Hi, my name is Ajan and I'm part of the
great FO team in Kyrgyzstan. Look
around. Our country is full of
incredible mountains, forests, and
pastures. But have you ever wondered how
we can protect them while also helping
people grow food? Sometimes an
innovation can fit right in your hand.
These are seed balls. Inside each little
ball is a seed protected by soil, clay,
and natural nutrients. We use them to
help plants and trees grow in dry and
hard to reach places. Small ball, big
job. And what if we could store winter
water for summer? In some mountain
communities, water is sprayed into the
cold air and freezes, creating an
artificial glacier. As the weather
warms, the ice melts and providing water
for crops and animals. It's like a giant
mountain water bottle.
But innovation is not always something
brand new. Pasturies have understood
this mountains for generations. They
know when animals should move, where
grass needs time to recover and how to
care for the land. At the summer school
of young pastor, young people share this
traditional knowledge and explore modern
tools including GPS, mobile apps, and
drones.
