Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
Bethany Huntington, the global VP of digital PR at the performance marketing agency Journey Further, expressed her enthusiasm for MozCon NYC, highlighting the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues like Paul Norris and participate in panel discussions alongside Chima. She noted that the agency is sponsoring the event's happy hour, where attendees can enjoy custom-made cocktails while engaging in meaningful networking and learning from one another in a real-life setting. Her excitement reflects a broader sentiment among professionals attending the conference who are eager to connect and share insights within the digital marketing community.
The central theme of her experience revolves around the growing prominence of earned media, which she observes is currently dominating conversations across the industry. As a digital PR specialist, Bethany finds it particularly rewarding to witness these critical discussions taking place both on stage during formal presentations and informally during networking sessions. This widespread focus indicates that earned media has moved from being a niche tactic to a core component of modern search marketing strategies, validating the importance of authentic brand stories and third-party validation in an increasingly crowded digital landscape.
Bethany's presence at the event underscores the strategic shift within the industry toward valuing genuine relationships and public relations efforts over purely paid placements. By emphasizing earned media, speakers and attendees are collectively acknowledging that trust and credibility built through organic coverage are essential for long-term success in search marketing. The energy and engagement observed at MozCon suggest that professionals are not only adapting to these changes but are also actively championing the role of digital PR as a vital driver of brand visibility and authority.
Ultimately, the video captures a moment of professional camaraderie and strategic alignment where the boundaries between traditional public relations and modern search marketing continue to blur. Bethany's takeaway serves as a reminder that despite rapid technological advancements, the fundamental need for authentic human connection and credible storytelling remains unchanged. As the industry continues to evolve, events like MozCon provide a crucial platform for practitioners to exchange ideas, celebrate shared challenges, and reaffirm the enduring value of earned media in achieving sustainable growth.
