Video summary
The video features a live dial call between an insurance agent named Clark Stanley and a potential client named Timothy, who expresses significant skepticism about starting conversations with salespeople. The segment begins by highlighting the common frustration clients feel when approached without context or respect for their time, noting that many have been burned by previous agents promising coverage only to face denials days later due to pre-existing conditions like disabilities or medication use. Clark addresses these concerns immediately by establishing his role as an independent underwriter in New Jersey who works with nearly every carrier available, thereby offering a broader range of options than traditional single-carrier agents and increasing the likelihood of approval for difficult cases.
As the conversation progresses, Timothy reveals that he is 54 years old, disabled for twelve years, and takes pain medication, which often leads to automatic rejections from standard policies. He shares a personal story about previously holding a large term life policy that became prohibitively expensive upon renewal due to divorce proceedings, leaving him without coverage when it was most needed. Despite his financial constraints and fear of high monthly premiums, Timothy is motivated by a strong desire as a father to ensure his adult children are not burdened with final expenses or funeral costs after he passes away. Clark validates this sentiment, praising Timothy's dedication as a parent while explaining that no medical exams or blood work are required for the specific burial insurance being discussed, only basic health questions.
Clark reassures Timothy that there is zero cost to apply today and explains how state regulations provide discounts for individuals over fifty, making affordable coverage accessible even for those on limited budgets like disability income or SSI. He clarifies a common misconception regarding medical history affecting future applications by explaining that while some carriers may decline based on past issues, an independent agent can strategically select the specific companies most likely to approve Timothy's unique situation without penalizing him for previous denials. The call concludes with Clark asking a few preliminary health questions from his form to begin identifying which carrier offers the best balance of coverage and cost for Timothy's family, demonstrating a transparent process focused on finding an immediate solution rather than making empty promises.

Timothy. How you doing this morning?
>> I don't know. How are you?
>> I'm doing well, sir. I appreciate you
asking. Uh, my name's Clark Stanley. I'm
I'm an underwriter in your area. Uh, I
saw a request you put in a few days ago
for information on burial and final
expense insurance. Looks like you're in
Piscat. Is that correct?
>> Sir, that's not how you start a
conversation out. I don't you whole
minute worth. I had no idea who who you
were. Uh, so you sell insurance?
>> Uh, yeah. I I apologize, sir, if I
offended you. I was just introducing
myself. Yeah, I was just calling about
the burial insurance you you requested
information on.
>> And through [clears throat] what um
company do you do do that through?
>> Yeah. So, I actually am an independent
underwriter. So, I work with almost
every carrier in the state of New
Jersey, sir.
>> Of course. Okay. And uh what makes you
different than anybody else that
guarantees me that I'll be accepted and
then uh 3 days later I get a uh a uh
denial.
um letter in the mail.
>> Has that been happening to you a lot,
sir?
>> Every single time.
>> Oh my gosh. I'm very sorry. Well, sir, I
I'll tell you this, Mr. Do you go by Tim
or Timothy? Sir,
>> it doesn't matter.
>> Okay. So, Mr. Tim, I'll tell you this.
Um, one, I I'll be very upfront with you
and I can kind of walk you through your
options. Um, like I said, working with
every carrier in the state, I just do
that so my clients have uh a little bit
more uh, you know, spread in what
they're looking at. And the goal there
is to find you the lowest cost for the
most coverage. Okay. Um and then what
what I'll do, sir, is I'll walk you
through what that looks like, figure out
kind of your goal with your family and
your budget. Um and then you're not
paying anything today either, Mr. Tim.
What I'll do is just help you get an
application in to get you approved. And
we'll know today if you're approved,
sir. So there's no um
>> Well, let me just tell you where I I'm
at. And then so we're on the same boat.
I will never pay anything on the day
someone calls me and says, "Hey, I can
get you life insurance." So, at least at
least we're on the same page.
>> Uh second, um
>> um I I I don't even know. I I I do know
in the past, I don't know how it is
today, but in the past, it used to be
that every time you got dinged
[clears throat] on your uh one life
insurance, it it affects you the next
time you go after life insurance that
you got dinged once, it affects you for
the next one and so on down the road.
>> Okay.
>> Is that still the effect today?
>> No, sir. No. You mean like if you were
declined from another one, it will
affect your right.
>> No. So that's that's that some carriers,
but knowing your situation, um I'll know
which carriers to avoid and which ones
will be our best option there. Okay. So
some
>> well my situation is very simple. Okay.
I'm uh I am
>> Tim. Can you hear me? Okay.
>> Disabled man.
>> Okay.
>> I'm 54. Disabled for uh 12 years.
>> Okay. I take a lot of pain meds.
>> Okay.
>> Um I um so if you pull up my medical
records, which I'm sure they they do.
That's why they say no medical's ass.
Well, duh. Once you pull up your social
security number, it all comes up. So
people are so dumb when when they say
that, you know, you got to be around the
block a few times
that you Well, Tim, let me tell you
this, sir. I I first of all um I the way
this will work I'm just going to ask you
a couple questions to get to know you
and your situation. Okay. Um there is no
there is what usually what people mean
when they say that is that there's not a
physical uh health test or you don't
have to go in and get blood work done
and blood like so we're looking at
basically just a few basic health
questions and then from there I'll walk
you through your options. Okay. So that
that's that's about the extent of it
sir. Um, and I always tell clients I
work with, I'll I'll be as
straightforward with you, sir, as I
would a family member. Um, I just ask
that you do the same with me and and
we'll we'll get it on fine.
>> I I don't I don't I don't cut around the
bush. I can tell you right out.
>> I can tell you I I can tell that already
by by how this this combo's going, Tim.
I appreciate that about you. So sir, on
the
>> and and in no way in no way, sir, do I
try to be rude at all. No,
>> that I I'm I'm sick and I've been around
the the block. And um so what what
insurance? I know you say you you're an
underwriter for a thousand, but who do
you work for directly or do you work for
yourself?
>> I I work for myself, sir. But Tim, let
me
>> Okay. You're independent.
>> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. and I I I work
directly with most most insurance
carriers in the state of New Jersey. So
Tim, let me let me just ask you a couple
questions here and then and then we'll
kind of go from there. Okay. So sir, on
the form you just put your name. Were
you looking for just you or you and
someone else?
>> No, just me.
>> Just you. Okay. And then um sir, are you
hoping to just cover your final
expenses, burial, cremation, or you want
to leave some extra money behind for
loved ones on top of that?
>> Well, it depends on how much it costs.
>> Of course. Yes, sir. Okay. Very good.
And who is it that you're most who who
are you most concerned about protecting,
Tim, with with getting a policy for
yourself?
>> Well, I don't want my kids left. My kids
are adults.
>> Okay.
>> But I don't want them le left with uh um
the final expenses,
>> of course. Yeah. How many kids do you
have, Tim?
>> I Two.
>> Two.
>> And uh they're 31 and uh 29 next month.
>> Okay. What are their what are their
names? uh Michael and uh Ash ash Ash
Ashley, but I would have Michael as the
um primary.
>> Okay. Okay. And then sir, do
>> I don't know if you can
>> Yeah, we can do a primary and a
contingent beneficiary. Yes, sir. Yep.
>> Okay.
>> So, Mr. Tim, you said you don't want
Michael and Ashley left with
>> with any financial burden. Do you feel
like that would be a uh would that be a
would that be a financial strain for
them if you didn't have any coverage in
place? Yeah, it would. Yeah. I I'm not
talking about medical bill. No, none of
that. There's none of that stuff. I'm
talking about the um financial as the
final expenses. Yes.
>> Okay. Okay. Well, tell me why that's
>> But if I could leave them Go ahead. Why
Why is it What?
>> Why? Why is that important to you to
take care of for for Michael and Ashley,
Tim?
>> Well, because I'm a good father. I don't
want to leave them with a responsibility
that is mine, not theirs.
>> Okay?
>> I mean, I used to have a huge life
insurance and I really screwed myself
because it was a large 25 year term.
>> Mh. And when it came term, my divorce
was going through and it was it was a
very heated divorce and it came through
and my agent came and goes, "Oh, we I I
had I had uh 200 I had a 250,000. I paid
19 bucks a month, right?"
>> Mhm.
>> And fantastic. And he goes, "I can give
you the same one. It'll be $52 a month.
it'll roll over to $52 for another 25
years, right? I'm like, "Oh, that's way
too expensive." You know, she's digging
me out. I can't af you know, whatever. I
didn't think stupid. I didn't think I
could have just rolled that over, went
up, you know, from 19 to 20 to 52,
whatever, and change. And I wouldn't be
having this, you know, talk because I
doubt 25 years from now I'd have to
worry about it. So,
>> yeah. Well, I'm sorry to hear that, sir.
Well, so it sounds to me like, so one, I
just want to commend you, Tim. You said
earlier, you know, it matters to you
because you're a good father. Um, and I
just want to commend you for that.
Father to father to father, I can tell
by the way you're talking and um and
even looking into this, sir, you know,
not a lot of people actually take that
step to look into getting something
handled for their for their family. So,
that just tells me a lot about it that
tells me a lot about you as a father,
sir.
>> I appreciate that. And the ideal thing
for my children is to have a funeral at,
you know, [clears throat] church funeral
and then go to the cemetery and have
that whole whole thing regardless if if
there's if there if there's a um um if
there's a um body or or or not, you
know, if you know, but that's that's
what I know they would want to come to,
you know, um but I don't know what I can
afford is the other thing. So,
>> well, we'll we'll talk through that,
Tim. And and again, here here's the
thing, sir. You're not you're not paying
anything today. What we'll do, let me
just ask you a couple health questions,
and that'll help me I'll be able to pull
up every carrier in the state, sir. And
what we'll do is just walk through
exactly which one will get Michael and
Ashley the most benefit for the lowest
cost to you. Um, and then based on the
one that sounds best to you, I'll I'll
help you get at least applied so we know
if you're approved today. And then when
you're ready for that to
>> Did you go ahead?
>> Did you find me? Did I fill out a form?
Yes, sir. Somewhere or
>> you filled out a form? Yes, sir. You
filled out a form. I think it was on
Facebook um for the state regulated
final expense. Yeah.
>> Oh, the state regul. Yes, I remember.
>> Yes, sir. Yep. Yes, sir. So, all that
means, Mr. Tim is that it is discounted
by the state for people over the age of
50. So basically the the goal is I know
you said budgets has been an issue in
the past. Um affordability is my main
concern as well sir. Most of my clients
are on uh limited to no budget. They're
on disability or SSI and we still find
them something that's affordable. Um
because I I like hearing you talk sir it
sounds like you would agree like some
some coverage is better than none,
right? like some thousand is going to
help Michael and Ashley more than than
nothing. So, I'd rather get you
approved.
>> I don't but I I don't want to pay, you
know, 3040 $50 a month for them to have
a 5,000.
>> Okay. Hey, well, again, it's based on on
age and health here. So, what I'll do,
Tim, and we'll determine that together
here. So, let me just ask you a few
health questions here, sir.
>> Yeah, go ahead.
>> And then and then we'll kind of go from
there. Okay. Um, so on the form here
sir, you put your your birthday is uh
[cheering]
