Video summary
The episode of K-Check Season 4, Week 11 features four university students from UP Diliman competing in a fast-paced trivia challenge to determine the next champion. The contestants include Urick, a former computer engineering student now studying Hotel Restaurant and Institution Management; Adrian, a civil engineering enthusiast who enjoys movie recaps; G, a geography major with a passion for crime dramas and classic novels like Sherlock Holmes; and Raj, a computer engineering student who loves indie games and unique music genres. They are guided by a distinguished panel of experts comprising Professor Neil Santilan from the Department of History, Assistant Professor Sophia Gilmo from the Department of Arts Studies, and Professor Ricky Nelas from the Institute of Chemistry, who provide answers and educational insights throughout the competition.
The competition unfolds across three intense rounds with increasing difficulty and point stakes. In the first round, contestants answer general knowledge questions ranging from history and geography to pop culture, with Raj initially taking the lead before Adrian catches up in the second round where incorrect answers result in point deductions. The second half of the show features multiple-choice questions covering diverse topics such as astronomy, Philippine history, science and technology policies, and film terminology. During these segments, the panelists frequently correct the contestants' misconceptions, offering detailed explanations on subjects like the definition of "shoe gazing," the mechanics of Vocaloid music, and the historical context behind various cultural artifacts and scientific achievements.
The final round serves as the ultimate test for the remaining participants, where Professor Neil asks about Indonesian political history and guided democracy, while Professor Sophia questions the contestants on camera movements in film and the meaning of "minino" in K-pop culture. Professor Ricky concludes the trivia portion by asking about the inventor of soyak and darak cookies, leading to a victory for Maria Orosa. After a dramatic tallying of scores where Adrian maintains his lead despite close competition from G, Raj, and Urick, the host announces Adrian as the winner with a final score of 140 points, setting the stage for the upcoming semifinals featuring other daily winners.
