Video summary

The lecture introduces the concept of life skills as practical abilities and expertise necessary to solve problems, increase efficiency, and navigate daily challenges effectively in various contexts such as work, ministry, and household management. Drawing on Ecclesiastes 10:10, the speaker uses the metaphor of sharpening an axe before cutting wood to illustrate that wisdom often involves preparing our tools or skills beforehand rather than relying solely on brute strength; similarly, developing life skills allows individuals to tackle tasks with greater ease without exhausting physical effort. The course focuses on non-academic aptitudes like communication, time management, money management, conflict resolution, and emotional intelligence, emphasizing that these are essential for anyone seeking to fulfill God's purposes or serve effectively in their calling. A significant portion of the discussion centers on personal development as a long-term process akin to running a marathon rather than a short-term fix, requiring patience and perseverance across different seasons of life such as studenthood, parenthood, or retirement. The speaker references Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs to explain human motivation, ranging from basic physiological requirements up through safety, love, esteem, cognitive growth, aesthetics, and finally self-actualization; personal development helps individuals meet these higher-level needs by improving their abilities in areas where they may struggle rather than just focusing on natural inclinations. This approach encourages people to identify uncomfortable challenges like poor time management or fear of public speaking and actively work to improve them through intentional effort and practice. To facilitate effective personal growth, the lecture outlines practical strategies for organizing one's limited twenty-four-hour day by learning to say no to unnecessary distractions, delegating responsibilities when appropriate, creating prioritized to-do lists with specific deadlines, and identifying peak energy times for demanding tasks while remaining flexible enough to meet team obligations even during less productive hours. The speaker also highlights the importance of maintaining an updated resume or personal record not only for job applications but as a tool for self-assessment to track newly acquired skills over time, noting that modern technology has largely removed financial barriers to education through accessible online platforms like Coursera and Udemy. Ultimately, overcoming natural hesitations such as lack of confidence requires pushing past comfort zones with the understanding that even small daily improvements lead to significant progress toward becoming a better version of oneself equipped for life's demands.

Excuse me. Um, says Ecclesiastes 10, verse 10, [clears throat] "If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength, but wisdom brings success." Right? So, it talks about wisdom, it talks about ability, and talks about some practical things, right? And using the example of an ax uh to maybe cut wood, and it says that if the ax is dull, then you have to use more effort. Um, maybe hit or cut that particular wood. You have to swing it many times in order to cut through, and [clears throat] you're going to make you're going to need to use more strength. Well, you can use more strength. You you have maybe you have more strength. You can use more strength. No problem with that. But, the wise thing to do, uh the better thing to do, would be to use wisdom and sharpen the ax. And you sharpen it to such a degree that you don't have to use more physical strength. So, that's the that's the verse. So, as we study this course, you know, as we as we pray, just pray that the Lord will give us wisdom. The Lord will also enable us to identify the skills that we have and the skills that we need in order to you know, use that in life. Right? So, let's pray. Father, we thank you this morning, Lord. We thank you for this day that you've given us. We thank you for this time that you've given us, Lord. And Lord, even as we go through this course, Lord, we pray for your wisdom to be made manifest in us. And Lord, we thank you that Lord, that you have become our wisdom um through the cross, through the finished work of the cross, that we have access to God to to your wisdom, Father God, which you make readily available for us, Lord. And so, Lord, we we thank you and we open up our hearts, we open up our minds, Lord, to receive, Lord, the wisdom that is from you, Lord, in order to live life, Lord, well and live life and to tackle challenges and to, Lord, fulfill the purposes of the kingdom, >> [snorts] >> Lord, in a wise manner. We thank you, Lord, we give you all the praise and glory. In Jesus' master's name we pray. Amen. Okay. Just one second, please. Okay. So, as we look at this course, life skills, um now, this course is a very practical course and we're going to be looking at something which are readily, you know, applicable. Right? We can try it out, we can learn things, and uh we can identify certain things that we need to use in our lives. So, if you look at the term skills, right? We're looking at the term skill. What is a skill? Skill is the ability to do something. It ability to do something well. Right? In other words, we can say it is expertise. Right? Um and skills are, you know, varied in nature. Right? If you're going to uh you know, if if you're an athlete, the skill that you would require is to maybe have more strength, maybe maybe run well, maybe jump higher, uh run fast, you know, those are the skills or the abilities. >> [clears throat] >> Right? So, um a skill in a general term is just that, ability to do something well. And we what we would call as an expertise. Okay. So, when we look at the term life skills, we're looking at any skill or any ability or any expertise that is effective, that is useful. Useful for what? To solve, to um enable things to be effective, to solve problems, um to to generally get through um our day-to-day our day-to-day life. And also the things that we are involved in. Like it could be work, it could be ministry, it could be, you know, certain things that we are doing like, you know, reg- regular things like maybe cooking, maybe cleaning. Uh and so these life skills help us to be more efficient, right? To be more effective in the things that we do. Right? Even that example that we saw >> [clears throat] >> of Ecclesiastes 10:10, it's a simple thing, right? It's like cutting a tree, cutting firewood, maybe. Uh maybe chopping down something. But that act of sharpening that axe, right? That act of using something to sharpen the axe, um like a stone, like a grinder stone or something to sharpen the axe, that enables that axe to be sharp sharper to get the work done. So, that's a life. So, similarly we have certain skills to help us to be more effective and efficient in our life. So, that is what we are calling as life skills, right? So, in this course, um course 315, life skills, we're going to be looking at a few of those things that are required, right? Um so, these are these are what we would call as non-academic skills, right? Aptit- aptitudes, uh abilities, and uh it can even be some behaviors, right? It can even be some behavior which is necessary for uh to do things well. It is necessary to live life successfully. And as ministers of God or as people who are getting trained and equipped to be effective [clears throat] ministers, now these are things that are that are important. These are things that are uh that would enable us to be even more effective. Uh so we're looking at communication. We're looking at team um we're looking at several things, right? Let's just go through that list, right? Okay. So if you look at the content, you will see that um Okay. We're looking at, you know, personal development, personal planning, goal setting, uh interpersonal communication skills, management of time, management of money, management of people, So these are the sources. Um how do we handle conflict because when it comes to management of people, you're bound to have that. Then um critical thinking, creative creativity, um team. We're talking about team. We We already I think we kind of studied about leadership. So this is about team decision-making. And also we look at um emotional and cultural intelligence. Then change and also continuous learning. You know, these are these are some things that are that we're going to look at. Okay. Um just one second. Okay. Um and also I just wanted to uh say that for this course, like all the other courses, some of the other courses that we've been handling, we will um uh look at two uh quizzes, one in September, one in the towards the end of the course in November. So two quizzes and um we're going to be uh you know, having those assessments, two quizzes. So the total of that for the course, right? And for uh the same grading would apply for e-learning uh we would we would see that we require at least 70% for e-learning for online cuz it's the same as the in-person class, right? Okay. So, um uh yeah, so notes are uploaded. You can use that and the follow through even as I'm sharing this right on the screen, okay? So, the term life skills refers to skills that we need to make life more efficient, to like make life more effective for us. And it can be anything, right? It can be any skill, it can be any any learning, can be any ability that we use, you know, even things like driving uh skills [clears throat] like uh cooking, skills like language skills, um these are useful, right? And for typically for uh uh a minister of God, right? Let's say you're we are training to be ministers of God, we are training to be, you know, people who can proclaim or share the gospel and um and typically in our situation, right? What what are some skills that are required? We're looking at certain skills only, right? Somehow that list that we went through, we're looking at that and there are there are more, right? But the idea is for us to be exposed to the this uh this aspect of life skills, right? For us, maybe we never even considered that, right? Maybe we never considered uh language skill. Maybe we never considered communication. Excuse me, um as as a skill to sharpen, right? Um yes, uh we we've been focusing on a lot of spiritual aspects like gifts and calling and um you know, other gifts of the spirit and we've been learning, you know, we've been doing book studies and all that, but we we need this as well, right? We need this because this is given by God. This is how God has created us and these are skills that are uh that that we we can develop within ourselves so that we can be even more effective, right? So, um like each one of us have a little uh I would say an inclination or a natural inclination uh which means natural interests, right? There are some things that we are we normally move towards, right? Maybe it is music, maybe it is reading, maybe it is uh you know, certain things that uh become easily to us or we are which we are interested in, right? So, the thing is that we normally uh when it comes to developing skills, we normally move towards that which we are good at to some extent or maybe things that we like, right? We are interested in. Now, the thing is that we need to look beyond that. Beyond the just likes. Yes, you know, things that you normally like, you are very interested in. It is uh you know, it is easy to develop those skills because you are naturally interested in. But, what about those areas where we are challenged, right? What about those areas where we are struggling, right? Maybe we have a difficulty in managing our time, our schedules. Maybe we have difficulty in planning, right? Now, that is a challenge for us and because it does not come naturally to us, right? Maybe when it comes to you know, uh resolving conflicts, we want to maybe we are of the you know, like an avoidant nature. So, we don't uh normally you know, we don't prefer to face conflicts. Now, those are things that we don't normally we don't like. So, in such a setting, how do we uh you know, develop those skills, right? So, one we need to look at things that are making us uncomfortable also, right? And not necessarily things that we like and say, "Oh, I love learning languages, so let me learn a new language." No, these are things that are troubling you. These are things that are challenging us. Um these are things that don't come easily to us. Now, those areas also, you know, we need to look at and say, "How can I be a better version of myself in this area, right? How can I change in this particular area?" And so, those are things that we need to recognize, right? Um yeah. So, when it comes to recognizing skills and recognizing areas that we need to change and uh you know, um sharpen and be better at, this is what we call as personal development, right? You're developing yourself and um improving yourself, right? Um certain things that God has called you to do maybe in a in a certain season of uh life that you are in. And um we are developing ourselves in order to move forward. And we are developing ourselves in order to be better, right? So, we what we do either when you look at personal development, it is a way by which um it is a way by which we look at ourselves, we assess, and we see, "What are the skills, qualities that are required in order to achieve the goals that we have in life and to maximize our potential, right?" So, we look at it as a process. It's not a one-day thing. Like when we look at personal development, um we need to It's like running a marathon, right? It's not something um it's not a short-term thing. It is a long-term. Like certain things within that personal development, maybe it would it might take less time. But on the whole, it would We need to understand that this takes time. We need to have patience with ourselves, right? And we need to persevere. We need to continue to work at it so that we can move forward, right? So this personal development, how can it help us, right? Now when we develop ourselves personally, right? When we set life goals, um this actually in you know, if you are a working professional, it actually sets us up to do even better, to move forward, to get promoted in that work scenario, right? Maybe if you're a person, if you're saying, "Okay, I I want to serve God in the work uh in in a in a corporate setting, right? Uh and as we are going through the college and saying, "Okay, I I want to get back to the corporate setting and I want to have you know, serve God in that area uh uh with my profession." Fantastic, right? So this when we develop ourselves personally, uh it helps us to get into such a setting and it helps us to move forward in that area as well, right? Personal development when it comes to you know, maybe you called for quote unquote full-time ministry, right? And maybe church planting, maybe to be in a pastoral kind of a setting, uh maybe as an evangelist, right? Maybe maybe to help uh someone in the church uh that someone has planted and then you want to just be there to assist and to you know, help in that area. So even then, personal development would help because we are constantly facing uh uh challenges, we constantly face um situations or problems that we need to solve, right? That is why we are there. Um so it is very very important for us. Right? To to be in a even if you're saying, "Okay, I'm a I'm a full-time minister of God. I I Yes, I I need to have the you know, understanding of the word what of God says, 2 Timothy 3 verse 16 that you know, it is it is God great scriptures God great it is given so that I can so the man of God can be thoroughly equipped. Yes, all that is relevant and true. But also, the word of God we see in Proverbs, we see in Ecclesiastes, we see the wisdom of God actually directing us to improve our abilities to improve our skills. Right? You know, if you look at um >> [clears throat] >> If you look at psychology itself, okay? So, that is what we're looking at. We're looking at psychology. There there is this person by name uh or he used to be This is the person Abraham Maslow, psychologist. Uh in 1970, he came up with this theory He said that you know, um sorry, somebody said something? Okay, uh I thought I could hear some someone unmuted their mic and spoke something. Okay. Anyway, so um Um so, this person actually if you studied psychology, you know, you see that Okay, he has actually put together a table. Yeah, just go to that. So, he's put together that and saying there's this hierarchy of needs. Okay? Everyone has this hierarchy of needs as a human being. Okay? Now, if you look at it at the bottom of the pyramid, it's like a pyramid at the triangle. At the bottom which physiological needs. Okay? What are physical physiological needs? Physiological needs are physical needs like things like food, shelter, sleep, rest. Right? Exercise and these kind of things oxygen that we need to breathe and so on. These are physiological physiological needs that the body requires, right? So that is the is puts that at the bottom that everybody has that. We has a need for these these requirements to be met. Then >> [clears throat] >> um there's a safety need. Okay? So next is safety need which means that a need to be secure, a need to be healthy. A need to have some kind of familiarity, right? To to be comfortable. So there is a safety need. Then >> [clears throat] >> he says that Sorry. Excuse me. Then he talks about a need where So this thing is when these needs are met, let's say the physical or physiological need is met, then there is a need for a safety that needs to be met. When that is met, then you know, he talks about love and belonging. Now this is a theory and uh based on human behavior and human observing human behavior, right? So it's not uh something that is Christian in nature but it's just general human behavior and observing that, right? So it talks about love and belongingness, right? Where um you know, being part of a group, being part of a community, being part of a family and socially and even at work, right? Um so giving something, receiving something and uh affection and respect and love and so on. So that belongingness, right? Is there. Then he talks about esteem, right? Uh Meaning self-respect, um self-esteem, and respect of others, um and respect and recognition of people, maybe at work, you know, affirmation, approval, all these things, right? Which goes above above that need of when when you and your love and belongingness is need is met, then he talks about Then, he talks about cognitive needs, meaning, you know, the the need for knowledge, the need for learning things, understanding things, right? Um being curious about how things work, um why why is it why are why are people behaving like this, um the need for learning new things, okay? So, he calls it a cognitive need. And then, need for beauty, order, creativity, um uh you know, maybe uh composing something, creating something, maybe art, maybe literature, like a you know, poetry and things like that, aesthetic needs. So, we see that you know, there's design more than just functional things, you know, we know that things can work, you know, if you uh let's say if you're building a house, a simple structure would be fine, right? You just need a Yeah, you need to have a foundation, you need to have the flooring, you need to have the you know, the pillars, you need to have the roof, you need to have the wall um to keep things out and to keep things in, you know, like wall and then functional and drainage and uh and electricity and so many things, you know, it can it is a very functional thing, right, when you have a place of dwelling. But, [clears throat] when your functional needs are met, there is a need for creativity, right? So, you're saying that, "Okay, you know, I'd like my house to have some plants. I want to grow some plants. I want to grow some maybe plants which have which bear flowers. And I want this to be a beautiful and I want the plants to be here, here, here, you know, in the in the in the house. Um and maybe you might think like, okay, uh maybe the walls can be of a certain color because uh you know, it brightens the place. And maybe you put some artwork, you put some paintings. Um maybe some quotes, you know, you put a frame, picture frame, and you and you put it on the wall. Now, why do you do that? Right? Because within you there is a there is a need to to be creative, you appreciate beauty, and you appreciate, you know, things like color and design and so on. And you So, you want it to be in a certain way. Right? Um otherwise, everybody every all houses, all buildings would be the same thing, right? But there is a there is a inner desire to be creative, an inner desire to make things beautiful, and and so on. So, this is aesthetic needs, right? And beyond that is the need for becoming who you were created to be. Right? There is that drive, there is that uh there is that hunger. I want to reach the full potential of who I have been created to be. I I want to I want that significance. Um so, he he calls it the self-actualization need, right? Now, well, people can say, okay, this is uh this is not the right order or But then, if you look at it, uh if you look at generally the people around and if you look at the world around, you see that this uh it kind of falls in place, right? So, um it is general human um behavior, observing human behavior. Yes, it's a fallen world, and because of which, you know, um even your identity could be based on one of these things, you know, uh love and belongingness. Your identity could flow from that. Now, that's because it's a fallen world. But over and overall, we see that yes, this kind of need is there, right? It starts with physiological needs and it goes way up and climbs up and reaches that place of self need for self-actualization, right? That hunger is there in people. And we know, like all these things are met in Christ, right? But we really look at some of these physical things, some of these things that are there, we see that God has created us, right? In in these in the in the in this way. And God and there's nothing wrong in reaching that place. There's nothing wrong in fulfilling that within God-ordained ways and methods, right? So, that's the that's the thing. Um So, when it comes to personal development, right? Um again, I'm just going back to that. So, you know, the the we develop ourselves when it comes to meeting these needs in the best way possible, right? In the effective way possible. We develop ourselves, right? When it comes to let's say the need for learning, yes, we develop some skills and abilities. Like if it's relational skill, for example, love and belongingness, right? We're looking at the third level, love and belongingness. Now, there is again a need for us to be to develop ourselves to be able to communicate, right? Maybe it doesn't come naturally to be able to communicate, to be able to relate to people, to be able to, you know, get along with people, right? So, maybe there are certain things that we are doing wrong, right? Certain things, certain behaviors that we have learned wrong that we need to undo in order to you know, fulfill that need. Right? So, so these are things. So, when we look at personal development, we are looking at things that actually uh help us uh in this even when we look at this Maslow's hierarchy of needs to help us to reach that place. Right? So, uh so it help definitely personal development is something that is ongoing and it is necessary uh in every season of our lives, right? Some practical things if we want to look at when it comes to personal development, practical things is how we are spending our time. Okay? So, um you know, changes we need to make in order to develop ourselves. Right? Um you know, So, to uh some changes that we need to make with the way we spend our time so that we can develop ourselves. Right? Now, we know that everyone has the equal amount of time. Right? Whether you're young, whether you're old, whether you're living in this country or that country, all of us have only 24 hours a day. Right? Now, that's the thing. Now, how we utilize that time, how we use that time is up to us. Right? And maybe you're in the season of life where you are a student, like you're a full-time student. Uh that's a that is what you are. Or maybe you're in a season of life where you are a working person and of course you are enrolled in this course, so you're learning as well. Right? Maybe you're in a season of life where you are a parent, parent with young children or parent with um teenage children or parent with adult children. Right? You're in a season of life. So, in every season of life there is a demand of how we spend our time. Right? Um so, there is a demand on how we spend our time, how we spend our 9:00 to 5:00, how we spend our 5:00 to 9:00, right? There is a demand. Okay, this is this responsibility requires our time to be spent in these ways. In these uh in these duties, right? Uh so Now, that is that differs from season to season, from people to people. And maybe you're in a kind of a different profession. Maybe you're retired. So, it requires that your time needs to be spent in a certain way, right? Like spending time with family, spending time on work, and education, things that we do enjoy like a hobby, maybe. Now, if we need to develop ourselves, if we need to give time to develop ourselves, okay, so one of the things that we need to do is to say no, learn to say no to certain things, right? We cannot If we need to organize our time, we need to be able to say no to certain things that are unnecessary, right? That are stealing our time, activities that are taking away our time, um and you know, making things wasteful. So, we need to learn to say no. Okay. Maybe things that are If you're a working professional, um things that are not fully your responsibility. You know, you we are responsible for certain things. We are not responsible for other things. And if we give our time and effort into that, uh we we will not have time to you know, personally develop ourselves, right? So, we need to learn to say no. The other thing is to learn to delegate, right? This is another important thing. What does delegate mean? We're going to look at it a little later, but in a simple way, delegate means to learn to hand over responsibilities. And there's a way to do that, right? So that we we can especially if you're overseeing a team, if you're over you have a big responsibility. Now, we need to delegate responsibly, right? We need to do it in a way so that the work uh you give that responsibility to the person in a way that that person can actually do it effectively. Right? In fact, more effectively than how we would have done it, right? Because for various reasons, it is they they are good at it and they have the time for it and they've also been trained for it. And so, you know, you give them the work and they do it. But you're just overseeing it. So so, delegating, right? So that leaves us with more time. The third thing, how we can organize our time better for, you know, spending time on ourselves to develop ourselves is to have a list. Like it is to have a what we can call as a to-do list. We studied in this leadership as well. To do a to-do list to that helps us to do things um you know, without missing out certain things and also that helps us to do the work assigned for us. So we don't miss out on certain things and what are those things that we need to be done. And also, along with that to-do list, it is good for us to assign a time frame, right? Saying, "Okay, by this time I need to do this." So that you don't spend the whole 24 hours doing one task, right? So we we say, "Okay, I need to finish this task within this time." The to-do list. Um Yes, it also means to give up certain things that you don't want to do, you don't need to do. Don't want to do meaning it it it means that, okay, you postpone it to a certain time. If it's important, you need to do it. If it's necessary, you need to do it. But, if it's not important, if it's not urgent, if it's not necessary, then you can put it on the shelf. Like, you don't have to waste your time with it right now, right? Because time is only 24 hours. Okay. So, if there are some things that you don't need to do, right? It is not necessary, even those we don't have to um [snorts] you know, take care of them, take it upon ourselves to do it, right? Um this is also something that we studied earlier, identifying what is our most productive time of the day, right? Uh because all of us have that uh sense of you know, time in the sense we certain times of the day we are very productive, right? We are we are able to do things well, and certain times of the day we are not able to do things well because our energy level is low, our concentration, focus, everything is low. So, the thing is to do the most demanding task during that time. You know, what is it really required, what is really important, what really demands our thinking, our analysis, our physical effort. Why? Because we are um we are most effective during such times, right? So, do it. Now, uh again, we should say we we should also say that when we are working in a team, well, irrespective of whether we are you know, most productive at that at that certain time or not, we need to be able to work. Like, we need to be able to put in that effort, right? Because the others require our uh our our work. They they require what what work we are doing. We need to do that. For example, if uh let's say in a church setting, if you you know as a as a as a setup team, you know, you're part of the setup team where you're setting up the audio, you're setting up the video so that the next team can come and take over or you know participate in in the result of the work that you've done. Maybe you've set up everything, all the equipment, everything, the audio you've set up. Now the worship team will need to come and as soon as your work is done in order to be able to practice in order to be able to you know run through their songs so that they can be ready for the service, right? So the setup team, the worship team. Now you might be part of the setup team and you might be let's say most energetic in the afternoon, right? But if the setup required is required to be done early in the morning so that the worship team may come irrespective of when you're energetic, you need to be able to go and do it, right? But normally in the normal course of life, if you are most energetic at a certain time, identify it and work that requires your thinking, your your energy, you know, do it at that time, right? Okay, then of course this so we looked at time then you know it it's good for us to put up put together a a CV, a resume that it's it's not only for you know normally when we think of resume we do it when we apply for jobs, right? When you're applying for a ministry position or applying for a employment. Now that is when we put together a resume, right? Curriculum vitae as it's called, CV, right? But yes it is useful during for that and we need it, but it It be very useful for our own benefits, for our own putting together of a what what have we done with our life? Right? What have we studied? What has been our experience? Because, you know, you learn new skills, we don't put it there. You know, if you don't update our resume, right? Maybe you in the last 6 months you learned something new. Maybe in the last 1 year you learned something new. So, if we update our resume, then those skills, those learnings can be transferred, you know, it could be just a word doc, it could be just a piece of paper that you write it. Um but it it ain't for sure, size paper and you file it away. But it can be helpful. Okay, you're saying, "Okay, 2026 August. Okay, this is my resume." Right? So, it it'll help to put to the list down the skills and abilities, education, um employment qualifications, everything, you know, whatever activities that you were involved in, whatever volunteer work that you did. All that goes into the resume to to for you to be personally able able to assess it. And also, if you need to share it with a prospective employer, then you can share that, right? Now, just want to say that when we want to develop ourselves personally or if we want to learn a new skill or sharpen an old skill, definitely there are barriers, right? So, uh there's there is a barrier because something which is new, which is uh not our comfort zone. And we're not comfortable with it, it is something new. So, definitely there will we will feel some kind of a lack of confidence, right? Um And so, we it it is not normal for us to experience that because it's a new thing. Right? Maybe you want to do you know you want to do a course on public speaking. Maybe you've never spoken publicly. [clears throat] You've always publicly in the sense addressing a you know formal gathering. You've never done that and you know that is something that you feel that okay this work that I'm thinking of requires that making presentations and so on. And so you're saying okay I need to build that skill. Right? So suppose you do a course. You now you're required to speak. Right? Now that's not something that is comfortable. So you feel maybe your confidence level is low. You feel that you know my thoughts are not coming in order. My you know the words that I speak you know I'm I'm constantly searching for words. I need to build my vocabulary the language that I you you know the grammar and everything it's it's not proper. So you feel less confident. Right? It's normal to feel that. But that lack of confidence or that lack of even self-esteem should not be an obstacle. Right? We we need to push past that barrier. Say yes it's normal but it's not I'm not going to be this way. Right? Yes it is normal to feel this way but I'm not going to be in that same same place that I'm going to move further and even if we improve 1% you know that's what they say you know 1% every day. Now that's progress. 1% one out of 100. Right? So it's a small shift but definitely it's a shift for the better. Right? So if you learn a new word if you learn a new phrase if you learn a new way of doing things, Excuse me. It's better. It's progress. Right? So, don't let the lack of confidence or lack of you know self-esteem stop you from moving forward. Yes, it let it not be a permanent obstacle. Right? The second one is the finances required. Right? Sometimes See, let's say we're doing a course, if we're doing something, maybe you want to do it in a in a in a different place, different country. Definitely there are you know finances are required. Like money is required. But then today with the technology that we have, with the internet, and with the content that is available on the internet, this is definitely overcome. Right? So, those days maybe years before, you know, [clears throat] if we cannot travel to a certain place and you know be in that place and enroll in that um physically be part of some university or school, then we may not be have access to that education. But today we can do that. Right? With the technology, we can enroll online and and so many of you are you know are online and you know from from a different place in in the in in from different places in India, from you know from places outside of India. So, you see that >> [clears throat] >> it is possible. So, even though this can seem like a barrier, it is not because of technology, because of so many free courses as well. Like inexpensive and also, you know, where we don't have to spend any money. This is available on certain other platforms also. Like if you're looking at practical learning and practical skills, you know, there is like Coursera and Udemy and all and all these sites offer courses that you can do it for free, right? Um and of course, if you need a certificate, you need to pay um a certain amount. But these these the the learning is available, right? And so many other avenues also. So, that is a second thing. The third one would be of course, if you are in a season of life where you are a um you know, a you have you have always you committed to a family in the sense you you know, you are a parent, you are have young children and you are a parent, you have maybe teenage children and whatever be the season of life, there are some family commitments like when you uh spending time with the family, uh family responsibilities are there. Maybe you're a you know, you're like a homemaker, there are some fam you know, responsibilities. But we can always work around those responsibilities, right? Maybe a few hours on a certain day, uh we can always find and we can we can always work around it, right? But the main thing is to find out, okay, and be intentional and see, okay, in a week or in a day, what are those hours that I can use for bettering myself, for developing myself, right? What I What is it can I What is it I can invest towards personal development, right? So, with that we come to the end of this chapter and then we'll move into uh you know, personal planning and and all the other other skills that we want to develop into. Some Some of Some of these things we will go at a brisk pace because we've already learned in leadership and so on. Uh Christian leadership. But some we will take some time to dwell on dwell on this uh dwell further in into [clears throat] this topic, right? Okay. So, with that we'll stop here and um we'll meet next class. If you have any questions, you know, you can make a note of it. We'll address it in our uh next class, right? All right, thank you. God bless. >> Thank you, sir. Thank you, sir. >> Thank you. God bless you. Bye-bye.
