Keys to Supernatural Ministry | Lecture 2 : BC205-KSM-20260824

Good morning and welcome everyone. So good to see you all uh once again this week in this course supernatural keys to supernatural ministry. Uh could one of you lead in prayer and then we will discuss Thank you Lord Jesus. Thank you father for this wonderful day. Lord Jesus I want to thank you father for all the students who are sitting father bless each and every single student lord father open our hearts and minds lord father that whatever they're going to teach lord father get into our hearts lord father and it will bear fruit lord father in Jesus name we always pray. Amen. >> Amen. Thank you. Thank you son. So uh we were looking at the first chapter from ministering, healing and deliverance and we uh considered eight reasons why the supernatural is important. So the eight were that uh miracles, healings and deliverance reveal the reality and the nature of God. Miracles reveal God's greatness. Miracles demonstrate God's compassion. Miracles have a powerful effect on people especially on those who do not believe. The importance that Jesus gave to the miracles. The kingdom comes with power. The gospel is to be preached with accompanying signs and miracles encourage people to believe for more of the supernatural. So this is what we have already looked at and in the last class we were discussing why uh we don't see many miracles. So that was the discussion where we stopped I think. So let's get back to that. Yeah. Please give me a moment. I'm just scrolling to that section. This is on uh page 25 in the PDF where we said that lack of knowledge affects us. Uh we don't know what God's word says about uh the supernatural and therefore we don't believe. Secondly, wrong teaching keeps us stuck in our minds and thereby in our faith. So we find it difficult to receive from the Lord. Then um the other aspect is we somewhere we think that the supernatural is meant for some people maybe the pastors maybe the prophets the apostles but it is not for all the believers. So when we have that understanding again we are lacking in faith and so when we pray supernatural is not demonstrated. So these are the issues and uh we may get into a place where we are replacing the manifestation of God's power with many other things such as technology or some kind of uh good tools which we have and so it's a practice of substitution which is not the way the Bible teaches us to serve God. So these are the reasons why believers today are not manifesting the supernatural and uh in the last class we also said being unwilling to press in for the power of God. So remember uh Matthew 11:12 uh it says from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force. Meaning we must have the capacity to press in for more of the supernatural. It will not just fall on us. There are things in life if you don't run after it, we'll never get it. So the supernatural or more of the supernatural is somewhat like that. We can't just ex sit down and say that yeah more will come. we have to run after it and uh that many people don't do and so we don't have the manifestation right so these are the main reasons why we are not seeing uh much of the supernatural so we'll move forward from there uh one more point which we can highlight which is slightly different is discouragement of failure so we may be discouraged we We may think that it'll never happen or secondly in the past when we have experiences where we have prayed and nothing happened. We fasted nothing happened. Right? Sometimes believers will say I went to big big pastors. They all laid hands on my head. What happened? Nothing happened. So then it has brought them to a place of discouragement where they feel it's not working. But we should not get stuck in the past discouragement. We let go of those failures. Yeah, we don't know why it didn't happen. Maybe I prayed 99 times, nothing happened, but I will still believe God the 100th time. So we need that heart to press into more of the supernatural. Now the other uh question that people ask is when we are talking about the supernatural, doesn't the powers of the kingdom of darkness also demonstrate the supernatural? So uh how how is it different then? God is doing the supernatural. But when we look at demons, they'll also do some miraculous signs. So don't let that discourage you. We have so many examples in the Bible. We uh know the example of Moses and the magicians. They did the same miracle like Moses. But at the end, what happened? the rod of uh Moses which became a snake it cons ate up the snakes of the magicians. So ultimately God is the one who wins. Now one more example is Elijah and the prophets of uh Baal. Now in that in in that um uh sort of competition on Mount Carmel they were also calling on rain. Elijah is also calling on rain. Ultimately did God answer or not? Yes God answered. So God will come through. We should not be discouraged. give it some time and keep pressing forward. So it is a reality that the kingdom of darkness will manifest power but we should not be afraid. One more example is u in uh acts acts chapter 8 there is a man by the name of simon he's a sorcerer but he becomes a believer and we see how he is fascinated by the the uh prayer and ministry of Peter and John when Peter and John come from Jerusalem and they are ministering baptism of the holy spirit he says can you give what you have I'll give you money. But this man himself was a sorcerer. Meaning he was used to the kingdom of darkness before. But when he sees the power of God, he's able to understand that this is better. This is greater. And so he's wanting it. You remember this one. Yeah. And at that time what Peter and John say? They say let your money perish with you. You thought that you can buy the power of God for money. So uh there is power in the kingdom of darkness but obviously it is nothing compared to the power that God demonstrates. So the power of God is much greater and we should never be afraid of what the uh evil one is doing because uh in writing to Thessalonians Paul wrote that in the last days the Satan will also do lying signs and wonders. So supernatural will be there from the kingdom of darkness. We can't stop it. When we go and share with our friends, they'll say if healing is happening in church, healing is happening elsewhere also. Then how to answer them? We keep pressing in and saying God, you reveal yourself. Let them know the truth. Let them not be misled by the uh the miracles that are taking place elsewhere. Okay. Now the other question that comes is if we keep asking for supernatural isn't it wrong because Jesus rebuked the uh Pharisees at that time and he said you're always asking for signs then today we are saying we need uh we need signs we need wonders and miracles then how will Jesus respond to us will he rebuke us no So let's understand the motivation of those people. They never believed in Jesus and they were only testing Jesus. That's why Jesus was upset with them. But today we are not trying to test Jesus. We with our genuine faith are asking him to show more of his glory. We are asking him to uh touch people's lives with healing and uh meet their needs by performing miracles. And that is coming from a place of faith. So Jesus is not going to be upset with us when we ask for more of the supernatural. So don't get confused by those passages of scripture. And uh uh yeah ultimately it's true that along with the supernatural we must demonstrate a good life uh so that there is that balance. We have a good uh Christian testimony as well as the supernatural. Every good tree will bear good fruit, right? That's what uh Jesus taught. So both must be a part of our life. So there are in this chapter there are many arguments where people will ask isn't it better to enter the kingdom of god than uh for us to have the supernatural. Both are necessary. We want eternal life also and we want the manifestation of God's power in this life as well. So another question is people say isn't doing good works more important than doing miraculous works. From the eight points we discussed it is pretty clear that miracles have a way of drawing people to God towards God. So they are important. We should never say that only good works are important. Right? Miracles are definitely important. And when it comes to apologetics that is answering people's questions uh again we have discussed in that chapter let us answer people's questions but also demonstrate the power of God because that's how Jesus did it that's how Paul did it that's how Peter did it so apologetics with power is the way that we need to minister to people so overall I went through very quickly this chapter uh but what we we have understood is that God wants us to proclaim the gospel as well as demonstrate his glory through the power of God. So uh I I'm sure we we have understood and we agree with this. Okay, great. So then let's just move on to the next chapter in our notes. So now we will start looking at our notes and not the book ministering healing and deliverance. Please use the notes that have been provided in the classwork section. So after speaking about the importance of um the supernatural, section one in our notes says that Jesus has invited us to walk in the supernatural as well. So there is a possibility for every believer to manifest the supernatural in their daily lives. During the time when Jesus was walking the earth, he did not limit this supernatural ministry only to himself. He called his disciples to also walk in the supernatural ministry. First of all, he set the example. Yes or no? He was preaching, teaching, healing, delivering, and working miracles, meeting people's needs. And he called his disciples and said, "Do the same thing. You teach also and you do the miracles also." So first we we see that uh uh he appointed his 12 disciples and he tells them to go and do ministry. So we can read this in Matthew chapter 10 verse 1 verse 7 and 8. So if someone can read that then we will read the next passage from uh Luke chapter 10. And when he heard called his disciples 12 disciples to him, he gave them power over unclean spirits to cast out them and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. >> Yes. >> Verse 8, 7 and 8. >> And as you go, preach saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the leper, lepers, raise the dead, and cast out demons. Freely you have received freely given. >> Okay. So this is the command that Jesus is giving to his disciples. One is to preach the gospel. Quite clear. Would you agree with me? Okay. We can see it. Um and also power over unclean spirits. Meaning what? Do deliverance. heal all kinds of sickness and disease. So healing is Jesus um limiting this supernatural ministry to himself. Not at all. very very clear that the 12 disciples were also trained by Jesus and commissioned by Jesus to go and deliver go and heal and obviously he is asking them to uh preach the gospel as well right so we see that in Yeah. Verse seven, as you go preach, saying the kingdom of heaven is at hand. So the ministry is a combination of preaching, healing, and delivering just like Jesus. So did he stop with the 12 disciples? No. He in fact told the others also to do the same thing. So now let us read from Luke chapter 10 verse 1 and verses 17- 19. Now after this the Lord appointed 70s >> Now after this the Lord appointed 70 others and sent them in pairs ahead of him to every city and place where he himself was going to come. Verse 17 the 70 returned with joy saying Lord even the demons are subjected subject to us in your name. And he said to them, I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to trade on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing will injure you. >> Okay. Thank you. So we saw earlier Matthew 10, the 12 disciples were asked to do ministry like Jesus. Now in Luke 10, 70 others are invited into the supernatural ministry and Jesus is sending them two by two into every city and place where he himself was about to go. Did he give them very little authority or what do you think? >> No. Yeah, he has given them uh you know full authority and they are coming back with joy and they are telling him that when we command demons in your name Jesus what's happening demons are subject to the mighty name of Jesus. Just think about the the way the the thrill or the amazement that they felt. They took the authority that Jesus gave them and they're going and commanding demons and exactly the way demons used to listen to Jesus, they are listening to 70 of these people. So they're coming back and telling Jesus this uh and verse 18 where Jesus says, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." You know, one explanation that I heard about uh this uh verse is when these 70 people did ministry, what happened to Satan's kingdom? Damage. I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. In a way, uh it's a it's an expression of saying you guys did great. you know, you went and you opposed the enemy's kingdom. You did some mighty exploits. Great job, guys. So, Jesus was not insecure. He was not uh trying to hold on to his power and say, "No, no, I'll do it. You only preach." He was open. First the 12 disciples, now the 70 people, and they're all coming back after experiencing the glory of his kingdom. And Jesus is also happy with their work. And Jesus is talking about the kind of authority that he has given them. So in verse 19 he says I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions. You know this trample on serpents and scorpions is is a way in which we are showing that we are more powerful. serpents and scorpions is is figurative language. It's not exactly those creatures, but it's figurative language for demonic spirits. And the way uh one might crush a scorpion with their with their boots. We can crush demonic spirits, their power with our spiritual authority. What a picture it is. He's telling them, I give you authority uh to trample serpents and scorpions and all the power of the enemy. Is anything left? No. Because all the power contains all and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Protection also authority and protection. So in this way he is commissioning 70 other people. Now as if this is not enough we observe that there is a disciple who is not part of this gang. He is also doing supernatural works. We'll read about him in Mark chapter 9. So can somebody please read Mark 9:38- 40. Now John answered him saying, "Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in your name, and we forbid him because he does not follow us." But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him. For no one who works a miracle in my name can soon afterward speak evil of me." >> Amen. >> No, even 40. Okay. For he who is not against us is on our side. >> Amen. Yes. Thank you, brother. So, here uh there is somebody he's he is not maybe he didn't have uh ID card. No. Uh as being part of Jesus's group. So disciples have noticed him and they go and complain to Jesus. Jesus see look at that man. He's not part of us. And yet what is he doing? He's manifesting the supernatural through his ministry. So uh in your name he is casting out demons and we forbid him because he does not follow us. So we can almost imagine that scene they are telling Jesus we stop Jesus. They thought Jesus would be happy with them but Jesus said what have you done? Okay. uh don't forbid him. If he is working miracles in my name, how can he speak evil of me? He who is not against me, he's for me. He's very much for us. >> Yes, >> he's very much in the kingdom of God. He's not part of the group, but he's in the kingdom of God. So, don't stop people who are manifesting the supernatural in my name. So uh our understanding is there could have been other people also who were manifesting the supernatural and Jesus was very happy with everyone who walked that way. So if he was happy uh with with them then today what is his expectation from you and me? Will he want us to walk in the supernatural? Yes, definitely. So, we can have that confidence that uh you and I should also be manifesting the supernatural. So, one great passage of scripture for that is uh the great commission Matthew 28 18 to 20. So, there he told go make disciples of all nations teaching them all that I have taught you. So part of what was taught to the disciples is the supernatural. So we are also supposed to learn it and also teach it to others. And God is expecting us to manifest the supernatural through our lives. So can you see 12 disciples, 70 others, even those who are not part of Jesus's team and each one of us are invited to manifest the supernatural. Now in another way when we look at this we know that Jesus himself manifested sunship glory. his glory for the first time. Where where is it recorded that he manifested his glory? Which miracle? >> Water into wine. John chapter 2. So there the power of God was manifested. But what do we read in John chapter 1:14? Can somebody read it out? John chapter 1 and verse 14. And the word became flesh and dwelt among us. And we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth. >> Yes. So we saw the glory of God in Jesus. Full of grace and truth. Glory is being seen as grace and truth. In other words, the virtues or the character, the values that are in God himself, Jesus was revealing that the way he uh walked in love, he walked in compassion, he walked in wisdom, he walked in truth, he never tolerated lies. So all those things are the character of God. Justice, glory is manifesting the virtues quite clearly. And we saw that in Jesus. That's what the Bible says. Grace and truth. Full of grace. Full of truth. Nobody can look at Jesus and say that anything is wrong in his behavior or his words or his thoughts. Other apart from that the glory is also manifested in miracles because in John chapter 2 when the water turned into wine the power of God was demonstrated that is also glory. Character is manifesting glory. Power is also manifesting glory. So when we say that you and I must demonstrate sunship glory like Jesus, we must manifest right character as well as power. That is God's expectation. And uh we know that Jesus walked in sunship glory. And this passage is there in uh John chapter 17. We'll read this passage. It's an important one. John 17 5 and 22. And now, oh father, glorify me to together with yourself with the glory which I h heard with you before the world was. 22 >> and the glory which you gave me I have given them that they might be one just as we are one. >> Yes. So let us understand Jesus is talking about a glory and we already uh saw how it was manifested. So what is this glory that Jesus had? He says glorify me together with yourself with the glory which I had with you before the world was. So that means before Jesus came to the earth he had heavenly glory. You remember Philippians chapter 2, it says he left behind his glory and uh you know he yeah he humbled himself. So he never carried his heavenly glory here on earth. Which glory did he have? He had sunship glory. So that is the glory which he had manifested in his character as well as power. This same glory is also given to the believers. In verse 22, Jesus is saying, "Glory which you gave me, I have given them that they may be one just as we are one." Jesus is carrying sunship glory and he has also given the sunship glory to the believers. So today what is the glory that we are carrying? >> Sunship glory. So if that glory can manifest the miracles of God, we can absolutely expect that to happen even in and through our lives because all of us are carriers of the glory of God. So what is glory? Okay, very nice. We've learned that one line. No, who God is and what he does. So who God is is what? Character. He's mighty. He's powerful and all that. What he does is his miracles demonstrating his uh supernatural works in our lives. So when we say that we will manifest the glory of God then what does it mean? >> Manifest is character and power in everyday life. And the Bible encourages us that just the way Jesus walked we we must also walk in this life. as he was so are we in this world. We see that passage in 1 John chapter 4 verse 17. So uh yes Jesus is in heaven but today his disciples are carrying the glory so many of us and through that God's glory is going to fill the earth and we need a passion for it to go after it. Now why don't we see that happening? We've already discussed the different reasons. We we said that there is ignorance uh there is wrong teaching people are not willing to pay the price etc. And uh due to those things we are not seeing as much of the power of God as should be. And as believers let us also know that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. See first we said Jesus has invited all of us. Okay. Secondly, we said that we are carriers of sunship glory. He has given it to us. Now, third, we are saying we have the empowering of the Holy Spirit. Was Jesus anointed by the Holy Spirit? Yes. So, in Luke 4:es 18 to 19, we won't read that passage. We are aware that you know Jesus said, "The spirit of the Lord is upon me." And he goes on to talk about the mandate that God has given him. So how did he do his work with the spirit on him or the empowering of the Holy Spirit in his life? And that same Jesus was known for the good works that he did. So in Acts 10:38 we read uh Jesus of Nazareth went about doing good, healing all those who were um oppressed of the devil, right? And he was anointed by the Holy Spirit. So he was empowered by the spirit of God and he did uh he manifested healings in the lives of people at a time when he cast out demons. So in Matthew 12:28 he's casting out demons. There also he says by the spirit of God. That's how he performed a deliverance. So healings by the anointing of the Holy Spirit and also um he is casting out demons by the Holy Spirit. Now what about you and me? What can we do by the spirit? H not able to hear very well. Little bit louder. >> Gater things. >> Greater things. Okay. Sure. Greater things. Of course. Uh can we refer to any passages in the Bible where it talks about these things? What will we do? >> Yeah. John 14 verse12. Greater things. what uh brother said. Same thing. Uh how about we look at um Luke 6. Luke 6 verse 17 to 19. If one of us can read it out. He came down with a disciples and a great multitude of people from all and from the sea coast was and who came to hear them and we of >> oh so sorry brother I'm so sorry uh 16 16 Uh I I meant uh >> yeah chapter by mistake I said wait one second I think I mixed up the reference uh Mark 16 Mark Yeah, Mark 16:17. I'm so sorry about that reference. >> Right. >> Yes. So quite clearly we can see here that we will cast out demons because we believe we will also speak in new tongues. We might take up serpents or drink anything deadly. It will by no means hurt us. We will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. So that these are all supernatural things. Who's going to do these things? >> We. But how does the passage begin? >> These signs will follow those who >> believe. See, we believe, right? We are believers. And so these signs must follow us. We understand about deliverance. We understand about healing. What is this thing about take up serpents and drink deadly thing and take up serpents again figurative language for uh any demonic opposition that we may be facing we will overcome. Drink anything deadly is when we we are um uh in danger of some sort. So in the book of acts we will see that when the ministers of god are uh going to different cities some harmful things happen to them right but even in that god will protect that's the point so god's protection will be there when we are doing ministry so in all of these ways God is going to take care of his people so we can expect the supernatural to manifest through our lives. Guys and finally the passage that uh all of you mentioned John 14 >> yeah 12 verse 12 so it says here in John uh 14:12 I say to you he who believes in me the works that I do he will do also and greater works than these he will do because I go to my father. So greater works are possible because Jesus is going to the father. What does it mean? Tell me. Greater works will be done by us. Why is it connected to Jesus going to the father? >> Okay. Yeah. So he will be in the presence of the father. Okay. What else does it mean? to send the Holy Spirit. >> Yes. So, can you see the connection? When he goes to the father, what will he do? Send the Holy Spirit. That's why we can do the greater works. Otherwise, we can never do the greater works. We need the empowering of the Holy Spirit. And no wonder in Acts 1:8 Jesus said, "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be my witnesses." So all of this is possible because of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. So in the life of uh Jesus, Holy Spirit was empowering. In the book of acts who was helping all the apostles and believers holy spirit right so lot of notable miracles are there there is one time in acts chapter 3 you see that uh Peter goes and tells a man who is lame for 40 years he tells him in the name of Jesus rise up and walk and that man starts walking So Jesus is not there but supernatural ministry is continuing. That's what he was telling in in John 12 14 where he said you shall do greater works than these because I go to my father. I'll send the holy spirit. So now the uh apostles were baptized in the holy spirit and through the power of the holy spirit miracles have started happening. Okay. And it never stopped. Even up until today, by the empowering of the Holy Spirit, we are continuing to to do the miracles that the disciples and the apostles did in the early church. So overall today, what did we discuss? Today we discussed that Jesus invited his disciples to also manifest the supernatural. Right? Quite clearly we have seen it. And he wants his disciples to walk in sunship glory. That is the second thing we saw. Third thing we saw that he wants us to do the supernatural works empowered by the Holy Spirit. And finally we spoke a little bit about how he wants us to operate in the greater works. So with all this it's very very clear that whatever was manifested by Jesus and his disciples 2,000 years ago the same expectation is there over each of us. So are there any questions any any uh points for discussion based on what we have spoken Now how to manifest the supernatural we have to do the course that's why we are doing keys to supernatural ministry so we'll we'll get into it uh but any other any other questions or doubts if any okay I came to the chat section here and uh Samuel has written why do many believers even though being a Christian for 10 years 20 years never experience walk in supernatural I think they don't have a proper understanding of faith and belief I heard Smith Wigglesworth never went more than 15 minutes without reading the Bible. He was saturated in the word of God. I think we need to be always saturated in the word and have deep intimate relationship with God in order experience or walk in the supernatural. Thank you Sam. You asked the question, you gave the answer. So that's that's good. You're right. We need to uh be in the word. Maybe that's faith is the key, right? We can be a believer for many years. It's good. Thank God for those who have a long journey with the Lord because they are faithful for so many years. They're following Jesus. But maybe faith is lacking for the supernatural because of the lack of the word. So as Sam rightly pointed out, when we take more time in God's word, more faith will arise and more of the manifestation of the supernatural will happen. Yes. Any other points Okay. So then let me give you a a homework. We said that the glory of God is manifest in the truth and uh grace and power of God. Right? So from the Bible, from the New Testament, can you pick five examples, five situations or incidents where the glory of God was manifested? Whichever way either through power or through virtues. So five examples and what we will do is we will start with that in the next class. So you share the examples, we'll discuss and uh we move on to the next section. Okay, here uh we have a question in the chat. Now Muna is asking Romans 8 verse 19 says creation is waiting for the revealing of the sons of God. What exactly is creation waiting to see? So in a way we can say that u the glory of God that that's what creation also wants to see. So the revealing of the sons of God means when we as God's children rise up and take our position, our authority uh and we are walking in faith, we are fulfilling God's purpose. That's the time when creation will also rejoice. It'll be like wow look at all these people. They they are um using the power power of the spirit and uh they are manifesting the glory of god. So uh that's what it means. Uh muna I hope that helps in some way. Yeah sure. All right then. So please take time to go back and study and uh come back with five examples. We will discuss it and we will go to the next section. All right. So let's pray and we are going to close. Heavenly Father, we thank you Lord for uh your grace. We thank you for your presence. We thank you for your powerful word uh which is uh changing and shifting things inside us. Father God, we ask that you will equip us for life. Lord, you'll equip us. Lord, it is only you who knows all the circumstances, situations, challenges that uh we need to walk past. And uh as we take your word in, Lord, we know that you're preparing us to be an overcomer in every situation, Father. Yes, Lord. May the supernatural be seen uh in each one of our lives. May your glory be manifest in each one of our lives. We thank you. We thank you once again for your word, Lord. We praise you and we glorify you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen.
