Video summary
Jazz Chisholm Jr. expressed his physical well-being after returning to the lineup with a sprained right thumb, emphasizing that feeling healthy enough to rejoin the team means everything to him. His primary motivation for rushing back as quickly as possible was to contribute to the team's efforts in securing a playoff run. He stated clearly that he wants to be on the field helping his teammates win games in any way he can, highlighting his dedication and desire to support the collective goal of the squad.
The conversation also touched upon a specific play involving Aaron Garcia during the seventh inning, where Chisholm Jr. reflected on a swinging bunt attempt that resulted in him being thrown out at first base. He explained that he initially misread the situation because he saw the ball go straight back to the pitcher and assumed Garcia would have stopped his momentum to retrieve it. This realization led him to acknowledge that he needs to be more prepared for such plays in the future, noting that next time he will simply keep running through the play regardless of where the ball goes.
Emotionally, Chisholm Jr. addressed the disappointment of watching another team celebrate winning the division crown, admitting that it feels like a loss given all the hard work put in during the season. However, he maintained perspective by reminding everyone that winning the division is not their ultimate objective; the true end goal for his team is reaching and competing in the World Series. He concluded that this setback does not affect their mindset or strategy, as they are focused on continuing their journey and waiting for their own moment to shine in the series.
