Video summary
In this episode of K-Check Season 4, hosts Attorney Gabby Conception and Jules Gillang introduce a new set of four contestants eager to test their knowledge and brainpower against a panel of distinguished UP experts. The competitors include Eric, a 37-year-old gamer and student at the PUP Open University; Shu, a civil engineering student from National University Manila who enjoys crocheting and caring for his pets; Sim Aisang, a nursing student from UP Manila with a passion for music and singing; and Cian, a speech communication student specializing in rhetoric. They are judged by Professor Neil Santillian, Assistant Professor Sophia Gillermo, and Professor Nikki Ricky Nelas, who guide them through three intense rounds of trivia covering topics ranging from geography and history to science and pop culture.
The competition begins with the first round where correct answers earn 10 points each, allowing Eric to take an early lead by correctly answering questions about Mount Everest, Pinocchio, Train to Busan, Juan Luna, Dolph Lundgren, Neptune, seahorses, Captain Sparrow, Syria, Chris Pratt, and the Indian tiger. Following this round, the hosts engage in a brief interview segment where Eric discusses his motivation for returning to school to set a good example for younger generations, while Shu shares how he uses crocheting as a stress-relief hobby during the pandemic. The second round increases the stakes with 20-point questions and penalties for wrong answers, featuring queries on volleyball titles, K-pop anagrams, upholstery, veins versus arteries, Star Wars, triple plays in baseball, Bukidnon province, Conor McGregor, Gone with the Wind, Broadway, liposuction, and the movie Coco.
The final segment is the Ultimate Pagalingan round, where correct answers are worth 30 points but incorrect ones result in a 15-point deduction. This high-pressure phase includes multiple-choice questions on historical events like the Hijrah and the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, scientific discoveries such as sonar technology and penicillin, cultural festivals like the Masara Festival, and concepts ranging from Shinto rituals to anime styles like Chibi. Eric maintains his dominance throughout these challenging questions, ultimately securing the title of K-Check daily winner with a final score of 218 points. The episode concludes with congratulations to Eric and an invitation for all participants to return next Friday for the semifinals, while thanking the expert panel and hosts for their engaging presentation.
