Video summary

Jazz Chisholm Jr. expressed deep frustration following his team's loss in extra innings after Cam Schlichter delivered an exceptional pitching performance that ultimately could not be overcome by the offense. Despite hitting a ball during the game, Chisholm felt let down because he was unable to maintain consistent production at the plate when it mattered most, turning what should have been a strong offensive showing into a disappointing result for his squad. To address these issues and find greater reliability in his approach, Chisholm focused on specific adjustments during pre-game warm-ups, particularly working on staying through pitches located up the middle of the field. His primary goal was to continue generating hard-hit line drives that would allow him to reach base more frequently, acknowledging that while he has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season, translating those moments into consistent results remains his main challenge right now. The emotional toll of this inconsistency is significant for Chisholm, as he knows exactly what he is capable of achieving but struggles to replicate it day after day in actual game situations. He emphasized that despite the frustration of seeing practice efforts not translate directly into wins or key hits during contests, his mindset remains focused on pushing through these obstacles and continuing to grind every single day until things click consistently for him and his team. Defensively, Chisholm maintains a confident outlook even when plays go wrong, noting that he does not second-guess himself after making errors like dropping throws due to grip issues or missing the ball entirely. He explained that while some attempts were unsuccessful because of mechanical slips rather than lack of effort, he trusts his ability to make close plays and simply moves forward without dwelling on mistakes, believing in his capacity to execute both offensively and defensively at a high level once he finds his rhythm again.

How frustrating a loss is that when you have Cam Schlitler go out there and throw the way that he did this afternoon? >> I mean, super frustrating, especially when it's such a close game and going into extras, you know? Um, it just sucks. >> You did have a hit today, but just overall, how have you been feeling at the plate? >> I mean, I've been feeling okay. You know, hit it hard, get out sometimes, not even making contact, but you know, just every day going out there and grinding, trying to make things happen for the team. >> I saw you in the cage before the game. Were you working on anything specifically to try to find more consistency? Uh yeah, just staying through the ball up the middle, you know, just trying to keep on hitting line drives and getting on base. >> How frustrating is it knowing what you're you're capable of doing, but not being able to kind of put that together consistently so far this season? >> I mean, it's super frustrating when you know your abilities and you go out there and you go in the cage and work every day and it's just not coming together in the game. So, I mean, just got to keep on going and push through it. On the defensive side there, do you second guess yourself in trying to make a play? >> Uh, no. I just didn't. The first time I didn't get a full grip of it. Second time I still didn't have a grip, but I know the the play was close, so I just tried to throw it over there and threw it
