LANTERNS Episode 2 Reaction & Review | SINIESTRO IS HERE! THE MANHUNTERS ARE ALIVE?!

For those that are interested, this is actually the third time that I've tried to record this video with all the technical difficulties I've had, but I'm not giving up. I'm trying to stay positive. What's going on everyone? It is B Avery here and we are back for Lanterns. This is episode two titled Trust Fall. While Jon's middling Aaron ultimately proves Eventful, Howal makes waves in Rushville, which only inspires him to dig deeper. This was another great episode, guys. If it wasn't obvious, this is going to contain spoilers. So, if you haven't seen the episode, which I'm sure you have, turn away. I just wanted to make sure. But, like I said, another great episode. But I am quite confused on the way that they're handling things. And what I mean by that is how faithful this is to the source material, to the lore, to the Green Lantern comic. First of all, this show isn't even called Green Lanterns. It's called Lanters, but that's not a big deal. My main thing is how Jordan constantly passing the ring around as if it's just a deck of playing cards or I don't know. I can't think of anything that quickly. But for me, I would want to keep the ring on my finger at all times because in the event that you don't have it, you could die. Later on in the episode, he was shot in the shoulder. little too big for his britches and I thinks he deserves it. But I was saying to myself, how why are you walking around without your ring? Why are you so conveniently passing it on to John Stewart or whoever else? Yes, I know you are a worldwide hero, but I'm pretty sure everyone doesn't like you. Everyone doesn't like Superman. Everyone doesn't like Batman. I'm sure there's somebody in the world that doesn't like you, that is evil, and if they had the opportunity, they will take you out like a sniper or something like that. And if you don't have your ring, you're gone. And we know that can happen because you ended up in the hospital with a sling on your arm and or your shoulder. So that's just really interesting to me. And I still can't get over the fact that the guardians are the ones that choose the next ring bearer instead of the rings themselves. For all of my experts out there, if I am incorrect, please let me know. I'm very, very curious. But while I am loving the show, Hal is getting on my nerve. I don't understand why he is giving John such a hard time. Like, why did you have to wake him up in his motel in bed with a bucket of water? You just ruined his sleep. You just ruined a mattress. Like, why? Just go over there and wake him up. Like, he seems like a good humble student, a good humble trainee. Just teach him. All right. Now, we're going to learn how to fly. Okay, fly, please. I don't I don't get it. Like, why why are you being an Like, are you jaded? What's going on? Is this a thankless job? I know you've been doing this since the 80s and you don't get that much appreciation. Well, you should have quit a long time ago. But I don't get it. Now, as far as John trying to do like this and fly, I did get a chuckle out of that. I also did like the CGI with the bird that he did construct. I thought that was pretty cool, too. And the fact that he was able to keep this construction for pretty much whole episode just kind of shows how skilled he is and is the right man for the job. Now, I like John. I like Howal, but at the same time, I don't like how he's getting on my nerves. But if I'm wrong and incorrect in any of that assessment, please let me know. Now, I did get a lot of comedy out of this episode, too, with how going around town trying to figure out where all the town's people are because with the last episode, if there's an alien that blows up, not just blows up, but blows up in a police station, that's going to raise some concern. People are going to be like, "Okay, what the hell is going on?" So, I'm thinking the episode should have just started off like that. Like, what the hell? We got people getting shot in football fields on Friday night games. We got aliens blowing up police stations. What are we going to do? I thought this I just want to hear this on CNN. I don't want it up close in my backyard. So, the fact that they were in this town hall makes a ton of sense to me. I mean, I that that's realistic to me. I really am getting a kick out of this actress, Miss Kelly McDonald. And I feel silly. She's very very popular. Uh, she was in No Country for Old Men. I did see that. And I just I mean, I guess it was 19 years ago, so I'm not really mad at myself for not remembering too well, but also was in Brave. But I like her character. She's just like, "Look, it will take as long as it takes. I got about 30 seconds left of patience. If you two honey husband, if you and uh hy are going to keep on talking, I'm going to have to have leave." I understand he knows the threat more than anybody. No one would have thought to take alien bodies and pull them through an alien metal detector of sorts. So, I kind of get where he's coming from, but at the same time, how is rough around the edges? I mean, read the room. If you wanted to get that point across to the sheriff, to Miss Sheriff Kelly, there would have been many other easier ways to do so than disrupting the meeting. But, you know, Hal is how, you know, he's an old man apparently just doesn't give a damn. He just doesn't care. And so, I I I mean, I like the fact that he doesn't care, but at the same time, I'm just like, bro, all of this is so unnecessary. Stop it. Another reason why it bugs me that he's taking off the ring so much is when he was transferring the or transporting the alien bodies. If his ring would have been charged, he could have easily done that. He could have just flew and lifted the bodies with his ring, it would have been as easy as me lifting my phone and walking from one room to another. Well, not that easy. I mean, lifting bodies, but at the same time, he got powers as a ring. You know what I'm saying? And so, I just don't understand that. I'm just saying, bro, why don't you have your ring charged all the time? Like, I I mean, again, I know he's been doing this for decades. He probably don't give a damn no more. And maybe everything I'm saying now, he did the first 5, 10, or 15 years of his life, but why don't you have that lantern like around you all the time, you know? Now, it was cool at the end when he was like, "In brightest day and darkest night, all I even shall escape my sight in and Charles the ring." I loved all that. I would have I would have appreciated a big kind of like whoosh or power up or some nice sound effect. I don't know why they're trying to ground this show so much. I mean, the John not the John, but the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie that wasn't that great. That was 15 years ago in like 2011. So, people forgot you don't have to detract away from that completely. Bring some of that CD over here. So, that was kind of cool. But the ring could have saved him from getting shot. It could have saved him for when he before he went into the town hall meeting and tried to fly up in the air to see what was going on, his ring died and he fell to the ground and it also could have helped him out with the bodies. So, I just don't understand why Hal is just working so hard. It does not make sense to me. And again, now I will say it was pretty cool that he had the Green Lantern in that pocket dimension in that safe. I want to know from you guys. Is that pocket dimension only in that area and that box around it is containing it? Or can how take that whole box suitcase and carry the pocket dimension with him? I'm very very curious. It would be interesting if it was the former to where it could only be in that location and that box has to stay there. But at the same time, that wouldn't make any sense either because that would have to mean that not the realtor, but I can't think of the the word the for people that build houses, they would have had to build a house around the pocket dimension, you know? So, that that's probably not the case. So, he can probably carry it around, but that was still cool. We got a good te tease of that in the Superman movie that came out last year in 2025. But Lex Luthther had the whole gang in there. He had a everybody in there, like 500,000 people, you know, and this is just a little pocket. So that's cool, too. Now, as far as the action is concerned, I do like that John got beat up outside the house house. He was in the truck, fought his way out. Only thing I'm like, John, you need to run to the side, my my guy. Okay, what are you doing? Don't run down the middle of the highway like this. You got caught again. Now, I do love this scene because John is strong. He been strong and fearless his whole life. And it showed in this scene right here when he was being interrogated and or tortured in a way tied up to the chair. I love this whole scene of exposition. I love the score. I love the score for the whole show and all episodes, but this particular scene and episode, the score was great. And I forgot the actor's name that was doing all the deliberation. He's been in a ton of things, but I really do like him. I think they said his name was Whan, but I could be incorrect. Like I said, that whole exposition was great. But John was not showing any fear at all. Like my goodness, he was so stoic. And you can only do so much when you're tied up to a chair surrounded by all these men. And he wasn't begging. He wasn't pleading. He wasn't crying. He wasn't like, "Please let me go." He just stood his ground and like, you know, they forced that stuff in his head. Talking about the manhunters. Who are the manhunters? These synthetic beings that came here a long time ago. When Jon and How were comparing notes later on in the episode, he was like, "hm, I guess Abinsur brought him here." and the lantern or not uh the manhunter killed him. And I just got to know what they are doing on Earth in Rushville. What is going on? What is the plan? How does Min or Mackin, the guy on the I'm probably showing you a picture right now of him on his horse. How does he know about him? How does he have technology that can detect when they are present, when they're around? Who is his employer? because he's pretty powerful himself. You know, he got Sheriff Kelly or Kerry like, "Okay, he can shoot you. You on his property. This dude got militia, people in watchtowers." I mean, the guy got resources. So, he's pretty powerful and he answers to somebody else and we haven't had heard that name yet. I don't know who he could be. And I am somewhat familiar with the comics and I can't think of, okay, who could he be working for? Lex Luthther as well, maybe. I don't know. But I'm just thinking like where could you get where could he have gotten that technology? And at the same time, I don't think we can trust him. He's worried about being colonized. But I I like how reserved he is. He was like, you know, I asked you to see if there was aliens. You did the job. Why are you still lingering around? I need a moment of your time. Oh, you've had a moment of your time. He lets the guy know, hey, 11:00. Hey, I just want to let you He He didn't say nothing while H was over there running his mouth and all of that. I just want to let you know, man. My guy over there got instructions to shoot anybody trespassing. How talking He got shot in the shoulder, which I said earlier. So, I can't get mad at him for that. I I really can't. I I really do like his character. But who are the manhunters? Now, I also want to discuss the suit real quick. One thing I do like about the 2011 movie is the Green Lantern suit was conjured up through thought like a construct. I kind of wish that was the same with this show here. The suit looks cool. I do like it, but it's kind of difficult for me to wrap my head around that you have to put the suit on when you have a powerful ring like this. If it's Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, or somebody else, okay, I can understand that. But you have powers. You can create anything you want from thought. So, the I just think that would just much cooler if you can conjure a suit with the ring from Thought, but they didn't want to go that direction. I The suit still looks good to me. I like how John revered it, the respect he gave it, but that's just a little weird. What do y'all agree or disagree? I don't think Jon is also going to turn bad after he saw what the man hunters did to that race since they threw a bunch of species away. I don't know if Howal has that knowledge as well. But the device they used seems very scary as hell. I wonder if we're ever going to see some visions of what John saw when it was implant imprinting those images in his head. But how seems like he wants to take a lot of things seriously now. He puts on the suit. He flies off planet throughout the solar system or maybe on some other side of the galaxy. I don't know how fast Green Lanterns can fly. Maybe the speed of light. I'm going to have to look that up. But he sees Sinestro. I like that Sinestro is humanoid. I mean, he's always been, but he just looks human with a pink face. But how does Sinestro know who Jon Stewart is? I wonder how long Sinestro has been locked up as well. And for Sinestro to say, "Hey, if a manhunter still exists, he is the second largest threat you've ever faced." Damn. How many I want to know who Howal has faced before and who's number one? I'm curious. At one point in time, is Sinestro or is Howal going to let Sinestro out of jail so he can help? Now for y'all that don't know who Sinestra is, he was a Green Lantern but turned evil to the dark side into the yellow lantern core who get their inspiration from fear. So green the green lanterns is will the yellow lanterns is fear. The blue lanterns is hope. I think the red lanterns is like anger and aggression. Black lanterns I think is death and the white lanterns I think is light or life. I can't remember. But yeah, y'all let me know what y'all think about Sinestro. This was just a little short reaction review or um I'm maybe doing a recap later uh with Lamman sometime this week, but we've been having a ton of technical difficulties. Our schedules don't align the best sometimes. And even when I tried to record this earlier today by myself, I was having technical recorded the first half of the audio but not the second half. So hopefully this works. I appreciate you guys patience. But guys, that is my recap, reaction, review, whatever you want to call it, for Lanterns episode 2.
