Video summary
The India Chapter's weekly meeting on August 13th focused primarily on organizing the upcoming DevCon and integrating hackathon concepts into regional events. Participants discussed a structured timeline where idea submissions are expected to open around August 24th, with finalists selected before November for a three-day workshop in Mumbai. The conversation highlighted the need to scrutinize teams through multiple levels of evaluation prior to the final event, ensuring that only top contenders proceed to compete at DevCon. Attendees also addressed logistical concerns regarding sponsorships for accommodation and other support services required by finalist teams during their stay.
A significant portion of the discussion centered on consolidating various planning documents created by different team members, specifically Sagar and Ankita. While one document outlined a detailed flow for the main event including talks, hands-on sessions, live demos, games, and Q&A across four thematic days—analytics, open finance, enterprise, and open source—the group identified separate lists of hackathon tracks that needed integration. The team decided to merge these disparate track suggestions into a single Google Drive document using an existing format from Hyperledger India's previous planning sheets. This consolidation aims to create a comprehensive resource where any member can contribute additional ideas or problem statements for the upcoming competitions.
The meeting also provided updates on individual well-being, with several members sharing personal health challenges related to spinal issues and recovery efforts before rejoining active participation in calls. Despite these difficulties, there was a supportive atmosphere as colleagues encouraged one another and offered flexibility regarding attendance and contributions. The group agreed that while specific regional meetup documents might differ slightly from the main DevCon plan, all initiatives should align with the broader goal of fostering community engagement through structured hackathons leading up to November's major event.
In conclusion, the chapter moved forward by establishing a clear roadmap for idea submission starting late August and finalizing participant shortlists before the end of September. The team resolved to adopt a unified document structure that combines all proposed hackathon tracks into one accessible platform, ensuring transparency and collaborative input from everyone involved. By following patterns set by successful events like Hacker House in Goa, where ten finalist teams are selected for the main competition, India Chapter aims to replicate this model effectively. As the meeting ended with mutual thanks and farewells, participants were left with a shared understanding of their roles in executing these plans over the coming month.

>> Hey Kamalaish.
>> Uh hi.
Hi Anusha, how are you?
>> Yeah, okay.
>> Okay, nice.
>> Not good actually, but like uh
going on?
>> Yeah, all good.
>> Okay. And today anybody joining, like
any idea?
Or they already left?
>> No, they nobody joined yet.
>> Hello, good afternoon.
>> Yeah, hi Anusha. Hi Ritu.
>> Hey.
>> Hey hello.
>> Afternoon, how are you?
>> I'm
I'm trying to get well.
Not that
>> [clears throat]
>> You are also?
>> [laughter]
>> Yeah,
not that well, but I was missing all the
action all this while, so I thought I'll
just keep myself on mute, but at least
listen to what's happening.
>> Yeah.
Is it Is it recording?
>> Uh
yeah.
>> Yeah.
So then I'll call you and ask what
happened.
>> [laughter]
>> All right.
>> I do have like
very pathetic condition.
Oh my god, let's see how it goes.
>> Well, you're still smiling which is a
great thing to have.
>> Mhm.
My back elevated.
>> Oh.
>> Very really.
>> How are you now?
>> Not able to walk, not able to stand,
not able to sleep.
>> Hi Anasuya. Hi Kamlesh. Hi
>> Mhm. How are you?
>> I'm good.
How's your health, Anasuya?
>> [laughter]
>> Going on, dear. Not good.
>> Oh.
What happened?
>> My spinal issue elevated very badly.
>> Oh my god.
Take care of yourself.
Hi Navya. Navya is also joined, I think.
>> Hi Navya.
>> Hey, hi Anasuya. Hi Varima. Hi everyone.
>> Hi.
>> Hi Navya. You were in the
call on that day, right? I couldn't join
on that day last Monday, I believe.
Monday, Tuesday, or Saturday, something.
>> Yeah, we had a call on Sunday. Yes, yes,
last Sunday.
>> Yeah, yeah, yeah.
>> Yes.
>> So, can you give the updates after that?
I couldn't call Karthikeya, also.
>> Yeah, yeah. So, majorly we were listing
out for the hackathon, right?
What could be the tracks and how we can
organize
before the regional events, where we can
ideally
inline these hackathon concepts within
the original chapters as well.
That is what Sagar was trying to do.
I was just trying to
bring up some hackathon tracks
including like AI and blockchain. I just
listed out five six tracks. So once I
think Karthikeya
Sagar is here, I'll share this with
them.
>> Yeah, that's good. That's good.
>> Yeah, good.
>> So so
about this Devcon, what's planning? How
are we doing it?
>> Yeah, I think for Devcon from
September 1st, the idea submission not
September 1st, sorry, August 24th, I
think we have decided. I mean the plan
the document of the plan, right? I think
Sagar has that a document. But ideally
24th or 25th of August will
release on the link in the social media
where people can start submitting their
ideas. I think in the November is where
the final round we have like for three
days of workshop. But before that we
need to finish all the other levels of
like scrutinizing the teams
after post the submit the ideas and then
all the like levels like level one level
two level three we have to do before
November.
So
Yeah, I mean that's that was the plan.
I do not have the access to the document
of
>> that specific document.
>> the document is here only. One minute.
>> Okay.
>> Julian will share the link. shared last
time.
Mhm, no.
Here it could be.
Mhm, this one, right? You mean the same,
correct?
>> Um, yeah, yeah.
Uh, I mean, yeah,
this is I think what Julian shared in
the last meeting, but there is another
document which Sagar had where we were
listing out what are the tracks for the
DevCon along with
uh when can we start
or give the
timeline for the participants
for submitting the ideas, right? So,
there was a different document, I guess,
which Sagar had.
>> was Sagar was different. Sagar document
is different.
>> Yeah, yeah, yeah.
>> Let me check here shared with us.
>> I think couple of things we discussed,
key this is the these are the main dates
we need to
consider where you're organizing some
some places.
>> Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I mean, this was with
yeah, with Julian we were doing, right?
>> Mhm, so now so
Sagar is planning for this 8 and 11
September.
>> Huh.
>> This period.
>> So, what entirely they want to do is
before the November, right? We were just
discussing that whether the sponsor will
be okay to
sponsor for the accommodation and so on
and so forth for the finalists.
And second was before November itself we
have to scrutinize the top five or top
10 teams for uh DevCon.
But before that uh with the time we
have, uh we were discussing to finalize
the date, which can be like August 24th
to September 20th or 24th, where the
people can uh start submitting their
ideas, and then uh
uh send uh submitting their prototypes.
All that. But yeah, I mean, there was a
document where we have listed out the
>> share. Let me share. I have the
document. Let me share it. Give me a
second.
I have the document which
he has shared. Because he shared with me
that day
uh
One second. Let me share my screen.
Uh
allow me to share share. I think who's
the host? Okay, now I can share.
Okay, is it visible?
>> Um not yet.
>> Now?
>> Yeah.
>> So, this is the Swagger document,
basically.
Uh he has shared.
The flow he has created, basically. The
flow part he has created.
Welcome, then quick hello, icebreaker,
then 10 talks.
>> Yeah.
>> Right. Also, easy hands-on sessions.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Actually, Ankita and Sagar, they
have both contributed to the document.
Then lunch and meet up, the live demos
after that from 2:30, fun games
with small prizes, and then 3:30, open
chat and Q&A. Then 4:30, hangout and
help desk. So, day one, analytics, day
two,
uh like open finance, day three,
enterprise, day four, open source and
community.
So, that's what was planned, actually.
>> Yeah, I think that one for the
final one in November, right?
>> Correct. Correct. This is for the final
one. Yeah.
>> basically. November.
>> Yeah, apart from November, for the
regional chapters like the regional
meetups, I think there is another
document, I guess. Because yeah, for
this November we were thinking to start
around August for all the submissions,
level one, level two, level three
scrutiny uh before November itself. But
they're gone.
But
yeah, I think for the his regional
chapter as well, I mean regional meetup,
he had a different document, I believe.
>> Uh I will tell let me check with him.
Because he had a couple of documents.
Uh
>> Yeah, that had few where he has listed
out few uh
uh what we call the hackathon tracks.
So, I just pinged few more hackathon
tracks here.
>> Okay.
Okay, let me check the second document
also.
We can check with him, Sagar. Right now,
I'm not able to find out the other
document.
But he has some document. Who was
sharing that day?
>> Yeah, yeah.
Uh where he ideally listed out few
hackathon tracks. So, I just pinged few
more hackathon tracks. I pinged
Karthikeyan as well the same.
>> Yes, yes, Karthikeyan has sent.
>> Yes, yes, Karthikeyan sir.
>> Are there some problem statement you
shared with Navya, right?
>> Yes,
yeah, yeah. So, there are six
categories, I think.
Zoom did not allow me to
paste everything, but
uh
>> Uh you can you can put it in a doc and
uh then share. Let me Give me a second.
Let me create a doc with the open link.
Anybody can contribute then in that doc
you can do.
>> Yeah, yeah.
>> Give me a second.
So, I'm just making it open to everyone.
Uh so, anybody can contribute.
I'm sharing the link with you, Navya.
So,
Uh one second.
>> Okay.
>> I'm sharing on the chat window, so you
can put details here in this doc, okay?
Uh uh everybody with the same link can
see.
>> Yeah, just a moment.
>> Yeah, sorry. This one. Game order, yes,
I can see that. So, six you
>> So now
there is a there is a
in the Hyperledger India earlier we we
had a proper hackathon planning sheet.
Maybe instead of
we can get the content from there.
And we can use it.
So now
>> Now let me check that.
>> We had lots of
planning here
earlier.
>> [clears throat]
>> Okay.
Let me share this link on the chat
window. Let me also see.
Then we can use the same format, now.
>> And [snorts] this this this
events
the 25 events
This is the
This is the thing, right? Detail where
you had lots of detail about
what you required, right? Create like
this.
It will not make sense to have a proper
registration link and what you're doing.
And then
properly structure, now. So go
like this and
we create the same structure in a
uh Google Google Drive.
>> Yes.
Okay.
I think the same structure is what Sagar
was using.
So I just had to add these tracks. Okay,
I'll take it from him or I'll just
follow the same thing. I'll take his
data and format it in this way.
>> No, I'm asking for the hackathon, not
for
that that one that DevCon one.
>> No, no, even for the even for the
hackathon we listed out in a different
document. That's what we're we have
listed a few tracks where Sagar has
listed out few tracks in the same
document. So, I just listed out a few
more tracks to add it in the same
document what Sagar has created. So,
that was for hackathon, not DevCon, the
other document what I'm talking about.
>> Yes, yes. So, we have to just
consolidate all of
>> Yeah, this document which is which is
he's showing, this is not for hackathon,
right?
It's a different.
>> Yeah, yeah, that is Yeah, this is
different and that is different. Yes.
>> Okay.
Yeah, Karthik, you're saying something.
>> Yeah, we just have to consolidate all of
it. I have made some changes.
I'll put it in the WhatsApp group also.
So, what we have decided, I think Navya
already told you.
Maybe
Like
We are planning to do it from
24th of
this month. Right, Navya? I forgot.
>> Yeah, yeah, August 24th to September
23rd or something. Yeah.
>> Uh
for 1 month.
So, it is same on the
patterns of Hacker House, Hacker House
Goa. Like they will submit the idea and
uh
at last few finalists will be called for
DevCon,
you know, to compete in the in DevCon
itself. So, let's say 10 teams.
We'll shortlist 10 teams and best 10
teams will be called.
Oh, okay.
Okay, so then nothing then we can maybe
drop.
Yeah, okay for now.
>> Okay then. Yeah, see you. Bye.
Thank you.
>> Bye.
>> Thanks everyone.
Bye. Thank you.
>> Okay, thank you. Bye-bye.
>> Bye.
