Is the Big Figs Optimus Prime Actually Worth It? Full Review!
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The video provides an enthusiastic review of the newly released Transformers Big Fig Optimus Prime, a massive figure that has recently appeared in Target stores at a surprisingly low price point of $34.99. The reviewer notes the chaotic availability of this item, observing how it frequently goes out of stock only to reappear days later, leading many collectors to pay inflated scalper prices on eBay. Despite the logistical challenges of ordering from a distant location, the reviewer managed to secure one directly from Target's website, discovering that despite warnings about shipping without a box, the figure arrived safely in its packaging and remained in excellent condition.
Upon unboxing, the figure is revealed to be a faithful representation of the animated version of Optimus Prime, featuring vibrant colors, detailed paint applications, and specific decals for the windows and insignias. The toy comes with no additional accessories or extra parts, focusing entirely on the character itself. While the reviewer praises the high-quality detailing, including the gray crest, blue head, and silver smoke stacks, they do mention seeing some minor bubbling in the window decals, a complaint echoed by other buyers online. The articulation is described as functional but limited, with a fully rotating head, movable arms and elbows, and knee bends, though the legs are largely fixed due to internal structural constraints that some fans have attempted to modify for better poseability.
A significant portion of the review is dedicated to highlighting the sheer scale of this new figure through direct comparisons with other popular Transformers toys. The Big Fig Optimus Prime towers over Generation One and Studio Series versions, even surpassing the large Fortress Maximus from the Titans Return line in height. Although some collectors are disappointed that the figure does not transform, the reviewer argues that for many fans, the character's presence is more important than transformation mechanics, noting that it can still be converted into a ship mode by laying it on its stomach with arms raised. The video concludes with plans to customize the figure with 3D-printed weapons and an American flag, emphasizing that this unique and quirky giant is a must-have for any collection despite its size making it difficult to display in standard frames.

The feature bot in this video is the
brand new Transformers
Big Fig Optimus Prime. Is it just me or
did this thing just appear out of
nowhere? I know we had the passing of
Peter Cullen and it was just like a
couple days later I'm seeing Facebook
posts and Instagram reels and YouTube
videos of this guy showing up at Targets
on this huge Transformers 40th
anniversary display. And then of course
what I'm reading is people are buying
him up immediately because this
ginormous figure is only $34.99.
people are buying him up immediately,
throwing him on eBay for like 200 and
some dollars. Um,
everybody was just going on and on about
these figures and then they would
randomly show up in Targets again and
then disappear again, so on and so
forth. Now, I liked it, but it was one
of these things that I figured I would
never get because my nearest Target is
two hours away. Now, I do have friends
that live near Targets and they promised
me, "Hey, if we see or if we see one,
we'll get them for you." So, a buddy of
mine Wednesday
sent a message to me and says, "Hey,
he's online. I ordered one and I also
have one to pick up in store. Uh, do you
want me to get you one?" And I
misunderstood him. I thought he said,
"Hey, they're online." So, I go on
target.com. He is available, shipped
right to me, $34.99, not paying the
scalper prices. So, uh, yeah, here he
is. Now, what really surprised me is on
Target's website, they said he will ship
asis, not in a box. And I thought, oh
god, coming via FedEx, he's going to be
beat all to hell. But he actually did
ship in a box and came in pretty good
condition. And uh like I said, I cannot
get over how big this figure is and how
heavy it is. This guy has got some
weight to him. So, as you can see, he's
based on the animated version of Optimus
Prime. He looks really good. Very
bright. Let's take a look at the
packaging. It's just this cardboard box
that he's standing in. We got
Transformers the movie. Great looking
artwork of the Autobots versus the
Decepticons. 40 years right there. Big
Figs Optimus Prime
Shoo Papa. I've never heard of that
before. Let's see. This side of the box,
that's Prime. That side of the box is
Prime. Back of the packaging is product
shots of Prime. So, if you're not sure
what he is, yeah, there it is on the
back. Um,
I'm not sure what all that. Maybe those
are points articulation. So, he's got 10
points of articulation.
So now without further ado, let's get
this big fig opened up out of this
packaging and check him out. Don't
forget to like, don't forget to

Now, once you get your Big Fig Optimus
Prime all opened up and out of the
packaging, you'll see well, what you saw
is what you get. There's nothing extra.
There's no extra accessories or
anything. Just this big ginormous
Optimus Prime. And like I mentioned
earlier, he's based on the cartoon look.
And I think he looks fantastic. I can
tell right here the windows, these are
decals. Now, I did see a few complaints
online that some people were getting
these and the decals were messed up. I
can see a little bit of bubbling in
here. Uh, some people mentioned maybe
Toy Hacks would put out a set for this.
I honestly don't see Toy Hacks putting
out a decal set for this guy, but you
never know. They may just give us the
window decals. Great looking paint
applications. The head is blue. We got
this gray right there for the crest. The
gray mouth. Some light blue eyes right
there. Yellow for the lights. The
Autobot insignas are white. We got the
yellow on the forearms. The white here.
Gray. Got the little windshield wipers
right there. That's cool. Uh let's see.
Yellow for the belt. We got the blue
crotch. Moving on down, we got silver
with the gas tanks. And we got silver
for the toes. And that's it. I mean,
he's got lots and lots of great
detailing. I know you got silver for the
smoke stacks as well. So, he looks
great. I have no idea where I'm going to
put him. Uh, articulation, the head can
rotate. Can do a complete 360 if you
want. The arms can rotate. There is a
elbow bend. There is a wrist rotation.
Now, I'm sure a lot of you may have seen
where somebody had this guy, I think he
was posed like so. Turn the fist around.
This guy had a dowo rod in his hands and
made him a giant Optimus Prime toilet
paper holder. So, there's a thought. So,
let's see. Articulation. Where did I
stop? Legs.
Uh,
the legs don't move, but there is a knee
bend, so he can do that. And I guess
that's it. Now, the hips
are flared out, so I think there may at
some point been some leg articulation.
I'm trying. No, it's they're not moving
at all. Now, a buddy of mine on
Facebook, I saw somebody mod this that
apparently
there's a square hole in a round peg or
round peg in a square hole, something
that's keeping this from moving and the
individual cut a hole so the leg can
move. So, there's an option for you if
you want your Prime to have a lot of
articulation. For me, I don't care
because he's going to be sitting over
there in the corner. So, getting on to
the size of this guy. It's not a Patriot
Prime review video without a quick size
comparison. So, here's the brand new Big
Figs Optimus Prime with
Generation One Optimus Prime
and Studio Series 86 Optimus Prime. So,
this guy is a little big. And just
because I've got a joke for you, I have
my brand new Titans Return Fortress
Maximus. Big Fig Prime
towers over Fortress Maximus. Without a
doubt, this has to be one of the largest
Transformer figures I ever seen. Other
than that giant 4 foot Metroplex I saw
at TFcon. So, a lot of people online, I
don't want to get this figure because it
doesn't transform. Who cares? You know,
a lot of folks uh Transformer fans, it's
not only about the toys that we're
collecting. It's the characters. It's
the character of Optimus Prime that we
want in our collection. But if you're
that picky, he does transform pretty
much the same way Fortress Maximus here
does. Take the arms, bring them all the
way up
just like so,
and lay him on his stomach. And there's
ship mode.
Pretty much just like old Fortress
Maximus how he transforms. Now, he does
have a kind of a little bit of a
backwards elbow bend right there. So,
maybe that was just for shipping. But
yeah, man, I I love this guy. I think
he's awesome. I do have a friend of
mine, Fire Talks, who is already working
on some 3D printed guns for Prime. So, I
plan on giving him a rifle real soon,
and maybe I'll put an American flag in
his hand, and he could be my new uh
Well, that's not going to work. He is
too big to have in frame even for my
promo shots. So anyway guys, there is
the brand new Big Fig Optimus Prime.
He's unique. He's quirky. I absolutely
love this. Keep an eye out uh at your
local Target. Keep uh checking the
Target website. Uh he was out of stock
one day, appeared in stock the next, and
he's out of stock again. Don't pay the
scalper prices. This guy retails for
$34.99.
So, hold up. I'm sure you'll get one.
