Local artists recently came together in Walker to showcase their work and connect with the community during the annual Art on the Hill event. Reporter Ryan Fleming takes us back inside the show for this week's In Focus. >> The Walker Area Community Center was transformed into a gallery with pieces filling the room in nearly every direction. And while the styles may have varied, those behind the event say that variety is exactly what makes the show stand out. >> We have everything from 2D art. We have a lot of paintings, a lot of uh things that you can hang in your cabin. You can decorate whatever. We have woodwork. We have gourds. We have jewelry. We have just a whole lot of different types of art, and everything is unique. >> The art may have been the main attraction, but refreshments and drinks gave visitors a chance to mingle while taking in nearly three decades of local creativity. >> I just hope that they see that this is there are a lot of great artists in and around the Walker area and the Leech Lake area and a lot of people doing a lot of different things. It is just a very special show. We've been It's about the 27th year of this show, and this is the second year at the Walker Area Community Center. >> For the artists, the event is about more than putting finished pieces on a wall. It's a chance to connect with guests and be part of a larger creative community across northern Minnesota. >> More than 20 local artists are showing their work here and giving visitors a chance to meet the people behind the art. >> It's a great opportunity in northern Minnesota to be able to get a whole bunch of artists together, great talent, and get together for one weekend and have a really good show. >> Every piece on display, from paintings to jewelry, was also available for purchase, giving visitors a chance to bring home something created right here in Walker, Minnesota. And for some artists, that connection is what matters most. >> I like that my pieces are bright.
