Inside the WETTEST Village on Earth ๐ฑ (40ft Rain Per Year!) [๐ฎ๐ณ36]
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The video documents episode 36 of a motorcycle adventure through northeastern India, where the hosts are still recovering from a severe bout of flu that kept them in bed for a week before they could resume their journey. Despite feeling weak and lacking energy due to lingering coughs, they press on toward Noalikai Falls, hoping to catch a glimpse of India's tallest plunge waterfall, which stands at an impressive 1,115 feet. The morning begins with thick fog that obscures visibility, causing significant worry for the riders who need clear views to appreciate the landscape. However, the weather eventually clears up just enough for them to witness the spectacular cascade and the surrounding canyon, providing a morale boost after their illness. They also encounter two German-speaking locals in the area who are learning the language out of curiosity, adding a charming and random element to their exploration of this rugged terrain.
After visiting the waterfall, the riders set off toward Mousin Ram, a town officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the wettest place on Earth. The journey takes them through stunning countryside with blue skies and sunshine, defying expectations for such a famous rainy region. Upon arriving in Mousin Ram, they discover that it is not currently raining, which initially disappoints them since they had imagined umbrellas everywhere. They locate the official sign marking the town's status and find a location near a PWD inspection bungalow where rainfall measurements are likely taken. The hosts explain the unique geography of the area, noting that warm moist air from the Bay of Bengal is funneled by the east-west alignment of the Khasi Hills, forcing the air upward to cool and condense into heavy rain.
Although they do not experience rain during their daytime visit, the video concludes with a dramatic shift in weather as evening falls. The hosts express relief and excitement when it finally starts to rain heavily, confirming the town's reputation as the wettest place on Earth. They settle into their new accommodation, a twin room that looks unfinished but is clean and comfortable, allowing them to rest after a long day of riding and filming. With their camera cards full of footage from this epic landscape, they prepare to upload their content while hoping for better weather conditions the next day to continue their adventure. The episode ends on a high note with the onset of a crazy rainstorm, validating their journey to this legendary location despite the earlier struggles with illness and fog.

So, my plan this morning was to come out
here and show you guys this awesome
canyon view. But, oh, that's a big drop.
It is completely cloudy.
Oh, Mega is just kicking us whilst we're
down. [snorts]
First, we get the flu and now we get
fog.
Mega, what are you doing to us?
And although I'm feeling definitely a
bit better today, Lavy is not feeling
great still. She was coughing a lot last
night, like pretty much the whole night
coughing. So, we're definitely going to
go and see if we can get some cough
medicine for her for tonight. But, it
has been a bit of a struggle this
morning to get ourselves up, get
ourselves ready. I mean, it's like it's
quart 11 now.
>> Hi, sweetheart. Hi.
>> Oh, maybe it is actually clearing up a
little bit.
Oh, yes. Look at that. No way.
Seriously, 5 minutes ago I came here and
you could see absolutely nothing. That's
a good sign. Thank you, Megala. I accept
your apology.
Good morning, world. Welcome back to the
channel. It's ride number 36 on our
motorcycle adventure exploring [music]
the northeast of India.
>> And we are here this morning in
Cherapuni in the state of Megala road to
Noalikai Falls. Okay, this is the way.
And if you didn't see our previous
episode, I'll just update you. [music]
We're both getting over what was a
really, really bad bout of flu. We'd
both been in bed for a whole week before
uh hitting the road yesterday.
>> Yes. And unfortunately, I haven't yet
fully recovered. Like my coughing is so
[music] bad.
>> 7 days in bed. And even now, we're just
about able to continue the journey.
>> Yeah.
>> But we're still Yeah. pretty lacking on
energy.
>> We don't really have like many spare
days left. So, we have to push through
it now.
>> Yeah. Because our visa for India is only
90 days. That's 90 days since we came
back from Bhutan because that's when our
visa got reset. And uh that time is
rapidly running out. Oh, look at this.
>> That's nice.
>> Some hills. And actually, it looks a lot
clearer over this side.
>> Yeah,
>> we were just really worried this morning
because everything was super foggy. And
the place we're heading to now is a
viewpoint to see India's tallest plunge
waterfall, Nocalai [music]
Falls. And of course, a viewpoint relies
on you actually being able to see the
thing that you're viewing. And we saw on
the map that the viewpoint is a little
[music] bit far away from the waterfall
itself. So, we're really hoping that we
don't have fog and we can actually see
this waterfall this morning. You can
[music] hike up to the waterfall itself,
but in our condition at the moment,
there is no chance that we could make
[music] that hike.
But after heading to this waterfall,
we're going to be heading to another
place that is very wet. So, let me show
you where we're heading today. So, we
are here in Cherapuni. And today, we
will be riding to a town called Morsin
Ram, known as the wetest place on Earth.
Yes, Morsin Ram has the official
Guinness World Record as being the
wetest place in the entire world. But
I'll tell you more about that place when
we get there. First, let's go see a
giant waterfall.
So, here is where the trekking to the
waterfall is.
No thank you. But apparently, the
viewpoint is coming up just ahead. So,
the waterfall should be somewhere down
there. Oh, please don't be foggy. Please
don't be foggy.
>> So, we just park over there.
>> Okay. Thank you.
Okay. here.
Oh, wait. Before we see the waterfall,
we have to see the sign. No Calalakai
Falls is one of India's tallest plunge
waterfalls at around 1,115
ft. All right. Yeah. Let's see if we can
get a view.
>> Please, please, please, please be a
view. Please, please, please, please be
a view.
>> Oh, wow.
>> Wow. Is that nice?
>> That is a crazy waterfall.
>> And the water down there looks so blue.
It looks like crystal blue water down
there.
>> Are you sure you don't want to take the
hike to the bottom?
>> You can just throw me off here if you
want.
>> [music]
>> No way.
>> Beautiful. Wow. What a nice canyon. What
a nice place. I can't believe it. So, so
beautiful. Wow.
>> Yeah. It's not just the waterfall, which
is awesome, but this whole landscape,
it's just epic. [music]
>> Yeah. I'm so happy that we can see
something. Wow.
At a height of 1,115
ft, this is the tallest plunge waterfall
in the whole of India. Nocalikai falls.
And apparently the name Noalikai in the
local Kazzy language means the jump of
Kalikai. And it comes from a tragic
Kazzy legend. Kalik Kai after
experiencing a personal tragedy leaped
off the edge of this cliff and the
waterfall was named in her memory. It's
a hell of a plunge.
>> At least that's one win for us,
sweetheart.
>> Yes.
>> Yeah.
>> We got to see the waterfall at least. I
was really worried this morning. Maybe
this is the start of things getting a
bit better. Lavy's getting us new
subscribers at the waterfall.
>> Hi.
>> Hi. And you guys speak German? I heard
you speaking German.
>> German.
>> Why do you speak German?
[music]
gloroo. [singing]
[music]
>> Goodbye. No Calikai
>> was very very very very nice to visit
you.
>> Yeah, that was a really cool place and a
quite nice little area with loads of
little shops and a cafe
>> and the speaking German girls. I was
really surprised and I think it's really
cute that they said, "Oh, I really like
the language, so we decided to learn
German." It's so random, but so nice.
Was nice to talk to you.
>> So, they didn't live in Germany at all?
>> No.
>> No way. That's pretty random. So, there
we go. I'm glad we had a successful
visit this morning. I think we really
[music] needed that for our morale,
>> for our traveler spirit.
>> Yeah, it definitely gives you a boost to
see something that or inspiring, that
amazing.
>> Mega, the land of the valleys and
canyons and waterfalls
>> and rain. And that is what we're going
to be exploring this afternoon. The
rainiest place in the entire world. I
don't know if it's a good idea to go to
the rainiest place in the whole world on
motorbikes. You know, we're probably
going to get rained on when we get
there. Tiny bit further. Oh, wait for
these cars. Look at these little cars.
They look awesome.
>> You come back. Here's the one way.
>> Okay, one way apparently. All right,
let's see if we can turn around.
Well, I'm stuck. [snorts]
Here
you go. Ready? 3 2 1 go.
Okay, you good? Okay.
Okay.
So, we've bought some Gulfadril, which
is like a cough expectctorant. Effective
against cough and runny nose. So, try
that. Hopefully, that will help a bit.
>> Yeah. If it tastes bad, then it means
it's good. Just have like three or four
sips of that. Now,
>> down it. Down it.
A disgusting.
Let's hope for the best. I mean, the
coughing was so bad, especially during
the night. So, I really hope that helps.
>> Oh, wow. There's another waterfall down
there. It's a bit far away to get it on
the GoPro, but man, that looks really
impressive as well.
Oh my god, the landscapes around
Cherupji are just crazy.
So, the bikers here said that we could
see the waterfall from over here.
Let's check it out. Oh, yeah.
There you go. This is a massive cliff,
so just be really careful.
>> Yeah, that's nice.
>> There you go.
>> Nice.
>> The land of waterfalls. I mean, the
geology of this area is just everywhere
that we're riding, suddenly there's just
a giant canyon on the left, a giant
canyon on the right.
>> [music]
>> It's insane.
>> [music]
[music]
>> So, we have just turned off the main
roads and are now on the road towards
Mousin Ram. And it's a lovely little
countryside road here as well. Look at
this. All these beautiful fields around.
Hello.
And still we have blue skies and
sunshine. Can you believe it? Heading to
the wetest place in the world. We have
blue skies. Today might just be our
lucky day.
>> Are you ready for your motorcycle
adventure of a lifetime?
>> Then why not join us on one of our
incredible guided tours this year? We
have two tours running. the first in
September where we'll be riding across
the Tibetan plateau through epic
landscapes, visiting ancient
monasteries, and even visiting the Mount
Everest base camp. Then in November,
[music]
we head to Sri Lanka, riding through
lush rainforests, exploring the island's
rich history, and even sharing the road
with elephants. On these tours, we will
dive deeper into the culture and
incredible places that we'll ride
through. Ollie is basically a walking
Wikipedia. So you will hear the [music]
stories and history behind everything we
see. Plus the whole tour is run in
partnership with Extreme Bike Tours who
have [music] many many years of
experience running tours. So they take
care of everything. They'll always make
sure we stay in the best [music]
handpicked hotels and enjoy the best
food along the way.
>> If adventures like this [music] excite
you, then join us and let us guide you
through these once in a-lifetime

>> We can't wait to see you guys on these
next adventures. See you on the road.
>> So, we're just stopping for a little
snack break here in this nice little
village. And we have found this place.
>> Hello.
>> Hello. What is inside this one?
>> Plain puff.
>> Plain. What is inside this one?
>> Chicken puff.
>> Chicken puff. Ah, okay.
>> Veg puff.
>> And this one. Veg puff. I think I'm
going to try veg puff. Maybe a veg puff
and maybe a donut. What do you think?
>> I think that sounds like a good idea, my
love.
>> You want a veg puff as well?
>> Yeah. What do you want?
>> Yeah. That looks like a really nice
pastry.
>> Did you actually get through to the
stuff in the middle? Just about.
>> Very nice and fluffy.
>> That's a lot of puff to your pastry,
isn't it? I've never seen such a fluffy
pastry.
>> Very crumbly.
>> Wa! Look at this. We just came over the
hill and the atmosphere is changing
really fast. And I just saw a sign back
there that said now entering Malson Ram
district. So it's crazy. We just came
into the area of Malson Ram. We're
already seeing the sky going dark, the
clouds forming. Welcome to the wetest
region in the world.
Oh no, look. We just came over the hill
and there are now blue skies again in
front. All right then. Mealo is just
playing with us today. Just playing with
us. WA. We've got some views, too. I
have no idea what, but it looks like a
big drop down there.
>> Yeah, we really can't see much at the
moment. It's really cloudy and misty.
>> Yeah, but it's an epic landscape around
here.
>> Yeah. Nice.
>> So rocky and hilly. Oh, there's a view.
Oh, yeah. Look at that. Nice.
Look at this rock formation up here.
It's just like
>> beautiful
>> where the waterfall was. Just a big
shelf of rock overhanging. Look at that.
No way. And we are right on the edge of
a big valley again. Wow. Mega is just
full of hills and valleys. And we're
getting close now. We're only 11
kilometers from Mousen Ram. It looks
like steam rising up from the valley.
That's crazy. Wow. this last bit of the
ride. This is definitely the most epic.
What a spectacular way to finish the
day. And it's still not raining, guys.
Yes, still not raining.
All right, guys. I think this is it.
This town up here, this is Mossen Ram.
Let's go see what the wetest town in the
world looks like.
>> We have arrived. And can you believe it?
It's not raining.
>> And I didn't really know what to expect
from the wetest place in the world, but
it just looks like a normal town.
>> Yeah, maybe. I was hoping for more like
umbrellas everywhere.
>> Like a place full of umbrella shops. But
there is one place specifically that
we're heading in this town because we
saw on Google Maps that there is a sign.
And you know I love signs. Oh wow. Look
at these views.
>> Oh wow.
>> Wow. I didn't expect that. Nice.
>> Wow. Wow. Wow. How pretty.
>> It looks like we've kind of gone out of
town. But according to Google, the sign
is coming up just here on the left.
Where is the sign? Where is the sign?
I see [clears throat] it. This such a
weird place to put the sign. I have no
idea who put this here. Oh wow. But it
is on the edge of a beautiful valley.
Look at that.
>> Wow. This area is really, really, really
stunning.
>> We're just outside of the PWD inspection
bungalow. Such a random place. But here
we are. Should we go check out the sign?
>> Let's have a look. Okay,
>> may as well. We came all this way. At
least if it's not raining, we can point
at the sign as evidence. Oh, don't tell
me the gate is locked. Is it locked?
>> What is the point in that? Hey,
>> anyway, there it is. Morin Ram, the
wetest place on Earth. And then here, it
looks like they have some jugs. Maybe
this is where they measured the
rainfall.
>> Oh, maybe.
>> Maybe this is actually where they did
the Guinness World Record. It's not just
like a claim to fame.
>> Yeah.
>> It's been approved by Guinness
>> just like us. The coolest couple in the
on motorcycle. What What was our record?
>> Coolest couple by motorcycle. Sweetie,
we made it.
>> Very good. I'm really happy about that.
>> And the weather's almost unbelievable to
be honest. I think I would have been
glad if it was raining and glad if it
wasn't.
>> I think I prefer this way without rain
>> probably.
Did you know that Morrison Ram receives
an average of 12 m of rain a year? 12 m.
And it also has the record of having the
most rain in 24 hours. Over a meter. And
this place here is a good [music] place
to demonstrate exactly why this area is
the wetest region in the whole world.
And it's because of these giant hills
and cliffs in front of me. These are the
Kazzy Hills. Now what happens is warm
moist air comes up from the Bay of
Bengal [music] and gets funneled towards
this region. And the alignment of these
hills from east to west places [music]
them directly in the path of the air
flow. And as soon as that air hits these
hills, it is forced upwards and that
causes it to cool and condense. And that
condensation
is up there. Clouds and eventually rain.
[music] And apparently here a lot of it,
but apparently not today. All right, our
accommodation should be just up here. A
and our home stay.
Yes, here we are.
Oh, it looks brand new. It actually
looks like they haven't finished
building it yet. Yeah, it's true.
>> It's time to go back to bed.
>> Good evening, guys. We made it happy and
alive to our accommodation. Check this
out. We decided to go for the twin room
tonight so that we had the best chance
of a good night's sleep. And Lavy's
already here snug like a bug in a rug.
Just a little face poking out.
Oh, sweetheart. You did really good
today, my love, didn't we? Didn't we get
to the wetest place? Hey.
>> Yeah, that's nice. Now, the places we
visited, they were really, really
beautiful. And I'm really happy that we
could see them, but I feel really bad as
well.
>> But it's quite early, so I think just
stay where you are. And tomorrow
hopefully will be a better day. We've
just got our mega charging and uploading
station on the go here. Got [snorts]
some video importing there. Oh my god,
look at that.
151 gig, 2 hours. And that's just for
one card as well. That's just for my
Insta 360 card. We've got everything
charging here on our multi-charger. And
then over here, we've got
two chairs. And then this is the
bathroom.
There you go.
Look at that. [music] For such a remote
place, it's a pretty nice room. So, that
is it, guys. from the wetest but not
currently wet [music] place in the
world. And that's it from us today. We
hope you enjoyed the video. If so,
please give us a thumbs up, subscribe to
the channel, share the video with your
friends and family, comment below, and
we'll see you next time.
Finally happened.
It has started raining in the wetest
place in the world.
I'm glad it finally did happen.
No way. Did you see that?
Woo!
I think a crazy rainstorm is coming
tonight.
