Video summary

The video features the fourth semi-finals of K-Check Season 4, where four UP Diliman students compete to become the next champion in Week 13. The contestants include Jace, a secondary education student specializing in social studies who speaks multiple languages; Ace, a mechanical engineering graduate and theater actor known for his hobbies like gaming and crocheting; Wax, a sports science major with a passion for swimming; and Gabby, a geology student who enjoys video games and basketball. They are judged by a panel of experts comprising Assistant Professor Sophia Gillermo, retired math teacher and quiz master Sir Ramon Lorenzo, and Professor Emeritus Hazina Natividad. The competition begins with a standard round where correct answers earn 10 points, testing the contestants' knowledge on diverse topics ranging from European geography and music history to mathematics and Philippine archaeology. Following the first round, Gabby takes the lead with 50 points, followed by Jace, Ace, and Wax. The atmosphere lightens as the hosts engage in casual banter about the contestants' personal lives, such as Ace's crocheting skills and Wax's swimming training, before moving into Round Two. In this phase, the stakes increase with correct answers worth 20 points and a penalty of 10 points for incorrect responses. The questions cover topics like giant rodents smuggled in Costa Rica, the "Queen of Soul," the history of the Vespa scooter, and Greek mythology. By the end of this round, Jace extends his lead to 120 points, while Ace and Gabby tie at 70 points, with Wax trailing slightly behind. The competition intensifies in the Ultimate Pagalingan round, where correct answers are worth 30 points but wrong answers result in a 15-point deduction. This segment includes challenging questions on art techniques like sfumato, geological periods, sociological concepts such as cultural diffusion and primary groups, and mathematical sequences. Throughout this high-stakes portion, the scores fluctuate dramatically as contestants answer correctly or incorrectly. Ace manages to close the gap significantly, eventually overtaking Gabby and Jace to take the lead with 160 points, while Wax remains in third place. The round concludes with a final question on sociology that no contestant answers correctly, leaving the standings tight for the final decision. In the end, Ace emerges as the sole winner of the semi-finals with a total score of 160 points, securing his spot in the grand finals alongside Jace, Wax, and Gabby. The hosts congratulate Ace on his victory and acknowledge the efforts of the other finalists who will compete against him tomorrow for the title of K-Check champion. The episode concludes with gratitude to the panel of experts and a preview of the upcoming grand finals, maintaining the energetic and educational tone that defines the K-Check series as it transitions from the semifinals to the championship round.
