Jarrad Branthwaite Receives England Call Up! | Everton News Daily

David Moyes has given his pre-match press conference ahead of Everton's game against Ipswich Town at Hill Dickinson Stadium tomorrow. Everton welcome newly promoted Ipswich looking to build on what has been a decent start this season. Everton have obviously six games in unbeaten so far, but the manager and us fans would like another victory at Hill Dickinson Stadium. I think if we win tomorrow, then we've had a really good start now nine points from 15 and also getting into both cup competitions. Well, the manager was asked what he thought of Everton's performance on Wednesday as they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 in the Carabao Cup third round. This is what he had to say. >> Uh I was really pleased with a lot of the performances which they we had, you know. Uh Taylor Deblin, Jack Grealish to get the the minutes he did and he come through. Uh you know, they were they were the ones Hednesford does well every time he plays for us. So, we're we're pleased with all those boys who come in, but that's part of it. You know, we need them all to be performing and we need a group of players who when they're selected, then we can we can get them to to >> Yeah, listen. I mean, slightly disagree with the manager there. I don't think it was a good performance the other night, but we got through and that's all that matters in the cup, isn't it? To be in the net the next round where of course we will entertain Newcastle United. Um but yeah, you know, it was good to see Grealish getting important minutes in his legs. Good to see Deblin having a positive performance as well. Um so, hopefully we build on it. Big game like I said against Ipswich tomorrow and hopefully we build on that performance. Um Jarrad Branthwaite will be back in I imagine the starting 11 tomorrow. He was on the bench the other night for the Wolves game, but he's had a good start of the season. He's been called up to England as well. But David Moyes was asked about the importance of keeping him fit for this season. This is what he had to say. >> Well, look Jarrad Jarrad uh you know, he's come up started at Carlisle and I think that the club here done a great job on recruiting him in the first place. It was a brilliant bit of recruitment from Everton. Uh also put him out on loan at right moments on his on his young up-and-coming career. Uh unfortunately, as you as we said earlier, you know, he missed a missed a couple of bits of seasons with with injury. So, if he can get himself back, then I've got no doubt he'll he'll be in contention. He's a He's a really good footballer, and he's a a good center half. So, he he's got a lot of people, I'm sure he'd he'd he'd sort of thank for it. Uh lots of people long before before I've stepped in who've helped him already become an England international and uh obviously helped him get a move from Carlisle to Everton and and uh he's developed greatly in the in the recent seasons. And certainly, what I've seen of him, uh he was somebody when I came in who I was determined that the club should should make sure we keep hold of. >> Yeah, it is He's He's vitally important to have a plan twice, obviously, because he started the season well. All the links away from Everton inevitable, really, aren't they? But um it's important he stays fit for us all season cuz he's a massive player for us, and hopefully, he has a really strong season. And Tyler Dibling, just mentioned him before, he was back in the starting 11 the other night um against Wolves and did well. Did well, got himself man of the match. Created Everton's goal, the only goal of the game, created that. David Moyes was asked about him, how was he, found him, is he now ready to be considered a first-team squad player? This is what the manager had to say. >> I think he's much more ready now than he than he was. I think he's he's he's got a bigger fight in his belly. I think he's acting in a way where he's wanting to show it. He did certainly in the game in midweek, he he showed it, so it can take time, and and look, the history I've had at the club here over longer periods, we used to bring in boys, and it took them time, 6 months a year maybe to become first team regulars and uh Taylor's probably found it quite tough, but he's now beginning to show his teeth a little bit and show his shows exactly what he he can do. >> Yeah, listen, it was good to see Dobbin getting the start the other night. It's even better to see him actually finishing the game though. There was one moment in the game where we were making a sub and he thought it was him going off, but um David Moyes pushed him back on and said it's not you. And then he went on to produce, you know, a couple of really good moments. Won a lovely ball through to Brennan Johnson which then followed an unbelievable bit of track and back and brilliant tackle all in the same move. And then like I said before, he did create the winning goal. Nice little ball in to Chalie Alcaraz who was also a sub. You know, he come back inside and put it in the far corner with his left foot. But for Dobbin to get 90 minutes under his belt will do him the world of good. And like I said, to complete you know, the assist for the the only goal in the game to get given man of the match by the supporters in the stadium as well. All of this adds up to building the confidence and I think we want to see him fully confident and flying, don't we? We want him to be a real viable option for the manager. We want him to be the manager if he's not in the starting 11 to be looking thinking, right, need to get Taylor on. Can he give us a goal or can he create a goal? That's what we want from him now, you know, when he's been here for over a year and that was his first assist. So, hopefully that's the first of many and he starts to really um build his minutes up and start affecting games for us because that's why we bought him. We bought him to come in and be a difference maker. So, good to see that the other night. Uh as just mentioned before, Jarrad Branthwaite has been called into the England squad. Um he's alongside Everton teammate Jordan Pickford. Thomas Tuchel has included him. It's a, you know, reward for the way he started the season. He's been so unlucky with injuries. Jarrad he would have gone to the World Cup had he been fit last season in my opinion. I think he's one of England's best center backs, if not the best English center back on his day. Um, I think he's a tremendous footballer. It's brilliant to see him rewarded. I know some Evertonians are a bit like that when they see him getting included, but you want him to be getting in England squads playing for Everton to show players that you can still get international recognition playing for Everton Football Club. You don't always need to move. But also for me, if you want to do it this way from building up his reputation and from a financial perspective, the more times he's in international football, the higher the asking price for him goes up. And I know we don't like to talk about it like that cuz I don't want to see him going anywhere, but it's good for him to be rewarded. Jordan is England's number one, comfortable and clear. Still, you know, they can they'll start to talk up Trafford now cuz he's gone to Leeds and they they they still think Leeds are a big club. They'll start talking him up. Um, because they keep doing it with every goalkeeper that comes through. It's Henderson or it was Ramsdale or it was Pope. Now it'll be Trafford. Jordan just keeps you know, needs to keep doing his thing and hopefully he'll have another strong performance tomorrow. Him and Jared, hopefully another clean sheet tomorrow. That'll be brilliant way for them to sign off from these first five games and go away with England. Well, both of them called up to the full England squad to face Spain, share the Czech Republic twice, and Croatia all in the qualifying group for the Nations League. Tyler Dibbling and Thierry George have been called up to England's under 21 squad um, for the Euro under 21 qualifying campaign. They will face Kazakhstan, Slovakia, and Ireland in their three games. So, that again, that's a nice little bit of positive news for Tyler Dibbling. Good week for him to be getting called up as well. Thierry George has been in excellent form for Everton so far this season including scoring that absolutely cracker against Manchester United as well. Want to see more from him going forward as well. And Harrison Armstrong has been called up to the England under 20s. But a lot of people thought he'd be in the 21s but he's still in the 20s. Their games against Italy, France and Germany is a He missed the Wolves game with a slight knock but David Moyes did say today that they were hopeful he will be available for the Ipswich game tomorrow. And finally the game of hope game for hope rather that is taking place next Saturday has been moved from Hill Dickinson Stadium to Goodison Park. Um I don't know the full reasons behind it but that decision has been made now. It is raising money for Everton in the community and for Shelter to try and help homeless people on Merseyside as well.
