dude has a whole album left to come. Maybe I'm starting to wonder if Usopp plans on doing anything anything at all during the Elbaf arc. Thanks me. Watching Zoro think so much in the chapter felt like he was actually going to grow a brain cell this time. Fun fact, Zoro, he has a unique sword style, but he also has a unique thinking style. It's called three cell style, and it's where Zoro really pushes his three brain cells to their limit because he essentially spent his time in this chapter thinking about all of the things it is that he already knew. He knew that cutting the heart of Summers was the way to beat him, and he knew that Conqueror's hockey was the only way to get it done. And yet, he's still standing there going, "Huh, maybe I need to use Haki on the Heart." This is essential, though. Zoro is so genuinely powerful that he needs something to nerf him to make these fights fair. In the same way that Luffy needs that nerf as well by always wanting to do childlike things and acting like a bit of a Sanji, however, he has the opposite problem. He is extremely intelligent, but he does not have access to the raw power of a Luffy Oroto. So, he needs to use his brain and that's why his fights tend to be quite interesting because Sanji does have that perfect mix of strength and intelligence. Something I forgot to mention in the review video though, and I'm not sure if this is a mistake, but Zoro doesn't have his Elbath goggles on during this chapter at all. At first, I thought he just lost them during the Thorn attack in this chapter because you can see his head bleeding in that amazing final panel. But the first panel we see Zoro in also shows him missing his goggles and bleeding from his head as well. The bleeding made me inclined to think that this isn't a continuity error, that he took an attack from Summers which destroyed the goggles and gave him the head damage. But then I ended up getting more confused because I went back on the last time that Zoro appeared and that was in chapter 1,189 where he does have his goggles and he is bleeding from the head. Meaning that whatever caused that head damage did not break the goggles. And so this whole chapter could have just been a continuity error. I came full circle on that opinion. We'll know for sure whether it is or isn't an error by the next time Zoro appears. But I personally hope it's on purpose because I really like this clean Zoro a lot better. I really don't love his Elbaf outfit, and the goggles are a major part of why. So, if it is an error, then I'm very thankful for it. But also, another thing, Zoro, he hasn't even put on his bandana yet. He hasn't used his bandanna at all since his fight against King during the raid. So, we'll see if Summers ends up being worthy of it. Also, there's something very interesting about Summers being able to make his thorns invisible. I've been thinking about this for a while and I honestly don't quite understand how he's able to do this because as far as we know he just has a regular devil fruit that allows him to generate thorns. There's probably a thematic explanation for it buried in one piece somewhere. It doesn't really matter for the sake of my next point though. The fact that there is an invisible aspect to this may be setting up Zoro's potential future fight with Shiru of the Blackbeard pirates. Due to being a swordsman, Shiu is Zoro's most natural opponent to fight. However, he also has the devil fruit that Sanji always wanted. So there's always a connection to be made there as well. But if Oda has that in mind, then during the final war, you could see Zora squaring up against Shirio and going, "Oh, invisibility, huh? I think I fought something like that before." And so all of this summer's business, it could be planting a seed for that. Why was killing him so big? Elbuff scaling strikes again. He's massive. He is massive. And you can see that when Sanji's cooking cooking and you can see that when Sanji looks so tiny kicking him in the stomach. And I don't think that the manga has done a great job with this. But the anime has made me very aware of how big Sink killing him is. He is so much bigger than I thought he was, at least in this form. And I guess that makes sense because this is his full beast form. We thought it was the hybrid form initially, but that ended up being his weird centaur phase. The Grand Fleet are coming. If Luffy was quote dying while impaled by emu swords, then his vivia card must have started to shrink, which would then cause the fleet to mobilize as they think Luffy is in mortal danger. All right, here we go. It is finally happening. I've been waiting for the moment on Elbaf where the Grand Fleet theories start to pop up because this happens with each and every arc right around this time. At the end of Dress Rose, the Grand Fleet were promised by the narrator to cause a great incident of historic proportions. And at the climax of every arc where Luffy needs that little bit something extra to win, I always see this comment at the end of Hullcake Island where it was hard to see the Straw Hats escaping and it was clear that they were not going to defeat Big Mom. The Grand Fleet theories mate, they poured in. They were going to arrive majestically and Luffy's fleet would go up against Big Mom's fleet and end up destroying the forces of an emperor of the sea. Didn't quite happen that way though. And on Wano, a similar thing happened when it was hard to see how the Ninja Pirate Mix Samurai Alliance could defeat the Beast Pirates. And when Luffy did kind of die before entering gear fifth, it was widely proposed that the Grand Fleet would see Luffy's vivia card burn up and set sail to save him. They were going to arrive majestically and Luffy's fleet would go up against Kaido's fleet and end up destroying the forces of an emperor of the sea. Again, it didn't quite happen that way, though. And the same incident occurred once more recently with Airhead Island. After that 100 ship buster core was mustered to attack. It was once again proposed that the Grand Fleet were going to arrive majestically and that Luffy's fleet would go up against the Marine fleet and end up destroying the forces of an Elder Star. And for a third time, it didn't quite happen that way, though. It never quite happens that way. So, look, I might have just seen this movie too many times, but I really don't buy into the Grand Fleet ideas so much anymore. I don't think that they will be hugely relevant until the final war. Although to play Emu's advocate here, there is something different about Elbaf, which is that we do actually have a Grand Fleet faction present. Ardin and the new giant warrior pirates are part of the Grand Fleet, so maybe Gondor could call for aid that way, but it's not what I would personally be betting on. Yo, change the camera's focus to the poster behind you. Ah, you like the poster, do you? Okay, sure. Let's change the focus if I can. Holy crap. I actually don't think I can change the focus while I'm filming. I think it is locked, but I can do this and bring the poster into focus. A lot of you ended up commenting on this poster in the last video. This particular poster, I've had so many different posters, and for some reason, this is the only one that seems to get any attention. But this is a poster that I asked my channel artist to make. If the person behind this ability goes down, it'll vanish. Doesn't that confirm that Big Mom is still alive considering Zeus is still roaming around? So, this was said about killing him if he gets beaten and Zaza will vanish hopefully. I say hopefully because the characters in world don't have confirmation that that's true, although it does usually work. I'm a bit cautious though because killing him is a very unique devil fruit user. He manifests dreams and nightmares. So, killing him being unconscious might not be the dub that we think it is. And if anything, it could remove what control Killium does have over Zaza and lead her to rampaging like the Zaza in his nightmares probably does completely out of his control. And this has also been flagged because when Killium created Zaza Summers, he was worried and he asked, "Mate, can you control that? That's a scary thing." And Killingham's response was, "I think so." So that feels to me like we are setting up for a Zaza that breaks free of Killingham's command in one way or another. But I could also be doing that thing I do and just thinking too much about this. When a character in One Piece gives you directions to stop a crisis, that's usually not the character speaking. What it is is it's usually the voice of Oda speaking to the readers. Here's what we need to do, guys. We need to do X to stop Y. However, this question was actually about Big Mom in relation to Zeus. Because Zeus is still alive, does that mean that Big Mom is still alive after her lovely lava bath? Because Zeus isn't just her devil fruit power, he's also part of her soul. And the answer to that is, I don't know, mate, because not all devil fruits function in the same way. Some fruits, they make permanent changes, like Boa Hancock's devil fruit. She apparently can't undo the effects of a previous user of her fruit. But then we have the classic example of the alternative, which would be Sugar, whose toy fruit ceased to function as soon as she was knocked out by Uso. Everything she'd ever done was undone in an instant. It was not a perma fruit. So I suppose the answer is actually that there's no consistent way that devil fruits act. They act in the way that the plot needs them to act. So if Odin needs big mom to be alive, then yes, this is an indicator that she will still be out there. And if Oda needs her to be dead, then no. This is an indicator that her fruit was a permanent type. Maybe the chest has the mother flame. Either that or it could be Pandora's box. Maybe Pandora has been referenced in One Piece before. When Tiny Big Mom did her similar tantrum, Mother Carmel turned all of the fire afflicting the village into a homie that she named Pandora, which is actually quite interesting to think about in relation to the previous question. What happened to Pandora after Mother Carmel got om nom nommed? Maybe Pandora disappeared or maybe this homie is still out there somewhere. As for the mother flame, I don't know if I would count that as a tool. But for a while now, there has been a theory that if Luffy were to come across a mother flame, then he may eat it. And this has to do with one of his many inspirations, Hanaman. A being who allegedly saw the sun, thought it was a sweet, sweet mango, and then tried to eat it and actually partially succeeded, but he was stopped, I believe. But this is what happened with Luffy's sun god fruit. He mistook the powers of the sun for a delicious fruit, and he ate it. And the mother flame would perhaps solve his current problem of running out of energy because the mother flame, it is said to provide infinite energy. So Luffy would then have an infinitely sustainable gear fifth. Maybe if this is what happens, which it may not. I like the idea that the giants are debating if they should be peaceful or go back to their savage ways. I feel like they'll learn there is a good balance of being kind to others, but never forgetting your roots and saving fights for when it is needed. It is a good debate. I like it a lot, but I do wonder if Oda will be able to answer it satisfactoryy. Oda. He is a fantastic writer when it comes to personal motivation and emotion and really zeroing in on characters and themes, but he's usually less good when it comes to these overarching societal kind of ideas. And sometimes the issues that he sets up tend to be a bit ignored by the end of the arc. Like hunting down the Kurumi clan and how the people of Wano more or less created Ori, which the Kosuki clan were complicit in, but we never had to deal with any of that. All we had to say was Ori, well, he was born to burn and we did nothing wrong whatsoever. So it is interesting because the giants they do brought up that they've taught their kids to be pacifists and was that the wrong thing to do and Yarl says would it be better if the world saw them as savages instead and I think there is a middle ground to be reached by the end of the ark like say the rest of the kids asking Colin to train them and joining him to get stronger to fight for the right things in the future forming the next generation of the giant warrior pirates. Although at the moment, my feeling is that Odor is using Dory and Broggy to stop us thinking about this too much, which is what they literally say. Don't overthink it. Stop being pragmatic. War will always be war. Don't worry too much about it. Stop thinking about why. But look, the answer can't be a return to this indiscriminate violence, but it also can't be Harold's solution of complete pacifism. It could be a process of blending traditional and modern Elbath. You know, Harold, he was a hard shift away from the savage history of especially the ancient giants. So what Harold did is he taught Elbaf not to fight. But then we have Dorian Broggy now reminding Elbaf how to fight. And it'll be up to the next generation to take on both of those teachings to decide where and what to fight for and when not to fight. You know, this probably isn't an approved message for media aimed at teenagers. But being peaceful does not mean being harmless. Being harmless means being incapable. So you've got to be strong, dangerous, or harmful to some degree. That's how what that's what I feel like is happening on Elbaf. But that's a very hard idea to sell because it sounds like it's actively promoting violence. It's not. It's becoming strong enough to protect the things you care about. Because there is a difference between choosing peace because you're kind and choosing peace because you're incapable of defending yourself. That feels like the core of the issue of Elbaf's identity right now. And I don't know if we'll even see this come full circle by the end of the arc. It might be something that we see developing in a cover story or maybe even a cut back to Elbaf closer to the end of One Piece to show us how this island has changed since this incident. Man on the internet, do you think Zoro will take Graham as a spoils of war? I don't think that Zoro would do very well with Graham. Zoro, he doesn't get particularly angry. So, the Sword of Wrath probably not a great asset for him. It's also not a katana, so it doesn't really vibe with the rest of his set. You know what we really need right now is Tashigi because I want to know how these weapons fall into the hierarchy of swords in the One Piece world. Do the 19 blades that created the world government rank higher or lower than the supreme grade blades like Yodu or the short Akitetsu? Or because of their age, are they just rubbish without emu imbuing them with an omen? And after emu's powers disappear, Graham and Lynness, they probably will as well because they weren't here before Emu was here. Here's a fun fact. When chapter 1,194 releases, post time skip will reach exactly the same amount of chapters as pre-time skip. That is a startling statistic, but it is true. The end of pre-time skip one piece was chapter 597. And with 1,194, we will have experienced exactly 597 posttime skip chapters. However, it has taken us significantly longer to get there. The pre-time skip era started in 1997 and ended in 2010. And post time skip started in 2010 and has not yet ended, but has now been ongoing for about 16 years. And you know what that means though? It is time for another time skip after Elbarth. And it is only after that point that we can tackle the next 597 chapters of One Piece. It's going to be an amazing 16 to 20 years with all of you.
