Video summary

The video explores a groundbreaking community mod for *The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild* that allows players to experience the game in Virtual Reality, transforming the third-person adventure into an immersive first-person journey. The creator expresses immense excitement about finally stepping directly into Hyrule, noting that while VR experiences like Nintendo Labo existed previously, this mod offers full control over Link's actions without the limitations of cardboard controllers. Despite acknowledging that Nintendo might frown upon such modifications, the host emphasizes the incredible passion of the fanbase for creating such an experience, which turns familiar gameplay mechanics into something truly special and liberating. However, the journey is not without its technical hurdles, as the game was not originally built with VR in mind, leading to several glitches that the creator humorously navigates throughout the session. Issues include controller disconnections caused by battery problems, getting stuck on ladders due to physics bugs, and limitations in moving objects horizontally with Magnesis, which requires awkward body pivoting instead of direct hand movement. Despite these frustrations, the mod provides unique "liberations" for every limitation, such as the ability to physically swing a bow with realistic weight and recoil, parry attacks by timing physical blocks, and summon shields instantly, all of which make combat feel significantly more dangerous and engaging because enemies appear much larger and more threatening when viewed from Link's perspective. Beyond the technical aspects, the VR experience deeply enhances the emotional impact and scale of *Breath of the Wild*, allowing players to appreciate the environment in a way that was previously impossible. The host describes moments of genuine awe while standing in ancient ruins, observing the devastation caused by Calamity Ganon, and feeling the fear of heights during free climbing sequences where a single slip could be fatal. This heightened sense of presence makes even mundane tasks like cooking, cutting down trees, or sailing small boats feel exhilarating and rewarding, turning simple puzzles into thrilling challenges that require creative thinking in real-time. Ultimately, the video concludes with a triumphant feeling after completing the Divine Beasts shrines and paragliding across Hyrule, marking a successful three-hour session that left the creator speechless and eager to explore further. The host credits the modders for their incredible work and expresses how rare it is to find a game that offers such depth and joy, especially when combined with the novelty of VR technology. Although there were crashes and minor bugs, the overall success of the experience validates the fans' dedication, proving that bringing *Breath of the Wild* into virtual reality creates a magical atmosphere that surpasses even the highest expectations for gaming immersion.

Imagine if you could step straight into the worlds of your favorite video games. I mean, I spent most of my childhood wishing that I could run with Link in Hyrule Field or join Sora in Hercules World. But back then, you know, in the '9s, in the 2000s, that was just a dream. Unless I wanted to strap a Virtual Boy to my head to play Mario Tennis, which I didn't. I didn't even know it existed, to be honest. If only I could know what it was like to step into the worlds of Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. Welcome to the video. A crazy, incredible mod just released for Breath of the Wild that allows you to play it in VR. This is something truly special because it's not like the Breath of the Wild VR that you did with Labo. This is actually taking you, the player, and putting you in full control of what is probably my favorite Zelda game next to Ocarina of Time. >> Wa! This dude's got a giant head. Wouldn't want to be a daddy. Oh, special. Oh. FOR FIRST TRY. >> But yeah, I do realize there is one giant glaring issue with me making a video about this. >> So over half a decade ago, I got dropped from the Nintendo Ambassador program. I know you're sick of hearing about it. I soured on the idea of modding on the channel. I I didn't want to do it cuz I knew that it upset Nintendo. But you can't give me Breath of the Wild in VR and expect me not to do it. Oh, actually, this is the smoothest it's been. Okay, so I've only been in this room. It was very important to me I don't leave this room. I wanted all my reactions to be ah wait I can't move my leg, but I can see my body. Oh my gosh, I'm so excited for this. Oo, I can't actually kick this chest. Unfortunately, I got pants and a shirt. Oh, I know Nintendo hates stuff like this, but the passion from the fans to do something like this is just so impressive. How do I climb? Do I just move towards it? It kind of just auto climbs. Speaking of fun games on the Switch 2, by the way, every time I jump back into Disney Dreamlight Valley, I remember how much content there is here, which is great news for two reasons. One, it's on sale right now. Cha-ching. And two, Gameloft is sponsoring this video, so it's a win-win. This game is essentially a massive life sim game, but with Disney and Pixar characters, and you can do whatever you want. That's actually one of the reasons I love this game the most. It's how unrestricting and how much freedom the game gives you that makes it fun, cuz yeah, you can mine, you can craft, you can fish, you can farm, you can do all that stuff, but you can also move anything around wherever you want. A lot of these life sim games can be really restrictive in what they allow you to do, but it feels like Disney Dream Life Valley just wants you to have fun. On top of that, there are so many daily missions and rewards and quests for you to do. It always feels like you're progressing towards something, and you can do it all at your own pace, which is a perfect game to play on the go. Here's one quest where I was helping Goofy find a bunch of rocks and iron for some reason, and then apparently it was to fix this raft. The raft took me to a random lonely island where I found Ariel. And then once I got back to my valley, I made her a house and she moved into it. And it runs and looks really good on Switch 2. And they're constantly adding new stuff, new characters, new quests, new biomes. So, if you're into all of that stuff, if you're into playing fun games, if you're into Disney and Pixar, if you're into one of the many other things I didn't even mention, like decorating your house or other people's houses or just being a busy body and cleaning up the town, there's so much junk to clean up. Then, how about you click the link in the description down below and check out the game. It's on sale for these dates and these places. Thank you so much to Gameloft for sponsoring the video and letting us know that this GREAT GAME IS ON SALE. IT'S ON SALE RIGHT NOW, Y'ALL. GO GET IT. SO, YES, I I mean, there are some obvious limitations here. The game wasn't built for VR. This VR mod was built around the game, but I will say to the mod's credit, for every limitation the game throws at you, it also gives you a liberation. Oh, oh, oh. Oh, that's sick. Woah. And it's panning up. Oh, that's awesome. The cutscenes treat you as the camera. Almost like you're viewing this adventure from the perfect angle. Okay, so I Yeah, again, I'm assuming I Oh, no. I did pick that up. Oh no, I broke my wrist. Oh, I broke it again. You know, I don't think that's the game glitching. I haven't used my VR in so long. The AA battery in this controller exploded and it was all rusty and I had to really finagle the battery to get it to work. And I think shaking it is dislodging the battery. That's going to be a pain if that's what's actually happening. So, yeah, that is the problem. And I I get so frustrated pretty early in this video that I end up fixing it. So, bear with me until then. So, I can It says A on the screen to grab that, but I can actually reach out and you and like close my fist and actually pick things up. Wo! You really don't realize how big his head is until you're in VR. This dude's got a giant head. Did I lose my stick? Oh, it's on my Oh. Wait, does that actually Oh, Mers, I don't know who you are, but I love you. Look at me cutting the grass. I like how outside my house right now, my lawn is so overgrown, and I I would do anything not to go and cut it, but here all day, baby. You come over here. Oh my god, my controller keeps cutting out. I can't even swing. I GOT TO SWING. AH, I got to swing gentle. Yes, the combat is sick. For one, I'll say the size of these creatures are so daunting and overwhelming. Link's a lot shorter than I realized he is. And as you're looking up at them, you get to freely just swing at them. You can attack them any way you want. So, if an enemy has a shield, you can just go around it. you can attack the other side of it, which I did not expect the VR to be able to handle things like that to be able to work with the game in this way. Now, do I have to be No, I don't. I can lit I can just hit them with one hand. >> Get out of my head. That's my acting. That's how I imagine he feels. For some reason, I remember the old man being up here. Uh-oh. That's not good. >> Oh, Santa. >> Oh, I didn't have to do all of this. That was just me getting immersed. >> Oh, let me in. >> Stepping into my first shrine in VR for the first time was such a cool feeling. I was stepping out into this big challenge to unlock an ability. And by the way, this ability is where you start realizing how perfectly suited this game is accidentally for VR. Whoa. Okay, that's not working. I can't actually Oh, hold on. Let me get the hang of this. And then So, I can freely move it up and down, but I can't move it left and right. I don't believe just moving objects around like you're a Jedi with your hand in the game. It feels like you have superpowers. >> That's going to take getting used to, but I I think eventually it'll be second nature. Excuse me. Another accidental superpower I had apparently was phasing through the floor because I fell behind a ladder and got stuck, which is a known glitch in the mod apparently. Oh no, I'm stuck. Get me out of here. Okay, I'm going to go back. Okay, that's annoying. I have to watch this cut scene again, I think. Hello. Don't tell me. Have I broken the whole game? I don't have the magnesus anymore. No, it is broken. I had to hard reset the game to get magnesus to work again after this. Please work. Please work. Please work. Okay. Woo. I was getting worried. All right. Not falling in that hole again. This is kind of hard. I'm not going to lie. I really wish I should be able to move it that way. I complain enough while I'm playing about Magnesus cuz as fun as it is to move it up and down and control it with your hand. For whatever reason, you just can't move it left or right. The only way I could get it to work is by pivoting and moving my whole body. Developers, if you're watching this, either tell me what I'm doing wrong or implement a way of moving left and right. Excuse me. Oh god, that hurts. God, this is this is impossible. I think I have to turn my whole body. Okay, now we're getting somewhere. And then cut it off. Okay, where even am I looking now? I feel like I'm Spider-Man trying to learn my powers for the first time. Let me open this door. OH, so that was frustrating. But what wasn't frustrating was the bow and arrow. This was crazy accurate and crazy easy to use. You even get to knock the arrows back and fire them like you would an actual bow. >> Sorry. Oh, give me that. Give me that. Why can't I? All right, never mind. Restless cricket. Didn't want that. Go away. I didn't grab that either. What am I? Get Did What am I holding? Sorry. Sorry. My controller keeps disconnecting. Attack. Attack. Attack. Attack. Attack. Oh my god. Please swing it. Thank you. This needs to get fixed. After this horrific mess of a fight with the skeletons, I fixed my controller and now we're good to go and that's not an issue anymore. And here I figured out finally how to switch between weapons. If you bring it behind your head and hold the trigger button, that brings up the weapon scroll and you can just scroll through that way. Oh my god, that's why I couldn't find it. Let's try actual combat, shall we? Without needing to worry about my controller. So much better. This really makes you realize how big these suckers are. Yeah, I feel like you don't get the weight of it when you're playing the game normally. These guys are huge. Now that I was getting further into the game and I'd figured out my controller issue, I was really getting immersed and starting to fully take in this experience. Like standing right here, I feel like I'm standing in ancient ruins of Hy Rollle. I I have so much more appreciation for it. And like I don't know why, but now I'm really I'm taking in the scope of the story. I can see Hyrule Castle infested with calamity right through what used to be a beautiful stone archway that clearly was destroyed by this guardian. And by the way, you whistle in this game by doing this, which that is so cool. As I said earlier, sometimes the game gives you a limitation and then immediately a liberation. I got to do it. Take that. Hello. Gotcha. I'll take that arrow. Nope. Nope. I want that arrow. All right. And I'm stuck in I'm stuck in the ladder again. Let me out. I'm in prison. But immediately after I learned how to cook just by holding and throwing my food into a pot. I'm going to use your little cooking pot here if that's okay. Baby smoosh. Do you want one? I'm already cooking. >> No. Okay. No. Nothing. I get nothing from you. Just stare at me without one creepy little human eye. That eye is way too realistic and humanl looking. You are just going to stare at me anywhere I go. Huh? That's kind of creepy. I don't know how I feel about that torch. Oh, Jesus Christ. I'm so I am so sorry. I actually jumped like my heart. I wasn't expecting him to jump up. Let's try cutting a tree down. Oh, and it's such a big tree. Again, you never realize the scale of this stuff. I'm a lumberjack. This is Oh, whoa. Whoa. Don't look down. I know I've said this already, but being in the game world gives you so much more appreciation for just the small things that you make Link do when you play the game and you don't even think about it. Like, climbing becomes second nature. But when I was actually halfway up that cliff face and looking down, realizing how scary it would be to actually be doing that free climbing, one slip and you're gone. Also, just like with the swimming, I don't need to be doing all of this. I'm just doing that for immersion. Don't don't don't look down. I actually My hands actually got sweaty when I looked at that. Oh, it just keeps going. The higher I climb, the more cliff gets revealed. I'm going to jump for it. That was honestly pretty cool. Okay, shrine two. Oh, actually, this is cool. I I kind of forgot about this ability. If I had to guess which ability was going to be the funnest, I would guess Magnesus. No, it is definitely stasis. Being able to stop time just by reaching out. Oh, I could cry. That's so cool. Oh, you know, just hanging around, not doing anything too special. Okay, now how DO I RELEASE? OH my god. Oh, wait. No, I'm on cool down. I'm on cool down. Oh. Oh. Let's see if I can get that chest, too. We're already in it at this point. Oh, that did actually hit me. Oh, sick. I haven't had a shield yet, have I? That just like gets summoned whenever I want and I can let it go. And then they said, >> you can hear it. That is the parry. >> Ooh. Oh, stop time. And then maybe like can I hit it this way? Oh, for whatever reason, that death crashed the game. I will say in the 3 hours I played, getting stuck in a ladder twice and this crash were the only hiccups I had. Everything else worked flawlessly. So, I'm going to take that as a pretty big success. >> Nope. Oh, don't you even think about it. See you. Hi. Who wants my All right. Who wants my hammer? Oh, first try. No way. The serotonin. I'm pretty sure there's just a Yeah, there's a path up here. I don't have to get too crazy. I think I can. Yo, I forgot how cold it was. If I can get to that, I can actually use the leaf to blow my way across. That would be incredible. Let's grab this leaf. And if you thought being creative in Breath of the Wild, finding unique and and out of the box ways to solve puzzles was fun normally, try doing that in first person VR. The simplest things become so exhilarating in the moment. Yes, I'm on my way. I don't know the words. And happiness is a deal. I'm on my way. >> This moment right here is genuinely one of the happiest moments I've had in gaming. I felt so rewarded in that moment. Oh, I'm like a ship captain of a very small boat. This is like an Assassin's Creed. I'm not going to do that again. Oh, you know what? I'm in no hurry. I can just sit and enjoy the ride. Breath of the Wild really is the game that just keeps on giving. I don't think I've enjoyed any video game as much as this. And I know again Nintendo, I know you hate this, but man, it is just so cool. I am kind of going away from where I want to go, though. There we go. What a view, too, huh? I can see so many towers from here. I can see the the divine beast. I can see the castle. I can see the volcano. I can see the dueling peaks over there. This is awesome. Now I'm ice man, dude. I am Iceman. Get down here. Oh, wait. Go back up. The ice ability is Oh, fine. You just you're just summing ice out of the ground. It's not as heart pumping exhilarating as the other two so far. But this does mean that I only have one shrine left to visit. All I have to do to get there is cross this small gap. Shouldn't be hard, right? Oh, yeah. Now you come over here and you sit. Get out. That was almost cool. Up. You know what? God damn it. I just want to get across. Oh, I hate I hate everything so much. >> Nope. Oh, finally. I don't remember this spot on the plateau. I don't I don't I don't don't think I usually come through here when I play. This looks like a stone talis is what I was about to say. I kind of want to try. How do I Okay. Oh, did I just one hit you, my guy? I'm sorry. Opal Topaz. Honestly, I thought that was never going to happen. We do way more damage in VR. I think they give you a VR buff. Isn't there an an active guardian over here somewhere? Hello. >> What was the timing on that? Um, CAN I RUN? THERE MIGHT BE AN ACTIVE GUARDIAN over here somewhere. >> The fourth shrine in my last ability was bomb. And I didn't expect bomb to be as fun as the other two that I really liked, but it was bomb bomb. Bomb bomb bomb. How would you like a bomb? How would you like a bomb? Drop it. There we go. And wouldn't want to be uh I got to do it again apparently, which I am not upset about. They call me the fastest guns in the west. I really got to wait a second apparently. I'm getting too eager. I love this. This is awesome. This is everything I ever wanted. The paraglider. How is that going to work? Maybe do a little jump. Well, off to Hyrule. Oh man. And I can just go wherever I want like this. This is so cool. I'm honestly I I'm just kind of speechless. It's so cool. Hyrule Kingdom. I did the entire plateau in VR. Just like that, I cleared the plateau and I landed boots down in Hyrule proper. And you know, it's funny because I'd been playing for like 3 hours up to this point. And I was feeling a little worn out, maybe a little dizzy. That's a lot of VR. And then as soon as I did hit that milestone, as soon as I did make it to high roll, I immediately went, well, now I want to keep playing because now the game has fully opened up and I can go anywhere and do anything in VR. What a fun way to experience an incredible video game. It was like 3 hours in VR. Look at me. So, that's Breath of the Wild in VR, and I just wanted to share it with you guys. And I want to thank the mods and whoever it is that made this. I just downloaded it myself. I I haven't talked to anybody. I'm shocked that I even managed to get it up and running myself. I'm not going to tell you how I did it on my Switch, too, of course, but this just felt like something that I wanted to share with you guys because it's it just felt like something special. I love Zelda and I love Breath of the Wild. I've also always loved VR. Having these two things come together and getting to experience this was just fun. I make videos about things that I find fun. So, I wanted to make I wanted to make a fun video. Did I?
