Video summary

Latha Jay introduces a transformative approach to personal growth centered on the idea that true change requires shifting deep-seated subconscious beliefs rather than relying on mere wishful thinking. As a spiritual strategist with backgrounds in psychology and biology, she explains that manifestation operates continuously through both conscious effort and our unconscious default state, making emotions the primary drivers of creation since the heart sends more signals to the brain than vice versa. Her philosophy posits that problems are not signs of failure but rather portals for healing and evolution, urging individuals to embody the reality they wish to attract by becoming the person capable of receiving success. This perspective is rooted in her own journey of leaving medical school to pursue organic farming, fashion design, and technology before finding her true calling in coaching, where she helps clients like Tara overcome fear to take life-changing actions such as delivering a eulogy for a grandmother. The core of her methodology involves a neuroscience-based technique detailed in her upcoming book, *The 24/7 Manifestation Method*, which focuses on rewriting subconscious beliefs during the hypnagogic state—the impressionable period between wakefulness and sleep. By repeating a specific, positive affirmation in the present tense twenty-four times in the morning and twenty-four times before bed for seven consecutive days, individuals can effectively rewire their minds to support new outcomes. Jay advises against using run-on sentences that cause overwhelm, instead promoting crisp, singular goals that clearly define the desired reality. This practice is designed to break cycles of "repetition compulsion," where people unconsciously recreate familiar patterns with difficult bosses or cheating partners until they recognize themselves as the common variable and consciously choose a new identity to end the cycle. Beyond specific techniques, Jay emphasizes that language shapes reality and that examining external results reveals one's internal state, noting that repeating negative self-talk perpetuates an unhealthy environment by attracting similar outcomes. She explains that while the nervous system acts as a safety mechanism favoring familiar patterns due to fear of risk, regulating it allows individuals to welcome new possibilities and step into the unknown from a place of struggle rather than clinging to limiting stability. This shift is crucial because the future is being created in the present moment, requiring listeners to stop dwelling on past failures and instead focus on building new communities and realities today. For immediate practice, she recommends observing triggers before reacting to distinguish between automatic reactions and conscious responses, alongside engaging in shadow work approached with gentleness, compassion, and curiosity rather than aggression. Ultimately, Jay's message encourages viewers to dare to dream by understanding that current challenges are opportunities for a new version of oneself to emerge through the alignment of internal beliefs and external actions. By shifting their mindset from fear-based patterns to empowered identities, individuals can transform their lives and create the success they desire. Her work, which includes programs like "Speak Her," global retreats, and journals focused on self-love, aims to guide people toward a life of fulfillment where they are no longer victims of circumstance but architects of their own destiny. Through these integrated practices, she demonstrates how embracing the present moment and rewriting one's internal narrative can lead to profound personal evolution and the realization of long-held dreams.

People need to understand that manifesting happens 24/7. You are manifesting all day long, whether you are conscious of it or if it's coming from your unconscious or your default state. But the thing is, if we're not focused also on the default state, on the thoughts that are underlying, on our subconscious thoughts, then we're not actually making a true change. But the underlying thing is to shift your default state, to shift the thoughts that are happening subconsciously because they're running all the time. It is about becoming. It's not about just that wishful thinking or the the wanting of an object, but it's about really embodying it, about >> bringing it into who you are. Layla Jay is a spiritual strategist, manifestation expert, speaker, and author who bridges science and spirituality. She's got degrees in psychology and biology, advanced training in Ayurvedic and integrative medicine, and years of experience guiding thousands of clients globally. Layla teaches that manifestation is about becoming the person who can fully receive it. Her signature philosophy is that problems are portals. The challenges we resist are the very experiences inviting us into healing, self-discovery, and evolution. In her new book, The 24/7 Manifestation Method, Becoming a Magnet for Success in Just 7 Days, Layla presents practical ways to live in alignment. And today, we're going to explore why manifestation practices sometimes fail and how the brain and the body influence what we believe is possible, and how to actually become a match for the life and the things we desire. Welcome to Dare to Dream, where we explore the extraordinary intersections of creativity, consciousness, purpose, and the lives that inspire us to see ourselves differently. I'm your host, Debbie Dashinger, and I welcome Latha Jay to the Dare to Dream Show. It's so great to have you here. >> Thanks, Debbie. Thanks for having me. >> And I'm saying your name right. Let's say I want to make sure Latha is the right way to say your name. >> Latha. >> Latha. Does that mean something? >> Latha, yes, it means the observer or it's a it's the name of a a creeping vine on the side, you know, like a a vine that would creep up a building. >> Oh, it's beautiful. Well, what a great conversation we're going to have. I'm so excited because once upon a time there was a secret, and that was a big boon, and I'm grateful for it. It opened an important conversation. I think it opened the new age movement a little to the mainstream. And then I think people got a little frustrated or a lot frustrated cuz they felt they were doing all the right things. So, I know today you're going to be showing us all the things that are wrong that we're still doing, and then all the possibilities to actually align with what we prefer. So, I want to start Latha with your journey. And was there something, a pivot moment that happened where you yourself were frustrated, and you felt like I have to find a different way? >> Oh, absolutely. There was a lot of those moments, but definitely one in particular stands out. I also want to mention with The Secret, that was such a turning point in my life because I had always known I've always had this innate know that I was meant to help people. And when I shared this idea with my family, they were like, this is a wonderful thing. You should become a doctor. >> [laughter] >> So, my whole life I had really been geared towards becoming a doctor. And you know, I did my undergraduate learning of biology, pre-med, all of that stuff. Went to medical school itself, but you know, day one of medical school I knew it wasn't for me. And I knew that it was like not in alignment with who I wanted to ultimately become and how I want to work with people, but I kind of stuck with it and it was almost like I was gaslighting myself. Like, just you know, chill out. Like, this is this is for you. You're helping people. It's a great job. And it is, right? There's so much love that goes into medicine, but I knew that it wasn't for me. It wasn't in alignment with who I was meant to be. So, just about 6 months before graduation, maybe just a little bit longer than that, I decided to leave. And I left without earning the the MD degree and it it was kind of a shake-up and you know, every time I share this with people, they're like, why didn't you just stay and finish it? I couldn't. I literally could not do it because I could not fathom continuing to be in the profession that I was not aligned with, you know? So, it was like, I had to leave. There was one morning that I had woken up in med school where I was just like, this cannot be what life is about. Like, this can't be it. I know this I'm I'm on the wrong timeline or something. Like, this is not what it's about. And I knew I was like, I got to get out of here. And I I up and left. And you know what the thing was, I left without a plan. I left without a knowing or what was next, but I was so so clear on what I wasn't going to do any longer, on what I was complete with. And that's what was like a huge shift for me. >> Oh my. Okay, well, that's pretty big. Leaving without a plan, a knowing, or strategy. So, what did you do to bridge those years and how did you end up here? >> So, I have been in the wellness space since I was like 15 years old. I've always been on, you know, more natural-minded and wanting to help people with these different things. I had a coaching practice even in high school, a little coaching practice. I would take girls on retreats and do things like that. So, it was like always just like innately what I loved to do. I loved to work with people. I loved to do this. So, actually when I left medical school, I actually became a farmer for a little bit and learned all about organic farming. I know, right? Natural path here. It was not. It was just kind of like I needed a place to live. I needed some food to eat. I had no money. I [laughter] was like in in way debt, right? After medical school, I had I literally had no money. And I found a program. It's called WWOOFers. It's a World Organization of Organic Farmers. And you could coordinate with someone that owns an organic farm and you could go and like essentially be a volunteer there and they would give you a place to sleep and they'd feed you. No pay, but I was like, "Well, that's all I need. Cool." So, that's what I did. And it was in that process that I was so ground It was such a grounding process. Such an incredible grounding process to have my hands in the dirt, to eating clean, to being far far away from all of the distractions, you know, that was was going on. To be able to like lay in the grass and look up at the night sky and see the twinkling stars. I don't know. It just like it reset my mind and my brain. And after doing that for a little while, I decided I wanted to get back into like civilization a little bit. And I, you know, my parents were gracious enough to let me come back and and sleep on the couch for a little bit. And you know, we had our own journey to work through cuz my parents were, I would say, quite hurt by my decision to leave medical school. They didn't really understand it. And I mean, honestly, I didn't understand it at the time. I just knew that it had to be done. And after that, I did everything possible. I mean, I got certified in yoga. I became a meditation teacher. I went to fashion school. I went to FIT in New York City. I started up my a two fashion lines actually that that would did pretty good for a while. I went and worked in tech. I have done so many different jobs because honestly I didn't know what I wanted. But I was very clear on what I didn't want. And even though these industries sound so different from one another, there was always a common thread. And I had to identify that between the different things that I was doing. What did I like? What did I not like? And the common thread that I really really enjoyed through everything was people. It was working with people. Even when I worked in tech, I mean I remember that you know, it was like a new tech job that I had taken and every you know, I was introducing myself to people and I said oh you know, and I I'm doing this thing with spirituality on the side and this is you know, what I really love to do. And one of my co-workers actually had like secret message I mean like an AM like an AIM kind of thing like they had just messaged me through the messenger and was like, "Hey, I'd love to like get coaching with you." And I was like, "Oh, cool, you know, like that's what I always wanted to do. That's where I want to support people. That's where I wanted to be." And slowly it kind of dawned on me like, "Okay, wait. So then just do that. If that's where you feel aligned, if that's where you feel like your joy is and where you feel most alive, then do that." And it was kind of this trust fall exercise to say if I trust my joy and I move in this direction, what the heck is going to happen? And I did it and I I kind of just took that leap of faith and it's it served me very well now. I mean um it's it's been you know, decades since that point, but it has really been able to allow me to feel true alignment in life and feel like I'm actually working in alignment with my dharma, my life purpose, with what I'm meant to do here on Earth. And it's um it's been truly beautiful. And getting to work with such beautiful people all the time, you know, like people just on their own journey looking for their purpose and trying to figure out what they want to create in their life and showing them how they can do that has been such a joy. >> Wow. So, most important question I can ask up front is so now can you make your own clothes and do you? >> [laughter] >> Yeah, all the time. And for my yeah, for my kids and you know, when something rips I can always fix it. Yeah, I mean I had a couture ball gown lines I would make like high-end things and and I still have a couple of pieces. The kids are always like, "Oh my god, this is so cool, Mom." Like, "Yeah, you know, I had a life before you came here, too." So, it's it's really cool. Yeah. I don't sew as much like couture stuff anymore. It takes a lot of effort to you know, put this together. But like a simple dress, yes, absolutely. Little things with a pattern. I mean, that's you know, pretty easy to do. So. >> Oh, what a great life. Listen, I relate to you deeply and I think uh I think on the other side it always makes sense. While we're going through it, it's kind of like, "Well, this is fun, but this is not it, but this is fun." And that was my journey, a lot of it. And I liken it to skiing switchbacks, going back and forth. And eventually, it made abundant sense. So, with that in mind, I'm curious because at the very top, you mentioned something about your family. And your family regarding manifestation, including your grandmother. So, what was that in your family lineage that spoke to a lot of what you do now? >> Oh my gosh, it's deeply related to all everything that I do now. I'll say that the language has changed. Like everything that I was taught was in Tamil. Words are in Sanskrit and stuff like that. But now, with the secret, it actually had given me the language to speak in English and to talk more about it with people that, you know, I could could communicate in a better way. But I was raised by my grandmother and she really believed in Ayurveda and in energy work and in healing and being able to use your mind in, you know, different ways. One of the key components in Ayurveda, which is the the study of life. It's the science of life. I think that's the official definition of Ayurveda. Science of life. And it's really the idea that your mind, body, and soul are one. It's all connected. You can't have optimal health if it's not all balanced. It can't be that your body is physically great, but your mind is suffering, right? It can't be that you're spiritually misaligned, but you're you got a great mind and a strong body. It's like, "No." To have true optimal health, all of this is is together. It's all connected. And an ailment in the body is an ailment in the mind. An ailment in your spirit is an ailment in your body. Like, everything, you know, is is really connected. And that's how I was raised. And I didn't even realize that other people didn't live like this until I started going to school. You know, public school in New York City um in New York. I was just like, "Well, oh, people aren't like this at all. People don't meditate, and they don't pray, and they don't eat like this, and there's not, you know, an idea about how their mind is so powerful." You know, it was it was almost the opposite. And I remember as a kid trying to explain what manifestation is to my friends, and they were just like, "This is weird." Like, you're just like a little weirdo kind of thing. And the only way I could articulate it was uh you know, it's like when you think with your heart. And when I think back to that, I'm like, "Yeah, that is the most purest definition of manifestation when you're able to call something into fruition through a thought with a feeling." Right? And sometimes we think like our brain is like the master. I don't know. And when we think about all of the organs, we're like, "Oh, the brain is like the master." But if you really think about it and you know the science behind it, there's more nerves that go from your heart to your brain than from your brain to your heart, right? And when you think about that, it's like, "Wait a second, who's sending who the messages?" And it's like your heart, your feelings, your emotions are so impactful in what it is that you think about and how you you create in the world and what's coming up next for you. And and in the space of manifesting, it's so powerful. >> [clears throat and cough] >> Wow, that's beautiful. And it's beautiful you were brought up with that. That's, you know, what a great life your soul chose to be surrounded by that kind of impactful information. And I'd love to know when you talk about working with people and that that's your life now, what does that look like? Or give us an example of someone you work with clearly without their name and what they came to you for, the kind of ways you work with them, the potential outcomes, things like that. >> Yeah, I mean it I I offer different programs and different kind of ways to work with me. But I'll say that for one of my one of my favorite programs actually, it's called Speak Her. And in it, I've had people come in, we'll just call this person Tara. Tara had come in and she wanted to use her voice. And in the program, I coach people for essentially it's like 6 weeks and then they get on stage and they're able to deliver a speech, a keynote speech to the audience. And it's such a powerful experience. And day one, she's shaking in her boots, right? She's like, "Why did I sign up for this?" kind of thing. And it's like through the process, we're actually uncovering so much more than just your voice. It's so much more than writing an impactful script, right? Anybody can do that at the end of the day. But it's like really embodying it, bringing that power in, knowing that you can use your voice is so powerful. You know, and Tara came up and she did it, she did the program, she spoke on stage and it was great. And you know, it was a few weeks later that I actually got a message from her and said, "Hey, you know, it was wonderful to speak on stage. I don't think I'm ever going to use this video or whatever." And I'm like, "Fine, that's you know, you can you can use it on your website or on social media or whatever." She's like, "I don't think I'll ever use this video, but I have to tell you that because of this program, when my grandmother passed away, I was able to stand up and give the eulogy." And I was like, "Cool." And she said that was life-changing for her because prior to it, it never would have happened. And she was like, "There was something that just awoke within me that could allow her now to be able to stand up and speak when it really mattered." And that's the whole point, right? It's not not everybody is going to be the person that's giving a keynote on stage. Not everybody is going to be the one that's going to become a content creator or something like that. It's like in life, how does this impact your everyday life? How does this shift things for you even in a minute way, but it's going to be such a huge pivot. That's what really matters. >> Yeah, and speaking in front of people, I understand is the number one fear. So, this is a great example and as someone like myself who does speak all around the world and on stages and I had to go through a program. I had spoke before, but I realized the universe is calling me to a higher level. I need coaching and you know, I surrendered to that. It was beautiful experience. When you take these people and I imagine most of them have at least a modicum of discomfort if not to extreme discomfort. What are the ways you work with them to get them to the end result where they actually without a script, what you said was very powerful. Not a written script that they're memorizing, but instead I can embody this. I can embody my potency, my knowing and I can deliver. Talk about that. >> Absolutely. So, when people come in, it's not only just about the script. It's not about just planning out a great speech or like hitting your points or anything like that, but the way that I go through this program in itself is like to awaken your throat chakra, to really like do the work inside, to do the internal work, to to work on those shadows, to work on what's coming up for you for the fears because that's what really limits us. Everybody can write a speech. Anybody can write down four sentences and deliver it. Like, okay. But it's like the actual ability to embody that and to do it with power and to do it with emotion and to evoke emotion in the person that's listening to it. That's where a change happens. That's where you're able to hypnotize an audience. That's where you're able to cap- captivate who you're speaking to and be impactful and that's what I truly teach. That's what I want people to be in their power because when they stand in their power, everyone else can sense it. Right? And that's why that's been my main goal and purpose in life for for now over two decades. >> Yeah, especially thank you for doing that because especially at a time globally where people are feeling so impotent, so powerless, that you're teaching them to stand in their power, stand in their voice, stand in their knowing. I really like that. And I want to talk a little bit about the typical ways that people have been taught to create. There's good information out there, and it's generally visualize, you can journal, you can affirm, you can maintain a high vibration. And for many people they feel this frustration like, "Gosh, I have done all of that with good faith, but nothing's changed." So, what is happening beneath the surface? Somebody's deny wanting success or desiring love or abundance, something big in their life that will be life-changing, and also how we relate to ourselves changing. But here they are working and they're not really receiving it. >> Yeah, I've had the opportunity to work with some really incredible people, you know, celebrities and politicians and, you know, people at the forefront of so much that's going on in the world, and it's been such an honor and a privilege to be able to do that. And in the process, I'll tell you that everybody is the same. Whether you are the local high school teacher or on the top 100 Billboard chart, you know, as it is one of the most well-known musicians, it's like we have the same problems. It's really People need to understand that manifesting happens 24/7. You are manifesting all day long, whether you are conscious of it or if it's coming from your unconscious or your default state. Now, people can easily understand conscious manifestation cuz it's like we're thinking about it and it happens. We're putting our heart energy into it, right? Like I would explain as a child into what we're focused on and that's how we manifest, absolutely. But the thing is, if we're not focused also on the default state, on the thoughts that are underlying, on our subconscious thoughts, then we're not actually making a true change. Well, we might get that manifestation and we lose it because we don't truly believe that we're deserving of it. So, the way that I work with people, and it's a very practical way, I've actually written a book about it now, it's called the 24/7 manifestation method, but the underlying thing is to shift your default state, to shift the thoughts that are happening subconsciously because they're running all the time. There's only so many hours in the day, so many minutes in the day, really, that we can be conscious of our thoughts. So, the unconscious thoughts, the default thoughts, are running the show and that's what we're creating from. And so, when we're able to shift that, we're able to create a new life for ourselves. We're create We're able to create a new baseline even, from which then we can be in a space of conscious creation, but it really does start in our subconscious. >> Mhm. Okay, so that takes us beyond manifestation as wishful thinking or as default creation and into this deeper architecture. So, if lafa if manifestation is actually about becoming, can you break that down for us? >> Yeah, absolutely. So, it is about becoming, it's not about just that wishful thinking or the the wanting of an object, but it's about really embodying it, about bringing it into who you are and to be able to understand that you're deserving of it and able to hold space for it even to come in. If our life is so full with other things that we're just kind of managing or we're trying to, you know, make be maybe pleasing other people in that space, well, then we're taking up all the space and nothing else can come into us. But when we truly believe that we're deserving of it, when we're stepping into the version of ourself who already has it, that higher level space, then that's when the manifestations come in. And with the methodology of the 24/7 manifestation method, it's truly that you're rewriting your subconscious thoughts and in that process of the rewriting, you're changing who you are and then you shift your belief on what you can have in your life. And the way that that works is that, you know, a thought thought lots of times becomes a belief, something that we truly can embody. And then that belief then influences our actions and what we do in the world, but it also impacts the way that people then see us because we behave differently. So, it all starts, you know, if we trickle back, we go up the waterfall, we're knowing that it's coming it's coming from that state of the space of the thoughts. So, with the 24/7 Can I Can I share that method a little bit with you guys? >> Oh, please. Go deep into it. We love it. >> Cool. So, with the 24/7 manifestation method, it's super simple, right? It's based in neuroscience and I actually had developed this years and years ago and I worked with my private clients about it and it was so powerful that I was like, I got to write a book on it. So, I did. The 24/7 manifestation method. It's coming out in October and I'll tell you just the that this is so powerful in rewriting your subconscious state is because this state of time between rest and with every type of person, you know, it didn't matter it didn't matter gender, socioeconomic status, your ability to, you know, be spiritual or not, nothing of that mattered because it works in science. It works in the way that our neurons fire in our brain. So, the way that this works is that in the morning as soon as you wake up, you Well, first you're going to pick an affirmation. You're going to pick a a sentence essentially about your life in the positive present tense. So, it might be something that is specific to what it is that you're creating or calling into your life. It might be something like, "I'm so happy and grateful now that I have an additional $10,000 in the bank." Great, then that's going to be your affirmation and you're going to use that affirmation in the morning as soon as you wake up 24 times and then right before you go to bed, you're going to write this down 24 times again. Now, there's more to it, but this is just the baseline of it and the reason that this is so powerful in rewriting your subconscious state is because this state of time between rest and wakefulness is known as the hypnagogic state. And during this state of awareness or shift in awareness is when your subconscious is the most impressionable. And when during this time when we're impressing upon our subconscious a thought repeating again and again in routine for 7 days, it changes. And it's kind of like a hack to get deeper into your mind and really change those thoughts and it's so powerful. Now, in that week that you're doing it, your manifestation might not come true. It might not just happen all of a sudden, but I'll tell you what what what does happen. Your internal thoughts shift. And then the way that you function in your daily life shifts. And there's been so many times and I teach this on my retreats too when people come through cuz usually the retreats are 6 or 7 days and I always just kind of add this in like, "Hey guys, let's do this. We're here anyways, right? Let's get up in the morning and do this and let's do this before bed kind of thing. Let's just play around. Have fun with it." And people will do it and they're kind of like, "Ah, I don't know. I don't know about this. I'll do it but I'm cuz I'm here." I'm like, "Okay, cool." Inevitably, inevitably, I will get a message from that person in a couple of months and I'll be like, "You'll never believe this." >> [laughter] >> You know, the manifestations we're working on over in Costa Rica came true. This happened for me. This shifted for me, you know? And I'm just like, I do believe it. I absolutely believe it cuz I've seen it happen time and time and time again, you know? The person that believed that they couldn't get out of debt is suddenly, you know, working on a plan to get out of debt. It's going to be out of debt in three, four four or five months. The person that couldn't lose weight is suddenly in the space of shifting their mind and understanding what their body needs to be able to lose weight. The person that wanted a new job is shift, you know, it's like, "Wow, it's miraculous, you know?" It's always It always feels so special and magical when I get these messages and I'm I always, you know, love to live in that energy of it, but I'm never necessarily surprised by it. Mhm. I like know that this works and I've seen it work again and again and again. >> That's amazing. And so, 24 times in the morning right after we wake up, we write it out 24 times before we go to bed. We're in the hypnogogic state, which is very important to change things. And I assume, but I'd like to hear from you, you don't want a run-on sentence as an affirmation. Uh there's an extra $10,000 in my bank, my love life turns around, and I don't know. [laughter] And I'm losing weight. Let's just make one up. So, nothing like that. Anything deeper you can tell us about that process. And for how many days again? >> Yeah, so for for 7 days. So, it's called the 24/7 manifestation method. 24 times in the morning, 24 times in the evening for 7 days, consecutive days, right? So, I always tell people this, you don't want a run-on sentence for two reasons. One, it's hard to manage sometimes. We get overwhelmed. We're human beings, right? We can get overwhelmed on thinking about my love life, I'm thinking about my money, I'm thinking about Ooh, it's a lot. >> [laughter] >> And that's overwhelm is not the seat you want to be in when you're manifesting, right? So, we want to take it back and focus on one thing. We can focus on one thing. Anyone can focus on one thing. And creating a crisp and to the point efficient sentence is important because you're writing it 24/7 24 times, right? If you're writing it 24 times and you got a run-on sentence, you're going to be tired. It's going to take you a long time. And then guess what? You're going to feel a lot of resistance to doing it. You're probably not going to finish it. Why? Let's keep it to the point. Let's keep it crisp. Let's keep it moving, and let's get it done. That's what really matters. You know, having the the intellectual idea of it is wonderful, but the execution of it, the implementation of it, is what actually changes your life. So, I want people to actually do it. And I This is the third book I'm writing. The first two, I learned a lot through this process, right? If it's not easy, people aren't going to do it. If it doesn't feel like, "Oh, I could just jump right into it." not going to happen. And that's why this method is so impactful in so many people's lives because it's easy, you know? And you don't necessarily need a whole lot of anything else. You just get into it and you really focus on it and that's the baseline for it. We are so grateful to all of you for taking one moment out of your time to do that now. Thank you. All right. So, bringing Laefa back on. I'm going to shift gears. People who label uh what I'm doing, it's a failure. This is not working. You invite us, I know, instead to see this difficulty as an entrance. So, let's step through that doorway about problems are portals. How can a recurring challenge for somebody actually contain vital information? >> I firmly believe that problems are portals. And it's not necessarily the idea of how if if us going through the problem or approaching the problem if we have success with it or not, whatever we deem success or not, right? If we if we did it good or did it bad, whatever their judgment is upon it. It doesn't really matter. Even our own access to the problem, our own interaction with it as we're moving towards the obstacle, as we are navigating it is what shifts us and that's what changes us from one version of our self to another. It's if you and if you if you look back into your life, you will see this so clearly. Every time something happened, you might have thought, "Oh my gosh, this was life-changing. This was shifted me. It pivoted my life." It's like, "Yes, it did." It changed you from one way of being into another way of being. I mean, I know this very true for myself. I've seen it in my clients again and again, but it's like, "Okay, we go through a tough tough error in our life. We go through a divorce." Oh my gosh, and we think like "This is the biggest thing we've ever faced." And it's can be heartbreaking and really really shift our life, but it's in that interaction that then we have this opportunity for us to uplevel our lives, to shift something that's so significant and to step through a portal that can get us to a different place. Now, it's it's the energy that you're putting into it, right? Now, two people can go through the same challenge, the same problem, but if their mindsets are different, they're going to have very different outcomes. That portal is going to take them to a different place. If they believe, "Wow, this is I've learned so much from this. I'm not going to repeat this again. I'm well aware. Really shifted something." They're going to be shifted to a different place. Now, someone's like, "Woe is me. This was terrible. This divorce just wrecked me." You know, and get caught in this space of of not really being able to understand, they're going to continue to repeat this again and again. And we see this all the time. I mean, people that have gotten married five, six times or you know, or or it's this actually it's a psychological thing. It's it's known as the um repetition compulsion. We're compelled to continue to repeat the same cycle again and again until we're actually learning the lesson and can break free from it. But that breaking free from it is just truly the knowledge of understanding that we no longer want to continue that. We got what we got. We learned the lesson. Next, right? And being able to step into the next space of our lives. >> Yeah. So, can you walk us through how to decode that invitation that's hidden inside a problem? Teach us how to do it [clears throat] and also give us an example. >> Yeah, a big part of that is really being just retrospective is to looking at not only the problem that you're currently facing or something that's triggered you, but what you're currently facing and then seeing the pattern of how it might have come back in your life previously, right? You might be having an issue, let's say, with your boss at work and then you think, "Oh my god, my boss is terrible. They're const- constantly micromanaging me and I hate that." And then you think about your last job that you had, maybe in high school, and you're like, "Yeah, that boss was micromanaging me, too, and I hated that." Then you think back and you're like, "Wait a second, my parents used to micromanage me and I hated that." You know, and it's like, "Oh, wait, I see this pattern here." You start to notice the patterns of your life and then you notice that the common variable through all of these situations, right? And then it's this kind of awakening that happens when you realize, "Wait a second, I'm the common variable here. What's going on?" And sometimes that can be kind of jarring before it's empowering. But the empowerment does come through because you realize, "Wait a second, if I've created this pattern again and again in my life, I can uncreate it. I can choose differently and I can take on a different I can live my life in a different way. I can have this not happening again. I don't have to continue to repeat this cycle. I'm not caught in this cage anymore. I'm free." And that's when things can really shift in your life when you realize you've created it and you can create something different now. >> Yes. You know, I'm laughing listening to you because this memory came up as you're describing this. I haven't thought about this in forever, but once in another lifetime, when I was younger, I worked at NASA. And you know, N A S A, and when I was there, I remember at some point somebody saying that I was known for working with really difficult bosses. And I think I had a little bit of pride about that, like, I did something other people couldn't do. And I'm listening to you right now, and I'm reflecting on who I was back then that was even attracting such difficult bosses. And I can tell you some of them were wonderful, I thought, but a few of them were awful, like, almost broke me. And I wonder who that person was who was recreating over and over and not stepping outside of this pattern to choose something different. And maybe even to reflect and say, I don't know if I want that moniker. I don't think that's a great thing to be known as somebody who can actually deal with a difficult boss. What if I created wonderful, easy, funny, uh, productive, great to get along with, encouraging, acknowledging. I could have a laundry list of the words that I would use to describe who I am today, what I certainly would prefer. >> Absolutely, 100%. I think you hit the nail right on the head with that example, and it's so it's perfect, right? Because that's exactly what happens, that we get caught up in an identity that sometimes is assigned to us and we take it on. We take on the idea of, oh no, being the shy person. We take on the identity of being really successful with dealing with troubled youth. We take on the identity of, you know, whatever it is, we take on that identity, or we're always having a difficult boss. We take on the identity of everybody cheats. We take on, you know, and then it's like we continuously create this again and again in our lives. And oh my gosh, I took on that identity of everybody cheats, right? I was previously married, I'm I'm married now for a decade and my husband's amazing. Prior to this one, >> [laughter] >> the past one, I'll tell you, no, not so amazing. And my spouse would constantly cheat on me. And in this this life, I was just like, oh, everybody cheats. That's just how it is. And I would continue to accept this, right? And after that marriage ended, I would date and I would constantly have to say, ah, everybody cheats. There's no good, you know, people left out in their own world. Everybody cheats. And I would constantly attract the same partners again and again, right? It's like the same person but a different face. Again and again, again and again, same situation. Same different day, we say, you know? And it wasn't until I had this breakthrough moment. I was like, wait a second. What am I doing? >> [laughter] >> Wake up here, you know? I want something different for myself. So, I need to continue to take on the identity of understanding that there is people out there that want to have a monogamous life. There is people that want to create a, you know, two-parent household. There is people that want to create a family and what I deemed as my idea of what a fruitful family looked like. And guess what? It didn't take much until that I had that moment. I mean, I think from the moment I had that moment, I I remember it was around Thanksgiving and I ended up meeting my husband just before Valentine's Day, like the week before Valentine's Day. So, I don't know how long that was, but I had been single for almost a decade prior to that, right? Because I kept continuing to create the same thing again and again and again. So, I kept getting the same results again and again and again and again. It wasn't until I was able to shift that deeper thought that I had so I could create a new reality for myself. >> Mhm. >> [clears throat] >> What a great example. That's huge in the dating world, what people think or say about the other sex or about having relationship. I have seen that a lot. Even, and this just happened recently, somebody, I think cuz I went to my high school reunion and somebody was saying this and they're single. And they so adamant about not going on a dating app, and here's why. And they had a plethora of limitations. But I thought that was so strange because everything I know, personally and otherwise, people have great success on a dating app, and especially if they go into it with that mindset. This is like This is a conversation unto itself. This dating world, this relationship world. >> Absolutely. Absolutely. And you know, people come to me for lots of different reasons, but I'll say the two reasons that I've kind of seen the most people you know, clients all coming to me is for love and money. Those are the two things that people tend to struggle with the most. But probably love, money, and success is the third one. But, you know, it's something that we all want. We all want to be loved. We all want to be feeling like we're safe in a relationship. And I think that sometimes people can struggle with that because that's not what their internal dialogue is saying. You know, I I find this time and time again that we largely in women I work largely with women will come to me and say, "No, I I I don't believe that this is possible for me." They're Oh, there's pee in the dating pool. You know, >> [laughter] >> and so when I hear a lot, I'm just like, "Girl, you got to stop repeating this, right? Guess what? It's like you're continuing to pee in the dating pool when you're saying this, right? It's continuing to create this unhealthy environment of the people that you're attracting to you again and again. Versus if you shift that and you really understand what it is that you're looking for in the characteristics that you would love to have in somebody and being able to call that in, you're creating a new thought pattern for yourself. And that's what really changes your life. >> And is this what you mean in your work by the pattern beneath the pattern? Is that what you're talking about when something keeps returning, but sometimes in a different form? >> Exactly. Yes, that's exactly it. Because we can identify the external of it, right? We can start to see like, "Wait a second. This guy cheated on me, and the last guy cheated on me, and the last guy was kind of sneaky and probably was cheating on me, right?" We can see the pattern, but then we we see like, wait a second, what what's there? What do I have What's the deeper belief? What's that pattern of thought that I have within me, and how can I start to shift that? But it's not until we see the external pattern, what's going on externally in our life, that we can then look internally. Because it it it's connected, everything, you know? As above, so below. As external is internal. It's all connected, it's all a mirror. But it gives us kind of like a a cheat sheet as to where to look internally. >> Yeah, so what I hear you saying is that with your writing exercise the 24/7, that's handling the subconscious. And then the other piece, well, it was funny [clears throat] you call it a peeing pool. I never heard that before, but then that's our language. So our language actually is also influencing our experience, our manifestation. Um there are certain people uh who do sort of that old thing of like, oh, cancel, cancel, or don't say that, you'll create that. But I'd like to hear your take on us using our language in more modern terms. >> I completely agree that world words create our world. It is such a powerful idea, and sometimes it can even be thought to be so simplistic, but it's true. I actually just spoke last week at Nasdaq about this because it is so important and vital. Regardless of what your profession is, regardless of your you know, ideas about spirituality or not, you know, I'm speaking to business professionals, people that work in Nasdaq here, and it it's such a profound topic of how we speak, it really does impact our life. It impacts the way that people see us, it impacts what we're moving towards and what we're creating. And not only the words that we're using externally when we're talking to others and communicating with other people, but the words that we're using internally are so impactful, because those are the thoughts and the beliefs and the beliefs then dictate our actions. The actions then are our results, they show our results, you know? If you're ever questioning what is my internal voice, what are my internal thoughts, what are my how do I function internally, just look externally. What are your results externally? That's going to give you a clear idea of what your internal thoughts are. >> Yeah, that's so powerful. What else what about our nervous system? How does our nervous system interact with all of this weaving about what's happening in here and what gets created out here? >> Our nervous system is the communication pathway of our bodies, right? And like I was saying before, our mind, body, soul, it's all connected. It's all really in this one space. So, when we're thinking about the nerves that are happening in our body, it is so important that we are in control of it, that we're able to regulate our nervous system and that it's not going haywire. Our nervous system is in place to keep us safe. So, when we associate something familiar with safety, we tend to stay very very small, right? Because we might associate something that we've known again and again, that repetition, to feel safe. So, then we're caught in that same repetition. And breaking that repetition feels like unknown and it feels like risk. But when we're only able to do that, do are we able to break that cycle and to live a different life and a new life. Now, when we encounter something that is new and feels unfamiliar, if our nervous system is like, "Alarms, no, no, no, no, no." and we have this huge reaction to it, even if it's just internally happening, then automatically our energy is pushing it away. Versus if we're in the space of being able to open up and to accept and to for it to actually welcome it in, then we're able to hold space for this new experience to come into our life, this new up-leveling to actually happen. And that's where where things actually really, really start to shift people. That's where things really can shift for people when they actually start to understand that our nervous system plays a huge role in this. When we are regulated and we can then we we that what we're going after is for us, right? We're magnetizing it to us. That really changes our life. >> Yeah. Yeah, it's what you know, I left NASA 13 years ago and that was soul-killing for me to be there. It was not aligned with who I am. I desperately wanted to be an entrepreneur and I was already doing some of it on the side on my own time. But I that whole safety thing was so ingrained in me. Getting the vacation time, getting the insurance, knowing I had a 401k was so it was um like intoxicating for me. How could I leave that? I couldn't even fathom how do you leave that? I also didn't have much of a plan by the way. But ultimately I still did it. I just you know, it was too much soul-killing and I just had a jump. And when I jumped, it took time to find my footing. And I will say that without a doubt today and you know, for a while I have insurance. I take any trip I want. I make way more money than I ever made at NASA. And of course, you can imagine how my heart feels, how my mind feels, how it is being myself fully out in the world. I think that would if I hadn't done that, it wouldn't have it just would have been the hugest regret on my deathbed that I sort of wasted a life being somebody I wasn't, doing something I wasn't built for and not taking the chance. All because of the need to feel safe. Very much what you're talking about. >> Absolutely. You know, I I truly believe that good is the killer of great. When we have a good life, we don't really necessarily want to risk it for the possibility of something that's great. When we're in the space of struggle, I used to live in my car. I lived in my car, guess what? I would risk anything to get out of there, right? To change the way that my life was going. Because it wasn't good. But once you hit that space where you have a cushy job, everything's kind of paid for, you got that 401K, you got the insurance like you're saying. It's good. It's a good life. And it takes an exponentially larger amount of risk in that space to shift things dynamically, to step into the unknown. Cuz you're moving from known to unknown, from comfort to the possibility of discomfort. And it's in that leap of faith that we then have the potential to reach the great, that we then have the ability to feel aligned in our life as to what we're doing, to feel this fulfillment and the satisfaction, to know that in the last moments of our life we're going to feel like, "Okay, cool. This is awesome. I rocked this one out." And not having that sense of regret of what if. Right? >> No regrets, absolutely. And I'm curious how it is today and why manifestation is so important because we are living in a very interesting times. I think our timeline can go a couple of different ways. It is very clear the level of healing we need here on Earth, literally for the Earth and also for humanity, the way we behave, treat ourselves, treat other people. So it's a very interesting time. I personally see the collapse of things, but I also see a ton of people waking up, which I love. Why is manifesting and learning how to manifest so important right now? >> I think it's really important right now because we're creating our future. I think it's always been important, but more so now than ever because the only time we have is now. It is now that you can then create your life. It is now that you can experience the things. It is now that you can have everything that you've ever really truly wanted, that your heart desires. It's not later. There is no later, you know? It's like sometimes we get caught in the past and we're like, well, it didn't work. It didn't work these many times and we're continuing to stick to that story that we forget that we can then create our future, that we can then create something new for us. And as much as the things that we're impacted by in the world that's happening all around us, now is the time. Now is the time for us to be able to create these incredible communities. Now is the time for us to join forces with each other to create this sense of unity and to manifest a whole new world, a whole new existence for what's possible. >> Tell us, what can we do? Is there a practice? Is there a ritual for folks who are watching, who are listening today who say, "I'd like to do this. I'd like to rock this. I like what Latha's saying and I believe this is possible." Is there something outside of the 24/7 writing that they can begin right away as a ritual to start to turn things around energetically? >> Yeah, absolutely. I think the 24/7 manifestation method is very powerful. And like I said, I've seen it work across the board. So, I just want to put that out there. But otherwise, I would tell people to be aware of the things that trigger you. When you are going through the day and something pisses you off, something gets under your skin, something's kind of like on your mind again and again, be aware of it. And before you actually react to it, take a moment to really think about the situation and then respond to it. There's a big difference between reacting and responding and just in doing that, it starts to shift. It starts an awareness for you and as you start to see your life, and you might not understand what the next step is for you, we can very clearly see what you don't want to repeat again. Maybe you don't want to say the same words that you did. Maybe you don't want to have the same argument. Maybe you don't want to, you know, whatever the situation is. When you realize that what you experience is not what you no longer what you want, then you can create a new life for yourself and you start to make different choices, and that's where shifts start to happen. I would also really encourage people to look into shadow work and to see, you know, how you can kind of expand your own inner knowledge of knowing who you are. It's can be so profound, and it and it's really the way that I really approach shadow work is with gentleness and compassion and curiosity. And I find that when we do it in this manner, it is sustainable long-term. I have encountered people who do shadow work like it's a boxing match, and you're going at it. Not for me, and not for it's not sustainable. There's only so many rounds that you can box, right? But when you really approach it with compassion and curiosity, there is a longevity to it, and there's work that can be done over the years of your life, and there's really profound change that can happen. >> And is that something that you address in your book, how to do shadow work? >> Yeah, we definitely touch upon it. I also have another book that's based completely on shadow work. It's It's called The Shadow Work Journal of Self-Love, and I mean, that book has been very popular, and people might know it. It's gone viral a couple of times. It's been translated into eight different languages. It's available all across the world, you know, I get messages from people uh I've gotten messages in Mandarin, actually, that I I had to like Google Lens translate, cuz I'm like, I don't even know what these characters are, you know? And it's it's amazing to be able to do that because these words that I've created have gone, you know, to places that I may never from some village in in another part of the world that I may never, but it's impacted someone's life, you know? And to get messages like that is always so cool. But shadow work is so profound, and it can really start the the change that you want in your life. So, you can start this shifting, but that really starts with the acknowledgement that where you're at no longer works for you. And one of the things I also tell people is to really see it without judgement. It's not that where where at is bad. It's not that where you're at is good, but to really see it is it workable or not? And I And I approach life like that now. Any situation, I'm like, is this workable? Is this not workable? If I'm dealing with an employee, okay, whatever happened with this employee, is this a situation that is workable or unworkable? Does it work for me that this employee constantly comes in 15 minutes late? No, it is not workable in you know, in my life. Is this workable that my child is always having a tantrum when it's time to get ready for school? No, this is not workable. Okay, so then what needs to shift so to make it workable in my life, right? It's there's always something there, but when we approach it as good or bad, there's so much baggage that comes with it. There's so much emotional stuff that we drag into it and then it feels heavy. But when we just look at it, is this workable or not? Mm. No, it's not. Cool, what's the shift? We can then it's easier to kind of pivot in those those moments. >> Brilliant. Love that. How can people find you? What are you doing? How can they work with you? >> Yeah, come and find me on Instagram. I think that probably where I get the most messages and stuff. You can find me My username is Latha, that's l a t h a _ j a y and then another _ I am an active poster on Instagram. You can come and message me there and and have a lot of interaction. You can also find my website, which is lathaj.com. You can email me at hello@lathaj.com as well. I have some incredible programs like the one we were mentioning called Speak Her, which people can help to unlock and to find their voice not only on stage but in life. And also I I host retreats all around the world. People can help to go deep in the depths of of who they are and to understand what their purpose is. I have lots of online courses and offerings as well. Come and find me and let's have a chat. And also I want to encourage people to find my upcoming book. It's coming out on October 6th, 2026. You can pre-order it right now and I'll send you the the link, Debbie, for people to get some really incredible bonuses that come along with when you pre-order the book. It's called the 24/7 manifestation method and I love people to to pre-order it to get it, to be able to learn the depths of manifestation and how truly practical it can be and based in science. >> Mhm. Thank you so much. And here we are at the end. This is Dare to Dream. So, what are you next dare to dream? Goals, visions, what do you want to manifest? >> Oh, I have a lot in the works. I'll just say that. I have a lot in the works. Um next year I am actually dreaming up an event I'm hosting in Philadelphia. So, that's probably the next thing that I'm really like pouring into right now. >> Beautiful. Thank you so much for coming on the show. >> Thanks, Debbie. Thanks for having me. >> Yeah. And today I'm going to end with this thought that your problem is not proof that manifestation is failed. It may be the portal through which the version of you who can hold your dream is waiting to emerge. Until next time, keep your heart open, stay curious, trust what your soul already knows and is always dare to dream. Next week on the show, I am going to be featuring acupuncturist, spiritual teacher, and channeler, the amazing Tyler Ellison is back for, I think, the fourth time. And as you know, he really brings it. You will not want to miss it. And folks, go ahead and create big. Use her method and write in the comments how you're doing. I'd love to hear.
