Khalifa Trailer - Prithviraj Sukumaran | Vysakh | Jinu V Abhraham | REACTION!!
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The video features a reaction and discussion surrounding the new trailer for the film "Khalifa," starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. The hosts analyze the trailer's visual style, noting that the color grading is top-notch and the action sequences appear believable rather than relying on gratuitous CGI just for coolness. However, they express concern that the narrative seems overly familiar to audiences of Indian cinema, centering heavily on themes of revenge and gold smuggling which have been seen countless times before. While the trailer successfully showcases Prithviraj as a "badass" character capable of delivering emotional moments, the hosts feel the story lacks sufficient complexity to stand out from the genre's tropes, leading them to admit that despite the good visuals, they do not feel compelled to watch the full movie yet.
Beyond the main film discussion, the conversation shifts to various pop culture topics and personal anecdotes shared by the host, Rick. He pays tribute to the late baseball legend Tommy John, explaining the significance of the surgery named after him that has saved countless pitchers' careers, before expressing shock over the recent passing of Hayden Panettiere. The dialogue also touches on the movie "Flip Wilson's Magic Ride," with the hosts joking about a character name change from Khalifa to "Whiz Khalifa" and debating whether the film is a comedy worth paying for. These segments provide a mix of serious tributes, lighthearted banter, and commentary on current entertainment news, illustrating the casual and conversational tone of the channel.
The hosts also reflect on their own viewing habits and past experiences with films, drawing parallels between the new trailer's style and movies like "Moana" or shows like "Community." They discuss the phenomenon of "superhero fatigue" in general cinema but apply it here to the feeling that this specific story arc has been exhausted. There is a clear distinction made between appreciating the technical aspects of filmmaking, such as stunt work and visual effects, and the need for a compelling, unique story to sustain interest. The consensus among the reactors is that while the production values are high, the script's reliance on familiar tropes makes it difficult to generate genuine excitement, especially given the intense fanbase surrounding Prithviraj Sukumaran who might be disappointed if the film does not meet their high expectations.
In the final segment of the video, the hosts wrap up by inviting viewer feedback on the trailer and teasing upcoming content, including a mention of a Bruce Lee film and a director named Vysakh whose previous works like "Turbo" have received mixed reviews. The conversation takes a humorous turn as Rick addresses complaints from viewers about him eating popcorn during a serious famine-related video, jokingly defending his actions by comparing them to people eating popcorn at the theater during "Schindler's List." They conclude by confirming the release date for "Khalifa" is approaching quickly, specifically mentioning the upcoming weekend in August, and encourage their audience to share their thoughts in the comments section before signing off with their channel's signature catchphrase.

I saw Devor brought it too.
>> And
>> did you watch it?
>> No.
>> Okay.
>> Haven't seen it yet.
>> Um I've heard I've heard it's enjoyable.
Not as good as the first.
>> Oh, nowhere near.
>> Yeah.
>> It's um Did you
>> It's fine.
>> It's okay.
>> I had some laughs and there was um
overall had a good time and a one time
watch.
>> So it's it's I mean it's not one of
those ones that's like insulting in
terms of like its sequel, right? think,
you know, the ones that are just like,
"Oh, this is awful. Money grab."
>> Um, but they did do a lot of fan
service. There was like 50 different
references to the first movie. There was
a lot of exposition at times like,
[laughter] and they didn't know when to
end it, but overall, it's fine. I saw I
saw it on Disney Plus. I didn't pay for
it. It's like,
>> it's fine.
>> It was cool to see those characters
again. Yeah.
>> So, it's like a good one time watch.
I'll probably never watch that one
again. I don't know what's the first
one, but
>> we actually watched I had seen it
before, but this reminds me a lot of
Anne Hathaway and Merryill Street. We
watched Ny infomaniac.
>> Nice. [laughter]
>> The biggest, the baddest, wackiest,
funniest, filmiest show on earth.
[music]
>> Hey, welcome back to our stupid. I'm
Rick. FOLLOW TWITTER MORE JUICY CONTENT.
>> Thank you to sports and patron. Follow
subscribe. [clears throat]
get excited about the juicy content and
rest in peace Tommy John. Did you hear
about Tommy John passing away?
>> And uh Hayden Penditude.
>> Well, yeah, that's
>> that's insane.
>> Tommy, if you don't know who Tommy John
is,
>> he was old. [laughter]
>> Tommy was fighting illness, but yeah, he
he he was older uh and was a Yankee for
many, many, many years, hence the Yankee
jersey. And there's a surgery in
baseball called Tommy John surgery. He
was the first one to get it. That's why
it's called Tommy John surgery. That has
saved the arms of countless pitchers who
prior to that surgery,
>> you damaged that ligament in your arm,
your career was over. And now Garrett
Cole is a great example of somebody who
just had Tommy John surgery and is
pitching as good as you ever pitched.
So, uh, but yeah, hers, the minute I
heard she passed away, my first thought
was this is foul play or she's ODed.
Yeah.
>> And that's just tragic. What was she 36?
>> And her brother died three years ago.
Oh, just disgusting.
>> So, their parents are left with no
children.
>> That's just brutal.
>> Yeah. Not good.
>> On a happier note, uh on a happier note,
I have a butt.
>> Uh
>> he touched the butt.
>> Today, uh this is a new trailer called
>> Flip Wilson's Magic Ride. If you know
who Flip Wilson is, I'm I am beyond
impressed. Beyond impressed.
>> Read this.
>> Oh. Uh, does that say Kalia or Khalifa?
>> Khalifa.
>> Whiz Khalifa.
>> Whiz Khalifa. Yes. That's that's what
happens when Khalifa has to go to the
bathroom.
>> She takes a whiz.
>> Takes a whiz.
>> Um
>> or it's when he goes and visits he
visits Oz. He becomes Whiz Khalifa.
>> This is the kind of comedy you pay for
here.
>> Here we go.
I don't know what that said.
[music]
Hold on. [music] Sorry.
Hand subtitles.
Smuggler.
What's his name? Is that Ela?
[cheering]
Same, bro.
again.
takes the drive.
>> The color grading really pretty.
>> I've been saying that a lot.
>> Yeah, I have a Jones for color grading.
This one
Who's that?
Who's the lion in Mal? Is that the
Moano?
So, uh, I thought the it was really
pretty like in terms of like the color
grading, like I said, the action, like
it all looked top-notch, the story kind
of just like I' I felt like I've seen
this a ton from Indian cinema, this this
type of story and so
>> and then Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it did even
the trailer with with I mean, you're
going to get the appeal to emotion and
he's a badass and all the young guys
want to be the badass like him. So, and
you know, he's going to have a moment
where he's going to scream really loud
that makes you feel like he's going to
give such emotion in the film, which is
fine.
>> If it is Malam,
>> hopefully there's a little more there
because obviously they typically don't
>> exactly
>> do just that. Not saying they can't
because obviously we saw in Theon we did
not enjoy in Theon.
>> No. Um, so it's they're not above it in
terms of like doing that. But um in
terms of like like in how it looked, it
looked top-notch in terms of like like
there was nothing CGI wise that gave me
like it was like it's really just like I
felt like we've done this story a lot
like um
>> this this
>> this kind of revenge or
>> and and when it comes to
>> come up story you know
>> and when it comes to stunt work I love
really cool looking visuals on stunt
work when the predominance of it like
everything in film making is going to be
done from a place of believability. and
it happens to be something that looks
particularly awesome
>> versus the opposite where stunt work is
done just to be cool
>> and often times that's the case with a
lot of action films these days where
it's very obvious that that was just
done to be cool which is it's fine
there's an audience for it and sometimes
I really enjoy that but a lot of the
time and most of the time it just wears
thin for me to sustain my attention
versus believability and story so yeah
it's hard to tell
>> it looks like it was Moanal
>> the ring the lion there at the end.
Obviously, at least on IDB, it says that
he is in it. And so I I kind of assumed
it kind of looked like Moan's hand a
little bit.
>> Is he known as the lion?
>> It's been repeatedly happening enough in
stuff that we've seen that
>> is he known
>> I I I I don't know if that's like a
permanent moniker for him, but it's
definitely something we've seen a lot.
>> Uh let's see. I just want to check on
this director, see if we've seen him at
all before. Say his name. I can't even
pronounce that.
>> I I don't know that I'll pronounce it
right either. I would say it's Visak.
Okay. Turbo, which we didn't see.
Monster, which is a moan, which we
didn't see.
No, no, no.
>> Yeah. A lot of lot of films and we
haven't seen
>> uh although I I heard mixed stuff about
Turbo, but there were some people that
were really enjoy.
That's a Mammoodi action one. It came
out last year.
>> Okay.
>> Uh which I heard mixed stuff. Some
people really really enjoyed it. Some
people didn't like it. [clears throat]
Um, so you guys can tell us how that one
was, um, as a director and so we can
kind of know what to expect here. Yeah.
From this. There's a film called Bruce
Lee coming up, too.
>> Yeah. I wonder if it's about Bruce Lee.
>> No,
>> probably not.
>> It's probably about um,
>> Abe Vagod.
>> Yeah. Jake But Joyy's scores always
slap.
>> So that's exciting. Love a good Jakey.
Um, a man becomes entangled in a complex
world of revenge. um heritage and
influence and gold smug. Yeah, that's
>> that's what we got.
>> That's [laughter]
revenge, gold smuggling.
>> That's my biggest issue. I've seen that
in Indian cinema about a thousand times
now.
>> And so like you know how we have
superhero fatigue.
>> I'm like you got to give me you got to
give me a little more
>> great example
>> than just revenge now.
>> No. And there'll be a lot of people who
are just Priti Raj fans who will be
hating on anyone who doesn't adore it
and worship it the way they adore it and
worship. That's fine. Go have a great
time. I love that anything he does,
you'll watch and have a great time with.
That's great. But I I need more.
>> Yeah. And maybe there is more.
Obviously,
>> there might be. Again, don't
>> like I said,
>> not going to judge the movie by the
trailer, but the trailer didn't make me
want to see the film.
>> And that is the biggest issue for me
with the trailers. Just like I felt like
I've seen this movie before, not the
fact that it didn't look like the acting
was good. the action looked good.
>> So, it could turn out to be like this
really really good film, right?
>> Um like if there's, you know, just more
complexity to the story than just
another revenge story, another gold
smuggling story.
>> We've seen that
>> so many times,
>> right?
>> Um [laughter]
come make it be a silver smuggler.
>> That's why some of
>> He's not wrong. And that's why some of
the best stories that you see are true
stories because no two true stories are
exactly the same.
>> Yeah.
>> So
>> So yeah, let us know what you guys
thought about this. Uh you excited for
this when just own them? So end of the
month
>> end of the month.
>> Soon.
>> Yeah.
>> Anyways, uh August Yeah. August 20th. Uh
the week end.
>> Yeah. This coming weekend.
>> Jesus Christ.
>> Yeah, that's fast. Didn't we do our um
the we did an Onum video at the Four,
right?
>> We did last year.
>> Yeah.
>> Yep. If you haven't seen that.
>> Oh, delicious.
>> Great food. Amazing food. Different
food.
>> Some of you were very upset.
>> I know. It's fine.
>> It's okay.
>> Just like you were upset when we went to
Delhi and the very first meal we had
there was South Indian breakfast.
>> They were just upset with me this past
week.
>> Oh, I thought you meant about that
video.
>> No, no, no, but it was a different
video. Last week's video. What were they
upset with you about?
>> The uh famine video.
>> Yeah,
>> I was eating popcorn.
>> Oh, yeah. I remember. I I I I remember
that. [laughter] I I remember when it
was happening. I remember logging the
thought. I went
>> I wonder if people are going to notice
the fact that Corbin's eating popcorn in
a fan video. [laughter]
I didn't That's a sucky fan. I did. It
literally did not even clock, guys. So,
if you're offended, I'm sorry. I was
just hungry. I'm sorry. [laughter]
It wasn't anything personal. I would
have done it in Schindler's List. Okay?
Like, [laughter]
it's nothing personal. I guarantee you
had if you went to the movie theater and
saw Schindler's List, you were eating
popcorn. I was. And I promise you, if he
was walking the streets in
Congo right now where people are dying
and he wouldn't be eating the popcorn.
>> No.
>> He was watching a video. I
>> was watching a video.
>> Come on. I did not know you were getting
a hard time. No, I it's just I just
looked I'm like, "Oh, yeah, people are
upset with me today." [laughter]
Sorry, guys.
