Video summary
The video provides a comprehensive review of Koimala Beach Ukulhas Maldives Budget Guest House in Koy Malal, highlighting its unique identity as a converted local house designed to offer an authentic Maldivian experience. The guesthouse pays homage to the history of the region by deriving its name from King Koy Malal, who was the first known king of the Maldives and originally hailed from India. This historical connection is central to their mission of delivering meaningful stays that blend traditional culture with modern hospitality needs for travelers seeking a genuine local atmosphere rather than just another standard resort stay.
Guests are welcomed with detailed information about dining options, which include eight distinct types of breakfast served between 7:00 and 10:00 AM featuring both international favorites like pancakes and French toast alongside traditional Maldivian dishes such as Mas Huni (tuna sambol) and various curries. Dinner is also included in the reservation price, offering a flexible menu where guests can choose from salads, soups, main courses, grilled items, wok specialties like fried rice or noodles, and desserts. The establishment emphasizes sustainability by providing water refill stations instead of single-use plastic bottles and stocking mini-bars with drinks that guests are encouraged to purchase as needed, reflecting an eco-conscious approach common in the Maldives.
The property features a thoughtfully designed layout that includes separate areas for dining and lounging, complete with traditional Maldivian seating like swings and lazy chairs found on outdoor patios. Each room is equipped with essential amenities such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, television, hot and cold showers, and a mini-bar, while the bathroom design allows guests to view the outdoors through open windows. Practical considerations for visitors are addressed throughout the tour, including instructions on removing shoes upon entry due to indoor slippers being worn outside, storage solutions like shoe racks and hanging spaces in rooms, and specific features of the washroom which includes toiletries but no television inside the bathroom itself.
The review concludes with an overview of available activities centered around marine life encounters, particularly whale shark diving near Dharuvaraa in North Ari Atoll and manta ray sightings within the local lagoon. The staff offers options for single-day excursions or combined trips to see multiple attractions like sharks and mantas simultaneously, providing a map that illustrates these locations relative to the guesthouse's position south of Guraidhoo. Overall, the video portrays Koimala Beach Ukulhas as an inviting budget-friendly accommodation that successfully balances cultural authenticity with comfortable facilities for tourists exploring the northern atolls of the Maldives.
