James Garner Receives England Call Up! | Everton News Daily

Welcome to Toffee TV. It is the Everton News Daily. Everton obviously going into this international break with a somewhat of a spring in our steps. Uh following from on from the 1-0il win against Ipswich Town at the weekend. It wasn't the prettiest of games, but uh we got it. We got the three points. is David Moyes's view of the game >> again. >> Yeah. >> And what your thoughts on that? >> Uh well on the V decision I've said there I said that uh I think it says what was what do you use that wasffected his ability to >> Yeah. affected his ability to to save it which I didn't think was the case but look it's going to it's really difficult for the referees. We understand that. Do I think we'll get consistency from that decision through all the season on the same thing? I'll be I'll be doubtful of that. The goalkeeper wouldn't have saved the goalkeeper wouldn't have saved the the header. Uh he get taken a little bit to the front post by the runner Brennan Johnson, but I don't see it was nothing like last year. Well, last year they were blocking the goalkeepers and doing all sorts of things. Nothing like that at all. So, but there's no doubt that Brennan was in an offside position, but did he did he interfere really? Was a goalkeeper ever going to save it? That would have been the bit I'm looking at, but ultimately it didn't it didn't make any difference to the result. Thank >> obviously David Moyes having a lot of his thoughts on the game on the V situation which denied Evan a second goal and obviously Tiano Barry a second goal and it was a it was a real like sort of kick in the teeth I think at the at the time Ev playing particularly bad at the moment and it was it was a perfectly good goal really disappointing for Barry as well to have that one choked off. It was a brilliant corner and a brilliant header right into the corner. There's no way the goalie would have saved in. It's really really poor that it got choked off when it went to V. Uh it never really should have gone that far and obviously manager there showing his thoughts on that. Uh the manager was also asked about the season so far. Here are his thoughts. >> Uh yeah, I think I think I would have to say yes in lots of cases. You know, would I draw at Tottenham and I draw Bournemouth? uh away from home which if you look at how Bournemouth are and I know Tottenham have lost today but in the main Tottenham's what they brought into the club you would expect them to be a difficult game for MD so we we've done we've done pretty well I think the clean sheets is something for us to uh be pleased about and try and build on if we can uh scoring the goals and we have you know even statistically we've been making much more chances I think today we had 21 shots but only two in target so that's not any good but the 21 shots is very good because in in our attempts at goal in all the games has been much much higher than it's been. So we're attempting to play in a way where we can get more chances try and produce more opportunities and in the main I think we have but we've not been taking them and I thought we missed a T missed a great header chance in the first half and in the second half Kieran misses a great header chance at the back post. Brennan another chance and Tyler Dibbling done really well. Had one good save and another couple of chances. So, we've been uh we've been doing a lot of good things, but I'd like it to been better today if I could have, but it was exactly the game I thought it would it would be. I switch won two games. Uh been really unfortunate in in a couple of games I've lost, been in it all the time. So, not for a minute did I think it would be any different than the way the game was. >> There you go. David Moyes happy, but he wants more. Uh I think that's clear that he wants more from the team. Uh more goals, more chances created. Um so satisfied, but he certainly wants more. And one of those players who could give him more goals and as I said previously was denied one on Saturday is Tiano Barry. Here's the manager's thoughts on him. >> He's doing really well. He's developing coming on. Uh I think coming into the into the Premier League as a striker for the first time is not an easy thing. We took it we took a bit of a risk at the time. We thought young striker, here we go. We'll have a go with it and see how it works. He had scored a decent amount of goals in in La Liga. Uh and he's developing and he's got an awful lot of really good attributes, but we're wanting them not to we want him to score. You know, we're saying my goodness and you get the opportunities why you could have easily scored. He should have scored his header today. Uh which would I think would have made the game 2-0 at that time I think. Uh so we just want those chance for him to try and take him. But I have to say he works really hard. He tries he tries to get himself the best and he's still he's still settling in but he's doing doing a good job. So there you go. The manager's thoughts on Tobo Barry. And you know what Tobo Barry should be on I I think he should be on double figures this season really. I think um opportunities he missed against Bournemouth. I think you know opportunities missed and taken away from him at the weekend. The one he had disallowed the one in the first half headed against Manchester United. I think he should have done better with I think I think you know he could he could either be like eight nine goals without without any issue really. Um and I think you know his XGS you know where he where he is and where he where he should be are are round about you know there as well. So, he does need to get better, but he is improving all the time. And, you know, obviously being Everton's only real striker affords him a lot more time on the pitch. And maybe you can feel a little bit more relaxed on the pitch as well, knowing that that's um his numbers not going to go to be subbed like it was last last season after 65 70 minutes. Um and then coming on for the last 20 25 minutes. So, that'll probably relax him as a footballer as well. So hopefully more to come from Ti Barry. James Garner has been called up to the England squad. Uh obviously I think they've got four games over the next couple of weekends in the Nations League. Um there's been quite a few dropouts and James Garn has been called up. Um hopefully I mean listen he's still not 100% fit. That's clear. So hopefully he goes there and has a little bit of game time. Um thought he struggled well certainly wasn't his best game on Saturday and it's that fitness that he's just that he's just needing. So be interested to see how much game time he gets. I imagine with England having so many games that they'll uh move the team around for for those games. Obviously he's joined in the squad by Jordan Pigford and Jared Branweight. um it's the most amount of effort plays in an England club for for some time. So um that shows what can what can happen and bit of inspiration maybe for Kenan Juj Hall there if he you know he still has still has those dreams of playing for England. So and anyone basically who signs for Evan as well that you know the opportunities are there to play for your country you know if you're playing well enough. So uh well done to James Garner. There's been some fixture changes today that could cause a little bit of trouble. Um, but the always the game against Coventry has been moved to Friday the 6th of November with an 8:00 kickoff that's going to be live on Sky. I It's better than being on a Monday night. That's what I would say. Although the game to at Brenford has been moved to a Monday night. That's on the 23rd of November. It's an 8:00 kickoff. Obviously, that'd be on Sky as well. And the Mside Derby has been switched to Sunday the 29th of November 12:00 p.m. kickoff. So noon kickoff for the derby on a Sunday. Um yeah, scandalous really scandalous really really poor um that be kicking off at that time. I think it's on TNT as well in the UK, which means it's not even like the first one of the first choice games of the weekend. Sky have passed over it for it to be on TNC. So, um 12:00 on a Sunday. Yeah, it's crap. Whichever way you cut it, it's rubbish, isn't it? Absolutely rubbish. So, um yeah, there you go. Those fixture changes have been made for November. And talking about fixtures finally there is a little bit of talk today that Everton will be playing Blackburn Rovers in a behind closed doors friendly in the next week or so. Uh while this international break is on obviously it's a longer international break. Two international breaks have been put together. Um so we've got this three-we break a couple of weekends and it's been reported that Everton will face Blackburn Rovers but nothing has been confirmed yet. There you go. Uh big thanks for watching.
