Video summary
In this recap of *Lanterns* Episode 4, titled "The Weenie," hosts Lamont and Brandon analyze the episode's intense pacing and the evolving dynamic between John Stewart and Hal Jordan. They praise John's shift from a stoic figure to one displaying humor and confidence, particularly highlighting his dry wit at a pawn shop and his physical strength in lifting heavy weights. The discussion also covers Sinestro's manipulative tactics on planet OA, where he admits to fostering Hal's arrogance while hinting that John is his intended replacement, creating immediate tension between the two Lanterns. Additionally, the hosts critique the Guardians' controlling nature, noting how a Guardian named Lyanna warns John against visiting Sinestro, reinforcing the view of the Guardians as forces that prioritize obedience over critical thinking.
The episode introduces significant moral ambiguity and plot twists regarding the Manhunters and Zoe's apparent death. While Zoe seems to be killed by a satellite explosion after an encounter with John, the hosts theorize this was a misdirect, pointing out that John showed no shock, suggesting he suspected the truth beforehand. This mystery is partially unraveled when Hector, the Manhunter, reveals he cured Min's cancer and lied about Zoe being his nurse, complicating the villains' image as they appear to save people from disease while remaining antagonists. A major revelation occurs when it becomes clear that Zoe was actually a Manhunter who tricked everyone by exploiting their fears, a truth dramatically exposed during a car crash. The hosts also address nitpicks regarding John's limited use of his ring constructs, debating whether these restrictions were due to budgetary constraints or necessary for covert operations within the narrative.
The climax of the episode centers on an emotional breakdown for John Stewart after Hal Jordan reveals that his parents are still alive, causing John to panic before Hal stands firm on his instincts as a seasoned space cop. The tension escalates when John ejects from the vehicle to stop Hal from pursuing the Manhunter, leading to a heated argument where John admits he never trusted Anton and the other aliens because they are likely working alongside Sinestro. This confrontation sets up a looming conspiracy involving Sinestro, rogue Guardians, and the Manhunters, with the hosts anticipating a future team-up between Hal and John against these combined forces. The recap concludes with high expectations for Episode 5, where viewers can expect significant ring usage and intense conflict as the group hunts down the deceptive Manhunter, potentially involving a Red Lantern ring wielder connected to Sinestro's past.

Hey, what's going on everyone? We are
back, baby. Episode 4. It is me and
Lamont Lanterns. This is the weenie.
With the 48 hour deadline about to
expire, John develops a new theory about
the whereabouts of the cosmic hunter,
which leads him and how to present their
next plan to Sheriff Cain. Meanwhile,
Howal's visit to Sinestro has
consequences. Da da da. If you did not
know, this is going to contain spoilers.
Episode came out a few days ago. Lamont,
this was another great episode.
It It doesn't matter, you know, if I
wanted to rank the episodes, but this
one may be my favorite. It was really
intense. Uh, we got a lot of
personality, a lot of charisma from John
because I was calling him Captain Stoic
for the first three episodes and I
thought that that had to do with his
upbringing from his parents since they
were so difficult. But I really did
enjoy this episode. One being the acting
as well. I love the score. I mean, ooh,
when the these scenes when they were
screaming at each other and they had it
in the background complimenting bringing
the scene to life, I was like, "Yes."
It's like I want to jam this when I'm in
my car. I do have a few nitpicks though
as and it's just really one but a couple
it happened a couple of times in the
episode and it is the usage of the ring
or the lack thereof. I just don't
understand why they aren't doing certain
things especially not not only with my
small knowledge of the Green Lantern and
how they work from animated shows, the
comics, etc. But from what we saw in
Superman 2000 um with with Guy Gardner,
I hopefully you can correct me and shine
some light on it. But overall, man, it
was a fantastic episode. What are your
thoughts? Did you like it? Did you hate
it? Are you somewhere in between? Where
you at, sir? Where you at?
>> This is a great great show. Great change
of pace from some of the things HBO has
done in the past in terms of like their
tent pole event shows such as Game of
Thrones and House of the Dragon.
This has something for everybody. You
don't have to be a comic book fan to
really enjoy this show. It is so well
done, so written. This episode was
juicy. It was spicy. It was sweet. And I
loved it. The only thing I gota the only
jokes I really have is what do we say
about John Stewart's sexuality? Is he
alienite? Is he sleeping with a man?
What do we say about his sexuality?
Because my man done been banging some AI
booty a couple of times.
>> I don't know. I I don't know, Lamont. We
We may have to pump the brakes on there,
man. Because like this is a recap,
right? And it says that on the on the
thumb the title of this video. Lantern.
And so usually what that means is that
you're going to recap the events that
happened in the episode, correct? Is is
that okay? I just I just want to make
sure. I just want to check because I
don't I mean you just talked about the
sexuality. I don't know if we can talk
about that because the last episode or
you know when I was talking about sex,
you know, it offended people. You know,
one commenters was like, "Hey man, you
know this is you know I'm only 20
minutes in Brandon and and you're
talking about characters serving each
other up." You know, I I I I don't know.
I I I don't get it. I mean, in episode
one, characters are having sex. In
episode four, characters are having sex.
And mind you, these characters are
having sex are not married. Zoe, who we
definitely going to be talking about,
you know, she's married, so this is this
is infidelity. But when I talk about
sexual acts between a husband and a wife
who are supposed to have sex, it it just
I'm a sexist and I'm approved and I need
to grow. So, I I I don't know. I don't
know. And the show is TV MA. Hold on.
Let me let me make sure. Yes, it says
TVMA right here. A mature audience. But
I I don't I don't I don't know. Lamont.
May maybe you can teach me something.
You know, I I I just don't get it that,
you know, like the characters can have
sex in the show, but I can't talk about
it. You know, I maybe you can you can
shine. I'm I'm serious, but I'm joking.
But I'm joking, but I'm I'm serious. Um,
yeah. We g we we gonna we gonna come to
that though. Um, but but starting off
the I mean, hold on. Am I tripping? Am I
am I looking at this the wrong way? I'm
being genuine.
>> I know I said I was
>> just let it go.
>> You should just let it go because
nothing that you have said or done is
misogynistic. No one is going no one
who's been following you for so many
years is going to ever accuse you of
such things.
um whoever are making those accusations
are being a little sensitive because the
show includes sex. What we're not
supposed to talk about why are you
watching the show if you don't want sex
discussed?
>> I mean so yeah, you got to let that go,
man. Those are not criticisms in support
of your work.
>> You know, I I try to be myself, you
know. Uh I usually have my reviews,
recaps, etc. PG-13, but I try to match
the show. Like, if a show or a movie is
PG-13, I'm gonna keep my dialogue, my my
vernacular to PG-13, but if it's Reddit
R MA, you know, I'mma match that. They
they dropped about 20 fbombs in this
episode, so I may drop a fbomb in this.
You know what I'm saying? So, that's
just the way I I I look at things, you
know. Um, I I'm I'm being I'm I'm my
commentary there the last 60 seconds or
so was a mix between me actually being
genuine and sarcastic cuz uh I was very
confused by that. So, uh I'm not trying
to sound like an ass and at the same
time I understand that even if I've been
doing this for 20 years, every video I
produce is an introduction to somebody
else. So, I don't know. But I just kind
of had to uh address that. Um, but I
also let me ask you this. Um, I had a
nitpick because I said that episode 3
should have been episode 1 and there's
some people was like, I love the
placement of the episode and that's
fine. I mean, it still worked out, but
you know, from the end of episode two
where was visiting Sinestro on planet
OA, we're assuming, and then episode 3
jumps back to Jon's origin as a child.
And then we get to follow up with him
visiting Sinestro at the beginning of
this. I still feel like it would have
been better overall if it was all told
linear. But, you know, that's just my
two cents. Do you agree or disagree? Do
you like the placement of the episodes
the way they are, or do you think that
the end of episode two should have went
right into the events of episode 4 with
Howal visiting Sinestro?
And also, I'm sorry, also tell me your
commentary on that meeting at the very
beginning of this episode too, uh, with
Sinestro telling how that, hey, you got
to kill um, John Stewart, you know, do
you respect him? Um, you know, the
manipulation and, you know, Hal was Hal
is mad. Hal is clearly upset that uh,
Sinestro went to the dark side. Uh, you
know, he can tell by the way he's
talking to him. So yeah, if you can
break down all that and uh I I would
love to hear your thoughts, sir, cuz I
thought this was an amazing opening
scene to this episode.
>> It was it was a great opening scene.
They could have put they could have put
this scene anywhere after episode one
really. Um I'm I'm I'm fine with the way
the sequence went. I might would have
switched episode three and put it in
place of episode two, but other than
that, I've been perfectly fine with it.
I do like that they're having open with
Sinestro because that was his mentor,
>> right?
>> You know, he he he was one of the people
Hal looked up to. Absur is the one that
gave Hal the ring, but guess who taught
Sinestro? Absur, right? And so there's a
bond with those two and a level of
respect
be because that person was someone close
to both of them. And the fact that
Sinestro is basically telling how
they're going to replace you. The reason
I'm basically in here is because I
didn't want to do everything the
Guardians wanted me to do. And at the
moment, it seems like Sinestro has the
same goals as the Guardians, but he
wanted to take it more of a Malcolm X
approach versus the Martin Luther King.
He wanted to go by any means necessary,
even if I got to use the yellow fear
element. He even said a line of that,
you know, fear is one of the strongest
uh motivators in the world, blah blah
blah. And
you could tell that Hal was a little
rattled. And I like seeing Hal a little
rattled because he's oftentimes trying
to be the wise ass and seem like he's
all in control. He even said, "I'm
always right." Well, you won't right
this time or you wouldn't have went to
Sinestro for answers.
>> That's true.
>> And not only that, but you got answers
that you wasn't expecting to get. You
didn't go there to hear about John
Stewart. You went there to hear about
Manhunters.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and man,
that was a hell of a reveal uh at the
end of this. Who do you think is leaking
the information to Sinestro because it's
like, how the hell do you even know
about John Stewart? He was like, my, you
know, my trainee has a trainee, so don't
you think that information like that is
going to make its way back up to me? I
mean, cuz how many aliens are on planet
Earth right now that could, you know,
provide this information? Um, I have no
idea even with the episode ending with
the reveal that we're going to get to.
That does get me excited to, you know,
see how the rest of this season or this
new DC universe is going to unfold
because there has to be other players on
the earth that we are just not aware of
right now. And so um I I mean every as
any show each episode is peeling back a
layer, but this is just seems so in much
more interesting uh than the average cuz
I mean this is just like show is just
freaking fantastic, man. I'm I'm just
like at the edge of my seat,
>> you know, with with everything. And so
um I I I love it. I love it. And also we
find out that Hal is not an idiot. He
knows that he's not training just a
traininee or a backup. He's training his
replacement. And that could usually uh
throw a wrench in between Howal and
Jon's relationship. But it seems like
well until the the the actual end of
this episode cuz I think that episode 5
uh when Jon comes too, he needs to be
whooping How's ass for, you know,
running into that pole. But they really
did bond in this episode. uh which I
didn't expect because I I kind of just
thought it was going to go in a
completely opposite direction with the
way it started off with uh Sinestro
telling him that uh you know you need to
betray your um you know your your
counterpart you're a trainee and I also
like the fact that Sinestro was honest
just like hey he's like how was like hey
is this the you know you I'm sorry
Sinestro was like uh no how was like
does he listen to orders or no all he
does is follow orders. Sinestra was
like, "Well, he can be easily
controlled. You know, he's going to be
overly confident and arrogant and you
can manipulate him." And he said, "Is
that how you manipulated me?" He's like,
"No, no, no, sir. I kept it real from
Jump Street. I was always who I I was.
My ambition was to be a threat. You just
failed to see it." And that that I know
that hurt how's feelings as well. But I
still like the honesty right there. You
know, even though Sinestro is evil and
he's a bad guy, I still have a level of
respect for him because he's just being
so honest and upfront and transparent.
Uh that may change if we get into some
more backstory with him later on in the
season or future seasons in this new
universe. But um I'm I'm like I'm
Sinestro is coming through. He he's
coming through and I I feel like we
barely scratched the surface uh with his
character. So um you know within the
first five minutes I'm like hell yeah.
This right here is good. you know, uh,
[laughter] reminds me of the the black
guy from, uh, Coming to America when,
uh, they was at that that banquet. But
no, man, uh, right after that, we get
John going into like a a pawn shop store
trying to get a scope. And this is where
we get a little bit of his personality,
you know? He's like, "Hey, man. I need a
scope, you know, we it's a package deal.
Oh, all right. I I'll get the scope and
the gun." And as he's walking out, he's
like, "Okay, you guys are great." I was
laughing like, "Where is this
personality coming from?" Um, is that is
that working for you? Do you like the
personality, the charisma that we're
starting to see with John? He was on the
water tower as well, cracking jokes and
stuff like how how you feeling about
this this new uh face of John Stewart uh
that that we got to see in this episode
so far.
>> Yeah, I like it because it's not like
it's bust your gut humor. It's dry humor
and he's been dry for the most part. So,
I'm perfectly fine with it and I think
it fits and let's let's just keep this
thing 100 even though MAGA don't want to
hear it. That scene in that store was
clearly a tinge of racism. Simple and
plain. Just simple and plain. You could
have gave that man that scope and made
more money than making a man pay for the
whole gun
>> and then he grabbed that sandwich and
you know he's a vegan so he ain't going
to eat the meat. And I thought that was
pretty funny. kind of in your face and I
was waiting for one of them to do
something stupid and try to, you know,
pop him in the back of the head or
something, but we ain't getting none of
that kind of action. Maybe that's in the
outtakes. But I'm liking this. I'm
liking the way John is becoming. He's
starting to get a little confidence in
being a lantern. And um there's just
going to be more to come, folks. More to
come. This is one of the best Green
Lanterns that they ever had. It's one of
the best black comic heroes we've ever
seen. And the more they do with him, the
more I can't wait to see how they push
this character. DC might have found
their Black Panther.
>> Right on. They might have. They might
have. They might have. Now, if you go
over to Google real quick, I typed in
Well, we got John right here at the
Watchtower with the scope. And I a the
episode is titled The Weenie. And John
explained it, but I want to go even
further. A weenie is an architecture and
design in a prominent visual landmark or
structure intentionally placed to draw
people's attention and guide their
movements through a space. Of course,
they did reference Disney Walt Disney
idea. Walt Disney coined the term after
noticing how he could lead his family
dog lady around using a hot dog as a
treat. Applying it to design, he
realized that a large eye-catching
architectural structure could act the
same way, acting as a visual carrot on
his stick to coax visitors through the
theme park. And I like how they used it
as well. Um, also we got another joke
from uh John Stewart here uh when showed
up cuz he's like, "Wait a minute. You've
been to Disneyland?" He was like, "Oh,
no. I I've never been to Disneyland. Uh,
it's the happiest place on earth." And
they said they wouldn't let me in
because they said I would it would kill
the vibe. Um, I I laughed about that.
Uh, h [laughter]
how did you break down this scene right
here? And like what are your thoughts
and things that stood out? Cuz we also
going to get to my first nitpick after
you uh give your two cents.
>> Um, I thought the scene was okay. Um,
I just, you know, he was doing his
thing. Here comes Howal Jordan playing
his white ass right in front of his
scope when this man is doing everything
the hard way. And, you know, I just kind
of feel like
you. There's things you could have done
with that ring instead of having to use
the scope and all the planning they did,
but I think this scene was more so to
kind of go through the dialogue between
the two, break down the weenie, which
was the name of this episode, and I
thought it was I thought it was decent.
And then, of course, they had the little
joke in there about flying. Now,
normally when Green Lanterns fly people,
they don't let them get on their back
and none of that. So, they put them in a
little bubble and they fly with them.
Um, so I was wondering why couldn't we
had just got that? Like, you know, go
ahead.
>> That's my That's my nitpick right there.
I mean, I cuz I want cuz at first I was
like, man, they are really going out of
their way to save money by not using a
bunch of effects. But later on in the
episode, they did. And I'm just thinking
to myself, you don't need to carry John
like a baby to go over there. He doesn't
need to be in your back. you can just
fly over there and create a bubble and
and have John fly next to you and Jon
doesn't have to be in some compromising
beta position with his ass in the air,
you know, he can be standing like a
Power Ranger as he's so I didn't
understand that.
>> But also later on in the episode when
they um so I'm I'm we're going to be
jumping around because that's just the
way I want to do it right now. when the
satellite came down and supposedly or
allegedly killed Zoe. Um, they called
Sheriff they what's her name? Sheriff um
the the woman was it Carrie I forgot her
name. I had the
>> I had the freaking thing. Uh Sheriff
Carrie Kane they called her. John is uh
trying to figure out reverse engine
reverse engineer the satellite. They
said they're making uh that there was
these three companies. All of them had
NDA signed over 10 years ago. Two of
them was over 30 years ago. And they
linked up the slaughter houses to Hector
and said, "Okay, hey, this is where he's
at. This is not just a kill shot. You
know, this is an invitation. It's 95
miles away." They did say 95 miles. So,
I'm thinking, why are y'all driving at
least an hour and a half to this fac?
Well, I I mean um I I don't get it that
I mean maybe because you wanted to have
some dialogue in the show, but y'all can
have dialogue when you flying in the
sky. Like why what I mean and what am I
missing here? I don't understand why
they just want to fly over there. And
and same thing, this is my only nitpick.
It's just the the lack of the ring is um
when John when they figured out, okay,
we need to go to Min's facility and
>> Mhm.
>> uh before John was talking to the
Guardian,
uh he went and knocked on he was talking
to Hal and he said, "Okay, yeah, we got
to we got to go over there and talk to
him." And he said, "Look, I'm not trying
to tell you how to do your job. I'm sure
you just want to go over there with your
big green fist and smash things up. But
there's three watchtowers and they're
going to have some snipers and this time
they're going to aim for your head. This
doesn't make sense to me because yes,
they did shoot him in like episode one
or two in the shoulder which made him
end up in the hospital. But that's
because how was being cocky at the time
and he also did not have any power in
his ring. So you telling me that a Green
Lantern, somebody that can compete with
Superman, is not able to shield himself
from three men with a sniper rifle?
Going back to the Superman 2025 movie,
at the very end, God Gardner had his
ring and he was making constructs,
flipping tanks with the flip of flick of
a wrist. And so I'm ass
Gardner anyway. So, how can God Gardner
and Superman, you know, have be so
powerful and take out tanks and armies
and squadrons with such ease, but they
have to dig underground because they are
afraid of the three sniper rifles? Like,
I I just don't understand that. Um m
mind you, after the satellite k
allegedly killed Zoe, he put a whole
force field over the whole motel. when
they was in a slaughter house. He put a
whole force field up to stop the blood
from getting him, but they're afraid of
three,
you know. Yeah, they were trying to
sneak in there. But still, man, if I had
the powers of a Green Lantern, I
wouldn't give a damn. You can't do
nothing to me if I got a powered up
ring. I don't know. Am I missing
anything? Let me know, bro. I'm I'm
very, very curious.
>> Well, the fundamental is they're trying
to save money. That's the fundamental.
But the way they try to covertly do it
with TV is just try to make it seem as
though in that scene they wanted to do a
couple of things. Number one, they
wanted to show you just how powerful
John Stewart is going to be because of
his intricate detail and making
constructs. And then number two, they
wanted it to be covert. They didn't want
to start the fight
outside. And remember, the sheriff
pretty much told them, "Don't go in with
your fist." So, those are the plot
reasons why they did it, but the real
reason why they did it is the money.
>> I got you. I got you. Um, what do you
think about um what do you think about
the Guardian showing up in uh John's
hotel room? You know, first he's on the
phone with his mother, no, with his
father and he's like, "Hey man, you
know, they want to talk to you talking
about the Guardians. I'mma pat you
through on the cell phone." And and
then, you know, the guardian just ends
up teleporting there. They had a
conversation. And later on we find out
that was recorded. But she's like,
"Look, man. Uh, your boy John is
tripping. He's going against his oath.
He talking about he's smashing aliens in
space." No, he went to go see Stinestro
and that is problematic. He gives you
the ring. So once you get the ring, say
the oath, you will be the Green Lantern
of Sector 2814.
And John hesitated. What do you How do
you feel about this scene? How do you
feel about this exchange? Do you trust
the Guardians? Are they being
transparent enough? Are they holding
information back? Like, how are you
feeling about all that?
>> Oh, hell no. They ain't being
transparent. No, they want good little
soldiers.
They just want people that they can tell
what to do and they'll do it. Which is
one of the problems with people who have
ultimate power. They don't want any
critical thinking. They don't want you
to be able to think on your own. That's
one of the problems we have with a lot
of folks who vote in America and they
vote Republican. You just want to be
told what to do and the people who are
telling you what to do don't want you to
question them. And obviously Sinestro
introduced to us that the Guardians
can't really be trusted. That everything
that they do is not right. And obviously
she's doing to John Stewart what
Sinestro was doing to Hal. She's pitting
John against Hal. in essence telling
him, I want you to take out John Stewart
and take the ring. But I like the way
John Stewart handled this. John Stewart
is a even though he's he's a he's he's a
follower, he follows command and all
that. He obviously has a little respect
for Hal or he could have done it and he
didn't.
>> He could have done it. He did.
>> Yeah, he he could have. He could have.
Um he had kind of has every right to as
well. Um, but I I don't trust the
Guardians either. Uh, or maybe I don't
want to say the Guardians. I don't I
don't trust Lyanna. Um, you know,
because
I don't I don't know if the you know,
the Guardians ever defected like one of
them or two of them or all of them. Uh,
there's only 12 in the show. I think 11
are left, but I think in the comics of
the Lord there's like over 30 or
something like that. Um, but yeah, Le I
mean, all the Guardians may suck or it
may just be Lyanna. I don't know. We're
going to see. Uh, I I can't wait to find
out. I notice a lot of the times when
she's conversing, she she turns her face
away. She doesn't keep eye contact that
well or as much as I would like. And so,
um, I don't I don't I don't think we
can, uh, trust her at all. Uh, but we're
going to see. We're going to see. I
could be wrong. And also, another thing,
bro, I love doing these things with you
because, you know, to me, you will say
something that just seems cuckoo for
Cocoa Puffs and then you you'll always
end up right. We don't know this yet,
but you know, I thought you was like
like Lamont, Hal is clearly dead at the
end of the first episode. There's a
bullet in his head, you know, and there
was blood coming down, but as each
episode progresses on. I'm like, wait a
minute. He still, you know, it may be a
fake body, you know, it may be, you
know, rip out the heart is crystallized
or something like that. I don't know.
We're going to have to see. Uh, but I
just have to give you some some props,
some accolades right there. Uh, but
they're at the facility right now trying
to sneak into Mon's ranch, going up
underground. They're getting to know
each other. We already knew the house
father passed away. Uh, but this mother
passed away as well uh from cancer. And
uh Hal is dealing with it. He's just
saying that's it's best that way. You
know, people die. You have no
attachments. And so, you know, you have
these two uh teammates here. Hal doesn't
have any parents. Uh John does have both
of his parents. And it was one question
that how I asked that Mayhem lose his
concentration in the construct, you
know, almost went away. So again, I when
we started this recap, um I was saying
that they was really bonding um in this
episode. Here is a a good example of
that. And I love it. Um I do. I do. Uh I
don't think that they like each other
just yet, but I think that they do uh
respect each other. And um you know
that's just kind of fascinating to see
especially uh you know with one of being
black, one of them being white uh with
two completely different lifestyles. Um
I know some people going to get upset
about this but I don't care. You know
how it's it's privilege. That doesn't
mean that he did not have any struggles.
That just means that there was some
obstacles that he never had to worry
about uh growing up that John did. And
you know that's just uh that's just the
uh reality. You have any thoughts sir
about that and their their tunnel walk
their pillow tunnel walk talk?
I enjoy man. Look you know sometimes too
much exposition gets on my nerve. This
show has been spot on with the
exposition. I mean spot on. And I
enjoyed it because at some point in time
we need to see these two do more
bonding. And this was the episode that
we finally felt as though or seemed as
though they was getting on one accord,
then they going to ruin it at the end.
>> Yeah. Yeah, they really did. Uh Lamont,
you work out, man. Do you think you can
lift a uh 145? No, not 145. Um but 185
pound kettle bell,
>> you know, I knew we was going to talk
about that cuz John picked that up
and was moving around with it like he's
the winner of the CrossFit games. Yes, I
can pick up a 185 lb kettle bell just
like he did. But I do like that they
tried to show he got a little got a
little strength in them. I mean, a
little bit. And I'm not going to I'm not
going to sit here and say
>> 185 pounds ain't a lot of weight. You
know, there are
>> plenty of dudes who can't even do pick
up the 150s kettle bells. But I was glad
to show that, you know, John, you know,
he it's not just that he could pick it
up. The way he was handling it lets you
know that that boy got some shrimp.
>> Yeah. And I as soon as uh as soon as
house said he how much you weigh? 185
185 each. I'm like bro stop lying. You
know you well over 200 lb. You are not
no 185. My my goodness gracious. That's
that's silly. Uh right there. Uh y'all
let us know what y'all think about that.
How do you think about this facility
though, man? They had every rifle in in
America. They had every technology. They
had uh guns with goggles and and black
clouds that can that can dampen the
Green Lantern powers. Man, they they are
ready. Making is ready. He was like, "I
told you, man. I am not about to get
colonized. My benefactor has been taking
care of us." And while while I'm telling
this story, here's my penis. I want you
to draw me real quick. Oh, you got a
good memory. Won't you draw my wife,
too? I was like, "Oh, shit."
Awkward moment. Uh, break all that down,
man. And I I this is one of the scenes I
was really looking forward to talking to
you about. Go ahead. Go ahead.
>> Normally when we have these scenes, bro,
we like to talk about the panty draws,
not the Spider-Man under roots. This
done took off everything. He's
sitting up there. Well, what medium do
you like to use? You like Charles? What
do you
>> Bro,
>> now shout out to the actor. He's in
great shape. And as people in the gym,
we recognize the hard work that goes
into being in great shape. But bro, we
don't need to see all that shape naked.
>> You didn't need to have to force this
man to draw you naked because at the end
of the day, remember,
>> he didn't know your wife was married.
>> He didn't know. She didn't tell him. So,
you can't really blame it on him. And
the when she came in, I was wondering
how was she going to handle the
situation,
>> right?
>> And she played really, really cool,
really, really koi. And I'm thinking to
myself, I actually was thinking you you
felt more about John Stewart than what
you did. And I think me and you figured
out in episode two review we did. We've
been figured out she had a secret. We we
figured that out. She had a secret.
>> Yeah.
>> I don't know. I didn't Oh, my fault. Go
ahead. My fault.
>> I was thinking to myself, you know that
though when they had the ring, but you
do know that those rings, you can summon
them like Thor summons his hammer,
right? So, that was a nitpick of mine,
like, yeah, y'all, you know, just
because you put that ring on the table
does not mean he can't summon it.
>> And I actually thought that um they did
a good job of masquerading the power of
the ring by having it on John when they
came and apprehended them with the black
smoke because that wouldn't have been no
big deal for Hal Jordan.
>> That wouldn't have been no big deal.
>> I like put them in a bubble
>> and got on through it. But because John
is just getting familiar with it, it was
something he probably had to think about
and before he could think about it, they
broke his concentration.
>> Right. Right. Yeah. Of course, you know,
John is skillful, but you know, Hal does
have that experience um in in the field.
But what also stood out to me is the
reaction to everybody in this room. Um
Min, Will Min, he was not worried about
them at all. Uh, I mean, my goodness,
just to strip down naked like that and
be comfortable and just draw me, you
know, that just shows uh his level of
confidence. How was uncomfortable
looking at the naked man, but um John
was not. He was like, "Bro, be still,
bro. I'm trying to do a good job. Okay,
you asked me to draw you. Relax your
shoulder to sit down. Stop moving."
That's interesting.
But but we also got a little bit more of
how things have been going down in this
Rushville, Nebraska because uh Min says
that I had cancer. The benefactor or the
boss while they arguing over semantics
or the manhunter came in, cured him of
his cancer
and and lied at the time and said that
his wife Zoe was the nurse and she just
assisted. says that the crops were
growing. Nobody's in the hospital at
all. You know, he took care of us. And
I'm just like, okay, is the manhunter
good or bad? You know, they've been
painting him as the bad guy, but if
he's, you know, saving people from
cancer, like, what is the real end goal
here? You know, we know that that's
going to play into uh that's going to
pop off into um some big reveal um later
on as well. Um and they kept saying he
he he he. Do you have any other thoughts
there about, you know, how that played
out and what it could, you know, turn
into later on in the season or is this
just it right here?
>> Well, no. There's going to be some more
ties to this because you mentioned
something that a lot of people are
probably overlooking.
Who is the connection to Sinestro in
jail?
>> Yes. Now, the person the person or
persons that I think are the group
connected to Sinestro are the folks
trying to track down this manhunter
because they are going about this by any
means necessary and they've got
technology to kind of handle the
business. So, I think that they're
probably the ones getting information to
Sinestro. Sinestro's, you know, back and
forth with them. And one of those
individuals that's threatening to blow
up the manhunter winds up becoming a
lantern in a red ring.
>> And him and Sinestro was buddies at one
point in time. So I believe that's who's
pumping information back to Sinestro.
And when ultimately the showdown comes,
if it seems as though they couldn't
handle the threat, those two are
probably going to team up and that's
when you're going to see some more
Lanners pop on the scene of different
>> and it could be atrocities. Uh I know
there's been a lot of speculation there.
>> Um and also the last two episodes the
the title card was not green when it
said Landers. It was yellow. And I never
I don't I don't see anybody else talking
about that. So, um, that's quite
interesting as well cuz I don't I don't
like to watch other people's reviews or
reactions before I give mine because you
can subconsciously kind of talk like
mimic what they say. Um, you know, so I
try I try not to do that. Uh, but I I
did dip into uh some other a couple of
other recaps. Uh, you know, just cuz
it's just such an entertaining show, you
know. But they leave uh Miss uh uh
Sheriff uh Carrie Kane, she comes and
saves day. She's pissed off like, "Y'all
need to stay your asses here. I will
tell you what to do." She gives John a
shotgun. That's some true trust right
there. Hey, I'm I'm going to give you my
the biggest gun I have in the truck. How
you don't need one, you know, cuz you're
a superhero. Y'all need to chill out,
okay? Y'all doing too much. And then
guess who pops up? Miss Zoe. Miss Zoe.
Miss Zoe. Miss Zoe. And she doesn't want
to just talk. She wants to do something
else. Um,
I don't like this relationship between
them. One, because she's married. Two,
because I I I mean, I don't want to
sound like a hater, but I just think
they could have did a much better job.
If John is going to have a love
interest,
I I just think they could have been more
realistic. You know, it be it'd be
different if it was just kind of wham
bam, thank you, ma'am. But he apparently
really likes her. Am I tripping or or
how you feeling about all that? And they
Yes, they had sex.
>> Yeah, I don't think he really liked her.
I just think he likes having sex with
it. I mean, if you are an if you are a
robot and you're designed to please and
comfort, you know, whatever your I don't
want to just say humans because they've
done other aliens, too. If you are
designed to do that, that experience is
going to probably be the most out of
this world figuratively and literally
experience of sex you're going to have.
So, I don't think he was in love with
her. He didn't even Well, I ain't going
to say that yet, but I don't think he's
in love with her. I think he's in love
with the sex. And she basically told him
it's okay because my husband knows I'm
doing this. um that still don't mean
it's okay, you know, really on his end.
But if a spouse says, "My husband knows,
he's okay with it, and you just went to
the spouse. He didn't tell you no. He
just made you draw his penis.
I mean, what is he supposed to do?" Um,
you know, and you've been dealing with
Howal Jordan. You need to get your rocks
on, bro. You need to get some stress out
of there. But at the same time, at the
same time, I think John was playing the
intel game, too,
>> you know, cuz he put a little in her
tail
>> and he get some intel.
>> So, I think that's a little bit of what
he was doing on top of getting his rocks
off and she was trying to do the same
thing. And that dialogue they had while
in bed about he don't trust nobody, not
even her, spot on, man. That's exactly
what a woman want to hear after you done
got her petty draws.
>> Are you being sarcastic or for real?
>> Very sarcastic. No woman wants to hear
you don't trust me.
>> Okay. Okay. Yeah. Okay. [laughter]
>> After a woman, unless she's doing it for
money or for a gain, and that's what Zoe
is doing it for. No woman wants to hear
after that moment of vulnerability, you
don't trust me.
>> Right. Right. Right. Yeah, man. So, she
she pulled up, man. did her thing and
she dipped like, "All right, I'm not
going to spend a night, you know, I just
I just want a little something real
quick." And she goes outside and we
think that she blows up. One of them of
my favorite scenes is how just fast it
happened. Howal comes outside. Where did
it come from? 45 degree
just point and then he just flew up. I
was like, "Oh, this this this is nice.
This is nice. I like it. I like the the
the sense of urgency here, man." And
then he comes down uh with this
satellite right here. this badass all
around. Uh, I love it. I love also also
right after that they got he got the
whole force field over the over the
whole motel complex. I'm like, yes.
>> Excuse me. I'm sorry. This is the this
is the usage of the ring that makes
sense and that I want to see, you know,
uh, full powered up. And so, I'm I'm
loving all this right here. I mean, it's
making a whole bunch of sense. And so,
uh, what was your thoughts when you saw
Zoe blow up?
I was thinking to myself, man, that was
staged. I knew it. Like, yeah, there's
no way that she's blown up. And and the
fact that they let that happened to her
was the the was the answer for me
because, you know, I already had my
suspicions about who she really was
anyway.
>> And when that happened, just after she
came and gave up the the the draws to
John, I said to myself, this is a
complete misdirect.
the husband would not dare blow her up.
Either they figured out she's the thing
and they got her for real or she escaped
and it wind up being the latter.
>> Right. Right. Right. Right. Right.
Right. Yeah, man. Um I thought she was
actually dead. Um I was like, man,
that's kind of easy, but um and John's
reaction was quite interesting around
that, too, cuz I was like, why are you
not like you're not shocked? You're not
like, "Oh my god." You're not like
running over there trying to see if
>> you know there's a body, even though it
was an explosion. So, but I I mean,
honestly, I mean, I was suspicious, but
I still wasn't able to put it together
um until the end of the episode. And
even when they're in the motel, I like
the detective work like, "Wait a minute,
man. Do you think that we can just solve
the case this easy in a motel room? You
know, this is an invitation." So, I like
that. Now, we already talked about them
driving there, which was stupid and and
didn't make sense. They could have flown
over there. Um,
>> I know, man. They killing me with that.
>> Yeah, but they but they show up to the
Oh, and I I got to touch on this, too,
just more on John's personality. Sorry.
after he got done talking to the
guardian in the hotel room when she was
like, "Hey, uh, Hal has been giving
reports about you saying that you lack
creativity, but then when he showed up
to John's motel door and gave him the
drawing of the drill, he was like, "Oh,
you just drew this real quick." He was
like, "Yeah, I'm creative." That little
jab in his face right there, I I did
laugh. I liked his personality. But
[clears throat] anyway, they they show
up to the slaughter house, man, and
these workers are being weird. They
like, "Hey, man. I got to, you know, I
got kids to feed at home. I can't be
messing with nobody. I got to mess up
these cows. But when they get into the
room where the cow is destroyed, you
notice that the cow came through in that
black portal on the wall that expanded
like some clay. That was the same piece
of technology that I think was in
episode one or two where John jumped,
no, episode two where John jumped
through the floor and fell on the
mattresses through the mall. And so what
how do you think those two are linked?
cuz one of the guardians was using it
and then and then uh Hector or at one of
Makin's slaughter houses they was using
that too. Like what? And also laughed
about the joke that John made like, "Oh,
that's why I'm vegan." But h how do you
feel those things are connected? Because
it did seem like it was the same
technology.
Oh, it's definitely the same technology
and they are interconnected, but you got
to keep in mind the Manhunters were
created by the Guardians and a lot of
the technology that the Guardians had,
the Manhunters have. Now, it's just a
matter of do we have a rogue guardian
secretly working with a manhunter. I
could see them twisting that story like
that because we've had rogue guardians
in the past that hated the manhunters,
tried to destroy the manhunters. Then
we've had rogue guardians go off and try
to use utilize other lanterns to do the
same job but wind up becoming evil. So
it it crosses those bounds and I just
wonder will they meet in the middle and
it be a rogue lantern working with this
rogue manhunter.
>> Right on. Uh we we'll see. We'll see.
Y'all let us know of course what y'all
think in that comment section. But
Lamont, this is my favorite scene in the
whole episode right here. This was
intense because I was nervous.
>> I was nervous because, you know, you got
you got a marine and a lantern walking
in unscathed and then you got this nerdy
poexter looking character right here
with so much confidence just going away
on his computer. Haha, here's the code.
Up, down, up, like refight babba. Yes,
your address. This is your your parents
address. Uh yeah, I'm going they're
going to be blown up in 3 minutes.
You're already seeing what I'm capable
of. And he was just so sure of himself.
Like I I got this in the bag. If y'all
don't do what I'm going what I'm saying,
you know, you're all going to die. But
then how just didn't give a crap either.
He was just like, I think you're crap. I
think you're BS. I think you're uh a
decoy. And just the dialogue going back
and forth and the music, the score. And
then he's like, "There's like 60 seconds
left or something like that or his
parents are going to die." And he said,
"You know what? I'm fine with that right
there." You know, uh it it wasn't an
issue. But after I heard the recording
of John talking crap about me, you know,
hey, f his parents, they do need to die
cuz that's what he gets. And also, I
think a hero's journey begins when a
parent dies anyway cuz that's a lot of
motivation. I thought about Batman as
well because that's how his parents I
was like, "Oh my gosh." Like, you know,
you're right. This is crazy. And then uh
uh John uh believed him like, "Bro, what
the f are you doing?" You know, if you
don't tell me this in 10 seconds, I'mma
kill you. F the clock over there. And
then John is screaming at him like, "How
stop." I was like, "Stop. Stop." And
like every everybody is so serious. John
is serious uh telling him to stop. How
is trying to stand his ground? Hector's
trying to stand his ground. I'm like,
"Oh my gosh, how is this going to play
out? I don't know." And it it was it was
incredible. Favorite scene of the whole
episode. How you feeling about it, man?
Do Do you Oh, not only that, as soon as
he put the code in,
John is like, "Hey, what if he was
wrong?" He's like, "Man, I'm never
wrong. My instinct is right." He took a
deep breath. All right. Okay. Who are
you? Speak. And slammed his head on the
table. I was like, "Oh shit." This is
the most emotion, the biggest reaction
we have seen from John this whole
series. This is fantastic. I loved it.
How you feeling about it, man? How you
feeling?
>> I loved it, man. I was right there with
you. It was very intense. Um,
I like the acting from everybody in the
room and I love how Hal just put his
foot down and they always go back to
show you that even though they they bent
him a little bit to have us thinking,
should we second guess Howal,
>> Hal really knows what he's doing. He's
been on this he's he's been the space
cop on the beat for so many years. His
gut is usually right. And this was
another instance of that and I was glad
to see it.
>> Yeah, I was too, man. I I was too. And
they uh they was getting their bonding
on at the end uh while they was riding
the car. Um I liked how everything came
out because it's like, "Wait a minute. I
I had to put my my I had to think about
this, John. You got real freaked out
when you thought your parents was going
to die, but you did not get freaked out
when you thought Zoe died. You You don't
think that she's dead. You think that
she's alive. And I trusted you. I
forgave you, but why aren't you telling
me? and are you communicating with the
guardians? He was like, "Well, I thought
so, but I wasn't sure and I didn't want
to say anything and jump to
conclusions." And he says that the
guardians, not the guardians, but the
the uh the benefactor or the manhunter
comes in and exploits people's
weaknesses. Can you think of anybody
that has done that to you? We know that
he was talking about Zoe and we know
that John was thinking about Zoe, but he
still lied and said making cuz he just
wasn't sure. And um I I I like how that
came out like no it's not Will, it's
it's Zoe over here. She is the she's the
manhunter. Um you know, she kind of
tricked us all. We we kind of figured it
out. Um but then he smashes into the the
telephone pole. Uh what are your
thoughts there and how everything was
revealed and and came out um you know to
reveal itself. What are your thoughts?
>> Amazing way to do it. And and then after
it seemed like it was a kumbaya moment.
He was basically like f you negro and
jumps out the car
>> because he doesn't want him to follow.
He wants to slow him down from being
able to pursue what he's about to do. I
just like man wow. Like, and I'm with Be
Avery audience.
When John Stewart get his stuff back
together, it should be a ass whipping
coming to Hal. He should take that ring
right off of him and beat him with his
own damn ring.
>> Yeah,
>> that was I mean, come on, man. You can
do better than that. Like, stop all this
hazing hard le bull drive when I just
told you I could have took the ring from
you if I wanted to and I didn't. That
should give you a whole lot of grace,
but it didn't.
>> Yeah. Yeah. He definitely needs his ass
whooped. I still don't fully understand
like what he was trying to accomplish
with that other than being a dick. Uh
but I would love everyone's two cents.
Also, in the car, he called Anton and
was like, "Hey, man. We figured out who
the man hunter is. You know, meet us
outside the cafe. Uh it's going down."
And you know, they probably had 30
hours, 24 hours left. And so I I can't
wait to episode five, man. And do do you
trust Anton and the other aliens that
are actually looking for the the
manhunter? How do you feel about them?
Cuz we just heard them on the phone.
>> Uh I do I do believe that they want the
manhunter, but I don't fully trust
everything they up to. No. Um and like I
said, I think they in cahoots with
Sinestro. So no, I don't trust them. And
that's one of the points of why did what
he did. So there's, you know, he's going
to go and wind up meeting um that group
of that group of manhunter searchers and
John Stewart is not going to be there.
And that was one of the points of what
how why did what he did. So it's about
to be it's we about to get into some a
lot of ring use coming up my brother. So
just batten down the hatches.
>> Yeah man. Batten down the mother
freaking hatches. Uh Lamont, are those
your final thoughts sir?
